Lyft has a rating of 1.2 stars from 901 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Lyft most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and phone number problems. Lyft ranks 38th among Car Sharing sites.
So if you're 2 minutes late coming out they can charge you for it. If they are 2+ minutes late picking you up the price sure does not go down. As you're standing in the cold watching them turn around several times etc.
I booked Lyft to pick up a friend first, then me, and finally take us to downtown L.A. At the scheduled arrival time, I received a call from the driver, who informed me he was at my friend's address. However, he gave me a different address that was about 2 miles away. He claimed we were no-shows and said he was leaving. Shortly after, I received a text saying I would be charged $10 for the no-show. The issue is that the app had confirmed the correct pickup and drop-off locations in the proper order, which I documented with a screenshot. It seems the driver may have used this situation to avoid the trip and still collect a $10 fee for a bogus cancellation. Contacting customer service was nearly impossible, and navigating the app to file a complaint was frustrating and time-consuming. After about 15 minutes, I was finally informed that I would be reimbursed the $10. At the very least Lyft should verify ride cancellations with customers before applying charges. Due to the delay, we missed our seats at the concert and had to stand for the entire event. The experience was extremely disappointing.
I mostly enjoy taking Lyfts. They don't gauge you like Uber does when demand goes up. The bad part is that it can be really hard to get a driver sometimes. I like Lyft drivers better than Uber drivers and taxi drivers by a mile.
Utterly terrible. Great drivers, horrible capitalist rapist company. Was charged $325 for a 25 mile ride. $#*! Lyft. I guess it was my bad- should have chosen a cab company for a solid $50. $#*!ing bull$#*!
What a nasty and most unprofessional app to work with. They played with your time and your money; 6 times they randomly just canceled my rides after I have waited x amount of time then they reassign you another driver for more money. I deleted the app already, it's not worth anything in this world.
This company is a scam. This is a real human not a robot. I really rented a car with lift rental program and I really lost money doing it. I'm talking about the cost of gas and the cost of the rental. They had me working 10+ hours a day just to cover the cost of the rental and then on top of that I came out of pocket for gas money of which I didn't have. This company is a scam do not ever ever ever ever ever try to work for Lyft the riders will pay $100 for a ride and you'll get $15 if you're lucky out of it. You working for under a minimum wage, and on top of that you're paying out of pocket. The only thing you get out of it is a rental car but again no amount of work you're doing and creepy situation as you get in is not worth it don't ever do this to take my advice
Tip for consumers:
Just don’t do it

Lyft overcharged me for my ride. The initial cost of the trip ship should be what the customer pay for the initial cost that we see and agree to should be what we pay for not unless we add a stop or make a stop that's different. I will never ride with them again Uber doesn't have hidden fees what I agree to upon booking a ride is what I pay if you send a different type of upgrade vehicle that's not the customer's responsibility if your driver make a wrong turn and cause the trip to be longer that is not your customer's responsibility to pay 2 divers cancelled on me back to back my original cost was $23 and I was charged over $28 with no explanation
I started driving for Lyft in June. Was also promised a $300 bonus if I completed 300 rides. Of course I called them and due to the background check and the time they release you on the road, I was already 15 days into the deal before my first ride. I had no idea, followed up with them and of course no bonus. Lyft steals money from their drivers and passengers. They care more about their compensation than your effort. They have recently made it more difficult to make money with only 10 power zones now in Chicago where I would make 230 on average for 25 rides in a day to now $150 that does not include gas and oil. Lyft im glad I found employment elsewhere, YOU CAN KISS MY $#*!!
Beware of this thief, one forgets things in his car and steals them. He checked all my things and he stole my glasses Ray-Ban and he still charges me $125 to return them to me. His name is Francisco. Be careful with him
Ok so I'm an #Uber and #Lyft customer. I honestly use Uber way more because of their pricing. I signed up for Lyft as an alternative. Today I used Lyft because they offered an Election Day special - 45% of a trip. Today I had to complain once again! It seems that every time I request a car, my bank account associated with the debit card I registered with Lyft, gets a $25 "Authorization Hold" put on. I was told it was a one time thing. Now EVERY TIME I request a car, there's a new hold. I email them an get a computer generated apology stating it for all new accounts. But over been using them for months. There is no number to call them unless there is an emergency to report. #Lyft sucks! They don't have to worry about me requesting a car any more. As soon as they release the temporary hold on my account, I will be deactivating my account.
During my most recent cust. Serv. Chat, the first agent did not get back to the chat session and closed it after 24 hours without resolving the issue. The next one did not help with my simple request and ended the chat session. I submitted an issue with my 2nd ride and no one from Lyft responded. It was just generic and sometimes odd chat responses that draged out for no legitimate reason. However, my very first customer service chat was helpful, and the first ride was good. Update: All subsequent rides were good to great (as expected by a large company). Also, the app is easy to use, and the occasional discounts are okay.
It's one of the most injustice rideshare companies with their drivers in the world. I drove for Lyft almost for a year and I was a 4.9 driver which is considered as awesome driver, but when they realized that I asked them about my rights and earnings when they stole my fares then they deactivate my account for no reason. Even I can not use my Lyft app as a passenger. They want their drivers to be like a $#*! and say nothing even if you get harassed or molest by the drunk passengers just stay quit and keep driving. If you wanna be a Lyft $#*! go for it.
Never again! When the driver collected us, he passed the entrance to the driveway and almost passed to exit, and he pulled on the side of the street, this was a morning after a rainy night, so naturally the street was mucky.
We walked to the car from the driveway which is covered and was not wet or had no dirt. I later received an email with photos saying that I had been charged $30 for damage. The photos show the dirt off our feet on the car and we were being charged for that. There are 2 problems I have with this, if the driver had pulled into the driveway, we would not have this problem and I sent pictures to LYFT to support my claim.
Secondly, am I supposed to walk with a portable shoe wash to ensure that no dirt from the bottom of my foot gets on the car? LYFT refuses to refund me, I will not be using them again!
My account was hacked for a $72 ride I never requested. They found me to be responsible and would not issue refund. They also stopped talking to me when I tried to explain how this was a hack and ended my chat. When you call, you are redirected back to the website. I've deleted Lyft for good.
I as a driver for lyft, but before i became a driver i had to buy a car, insure it, w/down payment i was out 3,200 then first week i receive a notice that i will be deactivated if i fall below 4.6 10 days later i was deactivated, and they did not even wan't to work with me, they just said no were done with you. So now i have a car payment, inc payment, and bills piling up because of no job, they should learn to work with there drivers, after all we are the most important operation to there business, they are nothing without us drivers, someone should tell them that before its too late.
I was giving good reviews to friends about Lyft but the last few days I have been disappointed. In my opinion if they are no drivers Lyft should at least contact the person and say we don't have drivers and I think you should take another option. But I sat and waited and due to that I got to work late.
I was waiting at the assigned place at the airport and someone apparently got in my lyft and the driver didn't check and drove them to the location i was supposed to go. Rider was probably from out of town and didn't really know where they were going either.
Lyft charged my account and even though i sent a receipt from Uber since i was now stranded, they never credited my account. What can you do? Bad customer service to say the least.
On May 12, I I drove myself to go to work. Upon coming home I saw a message from my bank that transaction have taken place. When I checked my account, Lyft has taken $13.00 from my account. I tried calling their customer service, but to no avail. They are scammers. I have not taken lyft for a while and I have a car. On that day I drove to work. There is no way I will order a ride from lyft or anyone. When you give them you credit or debit card they go into your account any time. I have deleted there app from my devices.
Waited for an economy ride for 20 mins before the time frame, and then after the 20 min time frame a car still didn't come and scatter waiting 10 more mins after our expected time was suppose to end, we ended up calling uber. Not good coordination
Simple driver was at the wrong address miles away, but we still got charged plus a no show fee. The driver cancelled an there was no way of communicating let him know he was at the wrong address not the address we gave. Lyft steals your money customer service took his side so we lost out, we ended up calling Uber we had no issues they were there in minutes. Lyft is horrible!
Tip for consumers:
Do not trust or use Lyft for a pick up service.

