Lyft has a rating of 1.2 stars from 901 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Lyft most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and phone number problems. Lyft ranks 38th among Car Sharing sites.
So if you're 2 minutes late coming out they can charge you for it. If they are 2+ minutes late picking you up the price sure does not go down. As you're standing in the cold watching them turn around several times etc.
I booked Lyft to pick up a friend first, then me, and finally take us to downtown L.A. At the scheduled arrival time, I received a call from the driver, who informed me he was at my friend's address. However, he gave me a different address that was about 2 miles away. He claimed we were no-shows and said he was leaving. Shortly after, I received a text saying I would be charged $10 for the no-show. The issue is that the app had confirmed the correct pickup and drop-off locations in the proper order, which I documented with a screenshot. It seems the driver may have used this situation to avoid the trip and still collect a $10 fee for a bogus cancellation. Contacting customer service was nearly impossible, and navigating the app to file a complaint was frustrating and time-consuming. After about 15 minutes, I was finally informed that I would be reimbursed the $10. At the very least Lyft should verify ride cancellations with customers before applying charges. Due to the delay, we missed our seats at the concert and had to stand for the entire event. The experience was extremely disappointing.
I took a Lyft to the grocery store, bought groceries and then spent an hour trying to get a Lyft back, but Lyft has ZERO drivers out. I had to walk my groceries back 3 miles in the snow and negative temperatures. I contacted Lyft and the customer service representative says "sorry, it won't happen again." A teenager response, not a billion dollar company response. I hope this company gets sued over some crap like this. Poor in every category. Abysmal.
Tip for consumers:
If you think you will be able to get a Lyft BACK HOME think again. You're walking.
You're Christopher Walken.

I used to use Lyft all the time.
Driver took his own route and caused me to miss my flight. The flight charged us $200 to catch the next flight and the Lyft agent said as long as we got to the airport is all that mattered and refused to assist us in our money back or anything. I hate Lyft. This is why I always caught Uber. The customer service is wayyyy better.
I would give them 0 stars if I could. They are often more expensive than Uber. Their app is always lagging and has caused issues such as not updating that a ride has been confirmed and I have to get an Uber and then find out the Lyft ride went thru but just took forever, so I had to cancel and get charged for it. I rented a bike which has little to any assistance and when I returned it. After locking the bike, the meter kept going. I had to wait 20 min
On 3/6/24 a Lyft driver took us home while under the influence. Ran two red lights. No Lyft response
I am officially boycotting LYFT
They charged me a $100 damage fee for a ride my son took home,
Claiming he caused scratches to the leather interior, the photos
They sent immediately after the ride, one of them appears to be daylight
When his ride was at night. They refuse to talk to me other then via email
And refuse to address the daylight photo. They are possibly blaming
My son because he is a teenager and apparently Teen rides are not permitted on their platform yet they make no attempts to deny that service because thousands of parents have been shuttling kids and teens on LYFT for years. So corrupt! Cheats and Liars! Bad Business
I frequently leave for the airport at 4:30 in the morning to get to a 6:00 flight, airport 1/2 hour drive. This is the third time I scheduled a pick up and had to drive myself because Lyft dropped the ball. Today, the assigned driver declined the ride because he was too far away for too small of a fare. The second driver was so far away, I would have potentially missed my flight. Unless you live in a densely populated area and travel at peak times (when u will pay a premium) do not depend on Lyft for a ride.
I recently used lift for a ride from the Denver international airport to Denver where they picked me up at 10 PM. I have just checked the Uber rates which were $35-$40. The lift driver said that the Lyft rate was the same. When I received my bill through email I saw that I was charged $70.87. $34 of the charge approximately was what they called a prime time charge. I was never informed this was prime time and seriously 10 PM on a Thursday night is prime time! Lift offered me an eight dollar credit. I told them they could keep their eight dollars and have deleted their app. This is not the first time I've had a problem with the left. I'd rather ride in the taxi. By the way a black limo fee from DIA to my home is 60 bucks
The driver never picked me up from Walmart. But accepted the ride and drove close by my home to appear as if he did. It took the money off my card although I never got in his card. And when I called to confront the drive for what he had done he hung up the phone on me. I called the company and they have yet to give me a refund or do anything to the driver for leaving me stranded but taking my money. Below is the guy picture
My friend waited an hour for her Lyft, which never arrived. She had to call Uber to make it just in time to the airport.
I scheduled an Uber for a rural location to drive me to New York City. But they didn't actually secure a ride for me when I scheduled it (what's the point otherwise?), so I'm left without a ride after 20 min of watching the search screen. Now I'm paying three times the price for a professional car. Thanks a lot.
I asked for Lyft Services to go to the JFK Airport. Was told the charges would be somewhere between $35 and $54. After the trip, I received a receipt for $71 and some change. Apparently they will not tell you about additional charges in advance e.g. tolls.
