This was the loveliest department store when I was growing up. We shopped at their Fifth Avenue flagship store and at another suburban site. In its halcyon days it catered to the carriage trade... it was totally top drawer. It was always a treat to have lunch or a little treat at their tea room known as The Bird Cage. Over the years, due to poor corporate management, it deteriorated; became known as "Lord and Taylor" and essentially sunk into oblivion. I ordered a few lovely cashmere sweaters in recent years... then I just learned that it was bought out for a meager 400 M. By some kind of rental business... horrible news. Good-bye, Lord and Taylor's... you were wonderful and a classic in more genteel and gracious times. Five stars for your glorious past... you were the gold standard of department stores. ~ M. S.
They sent me a return label to give them a good review, after I did they received my return and never sent me my money back. All the communications went through NY and Co. Now, no one answers the emails, the phone number doesn't work, tooooo bad this used to be my favorite store. I think we should all send them to collections...
Here is why I'm reminded to NOT shop online at Lord & Taylor. I made a purchase in error and tried to call Lord & Taylor within 1-minute after the transaction requested it to be canceled. Only option was to Chat online or send an email. Here is the Chat exchange. I'll never go to their site again. I purchased a Gucci Marmont mini bag last year from lord and Taylor. I went to sell it through Fashionphile this year and it was rejected due to it being unauthentic. I had to pay $75 to have it sent back and was banned from future sales on their site. I also tried to have it authenticated by another company and they said it was a counterfeit bag. Lord and Taylor did not refund me my money and denied sellout counterfeit merchandise but they sold me a fake bag for $1600. Do not buy from this company!

I ordered two dresses and a pair of shoes in November. In December, I was notified the item's were "out for delivery" with the USPS. Then notified by USPS, the items would be sent back to the warehouse, insufficient address. The irony: the other dress I ordered WAS delivered. So it was not the shipping address. I have been emailing customer service for months, looking for resolve on this matter. The chat feature is broken, the text feature is broken. When I email, I only hear back about a week or so after, and it's always the SAME reply: we're looking into this, etc. I am out the money, no one is making it right and there is no one to speak to. THIS IS SHAMEFUL! People purchase items, trusting a retail company, then the product doesn't arrive. IT'S SIMPLE. MAKE IT RIGHT.

I recently made an expensive purchase from L&T. (I wish I hadn't.) 2 Gucci belts for Christmas gifts. When the delivery came, ONLY one belt was shipped but the packing ship said two. I have been trying to reach them by email, phone to no avail. A robot answered by txt saying "the team said two belts were shipped." Someone at the L&T Fulfillment Center made a huge mistake. I received only 1 belt. I will never shop L&T again. They are grifters. They are dishonest and horrible.

First off, this is not Lord & Taylor. They are out of business and this entity bought the name. And believe me they are only Lord & Taylor in name. They have no regard for the customer. I bought a Gracia white with black trim wrap dress that I paid $81.27 for. I wore it once and washed it according to label instructions and the black bled onto the white of the dress and now it is unwearable. I sent pictures and explained everything and they will not do anything for me. I don't appreciate throwing $81.27 away! I would highly recommend you not use this site.
I placed an order twice on Lord and Taylor, and both times, my orders were rejected on the basis of lack of inventory. However, the stuff is clearly still in stock in my size on the webpage! Clearly they can't be bothered to explain why my orders were rejected.
Update: I contacted customer service to find out more about the rejection of my order, and the customer service replied me in about two working days, and gave clear explanations. Seemed okay. Of course, it wasn't pertaining to refunds etc so I can't speak for that.
Nevertheless, I probably won't shop there again because I've already wasted a lot of time trying to login at checkout, and the solution provided to my "out of stock" problem was rather unsatisfactory. Also, the earlier "out of stock" issue I encountered was somewhat a turn off because they couldn't even be upfront with me about the order rejection.
If I could give zero stars I would and judging by their low rating, I am not alone. I ordered a dress originally around Christmas when it was on sale. They took my money and never sent the dress. When I contacted them, they said the dress was not in stock and refunded my money. They never would have refunded if I did not call. I ordered it a 2nd time and this time it was not on sale. They did not send a tracking number but directed me to an app called Shop. This app provided fake shipping information and said the dress was delivered. I contacted them again and the dress was never in stock. I contacted my credit card company and let them know if was a fraudulent charge and I never received the dress. I just ordered the dress from Bloomindale's and was on the phone with the salesperson who assured me that 1. They had the dress and 2. It would be shipped out. I informed Lord & Taylor that I reported the fraudulent charge and would never shop on their site again. Of course, less than a minute later, I received an email from them offering 30% off, I sent it to Spam.

