“Fees”

Barb G.

So if you're 2 minutes late coming out they can charge you for it. If they are 2+ minutes late picking you up the price sure does not go down. As you're standing in the cold watching them turn around several times etc.

Top Critical Review

“Driver no-show”

Anisa H.
8/18/24

I booked Lyft to pick up a friend first, then me, and finally take us to downtown L.A. At the scheduled arrival time, I received a call from the driver, who informed me he was at my friend's address. However, he gave me a different address that was about 2 miles away. He claimed we were no-shows and said he was leaving. Shortly after, I received a text saying I would be charged $10 for the no-show. The issue is that the app had confirmed the correct pickup and drop-off locations in the proper order, which I documented with a screenshot. It seems the driver may have used this situation to avoid the trip and still collect a $10 fee for a bogus cancellation. Contacting customer service was nearly impossible, and navigating the app to file a complaint was frustrating and time-consuming. After about 15 minutes, I was finally informed that I would be reimbursed the $10. At the very least Lyft should verify ride cancellations with customers before applying charges. Due to the delay, we missed our seats at the concert and had to stand for the entire event. The experience was extremely disappointing.

Suisun City, California I ordered ride in advance to be in fifteen minutes, I came to spot earlier than 15 min driver nowhere to be found my account showing driver canceled my ride for no show on hot day in August I ordered again the driver wasn't the one from Lyft photo profile. Got twice charged cancellation fee. I opted no tip since they already took money for no service rendered but they still charged tip. With this kind of running ride sham how they still exist? No more Lyft ride for me I'm removing app.

I ordered a ride for an appointment, for which I absolutely needed to arrive punctually. I was matched with a driver, and he cancelled at the last minute. It was too late for me to make other arrangements, so I had to miss the appointment. Of course, I was furious. To make matters worse, there was no way to report the issue on the app. The app has limited specific issues, about which one can complain. On top of that, there is no way to speak to a person, or report a problem that is not on their limited list. My lord, I absolutely hate that backward organization known as Lyft.

I'd called my Medicaid provider for medical transportation. They couldn't even tell me who was supposed to come get me. I'd had just a general time frame, then no one showed up until maybe fifteen minutes later and left while I was on the phone, only to find out it was somebody from Lyft. I had no number for Lyft, only found out what kind of vehicle to stand around in the frigid cold for at the last minute. Lyft tried to send back the same driver, who'd cancelled to pick up his Kid from McDonald's, the second they'd sent cancelled as well. An hour after my appointment was scheduled for their messaging system had still been attempting to summon a driver. The doctor's office was already closed by that time, and they only give you a ten- minute window to be late before they'll refuse to see you anyhow. Had to cancel and reschedule. Made the breakdown of my car just that much more difficult. They let the drivers cherry- pick whoever or not to pick up. Perhaps just because the fare would be less. Thanks piles, Lyft! Never again...

Tip for consumers:
Poor communication. I'd been told that Lyft would have told me who and in what the driver would be in when they were on their way.

Products used:
None. Never made it to my appointment.

As a Lyft driver, I was given a 25 ride for 320.00 promo. However, Lyft clearly knew that in the Memphis matket there weren't that many people who used the service. I drove 19 hours on one week and could only get 24 rides. In the promo, Lyft stated that what I could not get on my own, Lyft would make up the difference for it. At the end of the day, Lyft didn't keep their word. I had over 90% acceptance of rides; however for one cancellation, Lyft reduced it to 82%. And each time I accepted a ride, they only added +1%. If u know math, theirs is way off. Lyft throws those promotions out there knowing the market is dry and knowing they have no intention of backing their word.

If i could give this app zero stars i would dont call yourself trying to get a ride because you wont get one and if there is a problem you wont be able to speak to a human at all to get anything resolved so if you dont want to lose your money i suggest you dont even waste your time your better off using uber or anything else even walking would be better

We thought to schedule a ride to the airport would save us time in the early morning to go and catch our flight, they allowed us to schedule and confirmed 15 min window to wait outside, unfortunately while we are in the street waiting, the driver canceled the ride and we had to drive our car to the airport and end up paying almost $300 parking fee at the airport parking since Lyft did not help us at all - if scheduling a ride option does not guarantee the ride, why do you have it in the first place?
Will never use Lyft or even Uber again - it was so stressful...

