After four years of not communicating with LegalZoom they were extremely cooperative on getting my account recovered and up to date. When it came to federal law they were prompt to keep me updated on mandates and regulations. Very professional and well mannered business.
The most horrible customer support and the longest wait times I have ever experienced. I purchased an LLC package with all the bells and whistles to include expedited processing. After two months of waiting, broken promises from customer support ("It will be finished today, we are so sorry for the wait..."), many unanswered questions, no contact, hours on the phone and in chat rooms, and a refusal to refund services not rendered, I cannot recommend LegalZoom.
Never use this company they took two months to file LLP agreement and I had to call three times just to get them to file everything. Then they refused to refund the money for a terrible experience and didn't stand behind their customer satisfaction guarantee.
Legal Zoom used to be a cost effective way to manage small legal jobs. It has changed greatly over the years. I recently used them for a Trademark search/submission and I would not recommend it now. The process is very unclear, I received several emails to sign the documents before submission but there is no way to follow where the docs are and how you are supposed to sign. So I email with nothing but an auto-responder. I call the service line and am on hold for over 20 minutes for something that should be abundantly clear but the 20 somethings they have working for them have no idea how to articulate online. Go to a real lawyer!
Courtney's fantastic, she went above and beyond. She took me through each step of adding services to my LLC, then did the extra research for New York State to answer my specific questions. I never had to wait for a response and she was always professional and upbeat.

We had use legal zoom 1 year. We missed the notice about auto renewal. But when we got the notice that it had renewed, we called right away to cancel the annual service. The woman said she WOULD credit the 199 dollars, but we never received it, and when we called a month or so later, they said oh, too bad it renewed. We won't credit you the 199. This is a total rip-off as they get paid for no service
The fellow we spoke with chose not to understand the situation and just kept responding the same pat answer. Beware

Had question regarding Business License package I purchased for $79.00. All I got back as a response was to contact another company they contract with. When I contacted the third party, they had no idea what I was talking about. When back to Legal Zoom, and received no responses from email to customer support, and don't get me started on getting someone on the phone. I have never written a bad complaint about a company, but this company is the worst I have ever seen, and deserves this review.

Summary: Complete failure on LegalZoom part. Requested Registered Agent for almost a month still no action. Number of phone calls 11, Hours on the phone: 7. Twice requested to speak with manager. Escalation team 3 agents where involved. 2 times order was created with problems. Never send you status, excuse, excuse and another one. 2 emails to support asking the same question over and over again. People please save your money and find some other company. Consider you paying them for service and they are not delivering. Also I will submit compliant to BBB.

Just had another corporate document failure by LegalZoom. Filed on May 24th with an expected delivery date of June 6th. Waiting until June 26th and they said it was still being processed. Had to cancel and go with a normal attorney. It's like they just don't care anymore about providing decent service. This is royally screwing up a deal that I needed a simple document filed for. Avoid them at all costs!

I have had several last will and testaments prepared for myself and family members with Legal Zoom. This company has great customer service even after the sale. If I went to an attorney to have my will prepared the cost would be around $700 in my state, it only cost $119 at Legal Zoom. I've had the wills examined by three attorney friends and they gave a thumbs up to the preparation and appearance of the final product. All wills are prepared according to the laws of the state that the customer resides, so everything is legal and up to date. I would not hesitate to use Legal Zoom again, I highly recommend this company.
I was in the middle of filling out my DBA application form online and a customer service rep called to ask if I had any questions with the application. I asked a couple of questions and got really rude answers. The rep seemed frustrated and ended up hanging up on me! I've never been hung up on by a customer service rep before until now. I was close to being done with my application but after that call, I decided not to submit the application and won't be using their services ever again. It ended up taking me only 30-45 minutes and was way cheaper to file the DBA myself with the state ($24.60 compared to Legalzoom's $99). I hardly ever write reviews but this was such a terrible experience that I had to let others know to beware of this company.

What a scam. Legal service hustlers. No lawyers -just paper pushers - reading a script and selling unnecessary service or charging hundreds to file papers you can for free on any state web site.
They refused and delayed canceling my agent's subscription. They charged $499 to dissolve a corporation. I cancelled it. I called DE state and did it for $110 myself. Now they refused to refund my agent's fee of $299 as promised. What a scam. I cancelled before renewal and got resistance. What ever state or agency you are dealing with call them directly and do it yourself. The refund policy states 30 days.

