Lyft has a rating of 1.2 stars from 901 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Lyft most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and phone number problems. Lyft ranks 38th among Car Sharing sites.
So if you're 2 minutes late coming out they can charge you for it. If they are 2+ minutes late picking you up the price sure does not go down. As you're standing in the cold watching them turn around several times etc.
I booked Lyft to pick up a friend first, then me, and finally take us to downtown L.A. At the scheduled arrival time, I received a call from the driver, who informed me he was at my friend's address. However, he gave me a different address that was about 2 miles away. He claimed we were no-shows and said he was leaving. Shortly after, I received a text saying I would be charged $10 for the no-show. The issue is that the app had confirmed the correct pickup and drop-off locations in the proper order, which I documented with a screenshot. It seems the driver may have used this situation to avoid the trip and still collect a $10 fee for a bogus cancellation. Contacting customer service was nearly impossible, and navigating the app to file a complaint was frustrating and time-consuming. After about 15 minutes, I was finally informed that I would be reimbursed the $10. At the very least Lyft should verify ride cancellations with customers before applying charges. Due to the delay, we missed our seats at the concert and had to stand for the entire event. The experience was extremely disappointing.
I use a walker and a wheelchair, when I use my wheelchair chair and lyft drivers see it some refuse and leave me,it fits in the back of any vehicle
My 13 year old grand daughter comes with me to pick up the wheelchair
I asked the last lyft driver to help my grand daughter with the wheelchair and she told us she doesn't pick up wheelchairs so I help my grand daughter both times while she watched with her phone in her hand
Whe We reached our destination I had to help her get the wheelchair out while she watched with her phone in her hand
Then she said we scratch the rental and it's 200 dollars
And I told her we didn't and I don't have 200 dollars
Lyft took the money out of my account in 20 minutes while am trying desperately to reach there customers service number to speak to someone
I know this woman was living and scamming us
Lyft never call or reach out to me to find out what happen
Tip for consumers:
A few lyft drivers leave us when they see the wheelchair but the ones who help us with the wheelchair we tip 15 to 20 dollars
THE DRIVER MOHAMMED HAVE ACCESS TO MY CREDIT CARD ACOUNT, HE TIP HIMSELF $5 ON A $6 RIDE AND GIVE HIMSELF 5 STAR REVIEW ON MY ACCOUNT! SO THEY STEAL ON MY CREDIT CARD! HOW HE CAN DO THAT? I CLOSE MY ACCOUNT.

I'm a single mom of 2, I don't have my own car yet. I tried lyft and they scammed me out of over $40. Apparently close but not at my location was the full $10+$5. Then another $20+$5 from another who I could hardly even understand, and he was very disrespectful. I contacted Lyft for help and apparently there is no main line to get ahold of anyone just messaging threw the app. The "Customer service" representative threw the app was disrespectful, I was told that 809 was the address the driver went to when I am located at 808. I was waiting outside in the heat with my 2-year-old for 45 mins. The two $5.99 fee was from the gas the lyft drives just driving 2 miles to not pick up their customers. I had to order ANOTHER lyft which cost me ANOTHER $20 after standing in the heat. After all that I deleted my account and will never use this crap again. No money as the "Customer service rep" said was or has yet to be returned to my account, excluding the four $5.99 charges I guess because the scammers needed to be paid for their time. It's been over 2 weeks. I don't need to prove this because they know what they do and did. I hope they get what's coming to the fast and stop f*ing people over.
It cost me almost $400 a week to get back and forth to work so my boss was getting lift cards for me and also got me Uber cards well somebody I let use my gift card cancel the ride I didn't mind the $5 cancellation fee but they kept the $22 and told me they couldn't refund it back on my gift card so I'm not going to do that again but I want my $22 back and nobody's getting back to me so now I'm out $22 and the $5 cancellation fee they are a rip off $50 to get home when Uber only charges me 26 dollars
I requested a lyft May 4, I had no food when entering the driver side of the car. Driver show food on the floor on passenger side of the car. And scribble on the door handle.
My ride was for 5-6mins we made no stops and now Lyft wants to charge me 150.00 for damages.