I ordered several bridesmaid dresses from L&T and none of them worked so I promptly returned them. It's been several weeks since my return was delivered to them and I still have not received a refund. I contacted Customer Service and they just tell me to keep waiting. The whole thing seemed sketchy to me, so I did some digging. Shoppers would be wise to google the owner of L&T's new parent company, Yakoub ("Jack") Saadia. He was convicted of several felonies in the 2000s for involvement in smuggling nearly $700 million worth of real and counterfeit merchandise from China, and between him, the parent company, and L&T there are more lawsuits in recent years than I could count. Buyers beware: this isn't our mothers' Lord & Taylor!
If I could give this store negative stars I would. Lord and Taylor has NOT adjusted their return policy due to Covid 19. I live in NJ and had been in quarantine for months! All retailers have extended their return policy due to COCID-19 and during this difficult time, Lord and Taylor decreased their policy to 30 days! L&T Stores have been closed for months and not one representative answered phones in online customer service. I will never purchase another item in this store!

I ordered a gown back on June 19th. The gown did not fit me and I returned the gown on the same date that I received. Today is August 24th and Lord & Taylor still did not issue me a refund. Customer service is terrible and there is no one that I can talk to.

I shop on line all the time. I ordered 3 dresses on March 20th and was charged before any of the dresses were sent. Received 2 and it is April 27th and still have not received the third. My event is over and I have tried to cancel the third dress three times and get my money back. They won't cancel or give me my money. STAY AWAY FROM LORD & Taylor!

I wish I could give them a zero, I placed an order online and paid for economy shipping which is their fasted deliver option 4-7 business day. Two days after I placed the order I checked online to see if item was shipped because I didn't receive any email stating it was out so I reach to Lord and Taylor by via text message and they confirmed that my order was being processed and the item should be shipped out by the end of business day and they would send an email confirmation once done. Next day after realizing I've not received an email from them I checked the order online and saw my order was cancelled with warning or an email stating a reason. This is very disappointing because I ordered this dress to attend a black tie fundraising event that I was being honored at. So days are approaching and have nothing to wear and these ppl cancelled my order without and noticed or giving me the opportunity for a different option is very frustrating. Terrible service and they obviously don't care for my business. I will never in life purchase from this company and no wonder they no longer have actual store locations anymore.

ALERT! I am encouraging everyone that reads this review to BEWARE. A few months ago I had to attend an affair which required formal wear. I ordered a number of dresses from ONLINE LORD AND TAYLOR. I decided not to keep the merchandise but returned the items in a timely fashion. Lord and Taylor later partially refunded me my money back stating that they did not receive all of the merchandise which was sent via UPS. I tried to reach someone via the phone number provide but it was not a working number. I then spoke to someone via chat and was pushed off. Now I am having my credit card to fight for my refund ($400.00). Lord and Taylor are scamming their customers by receiving refunded merchandise and saying that they did not receive it when it is returned AND they are keeping the customers money. Please do not purchase any thing from this company. PLEASE USE ME AS YOUR EXAMPLE. DO NOT ORDER FROM LORD AND TAYLOR. YOU MAY BE SORRY LATER!