Beware!
Left at doorstep. Ordered Lyft a day in advance and never got picked up. What good is that feature? Almost missed my flight and had to pay for parking for over a week at airport. Next time I'll just take a real taxi service. What a joke..."No Lyft"
I had a ride in Miami with a driver who submitted a "damage" claim against me two weeks ago. He submitted three photos that appeared to be water on his backseat, that in no way associated me with the "damage" and did not prove that I was the cause, yet I am being held responsible for the $80 fine. Turns out that lyft only requires the driver to submit photos and the name of the passenger. No requirement that they actually prove that the damage was caused by said passenger. I know that this was not from me, but Lyft doesn't care at all what I have to say about it. After multiple back-and-forth emails, they stand by that claim, even without actual evidence.
The drivers are robbers. My driver dropped me off but didn't end the ride, and I got charged for a 25 minute ride during prime time when the ride was actually only 8 minutes. Lyft won't refund me, even though I have the screen shot of the route he took after reaching my destination
Lyft has taken $180 for their car rental and gave nothing back, they stole money from me by using a simply technicality! Their customer service is terrible and does not respond. This company is a joke.
Lyft is genuinely so inconsistent and unreliable. Whether it's that it takes an hour for a ride, or the ride it took an hour to get there decides to cancel last minute. I don't even like uber, but use them over lyft any day
I decided to use Lyft instead of Uber for once and was sadly disappointed. I took a Lyft to and from a destination, with the first costing $11 and the second costing $31 because the driver lied about the route he took. When I attempted to contact Lyft to dispute the charges, they sent a standard email response saying basically sorry for your luck, with no way to contact them by phone. I am usually a very understanding customer and dont get upset easily, but Lyft is a dishonest company, who cares more about making a profit than their customer service. Will never use this company again.
See video. I mostly don't like some of the charges they have taken from me. For some reason despite the fact that I have a video, this site won't me submit unless I write the correct number of characters in this box.
Lyft is horrible if I could leave zero stars I would. They let anyone drive and their drivers are rude and extremely unprofessional then when you contact customer service through the app they are completely unhelpful and wont when issue a credit towards the next ride after their drivers mess up. Had a driver leave me stranded in front of my face and make me late for work and they would not even issue a 5 dollar credit
Tip for consumers:
Use uber instead of lyft

Rideshare
You drive for them for 5 mile and get 5$
2.5 to get the customer and 2.5 to drop off and 15 driving plus waiting so this is almost 20 min and you get 5$ if you lucky and dont search for tips so now you making 15$ an hour with out adding your spending of gas and mileage on your car lets say you pay for your insurance and monthly payment i think this is just a waste of time and some times they give you 4$ for a 9$ trip i dont know why this dum still working drivers should make a union for their own wrights
No complaint about the ride, but when there was (still is) a billing problem, their service sucks. They have no phone number and will not call, so you are stuck with emails, which don't resolve the problem. Finally I complained to the Better Business Bureau - and Lyft replied misrepresenting both the problem and their response. So this is no longer just bad service, but goes beyond that to misrepresentation.
I was at the ER due to a fall. Needed a ride home, phone has low battery….
I create account, add in credit card, book ride. Easy enough, NOT! 2 drivers within a few minutes of me are assigned my ride and both cancelled! I was furious
Lyft's customer service team is the worst of any ride-sharing/ taxi company.
Lyft "Support" acknowledged to me via email that my driver's car was in a DANGEROUS condition, putting my life in danger. It as so bad that I even had to shower when I got to my destination as the air-con was broken.
Despite this acknowledgement of negligence, Lyft said they would still charge me the FULL fare, I was not entitled to any refund, full or partial.
In other words, "we are happy to charge you the full amount for completely unsatisfactory service".
Responses from the Lyft "Support" team illustrate that the are uneducated and lack any morals. I'm not sure how these people can sleep at night.
What sort of company operates like this?
Ride with any other company, avoid Lyft.
Lyft sucks! They will terminate you as a driver for no reason and no notice in advance. When you ask "Why", they will send you an email full of lies. Stay away from Lyft. They are very shady, dishonest, and unprofessional. They steal earnings from their drivers and they cheat their customers as well. Use or apply at Uber, Sidecar or even a taxi instead. I've had awful experience with them.
The customer service rep is very short and disgustingly rude! Called about a charge of $150 on my acct and I was in 18 hours away in another state when the charges were made and the nasty rep kept dismissing me basically saying it's not their problem and to put a password on my phone. Disgusting
Need I say more? My friends asked me to meet them at an event. They were unable to pick me up. Downloaded the app, fiddled with all the credit card info, etc.
App could not find me or my destination worth a $#*!. Completely missed the event.
Lyft - You suck
Rideshare with Lyft. Lyft is your friend with a car, whenever you need one. Download the app and get a ride from a friendly driver within minutes.
