Lyft has a rating of 1.2 stars from 901 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Lyft most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and phone number problems. Lyft ranks 38th among Car Sharing sites.
So if you're 2 minutes late coming out they can charge you for it. If they are 2+ minutes late picking you up the price sure does not go down. As you're standing in the cold watching them turn around several times etc.
I booked Lyft to pick up a friend first, then me, and finally take us to downtown L.A. At the scheduled arrival time, I received a call from the driver, who informed me he was at my friend's address. However, he gave me a different address that was about 2 miles away. He claimed we were no-shows and said he was leaving. Shortly after, I received a text saying I would be charged $10 for the no-show. The issue is that the app had confirmed the correct pickup and drop-off locations in the proper order, which I documented with a screenshot. It seems the driver may have used this situation to avoid the trip and still collect a $10 fee for a bogus cancellation. Contacting customer service was nearly impossible, and navigating the app to file a complaint was frustrating and time-consuming. After about 15 minutes, I was finally informed that I would be reimbursed the $10. At the very least Lyft should verify ride cancellations with customers before applying charges. Due to the delay, we missed our seats at the concert and had to stand for the entire event. The experience was extremely disappointing.
Basem, driving a White Toyota with plate 8PIR…, routinely cancels rides with disabled riders who have service dogs. This is illegal and Lyft doesn't do anything to discourage this behavior.

Called Uber instead, but was 30 minutes late.
11/17/17 Used Lyft to our destination $19.48... Used Uber on the return $8.58. No reason for the difference. Except the Lyft driver was new & couldn't get his phone to route our destination.
I drive for lyft and the reason I came to lyft is because of the tip option available for riders to click on at the end of the ride to be included on the driver's paycheck. I always drive safely and provide the options of going a bit slower or a bit faster depending on my rider's schedule, I always give the option to stop me at anytime if you need to get something from the store or anything else. I have a 4.96 star overall rating to this date and sometimes my week ends near a 4.98 rating, I have nothing against anyone but it is dissappointing when you realize that the majority of riders don't tip, living in a city where rent is at an all time high and only keeps getting more expensive to live in. Your favorite restaurants/bar service people live based on their tips, isn't it time to stop and think for a moment and think how would you make a living out of the same thing I do, day in and day out and dealing with many intoxicated people that bring my rating down from times even though I babysit them and make sure they make it all the way in their home/apt. Please tip your driver's if he takes good care of you. Plus in the washington dc area per an email I just got it better for riders, since you will be saving 50% off rides during the week not weekends, can you find it somewhere in your heart to tip since you'll be saving more compared to uber, please.:-) I tip all my service people when I am out and about. I used to be a barback, clerk at a lawfirm, and it is just the right thing to do. Uber drivers now rate their customers 4 stars when they dont tip
I have been using Lyft for years. However I am no longer going to use this company and I find that they don't give a damn about their riders. On July 1st I took a lift home from Tempe Arizona and it was my birthday weekend however I fell ill at my birthday celebration and needed to come home. Long story short I left my birthday cards in the Lyft and I have been trying since July 2nd to have my stuff returned. I understand there is a lost and found policy however these were things given to me as birthday gifts. The driver was supposedly contacted twice and he stated that he returned my gifts and I was not charged a fee for his Drive. That was a complete lie he knows it, and I know it. He made out with $110 worth of Lottery scratchers cash and a gift card. I sent over 32 correspondents to Lyft going back and forth in reference to that just asking them to please make it right, and even credit me on rides and it was the same song and dance that they gave in reference to their policy and contacting the driver. I will never use Lyft again, and I will solely use Uber. I hope that driver felt great about himself because it's not the money aspect but the birthday cards and what those cards said in them but hey he got what he got and he lied so screw Lyft!
I have two holds on two of my credit cards totaling $30. The first hold has been on for 7 days. My charges amount to $1.50 on 2 services that I had $5. Credits on each. The original charges were $6.50 -$5. Credit= $1.50. They ran the charges through for $15. Each. They state that's their policy.