I sent proof that I did not have any food when I left my house and that I did not ride on the passenger side of the car. The driver clearly can no prove this was me, however I can prove I did not do this but they will not over turn the charges... I am glad I only keep my card open for the charge that it is intended for therefore they did not get to charge my card the 150.00 but have the charge sitting on my account. If I were to request a ride they stated I would need to pay the 150.00 that I am not responsible for. Now that you see that your driver is a liar and he lied that I made this mess, you need to investigate your driver, because clearly he is making false accusations. I gave a 1 star only because there was no way for me to give a negative star
Tip for consumers:
I will start taking pictures before I get in any Lyft or Uber.

My issue with Lyft relates to the experience that I had a couple of nights ago.
I needed a ride to the store on the corner. It is less than a mile and normally I would walk. But it was raining and I needed some medicine.
When the driver picked me up, his stereo was up very loud. I take a seat and immediately saw that his windshield was shattered. This wasn't a crack... it was a spiderweb shatter in the center spanning out over the entire windshield. This worried me that not only was his view obstructed but also that it was dangerous.
On top of that, he was texting while driving checking for his next fare I assume (glancing up and down through the cracked windshield while driving in the rain).
This short 2 block dangerous ride was still $7.
I contacted Lyft who responded they "take reports like this very seriously but do not offer refunds".
They might be very slightly cheaper than Uber but at least Uber would have communicated better and offered a refund or credit for the next ride.
I used Lyft 3 times this week and this was my only complaint due to safety and they emailed a generic copy/paste response and told me that I should have requested another ride. However I was standing in the rain, was unaware of the windshield/loud music until I sat down, and did not know he would be staring at his phone while driving.
Some would say that I should have brought my concerns to the driver's attention. I tried... but the driver did not speak English. He just nodded, smiled, and laughed.
I don't like Uber so I try to use Lyft whenever I can. Lyft's $5 hot spots make it easier because they are usually cheaper than anything else Uber can offer.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use Lyft Line if you're in a hurry. It can take a long time.
Completed a ride and lyft refused to pay me. Chat with them because there is no customer service number and I was told that there is not enough data to pay me.
Used to ride with Uber, now choose to ride with Lyft. Drivers are friendly, helpful and very professional. Plus a lot more reasonable in price, Highly recommend!

I would not recommend this service for the following reasons; Lyft automatically place a $25 hold on your account upon signing up. That hold will tie up your funds for about 7 days. Subsequently they place the $25 hold on your account whenever you login to the app rather you request a ride or not. Again the hold will tie up your funds for about 7 days. When you have an issue with their service and use the "help" options you will get a general automated response and that's it. No one will call you no one will respond via email. So they essentially take your money and don't respond to your request for review of the charges. I downloaded the app and once I found out about the holds I deleted the app. Months later I started to get emails urging me to use a free ride before it expired. On the last day for the free ride to expire, they posted charges to my card totaling $75. When I requested a review and refund... crickets! No way to call and talk to a human and they totally did not respond at all. Stay away from this company.
A ride I take everyday to and from work that cost me 7 and some change with uber cost me 10 40 with lyft going the same route I will just stick with uber
There is no way to speak or email support and any support through the app is limited.
The poor support model makes the service untrustworthy and unmanageable.
They didn't want to make money. All it would have taken was a phone call but they would not even do that. I have never seen people that don't want money.
Use Uber all the time. Tried using lyft for the first time. Can not enter where the hell I want to go. Tried five times. Will. Not. Take. So frustrating. Bye bye lyft.
I normally never write a bad review but, his time I need to. The location of my home was never a problem for previous drivers. Recently the drivers have not been able to find my house. It might be a G. P.S. Issue. I watched the progress map as the driver passed my house. I contacted the driver, to tell her my exact location. She began yelling at me and wouldn't stop. I didn't take the ride. I hope I don't get charged another cancellation fee after that abuse. About two months ago I scheduled a ride by error. I immediately called the driver to cancel, but I was charged a cancellation fee anyway. Some of the drivers are very rude, you never know what you're in for.
