Lyft has a rating of 1.2 stars from 902 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Lyft most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and phone number problems. Lyft ranks 38th among Car Sharing sites.
So if you're 2 minutes late coming out they can charge you for it. If they are 2+ minutes late picking you up the price sure does not go down. As you're standing in the cold watching them turn around several times etc.
I booked Lyft to pick up a friend first, then me, and finally take us to downtown L.A. At the scheduled arrival time, I received a call from the driver, who informed me he was at my friend's address. However, he gave me a different address that was about 2 miles away. He claimed we were no-shows and said he was leaving. Shortly after, I received a text saying I would be charged $10 for the no-show. The issue is that the app had confirmed the correct pickup and drop-off locations in the proper order, which I documented with a screenshot. It seems the driver may have used this situation to avoid the trip and still collect a $10 fee for a bogus cancellation. Contacting customer service was nearly impossible, and navigating the app to file a complaint was frustrating and time-consuming. After about 15 minutes, I was finally informed that I would be reimbursed the $10. At the very least Lyft should verify ride cancellations with customers before applying charges. Due to the delay, we missed our seats at the concert and had to stand for the entire event. The experience was extremely disappointing.
I was a driver for Lyft for four years.5.0 rating and over ******* rides.i was terminated from the Lyft platform because I passenger for some reason said I texted her and sent inappropriate video.for one you can never get the passengers real number so the only way that would have happened is if she gave me her actual number.and Lyft said it was elidged.how can a company fire someone with no prouf and say it was elidged. But you know God always has a plan.I would not recommend anyone driving for Lyft, there a joke and they dont pay you enough for what you deal with.
I recently took a Lyft home from the airport. My driver picked us up, put our suitcases into her trunk. My roommate and I went to the back seats of the car. Sat quietly until we arrived at our destination. The driver then took the suitcases out of her vehicle. Said goodbye to us and went on her way. The next day I get an email with an additional $150 charge on top of my ride fee with the driver complaining of vehicle damage. I strongly believe these were prior marks and she is trying to get money out of it. There was no chance of damages to the exterior of her vehicle being from my ride.
After scheduling my Lyft ride for today at 9:15 last night. I waited outside for 45 minutes just to have them text me and tell me that they don't have a ride or anything area. So I missed my flight at LaGuardia and now I have to wait 10 hours for another flight. Not only did it cost me an extra hundred dollars to try and take a taxi to get there on time but now I have to sit in the airport for 10 hours never again would never ever use them.!
I had a ride with a driver less than five minutes from my home. The driver lied and said my mother and I damaged his vehicle. He put my mother's walker in and out of his vehicle do how did we damage his vehicle. The driver knows how much he was getting before he picked us up, if it was less than what he wanted he should have not taken the ride. Scamming customers is not the way to go. I have reached out to Lyft about getting information about the damage and no one has reached back out. Giving someone money because they say so is not professional! I deserve my money back because if they look at the records they can see that no driver has ever claimed I damaged their vehicle! Please check your payments before giving your stars.
Im a driver and lyft could care less about helping me out after a customer leaves feces in my front seat. They only gave me $150 for the damage and after 4 days of me trying to get immediate help they tell me they cant help me anymore and wont give me the customers personal information so I can file a civil suit against him. I also had taken my car into the dealership the next morning and they emailed lyft a quote for my seat to be replaced and to get a car rental but lyft just ignores me. I cant stand how lyft supports us drivers or customers. They are very inconsiderate. Let me poop in their car and have it get stuck in the little holes of my leather front seat. And see how it feels.
I signed up to be a driver in hoped of getting a $1,000 bonus. I applied minutes after receiving the invitation, and I was able to log into the system as a driver and was approved hours to drive on the afternoon of March 5th. Mysteriously I was not "approved" to drive until the 7th, got a welcome email, picked up my first ride. Minutes later the email came through that I didn't qualify for the promo. Of course, they never intended to pay. It was all a sham. I will not deal with such a company that would stoop to this level. They know background checks take time and organized this whole thing so they would pay very few drivers. I will stick to Uber, who can keep a promise!
If you like having your money stolen and not returned - this is the company for you.
Bunch of greedy grinches who like to illegally retain funds auto-refilled (despite cancellation). Pieces of excrement... the kind you'll throw out a pair of shoes over after mistepping.
Managers are also unwilling to sort such issues.

Where do I start? First, more times than not. The driver is always across the street or down the road. Everywhere but where Im waiting. It's not my service I live in a big city near main criss streets second I've never used luxury service through lyft but yet get charged or somehow charged it. I find as many miscellaneous charges as real charges. Mainly though you can never reach a real person. I've sent many emails only to get ignored. So if I had it to do over I would never ever use lyft again. Whoever these people are. They are crooks. I'm not even sure it's anything more than computerized. Like I said no one has proven different. #stayaway$
I was left stranded in sfo airport by Lyft. Followed their instructions (door 4, international terminal, area 14, second curbe) just to see the driver heading for the national arrivals and insisting I was not there (no I was not, I was on the point they requested). In a second call my ride was transferred three times for different drivers (and we are talking about a $130 ride). At that point I just called Uber.
Bonus is a scam. They ask you to sign up then enroll you in the 30 day bonus. Guess what? After you sign up, it takes 120+ days to go through the background check that they make you go through. Even after the sign up and everything you can delete your account accidentally by trying to add a new phone number to your account! Which means you will be deactivated with their service and can no longer drive until the background check clears again which can take another 4 months plus! It's not worth driving for Lyft.
Many riders and drivers say the app randomly cancels trips while drivers are on the way or at the destination. This morning they cancelled 5 drivers on me. I was late when I reserved a ride 5 hours prior. I decided to try Uber and got a ride instantly.