I use Lyft often and recently have had numerous drivers cancel rides when they realize that I'm heading somewhere far such as the airport. Riders get charged a fee for canceling rides due to the inconvenience to the driver. I have had numerous rides recently cancelled which inconvenienced me and left me with significantly longer waits. I think drivers should be penalized and riders should receive ride credits when drivers cancel on them.

They lure you in with fast estimate wait times which turn out to be false. As soon as you place the order the wait time increases. I had an emergency at home so I couldn't wait the real wait time. I IMMEDIATELY called the driver to cancel it. I actually spoke with him. I then received at cancellation fee. I tried to fight it because it was legitimately unfair. They said their records show that the driver showed up and I wasn't there. I wanted to scream. I continued to plead my case, but they do not care. They have zero customer service. This will be their downfall & the reason they will never beat Uber. Really disgusting customer service. It was insulting.

Lyft will steal from you! Do not use their service! Got charged a damage fee due to a fraudulent statement from their driver, Alisal. Received an email stating the were charging me a damage fee for damages I am certain I did not do. When I asked for evidence, they only said they had "anecdotal evidence" which means they had no evidence other than this douchebag's word, but yet they still charged me. You can only communicate through email and once you dispute a charge, they will ignore you. I don't ever complain but you steal from me, I'll be sure to make it known.

Lyft never recognizes their mistakes but only blames customers. I was in rush to to Inari medical, Irvine CA for the first time. Searched 'Inari medical' in Lyft app and it gave me an Irvine address immediately and no alternatives at all. They popped up their result so quickly and in Irvine so I totally trust and select their suggested address. But the address is totally wrong and I have to spend another $20 and 30mins to take another ride to my destination. I asked Lyft for a refund as their address is totally misleading. However, Lyft admits the error but blames me for trusting their research result. They simply say it's their fault but will not do refund at all. Their email customer service is most terrible too. Never carefully read my complaints and answer my questions. Most terrible experience!. I am totally out of Lyft.

Lyft blows! Had free credits and requested a ride within 15 minutes 2 different drivers cancelled. Then the one that was assigned didn't move on the map for20 minutes after saying it would arrive in 5! Cancelled that ride and called Uber who arrived in 3 minutes! Lyft, u had your shot and you blew it!

Charged $55 more than agreed. When I ordered my Lyft, the advertised price was $45. Imagine my surprise when I get an email saying I was charged $102. Even better? When I went to try to dispute the charge, Lyft's website just says "No, no problem here." and provides no way to actually dispute the charge. If this is not illegal, this should be. This is complete theft. The only reason I took Lyft instead of Uber was Uber was $65. This is completely ridiculous and unfair to riders.

I would love it if Lyft were successful, because I think competition is good. Problem is, I think they will fail as Uber provides a much higher level of customer service and is far more professional. Lyft has many issues, but one of them is their 'Primetime' pricing which is calculated in a much more customer unfriendly way than Uber. As an example, if Uber says 'Surge pricing' is 150% it means that if the normal rate is $10, you will pay $15. That makes sense to me. With Lyft, when they say 'Primetime pricing' is 150%, it means that if the normal rate is $10, you will pay $25, that is, nearly double what you would pay on Uber. And in my market, UberX is 20% cheaper than Lyft to begin with. Add in all the attitude with Lyft (fist bumps, I am supposed to be friends with my driver) -- higher prices for an inferior product. Finally, customer service at Lyft is surly and basically non-existent.