Lyft service! But they never showed up for pickup because the driver got the wrong address because of his fault we still got charged plus a no show fee. They refused to give us a refund.
Hey, did anyone start applying to be a Lyft driver, not finish your application, and then have them spam you with texts? That happened to someone we know, and we filed a class-action lawsuit about it, if anyone wants to join us. If this also happened to you (spam texts without your consent from Lyft), you may be entitled to $500 for each unwanted text you received. Please give us a call: *******700 or visit our website: http://www.theadlerfirm.com/contact/.

I lost a cell phone in a Lyft car. Here is what the company did for me. They called the driver and it went to voicemail. He never called back. That was how hard they tried to help me find something of value in one of their cars. They should have required the driver to call them and respond. If he did not respond in two days, his job is gone. But after they called and texted him with no response, they said they tried, and dropped it. So, I won't be using their company again.
It was a cold Saturday when me and me and the boys hit the town. We soon found ourselves completely intoxicated and realized we needed a ride home. Unfortunately, I only had Lyft installed on my phone. When we called our driver, he was extremely rude and was not able to come for 45 MINUTES! When he arrived his car was filthy, crumbs, baseball cards, and worst of all, wasps, wasps, and mores wasps, it was almost too dangerous to drive with him! Not only did he drive in the middle of the road, but he refused to turn his radio down, which was dialed in to the dove, it was absolute hell. When we finally arrived at our destination, he refused to let us out until we gave him a tip. I will never use this app again. Worst experience EVER!
In milwaukee I applied to drive for lyft 2 years ago and I did not get it. They say that you get a mentor but I never had a mentor. I am driving for uber for a year with 4.84 out of five with over 1000 rides. There is something wrong that you can not reapply
Lyft is a scam for passengers and drivers. For drivers, Lyft keeps 20% of the fare and charges a processing fee. Lyft also does not help drivers with car maintenance, insurance, or fuel costs.
For passengers, Lyft is constantly overcharging them. They use their GPS app to purposely take drivers on longer routes in order to make more money and make the driver look bad. Lyft assumes no responsibility for anything except taking their share of the fare.
There should be a law against companies running a business like this with no customer service line this people have charged me multiple times for rides I didn't take refuse to email me back and take care of the issue be ware these people don't care if your card or information is stolen as long as they are getting paid that's all that matters this company sucks beware of false charge's I have a vehicle I don't even use lyft
Literally today, and this is not the first, where my rides have been successful and an hour later I get an email saying that my account is being suspended for not following the guidelines and I don't know why! And when I go to the app to make a complaint, customer service is giving me the run around