I'm a senior on a fixed income. I can't afford to have money in my accounts on hold for no good reason. I paid my bill and the charges they process should be what people owe. Beware your accounts will be processed for more than the amount of your actual bill and you'll have to wait for 5 business days to access money they've put a hold on. If your service is on a weekend count those days over and above the 5 because they're not business days. Also their GPS'S take the longest, even out of the way routes. They don't work properly and even the driver's complain about them. I had to instruct my driver on a short trip how to not go out of the way like his GPS was showing. Instead of being picked up in front of my address the car was sitting across my condo parking lot in front of nobody's specific address. I walked over to the car in the rain.
WARNING! WARNING!
To ALL drivers. I was promised a bonus if I made 100 pickups and they refused to give it to me! Are there others who have similar complaints?
Been driving for lyft already for 5yrs. However recently Lyft started garnishing my wages. I tried to contact CS and you cannot speak or call CS only through chat. Finally a person said my garnishment was due to child support. I payed and finished paying child support and then 3 years ago I became the custodial parent and started receiving child support. Long story short I contacted the CS office and they informed me that my case had been closed 3yrs and I did not owe they actually send me back a check for my back pay. I DONT RECOMMEND ANYONE DRIVE FOR LYFT. Unless you wanna pay someone else child support.
I had been charged $67 just for 7 kilometers ride. No one pick up phone and no email replies, worst taxi company

Is it possible to give them 0 stars?
1) It seems to be impossible to get them go honor their $20 off your first ride promotion despite 2 days worth of emails back and forth.
2) I used the app to get a ride on a 110 degree day. Their app told me that my location was somwhere that I had never been and I got a message "Your GPS location does not correspond with your location" WTF? If you know my GPS location YOU KNOW WHERE I AM YOU CRETINS! And if you are still confused have a driver call or text me!
Needless to say I will never use them again. Oh and if anyone from UBER is reading this, I have a copy of my email correspondence with them and you are welcome to have it and use it in a comercial.
So I've been using lyft for awhile. When I need to take my puppy to the vet or want to take him to the dog park I ride lyft. Since, I can't take my dog in the bus. I had no problems taking my dog in the car. The drivers are always so nice saying my dog is so cute and they never seen anything like him. And pet him. BUT today on 1/26/17 I decided to take my dog to the park. I opened up the app & the driver was on the way. I was waiting for almost 10 mins then he cancelled my ride. Then another driver got called he was on his way already. He came & picked up my small dog! (I always put my dog on my lap btw) he asked if it it was a service dog & im like no. & very very rudely he didn't want to take me & said "nahh I'm not gonna take you " in the most rude & disgusting tone ever. He didn't even said sorry. He drove off very quickly. I couldn't believe it. This wasted almost an hour of my time. I always thought lyft was pet friendly till this happened. He was very very mean. Very unacceptable! Then I called in uber & kindly the driver let me & my dog in. Not like that nasty man from lyft
Cancel rides 4 times took a one hour to go 3 miles and had to dispute charges on my credit card. What ever happen to taxis
They said I cancelled a ride which I didn't so Lyft kept trying to charge my card Lyft is so petty they charge me 5 cancelled fee which I didn't cancel and plus 4.82 I will never use Lyft again
Why is it every time I call for a lift? I get f***? If you don't know where the f*** you're going with a GPS, STOP $#*!IN DRIVING! I'm not trying to sound racist with this next statement, But if you don't know where the f*** y** at or where the f*** y** going, Stop driving mother$#*!ing lift!