Last week I elected a ride share on the way to the airport and about halfway to ATL airport, my driver received a notification that a rider was added. The driver took the next exit so that he could turnaround to go back to where he picked me up so that he could pick up the added rider. Here's what I don't get about Lyft, why would you add a rider that will require the driver to change his direction, like in my case, required the driver to turn-around and head back in the direction opposite from where we were heading? We were already 15 minutes in route and the driver had to turn-around and go back to where he picked me up just to add another rider. Is it not possible to only add riders who are heading in the same direction that the driver is in route to? I was late getting to the airport because he had to turn-around and head back in the opposite direction to pickup a rider. Is this not a simple fix for you guys to make? Seriously, it's a problem that you need to address.

I applied to become a driver with Lyft in Rocklin, CA and completed my appointment with my mentor. She was nice and took my picture and then said all that was left was the background check that would take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. Not even 24 hours later, I got an email saying my application was denied. When I contacted my mentor I could not reach her and was told by Lyft that the mentor appointment is the "make or break moment" and they would not reverse their decision. They also said they could not disclose why it was denied nor could they connect me to a live representative due to safety for drivers and passengers. I will not be recommending Lyft to drivers or passengers and see the process as a complete waste of time.

This company that is supposed to give people another alternative to Uber or Cab Drivers is abominable. The drivers are unprofessional, the customer service is non-existent and when you do get to complain you get a robot that is programmed to supposedly appease you and make you happy by giving you $5.00. Which is totally unprofessional for a National Company like this. My Cat has more professionalism than this company does. Please, please do not use this company if you value your job or your life. I could write a book on do's and do not's for this company just on my experience alone. Again, I urge you to not use this company.

I see I am not the only 1 who experiences the same situations with Lyft. They take forever to pick up the ride. The drivers cancel mid pick up! It's thee worst of the worst. They do it frequently. 5 different drivers pick and cancel the ride. And Lyft prices is beyond ridiculous. I could call a local taxi and get the same set price as expected. Lyft is getting out of hand.

When I first started using Lyft it was cool, lately, as in the last 2 weeks it's been HORRIBLE. I have been double charged for rides because they revert to my card on file even though I have Lyft cash. There IS NO customer service. Everything is in the app and all the issues are generic and useless. The last 2 rides I had to direct the driver because he didn't know The City. Lyft has lost me as a rider. I'm going to use up this Lyft cash and THAT'S IT. WTF LYFT?

I didn't even take a lyft... but had a LYFT driver in a dark Toyota VENZA(short guy) in HAMILTON at Upper Sherman & Mohawk ESSO... literally got out of his vehicle and tried to fight me. Literally came up and pushed me all because I flipped him off for being parked in the lane, blocking the only way in to pull in from the street. Basically this guys dangerous and at this point just hurting your company.

Maybe remind your drivers not to put their hands on people and to admit there faults as drivers.

And if you see this. You know where you were in the wrong. Treat people better, know your mistakes and learn from them, its hella easy

So my cc has a $50 hold because 2 Lyft drivers failed to pick me up on my vacation. I requested one driver and he couldn't find my villa so he claimed to drive to my vacation villa but I was outside the whole time waiting and no driver showed up. The other driver just failed completely and didnt even try to find my villa he stared 8 minutes away and proceeded to go further and further away. Plus they never answered the phone calls so I couldn't give them specific directions because I am staying in a resort. So now I have a $50 hold on my cc and I won't see that money till after my vacation. Good job Lyft for failing. This would of never happened with uber. Oh wait it didn't those drivers were able to communicate and find my villa without a problem. So stay away from Lyft they'll hold your money even if it is their fault.

I had a pick up time at 7am this morning to go and decorate my friend's house who is turning sixty three today and just found out that she is totally cancer free. My Rover is at Harley's shop waiting on parts from Minnesota. I needed a ride from lyft to takeme to her house so I could decorate it... She works nights at Trinity she is a nurse.
That has totally fallen through that makes me just sick. Nobody showed up to pick me up! It was suppose to be a driver named Anthony. I even left him a message last night. Never again!

I use them for the first time and was supposed to get a discount for the first time usage. Instead I got overcharged and charged twice. Totally ruined my trip to Colorado. Not the driver's fault they did what they were supposed to no problem with them. At least I have a number to call and complain unlike Uber. Couldn't use their first time promotion either that's why I went to Lyft