Set up an LLC back in 2014. Still can't get my EIN, the IRS has idea who I am. Legal zoom says they submitted my SS4. After almost a year a asked them to submit it again. That was a month ago, still nothing. Can't confirm they are doing anything.
This is crazy as other companies I used confirm, sent me a copy of confirmation and paperwork was done and received with 20 days.
Not to mention the hold times at all times of day. I think my average is around 15-20 minutes. They always have high call volumes, but reading all of the bad reviews I would suggest another reason is probably the case.
Use another company.

I recently ordered the LLC package, the information regarding my purchase is not showing up under my profile. In fact, it's treating me as if I have no prior purchases. I contacted customer service 4 days ago, despite promising a 24 hour turnaround, I've not received any feedback... NOTHING! No email, no phone call, no nothing! I did receive a call from a Los Angeles number, but when I said "Hello", I heard a "hello" several times and then he hung up. I paid an installment of $169.00 and the way I feel, they can keep it, I'll cut my losses there... rather than spend $500 to be frustrated. One of the most important business principles that I've read is the idea of "delivering what your business promises". Advertising is CLEARLY the reason why this company ranks so high, because the customer service is very, very poor and that is a companies first line of customer contact. I would never recommend this service to anyone.

I was trying to get my business entity transferred to another state. Promises, promises... but no results yet. Order started in May and now we are in September. I've called several times, with poor customer service, promises that, that particular agent would see the order through, stalling, confirmation of stalling, more promises and still no results.

Customer Service is not available by phone during advertised hours. I've tried twice now — the first calling 20 minutes before closing time, the second (today) 2.5 hours before closing. I called back twice, to make certain there wasn't some glitch, but no, they just put you through prompts, state their [obviously inaccurate] hours, then the automated system hangs up.
They also state in email inquiries, "One of our Customer Care Specialists will review your inquiry and respond within one business day." My first inquiry took them 5 days to respond. I've sent a second, unrelated inquiry and it's almost 24 hours. Not holding my breath.

Online forms were very simple and straightforward. The call to upsell me in the middle was informative but not pushy. Was able to complete my LLC application in less than an hour. Will use their services again I am sure!

Hi. I recently used LegalZoom to set up a DBA. My first business. After filing with them, a buddy told me I should have just done it myself. That's its fairly simple and does not take much time. Well, wish I had known that before spending a couple of hundred dollars with LegalZoom. I started the process with them 5 weeks ago. They sent me paperwork that needed to be signed and notarized and sent back. Did that. So, now I'm 5 weeks in, they're still waiting for the paperwork to be returned from the Federal and State Agenicies supposedly? By the time I'm legally up and running, bet it will be at least at the 2 month, 60 day, Mark if not later?! My friend explained how I could have easily done it myself and the company set up in a week or two at most. Trust me. If you're looking to start a business, this is a good way of getting your feet wet and learning something. Do it yourself.

I have 3 accounts with LegalZoom that go back several years. Unfortunately my experience with thier current staff has been a ridiculous waste of time as the usual interface is dropped calls and over 30 minutes of hold time(and this after they call me). They are incapable of transferring an LLC to an authorized owner and will not consider amending this practice under any circumstances. The notice sent out (email) for SOI compliance is neither monitored or protected as a usable document... so a $250 fine is applicable from the state after 90 days. I'm not the first customer to voice this complaint and will not be the last. I can only surmise the front line employees are poorly trained and without recourse to a manager who gives a $&!#. This practice is usually the result of greed or ignorance... of which neither are good for the future.

I demanded a refund and all I got was runaround and phone disconnects. No way would I EVER mess with these people again... I ended up doing a chargeback on my card and blocking future charges from them!

I'm still beginning the process but to help others out. If your a first time seller stay away as your only interaction is online which is probably fine when you know the all the legal terms but if your a newbie I'd go with people you can speak too. This is rubbish. An annoying thing is that the reference forms they speak of bear no relation to the online forms you are presented with, this makes having an easy conversation about missing information impossible really. I rang the support line and they asked me to tell them the name of my solicitor that's appointed by them what the, that's just stupid they should have all the details to hand. So in summary save yourself a nightmare stay away.