Tip for consumers:
The customer service is terrible compared to Uber as well

Lfyt refuse to give me back my refund after I cancel after literally 2 mins. I've called four times to reconcile the issues. They say it was refunded... oh really!? I have notifications set up with my bank. I didnt receive no notifications. So sad I've been using lfyt for 3 years and spend at least 15 dollars a month. But I'm done they can keep that money... I'm going with uber which is a better company set up. Check the reviews and stats
Last night was New Year's Eve. We caught a lyft to our concert so we wouldn't be drinking and driving. Paid $24.74 which was responsible. After New Year's I went to select someone to take us home and the price had jumped to over $96. They should feel ashamed of themselves for doing that to people. I've deleted the app and will never use it again. People trying to do the right thing shouldn't be gouged like that. I understand bumping the price but not almost four times. Horrible company and I hope they go out of business.
I started using lyft because i thought it would be cheaper from my house to my job usually it would cost me $8.50 with uber which is fine with me. When i started using lyft they started charging me $17.50 from my house to my job thats crazy! My work place isn't far away 15 mins to be exact. Sometimes i have people that can't get to my destination and when i call them to give them directions they get mad and give me this attitude. Not my fault you don't know how to follow your GPS. Lyft SUCKS and i will most definitely not use this app anymore. DELETED!
App asks for backup payment. Entered and it takes cards. Added bank account. Fine done. Go to book a ride asks for backup payment method again and again and again. Fed up took Uber. Works every time with Uber. Lyft app broken. No problems with Lyft until this week. Lyft customer service pathetic!
I have used Uber and Lyft until this past year. In my opinion, Uber is a far better option. Its always cheaper (although often not by much). In my area there are dozens of drivers available within minutes with Uber while Lyft, having fewer drivers takes at least 15 minutes to arrive. The Uber drivers have nicer cars, Lyft is a toss up. Most are nice, many are notand you have no choice about your ride until it arrives. Twice I have gotten stuck with Lyft cars that wreak of cigarette smoke and dozens of times my driver does not speak ANY English. I live in Texas! Furthermore, Lyft drivers have dropped my ride because they cant find mewhich means I have a new driver and start my wait all over again. Thats frustrating, to say the least. Lastly, Lyft is constantly sending me offers. I mean, daily until I adjusted my mail settings. The offers sound good, but they rarely are what they seem. Customer Service is terrible. The Lyft drivers expect a tip on top of pay.
I would never use or recommend Lyft to anyone. I have been trying to recoup my monies since Sept. 2016. Lyft illegally charged my account 177.00 for rides I never used. I was in possession of my card. I shut it down immediately card and lyft. Lyft has nor been helpful in resolving this problem.
Lyft is stealing my money through holds. They charge a hold and then don't give it back. I use Lyft everyday and can't afford the charges they charge and after they inconvenience me they don't give me credits to help cover the money they stole. They have been keeping the money they hold on my account and I'm not OK with that. It is stealing.
What a bunch of cowboys. Sorry that is an insult to the hard working cowboys and cowgirls.
1. They cancel a ride. But you have no reconciliation. You cancel a ride and 'bam' you are charged. Even if they cannot provide a for the time you requested.
2. You book in advance and 'bam' again. A ride that used to cost me 12-15 dollars now charged at 25 dollars plus.
Switched to Uber after three months of using them everyday and they started pulling fast ones.
I applied to be a Lyft driver after they put me through all of the BS to get registered with them they come back and tell me that I'm not eligible because I have a ticket from 2 years ago. What they don't know is that ticket was thrown out but they don't care that's okay Uber wanted me go to hell lift
This company charged me a $20 fee claiming that I ruined something in his car. Some water spilled on a rubber car mat, he took it out of the car and poured it off (about 1/2 cup). We offered to dry it for him as it was noticed when getting out of the car. He declined and said everything was fine. I tried to dispute the charge - they had not sent me any photos or proof and when I insisted, they sent me some bogus pictures and claimed that these charges are to help the drivers keep their cars clean from dirt, sand etc. I was wearing brand new flats at an indoor sports arena - no dirt. They absolutely refused to help me and sided completely with the driver. I'm removing the app from my phone and promise to use Uber now for everything. It wasn't the $20, it was the entire principle. I felt like I was being dismissed and scammed as a customer. I will NEVER use Lyft again.
I requested a ride from Lyft never got picked up the driver started the ride and ended it and I got charged for it and my money needs to go back to my account I will be disputing the ride I never got in the car this is uncalled for and ridiculous
I've used lyft here and there for years and haven't really had a problem up until now. I recently used them on my friends birthday, and a week later I noticed two extra charges on my card from them. I tired to dispute it. One charge was for $5.00 and the other was for $12.90. While trying to dispute it, they sent me a receipt from a ride I got in 2015, three years ago and already charged on an entirely different card, and tried saying that was one of the charges in question for $5.00. They never sent any proof of the $12.90 charge. Ultimately, they told me they couldn't refund me simply because they were made from my account, even though they showed me actual proof that one was a double charge from 3 years ago, and no proof of the other. I will no longer be using their services ever again.
I have used Lyft 200+ times in the past 18 months. Recently their web started refusing my credit card information, a problem they admitted was theirs, although they insisted I snapshot whatever it was saying when it refused and send to them. The idiots couldn't understand it wasn't saying ANYTHING and I repeatedly requested they call me, which they never did. It merely refused the info. I gave up on the 6th email and deleted my account. They'll be bankrupt soon with idiots like this working for them
The driver never showed up and then canceled and I got charged. I then tried to get another Lyft and the same scammer accepted, saying he was there. Long story short, they charged me twice and there's no number to reach them at. Such a ridiculous business.
