Stay far away. The customer support is the worst, in addition to having paid for a service I was never provided. I filed for an LLC and ein through legal zoom in February. When I received the documents I proceeded to open a business bank account and was told that my certificate of formation was incomplete. After consulting with the state treasury office in NJ and my CPA I was told that in fact legal zoom had filed the paperwork incorrectly. I spent hours on the phone with legal zoom and eventually was told they would fix it and I would have the correct document within 8 business days. Over two weeks later I call to be told they did it correctly the first time. They said it must be me or the bank and that I should fix it myself. It's been two months since I've started this process. I can assure you after showing these documents to people who know, it's not me. I now have something that doesn't work and will have to fix it myself with the state office. If you go directly through a local CPA or lawyer the documents arrive within days. Do not use legal zoom.

I've use Legal Zoom before for estate planning documents. In the past I paid attorneys hundreds of dollars an hour to create documents for business & personal situations. Its nice to have a company to turn to that I can do most of my work done in the comfort of my home. No appointments, no hours sitting & waiting for an attorney, no dealing with clueless paralegals & other office staff that really don't care or understand what I am trying to do. So far Legal Zoom has been a very successful platform for my legal needs. I get quick, easy & professional documents & complete instructions on how to execute the documents so I know that things are filed & signed properly. It is a huge time saver & so much easier than having to deal with an attorneys office. Thank you Legal Zoom staff. The only thing that i found a bit annoying was the different options marketing levels of service. I would prefer to have a menu at the beginning so we can check off what we need & be done with it. Thats the only reason you didn't get 5 stars.

Once you sign on with them for registered agent, they will charge you $159 every year and WILL NOT LET YOU CANCEL.

Tried to cancel because they didn't do anything, but they refuse to cancel until I show proof of another registered agent taking over.

LLC setup went relatively smoothly, but they sink their claws into you for residual income on a weak and useless service.

Very brief….much information explained….not time consuming…straight to the point

I form a corporation through Legal Zoom. Paid $736 for the service. Big mistake, later I found out my accountant will do it for half price.

If you check local newspaper, and search a little, a lot of the accountant will do it for free if you use their tax filing service.

Legal Zoom slap me with $399 Auto Renew Register Agent Service fee.

The agent told me he can give me half off. Sounds like they are doing their best to charge you some money...

I told him I want out, and he said I have 30 days to change the Registed Agent from the state department. I called the state department, the clerk told me that she just spoke to more than 10 people before me that day had the same issue from Legal Zoom.

Turn out, the change information is more complicated than form a new corporation. I ran to my accountant for help, as expected, we cannot get the state record updated within 30 days. They just rob me for the $399 when my accountant provide this from free...

What a scam! They should be shut down by the congress or senators... Any public advocate, please look in to their business practice, the auto renew of a service they charge $399 everywhere else charge $50 to $75.

My Divorce papers were completed incorrectly and were sent back by the courthouse with a detailed list of inaccuracies. I asked legal zoom to re-do the papers. They did. The court found more errors so I combed thru them, redid them again and swung by legal aid to double check. They found more errors and some forms needed I didn't even receive from legal zoom at all. The only way legal aid would help me is if I promised to post this and ask for a full refund. They see legalzoom errors all the time and gate having to correct their work. Apparently, courts and clerks are all different and you need expertise on the inside to know exactly what to file and how to do it. Even the copies and paper clips have to in the right order and placement. I don't fault legal zoom entirely. How are they supposed to know every nuance of each court and clerk? I do think it's misleading to ask for $299 to complete paperwork that ultimately won't be done correctly. As promised, I asked for a refund via email but was told I'd have to call customer service. I've been on hold a very long time and I'm bidding my time by writing this review. If I get the refund I will donate it to legal aid.

We had the pleasure to work with Melissa Scandariato the last few months on building our LLC and she was extremely professional, with such high character, great communication, she really made things very clear and comfortable for us, definitely worth recommending and doing business with LegalZoom!

I have used Legalzoom multiple times over the years, mostly for forming corporations. They started out being OK, but now the service is absolutely not worth it. For the small savings that you get from them, over hiring an attorney, you can spend tons of time trying to correct mistakes, etc. So if you value your time at all, go with a regular attorney and forget about Legalzoom. In the most recent case, I filed an S-Corp, and submitted all of the paper work, but Legalzoom did not file a key document with the IRS. I had to spend endless hours with their customer service line, which does not respond but puts you in a phone tree, and they absolutely refuse for you to talk with a supervisor. They promised to send the proper paperwork, but never did. I wasted day after day chasing this issue to get this resolved. It's absolutely not worth the hassel... get it done right, but a local attorney that you can trust and work with, and you will never have to go through what I had to go through with these long holds on customer service lines.

Had mixed experiences with other employees but mostly worked with Nathan Forrest. He was excellent. Very knowledgeable and quick to respond to questions.

Everyone at Legal Zoom is so friendly and ready to help with any and all of your questions. If you are looking to start your own business I would recommend them all my friends and family.

READ THE FINE PRINT when you sign up for ANYTHING from legalzoom. Just discovered that I've been being charged $15/month for a 30-day free trial that I was apparently supposed to cancel 30 days after I signed up to just create a living will. The $15/month was supposed to be for free revisions to my living will which turned out to be wrong as well since I was still being charged for revisions on top of the $15/month. Closed my account with legalzoom and will NOT do business with them again.

I have been working with LegalZoom for the past 6+ years for professional and personal assistance. I have always had a positive experience and will continue to use their services going forward.

I wouldn't leave a star at all! They are rude and not helpful and can't get a hold of anyone what so ever. The call backs takes weeks and still no help.

Now, before you think "yeah, you just missed that upsell/pre-ticked box in the form" I must say, I'm a marketer - I've been in the Internet marketing industry for 12 years now, I know what to look for and I'm telling you - I didn't see anything that said I would be enrolled in anything nor would I have had any interest in any form of renewal consumption service that they could possibly offer.

We're calling customer service, but we're not naive enough to expect a refund, and even if we got one - we don't care, this is SHADY, SHADY, SHADY and I'm going to tell anyone I can. I will not only never recommend LegalZoom again, but they lost what would have been a lifelong customer and anyone I could possibly refer.
