The most horrible customer support and the longest wait times I have ever experienced. I purchased an LLC package with all the bells and whistles to include expedited processing. After two months of waiting, broken promises from customer support ("It will be finished today, we are so sorry for the wait..."), many unanswered questions, no contact, hours on the phone and in chat rooms, and a refusal to refund services not rendered, I cannot recommend LegalZoom.

I no longer use legal zoom because they never do the yearly registration for your state. I had to do it myself. LegalZoom is just a waste of money! Don't use their services! You will regret it.

I paid for a 501(c) (3) non-profit to help Veterans and they did it all, when we were building the website I got a call fr the company doing the website informing me that that even though qe had registered the name with the California Secretary of State we could not use the name because it was registered already and I have spent 2 days trying to talk to somebody to fix it and change the name, they have hanged up 3 times and offers that a manager would call me back and nobody has.

I've had to make several calls about a simple DBA that I could have done myself. There is no follow-up and after making three phone calls I was on hold listening to elevator music for over an hour. TOTALLY UN ACCEPTABLE. I think I am going to go back to paying an attorney or doing it myself. After finally speaking to someone following a 30 minute wait I was put on hold for an hour wait. My timer on my phone is now at 58 minutes and 45 seconds. HORRIBLE WAY TO DO BUSINESS.

Tip for consumers:
The service is really friendly through e-mails. But try to get someone on the phone after they've been paid.

Dealing with LegalZoom has been a nightmare. I was filing for an uncontested divorce in California. They took over 1 1/2 weeks to mail me the paperwork. They could have easily let me download the forms after I paid for it - which was what I was expecting. Then, they figured out my monthly income based on the W2 earnings for last year... This figure was completely wrong due to the fact that I work in sales, and we have a base salary + commissions. I had to "fill out" a request to make a change, which took 1 week! Yes, 1 week! Got the change today Friday, and instead of making a change they "added" the new monthly salary to the Respondent's salary information! So I called them - they bounced me back and forth 4 times and the last person I spoke to did not know what a "figure" was - really? In addition she said that they could probably not make the change until EOD next Monday! This was a very painful, inefficient experience. I want a refund. This experience was not worth the money I paid.

I purchased a Will for CA a few years ago and found out, fortunately within a couple of weeks, that one of they signatures LegalZoom directed me to get would have COMPLETELY INVALIDATED THE WILL. I have not trusted their site since. If they are not going to do the research to find out what is required for something this important, and what will invalidate the document, how can I trust them for anything? I don't. I am adding an m to the site name because LegalZoom requires an order number.

I had applied for TradeMark and had taken their complete coverage package. This package includes everything including legal fees, implying they check for any similar marks, they review the application, ask us to fill in the classification of goods. After you fill the questionnaire etc. The application is checked for errors and filed by them. Upon submitting my application after 2 months got an email from The Office Action by USPTO stating some classification goods and services falling in different classes: So either pay for additional class or remove the same. I intended to apply only for 1 class so it made sense to remove the extra/ wrong classification of goods. I called up LegalZoom and spoke to their rep. And it was appalling that he suggested we would have to buy some services to fix the mistake done in filing the trademark application.

I didn't expect this answer, especially considering the fact that my only request was to FIX the mistake done in filing by LegalZoom and I was not asking for any kind of compensation or help which didn't fall under the scope of our purchase. I emailed but no response initially and later negative response!

If this issue is not fixed without any fees I intend to post the reviews everywhere and I will fight legally to get a refund + claim for harassment and damages due to their lack of service.

These people are stupid and I would suggest for everybody to stay away from them. They gave us false promises like they would have our DBA in a couple of days but be warned, going through them will take about 2 weeks to just get a DBA approved. We thought we would have our EIN # by now and they new that my husband had another sole proprietorship company name and he gave them the EIN# for that DBA. Legal Zoom should have known that you only hold 1 EIN# when you are a sole proprietor. We found it out when we did the research ourselves last night. We used them because we did not have time to figure everything out on our own, so we thought they would know what to do and they DON"T! DO NOT US LEGAL ZOOM!

Zero Star Rating, Trademark: Misleading website appears you will get the trademark application with the Comprehensive search. No, that is another $444. I could not find the answer to this on their website and had to call and had to hold over 20 minutes to speak to a person. I got the application to sign, but they did not change my email address as previously requested (email). I sent by email per their request with 2 brief succinct issues. They answered 1 and ignored 1 (my email address change). I have sent 4 request by email asking them to change my email address on the application-still nothing. I got an email reply saying they will contact me within 1 business day. It has now been 3 bus. Days. I sat on hold for 31 minutes to speak to a person before I gave up. Their service is so bad the answering machine says you can leave your # on the machine and they will call you back. (that was about 30 minutes ago) Also bad website design, can not get to the application thru the website, only by the email they sent me.