I just quit lyfting today because I got a ride that sent me out of town to pick up a passenger and on the way dropping the passenger off my phone lost signal. When it regained after about 10 minutes the ride disappeared. Meanwhile, the passenger was still in my car so I try refreshing several times, as well as having the passengers, send me the ride over again, since it didn't refresh after that didn't work I pulled over to the side of the road because we was on the highway. I reached out to customer service, which is only a messaging system, and they told me to do the same things that I just did, once I did that nothing happened. Meanwhile, the passenger is still in my car, so yes, I took the passenger to his destination and when I reach back out to customer service I was never compensated for the ride so I wasted my time and gas and they told me that it was nothing they could do about it since it was marked as I canceled the ride, but I never canceled a ride my phone lost signal and never would connect me back to the passenger even though he was in my backseat this is very unprofessional and unreasonable I highly don't recommend lyfe for drivers if anything I'll recommend them to passengers because they get free rides.
After using Lyft the first time, I gave them a 4 star review. However, a week later I felt that I had to come back on and give a 1 star review. I guess the first time I used Lyft I must have just lucked out that there was a Driver 10 minutes away. I have tried to use Lyft 12 times since then and there is NEVER any Drivers available. I tried to contact the Driver that I got the first time that I used Lyft that lives 3 blocks away and he told me "I'm sorry, but I only like to do trips that are at least $50"... So, I have to say that for me LYFT gets a huge thumbs down as the only way I could use it is if I'm willing to pay a minimum of $50 no matter how short the ride is and since there's only one Lyft Driver any where in my area I'd have to be willing to wait an hour or two for him to show up... I tried to contact that same driver a second time as I was willing to pay $50 for a ride due to being in a desperate situation and he didn't even have enough decency or respect to ever respond. Anyone with a tiny bit of class would at least text back "Sorry, I am not available" or something... But this guy just totally ignored me... He should just get a job with Yellow Cab where all the other Low life degenerates work! LOL
From the start this Lyft rider was very rude and angry at me because my GPS froze and She was complaining that she was getting late for work and still needs to drop off her child somewhere. Yelling at me and swearing obscenities at me, I felt so nervous and I decided to pull over the side and politely asked her to find another ride. The more she got very upset while trying to open the exit car door, she grabbed a bottled soda and sprayed it all over me and the car then tossed the bottle towards face and upper extremities, half of my body had gotten soaked from the sticky drink and even face became swollen and my eyes were in pain. When she tried to continue assaulting me, her child tried to move towards her and I accidentally tapped his shoulder. Mother started screaming stating I hurt the child. To make the story short, she immediately called Lyft and reported that I physically harmed the child. I also called Lyft support to report the incident but it seems like they were giving me the runaround by passing my phone call from one staff to the other until to my surprise I receive a message from their safety person telling me in a harsh way that I'm being permanently deactivated as a driver without listening to both sides I was accused of physically assaulting a child. I was not given the chance to explain that I was the victim. I sent a letter to Lyft that the rider was a liar because I did not hurt anybody and I'm just defending my self. To sum it all up, I am now very anxious and depressed for a senior citizen military retired like me was disrespected and humiliated. I don,t think Lyft is ever going to listen to both sides of the incident now reason why I'm writing this statement to warn other ride share drivers to be careful and fight for our rights.
All over me
What i saw on TV with that scambag stealing a dog, even cought on camera he lied that the dog run away. He needs to bring back that dog now. And this Lyft Company shuld be shut down.
The customer service agents should do humanity some service by quitting their jobs and working for what's more suitable to their self interests. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Any stars above 0 is a scam.
On August 9,2023 at around about 2:42am I ordered a Lyft and kept trying to call the driver but he never will answer the call because I was trying to see where he's at and the driver never picked up me and my grandkids… So I had to order another Lyft to pick us up same location and drop off location the same as the first driver… That first driver put in like if he picked us up and he did not I even showed the second driver how many times I tried calling the first driver to see where he's at… That second driver said that's probably why he have a 2.8 ratings because he probably been doing the same thing to other customers, I put in a dispute and haven't heard anything back from Lyft, but when I ago on the app talking about they see nothing wrong with that ride… Like what I know they can clearly see that that driver neverrrrr picked up and I had to order another they trying to basically just take my money for a trip that never happened, Uba is the first driver that never picked us up
I have promo $50 for each ride $10 off however it does not allow me to redeem the points and when you try to complain no answer