I would not take Lyft if I were you. The service is unreliable. My experience with customer service is so-so. I requested a call back and their system called me and put me on hold blasting the most irritating music ever. The first person I spoke with was attentive and apologetic. He transferred me over to the billing department for a refund on the previous ride. I spoke with a truly snippy brat and she, of course, patronized me and denied me a refund. Lyft was a good service at first. I don't know what's happened. If you can get another ride, you should do so.
Tip for consumers:
Don't
Never use lyft- they deduct $25 extra as hold, say they refund $25, but they never refund it, I am in loss of $100 still they give no $#*! on the issue
They promised a $350 for the first 160 rides but they never give it to you. They invented a lot of excuses to not give u the bonus. Do not work for them the $350 it's just a scam
Don't drive for Lyft there lying thiefs that only care about taking 20 % of your hard earned earnings and don't appreciate the drivers that work for them It's been 2 weeks and I haven't got paid for the rides I've completed its been frustrating for me since they don't have a working phone number you have to email them to get a late response they gave me the run around saying my money was quede and there engineer's where working to solve the problem so I can get paid it's been 2 weeks still no pay I'm done with them and I will never drive for them again I don't know how there still in business stealing people's hard earned money it's funny how they promote you can make 1,500 a week it's a lie you'll be lucky if you make 400 a week
I was online in the Lyft application for 29 hours in my first week and was paid $351.15. I also received tips in the amount of $46.38. However, I incurred a gasoline expense in the amount of $167.36 driving a 2008 Suzuki SUV with a six cylinder engine. If I subtract the $167 gasoline expense from the $351 that Lyft paid me, I earned $184 for a 29 hour work week or $6.34 per hour. However, I didn't earn $6.34 per hour because I paid for the automobile, the maintenance on the vehicle, and the insurance and it is therefore impossible to know how much less than $6.34 per hour I actually earned. Furthermore, it is entirely possible that I actually worked for free and may have even paid Lyft to work for them because the automobile is very expensive, the insurance is very expensive, and the maintenance is another significant expense.
The management at Lyft has to be privately laughing at how they successfully con the drivers and riders and the public. And, the U.S. Congress has to be doing the same thing while they argue that they are protecting the public. Right, and they also argue that they are not taking bribes from companies like Lyft and Uber to circumvent the U.S. labor laws.
I think people need to think about taking a taxi because this company is priced ridiculous. How are elderly suppose to pay this kind of money to get to doctor appts. Very badly run!
Driver no show and we get charged cancelation fees for driver no show. We get charged $5 for driver changing their mind?
Sooooooo I've been a Lyft rider for several years, but all of a sudden tonight when I want to request a ride it books my ride, but THEN tells me to create a new account. So I got charged my ride fair, plus a cancellation fee and when contacting Lyft they wanted to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it except tell me that I have to pay the cancellation fee. So $#*! this service and their customer service people. It's time to move to Uber.
I'm done! Used Lyft 4 years.In past month leaving store 2x waited 8P to 11P. Doctors ofc done at 2:30 P Lyft comes@ 6:30P.
Ofc Mgr had to stay with me after closing. Dr will only allow morning appts now. And they are starting Lyft Health? Thats scarey! I sure wish I Did have photos bc I am totally crackin pissed. Never again.
The actual Lyft service is convenient and somewhat reliable (I'd give the actual service a 4). However, I was erroneously charged 3 times for a single ride and then I realized how terrible Lyft's customer service is. They are the only company I have encountered that doesn't have a phone number for basic customer service issues. They instead force you to go through emails, which they essentially completely ignore. EVEN COMCAST HAS A PHONE NUMBER (granted that phone number is one of the more useless phone numbers in existence). Simply put, a business can't operate in this fashion and, unless they change things, they are going to always lose to Uber. I had been using Lyft very consistently for months before the charges happened. I will now never use it again. I hope some other people see these reviews and figure this out before something shady happens to them (for some reason I assumed Lyft had great customer service before I actually had to deal with it). Lastly, their website tells you, if you see charges you don't think are correct, NOT to dispute the charge with your bank before they get a chance to figure it out. This request is both strange and ridiculous; its strange because Ive never encountered this stance from a company before (they go as far as to tell you to withdraw your dispute if you already filed one) and its ridiculous because they ask you to not dispute it while simultaneously having absolutely nonexistent customer service. Get your "stuff" together Lyft.