Stay away. It's a ripoff that you will be charged every year for nothing at value what so ever. To cancel is another ripoff. A headache and a nightmare. HELL NO.

I'm not sure if anyone at this company has a brain. They died me up for two months. A simple corporation set was what I needed. During this time I spoke to 5 different people who all ask the same thing and had the same problem. What state was I in again? What the name of the corporation you wanted? I was amazed how these people found their way to work, On second thought, maybe they were work from home employees. After the 5th person called me I just had my money refunded on the spot. I then went to the secretary of state of my state an less than an hour I have the paperwork sent to me and all filled and in the mail. The folks at your secretary of state will help you. The paperwork is easy and all for 100.00 buck, at least in my state, you can do it too. I then when on line and found the company that makes and sells the corporate documents and corporate seal. This was another 85.00 bucks. Legal wanted around 400.00 for took me less than an hour. I predict Legalzoom won't be around much longer without someone getting a handle on how poorly it is being ran.

I purchased a non profit package from Legal Zoom. I was told They would register me with the state and provide a questionnaire for the IRS portion of the process and a guide to help. That all I had to do was provide information and they would do the rest and it would be a simple process. And here I am on hold with the Secretary of State to get an official copy that apparently only I can get from the State, which is NOT what I was told when I purchased their assistance. They send out emails saying they need information when they don't and when you call them to inquire, they aren't aware of an issue when there is on. The customer service folks can only read off a script and when you ask for information off their script, they are lost. I paid for guidance and instruction, not this noninformative and nonhelpful customer service and lack of doing what they said.

Doesn't matter how much u pay the service still sux I've spent 4 hrs in total to get to talk to a human and I'm not closer to getting finished any they are not helpful

They knowingly allowed a person to use my stolen credit card information and failed to take corrective action when informed. They continued to process the charges and never called me back.

If they do business like this, you should not use them.

Legal Zoom gave me great service before I handed over the money. Once I paid the wait times to speak to a rep were over 2 hours, I would request a call back and get hung up on and never receive a call back, I had documents waiting to be sent to the state and were outdated by the time they got to the state so they were rejected, I resent documents over 7 times, one rep would say everything looks great only to get a call the next day saying they never received the documents? I filed in May and still have nothing to show for it... THREE MONTHS later and paid for the "expedited 5-7 days". Legal Zoom is a joke and I will NEVER do business with them again.

I have registered 3 businesses successfully in the past and on my 4th business, I thought I would try legalzoom. It has been the worst experience ever. Currently I am held hostage, it has been over 2 months and they have failed in submitting my paperwork 3 times. Every time they fail and supposedly try again, you have to wait 7-9 business days. The weeks go by and by then the automated call comes in saying they submitted your paperwork again. I have called at least 8 times trying to find out whats going on. I record all my calls. Every time they assure me that they did things right this time and then again today I get an automated call saying they've submitted my paperwork. The girl today tells me, that they made a mistake sending a batch paperwork electronically. It has gotten so bad, I am driving down to the secretary of state's office right now in Maryland to confirm they got it. If they do not have it, I dunno what I'm going to do. All I know for sure right now is that I will never use legalzoom again.

If you're looking to form your LLC, I highly recommend doing your own research and filing it yourself. People often rely on companies like LZ because they either lack time or don't want to make mistakes with filing paperwork. I reached out to LZ for help in setting up two of my companies, and they appear to be fully on board, assuring me that everything was on track and in order. If you're wondering whether this company is a waste of space, time, and money, think again. Despite not receiving what I requested, they still charged me almost 2500 for both and i still had errors on my paperwork. They informed me that they had sent emails and a letter in the mail regarding the annual payment, which I neglected to pay, leading to the cancellation of LZ as my registered agent. I find this very interesting because I haven't received anything in the mail or any phone calls. If I hadn't checked my spam email, I wouldn't have found this email to contact them and It's a bit insane every agent I speak to either has an attitude or lacks helpful knowledge. I keep getting transferred to different people. In order to correct my paper with the IRS, I had to pay my tax preparer to file specific tax papers because of the errors made. I've contacted them "LZ" and been transferred three times. The last agent told me it's the customer's fault for any errors. I find this as a joke.

The rest of the review is correct, the positives are made up! This company is a total scam filled with incompetent agents on the phone. Every time I call I get transfer to another incompetent, then finally say you really need to talk to a accountant or lawyer, etc. None of them can really answer a simple question about the products they are selling! I bought the Business Tax Preparation
Essential Compliance + Tax Preparation Package but gave up using it since the "Schedule a Consultation" button refuse to work and no one seem to know why? I emailed support but got ignored, so I finally found a local accountant to do it for me.