The WORST online experience, EVER. My return has been en route using their expensive pre-paid label for two weeks. Their condescending customer service people (endlessly starting each sentence with my first name) can only tell me that the package is "in transit" they have no idea when it will be delivered, no idea how long the return will take to be processed once it is received (but it might be up to two weeks), and then it will take three weeks to refund my payment after the return is finally processed. I am not in the business of lending department stores money. Give me a break. Lord and Taylor used to be a marvelous store. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN.
A few years ago when L&T were a brick and mortar business I placed an order. Items arrived packaged nicely. But the items did not fit. I printed the return label and shipped them back. I never received a refund. I called and emailed only to be told they never received the return. Not only did they keep my return they kept my money as well. Fast forward, L&T is once again doing online business. I took another chance. Let's face it my previous experience could never happen again. So I placed an order for two dresses in the amount of $565.00. I was not happy with the merchandise. I let L&T know that I was returning the dresses. I received a shipping label, packaged the dresses exactly as they were shipped to me. I received an email confirming they received the return. Weeks later I realized I have not received the refund. Before shipping the items I took a picture of the box with the shipping label in place. I have now been told that the one dress was accepted and refunded but the second dress is not from them! I requested they send that dress back to me. To date I have not received the dress. L&T now has that dress and my money. Their return policy is fraudulent. Do not order from them unless you are 100% certain to like what you ordered.

My story is so long and frustrating, but I just want you to know Lord and Taylor doesn't own the store anymore one of the sales person said that it was owned by creditors and that why they were not doing returns. I was charged a duplicate order over $500.00 and I was not able to get in-touch with them on the night I placed the order. I got in touch the next day with some one in the Philippines. She said that they would credit my account because in fact it was a duplicate order. That was on October 09,2020. She said it would take a few days 7 days to be precise. I called 10 days latter she said maybe 2 weeks. I happened to get the same girl and she said sometimes it takes 2 billing cycles. I called today November 30,2020 to see what's going on! No one answers the phone they are off line.
I am now going to contact my bank to seek for help.
Please do not buy from this establishment it is no longer Lord and Taylor.

So far of all my online shopping over many years, this has been the worst experience. They have made it next to impossible to get any kind of customer service. They must know their service is bad and don't want the calls. I ordered several pairs of jeans and shirts. Only 1 pair actually fit. The sizing was way off on all the rest. I was able to return those and got credit. I received 2 out of 4 shirts. The shirts are too small. I went to return those only to find they were not returnable. It couldn't have been obvious for no returns or maybe I just stupidly thought they would stand by their products. The real problem is I never received 2 of the shirts. I want credit for them at least. I have tried several ways and times to get customer service. 800 number is just trying to sell you something, online chat and got a text asking if I fixed my issue? How do I fix my issue?
I will never shop at Lord and Taylor ever again. What a shame that a once beautiful store with high end quality has turned to this.

Scammed me on returns, I returned 10 items and they would only credit me for 8, they insisted that only 8 were returned. LIES! SO ANNOYED, never shopping here again, the clothing was the same quality as Party City Halloween costumes.

I don't understand what has happened to Lord and Taylor. They charged me for an order I never received. It sat on my credit card, and I called every day asking about the order, only to find the people taking the calls incredibly rude. You can't even hear them because the connection is so poor- every time! So even after I finally got an elevated ticket, they cancelled the order, replaced and that one got cancelled too! I have been a customer for years. What is going on here?
Also, you can order plenty of items only to find out a few days later, they say they had to cancel it due to low inventory. I know I am rambling, but this has made me FURIOUS.
Secondly, the quality of their brands have gone way downhill. I ordered two Michael Kors shirts. It used to be a good brand. The first one I washed and the color completely faded and the fabric disintegrated. The second Michael Kors shirt, the elbows wore through just after a few wearings. What the? What happened to quality? Quality is worse than Wal-mart.