As a side note to make that stupid button work you have to right click and say "open in new tab" then it works. Good thing I am creative so I figure it out when no one in Legal zoom can!

I want to cancel the SCAM package that I cannot use but the "Cancel Membership" link does not work, how convenient, eh? $320.00 down the drain will not make the same mistake again! Also, I found out the tax prep is with 1-800 accountant another SCAM company who I spoken to once but had nightmares afterwards as they are pushing their high end services which cost thousands of dollars every quarter. Yes 1-800 accountant got 1 star rating on Yelp go check it out! I made the mistake going with Legal Zoom no way am I going with their SCAM partner!

So they send you a generic, "Hey your order is on it's way, Log in to our website to check the status" even when your application is incomplete. Instead of them sending you an email stating "Your application is Incomplete please follow these steps". The first one leads one to believe that everything is good and checking the website is an option.
This is TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND POOR COMMUNICATION. Now three weeks later they want to tell me it's going to take yet another 5-15 business days and the end of the month is only 15 days away but I need an EIN, a new bank account and to set up payroll before then.
Horrible customer service. Horrible. And of course they want me to pay extra for expedited service. Hundreds of dollars extra.

I EMAILED AND PHONED THEM TELLING THEM NOT TO AUTO WITHDRAW MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT, BUT THEY DID IT ANYWAY, TWICE. HAD TO GET MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY TO 'STOP PAY' FROM LEGAL ZOOM ON ANY FUTURE ATTEMPTS.

I WAS UNAWARE THAT I COULD GET AN EIN TO START A BUSINESS FOR FREE THROUGH THE CORPORATION COMMISSION. I THEN WENT THROUGH LEGAL ZOOM HOWEVER THAT HAPPENED. THEY HAD A $399 DOLLAR YEARLY FEE (FOR 3 YEARS) THAT I WAS NOT AWARE OF. THEY HAVE SINCE SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS AND I HAVE PERFECT 750 CREDIT SCORE. I WILL NOT BE PAYING THEM. I AM SO DISPLEASED

Ordered set-up of a non-profit company on January 23rd. Paid on January 23rd. Received two phone calls from Legal Zoom with additional questions. Answered both calls within 24 hours. Almost two months after the order was placed I receive an automated call saying my order is complete and will finally ship. 3 days later I receive shipment and guess what, they did not even obtain the EIN! Cant do anything without an EIN! Call customer service and get some guy (Robert) that gives me attitude that I have a problem it timeframe. I ask for a manager and get put on hold for over 20 minutes. I give up and call back and speak with Jennifer who states that the IRS "tools" website was down when they applied for the EIN (one time) and that it will take at least another 3-5 business days. I ask what Legal Zoom is going to do to make this right, the response, no lie... " Well I can cancel your order and refund you the money". Are you kidding me? What kind of company is this. No apology, no rush, no concern that we are still sitting here without the key document or number anyone needs to do anything two months after we paid.

I have had a glitch in getting copyright protection for 3 songs. Apparently the application did not list me as author of the " music". I submitted materials that clearly specified myself as author of lyrics and music. I have responded by phone for two days now and have had no response from LZ to correct the situation. I payed a lot of money to LZ to avoid rookie moves. I might suggest to others to save over $100.00 per song and go directly to COPYRIGHT OFFICE MYSELF. I NOT A HAPPY CAMPR

Beware! I had called in to check the status on my order and Aaron was by far the most disrespectful and rudest rep I have spoken to at Legalzoom. The company has a dozen different reps that will handle your account and the reps leaving "notes" in a client's account are clearly not thorough enough since I had to be put on hold for 10 minutes while he "reads" them. I paid for the expedited process but Legalzoom doesn't feel that the priority is there even when I had paid for the highest package. You've been sending me emails that don't even correlate to my communication with you. I recommended that there should be just one rep to facilitate each specific account so that there isn't miscommunication and instead of a company taking the feedback and saying, "Thank you, we'll look into that," Aaron proceeded to rudely disrupt and say that "it's impossible because we have thousands of business requests". You have lost my business and future businesses.

Building a foundation for a small business and trying to process an LLC should not make me feel like I'm just another number in the "thousands" of requests. Legalzoom does not hold standards high and only wants to reap the financial benefits. Please train your reps to be more respectful over the phone.

I wanted to dissolve or close my LLC, and in addition to spending hours and hours talking to them on the phone, they asked me to follow a lot of steps to close the company, I was precisely paying for this service so I could occupy my time on other matters, and I decided to ask for my money back and they didn't give it back to me.
