Lyft has a rating of 1.2 stars from 901 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Lyft most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and phone number problems. Lyft ranks 38th among Car Sharing sites.
So if you're 2 minutes late coming out they can charge you for it. If they are 2+ minutes late picking you up the price sure does not go down. As you're standing in the cold watching them turn around several times etc.
I booked Lyft to pick up a friend first, then me, and finally take us to downtown L.A. At the scheduled arrival time, I received a call from the driver, who informed me he was at my friend's address. However, he gave me a different address that was about 2 miles away. He claimed we were no-shows and said he was leaving. Shortly after, I received a text saying I would be charged $10 for the no-show. The issue is that the app had confirmed the correct pickup and drop-off locations in the proper order, which I documented with a screenshot. It seems the driver may have used this situation to avoid the trip and still collect a $10 fee for a bogus cancellation. Contacting customer service was nearly impossible, and navigating the app to file a complaint was frustrating and time-consuming. After about 15 minutes, I was finally informed that I would be reimbursed the $10. At the very least Lyft should verify ride cancellations with customers before applying charges. Due to the delay, we missed our seats at the concert and had to stand for the entire event. The experience was extremely disappointing.
Drivers are idiots who leave when I'm standing there waiting and then charged me a no show fee! When called again, and they were 3 min away, they canceled my ride. FU Lyft. You're useless and I'll only use Uber from now on.
Never a problem.
I have been trying over a week to get a account set up to drive for this company! No support at all same old bull$#*! automated responses and now they deactivated me! I still don't know what I could've done to fix my application. Absolutely pathetic!
Update: Like magic, 10 minutes after I left this review and contacted Lyft legal, I got a call from the driver. So I changed this from one star to three stars out of fairness.
My son left his Airpods case in a Lyft in NYC. We immediately contacted Lyft customer service who confirmed that the driver found the Airpods case in the backseat where my son was sitting. However, the driver never responded to my attempt to coordinate recovery even though I was willing to pay the required $15 service charge. I then contacted Lyft customer service and they basically said too bad. Not their problem. Apparently, Lyft is ok hiring thieves as drivers. Beware.
Uber is so much better then Lyft also the always have the app take the longest route possible when the toll roads are much faster and I don't mind paying for the tolls just don't understand it also they have the worst drivers possible it's crazy how this happens they pick up rides then cancel when they are 2 minutes away when they have already driven 10 minutes what is the since in that please advise me
I have read some of Lyft reviews I to have had to wait for them to pick me up, but they go to the wrong place. They call me and ask me where I am, I tell I'm at the address I gave you. This happened three times... Another thing to, some of the male drivers smell like Pot. I know it's legal now, but it's putting passengers in danger. And some are very rude. Lyft should have a back round check. I hopefully will not need Lyft again.
I am a Lyft driver and I constantly get harasssed by Lyft representatives. After I lodged complaints, I started getting adverse reactions from Lyft. They abused their powers to trick me into such a situation where I cant drive for no fault of mine. Then again when I call, they keep harassing me over the phone for 30 minutes. They are so f***** up that they dont even keep the communication record in their system so that they dont get caught at a later time. They will force you to things thats technically illegal and might cost you massive amounts of monetary fine. If you dont listen to them, they will start harassing you.
My husband was driving for Lyft in February and was hit by a drunk driver. Fortunately he was ok, but his vehicle was totaled. After trying to call Lyft for 2 days, we finally reached someone and was set up with a claims person who kept in touch for a week or so and then NOTHING... this claim is still not resolved. It has been 3 months! My husband has emailed, called, left messages constantly this entire time and no one will return his calls or emails.
TIme to hire an attorney)!
One driver name Angelo his a thief he pick me up at work trop me at home that is only 10 miles what he did he change the whole address so he can over charge my account from $7.75 to $23.77 that's a lot lyft customer service very poor
DONT drive Lyft. Listen to these negative reviews. They're true. They keep 50%-75% of riders fee, scam people w bonus zones that don't work, have no customer support (amongst other negatives)...The only reason I've even partially continued to drive Lyft is for the scheduled rides; however they now managed to screw that up w their so-called update to the scheduled rides screen. It is awful & doesn't work...Pay drivers squat, charge riders tons, app suks. Where is all the $ going, Lyft?!?
Tip for consumers:
Lyft consistently answers all negative reviews & inquiries with: We now give drivers the ability to see how much they'll get paid for the ride (not helpful, irrelevant I know up front or at the end that you're paying drivers 23$ to pick someone up 8 minutes away, then drive them to their destination 45 min away). They also give the 'our drivers make ___$ per hr'. Those are bogus figures, made to appear like this is a job making 25$, 30$ an hour. It's an insult to people's intelligence.
I'm a disabled veteran
My apt building was going through extensive renovations and I had to relocate to a nearby hotel.
Five days prior to my relocation. I created a Lyft account, downloaded the app, verified my cell phone and submitted my billing information. Everything seemed fine.
The day of my relocation. I tried to schedule a pick up time and I was told I needed to submit a secondary bank card.
What an a**** move. I was not informed of this not until the last minute and had to scramble for alternative transportation.
Customer service has been completely useless
Their approach is "RTFM"
They just copy & paste instructions instead of providing hands on assistance, correcting the problem while accessing my account.

I was sent in my personal email a coupon for 50% off first t rides and LYFT refuses to honor coupon. I have sent over 5 emails and they claim the most I can receive is $10 off first ride. The hook you in and then deny what they promised.
I was sent in my personal email a coupon for 50% off first t rides and LYFT refuses to honor coupon. I have sent over 5 emails and they claim the most I can receive is $10 off first ride. They hook you in and then deny what they promised. I attached a screenshot of what I received yet they repeatedly tell me it doesn't say 50% off first 5 rides and YES I never used them before, therefore, I am eligible for 50%. Terrible Service!
Zero stars. They charged a cancellation fee after driver failed to pick us up. I politely requested the fee be credited back to my account, explaining the details. Their responses were unprofessional and insulting, and they refused to credit back the cancellation fee they inappropriately charged me. It was a small amount, which I pointed out, and fairly answering my request would result in my ongoing business with them, which I also affirmed. Yet they declined to do the right thing, resulting in poor review and total loss of my doing future business with them. The revenue they are losing far outweighs the cancellation fee they inappropriately charged then refused to credit back.
I started taking Lyft exclusively about 3 years ago because the CEO of Uber was getting too political. Everything was ok with Lyft until I moved back to Las Vegas. Now, you can barely find a driver that speaks English. Most are horrible drivers as well. And today was my last day taking Lyft forever. I just got out of the hospital and needed a ride home. The driver picked me up, but had loud Spanish music on. I asked him to change the channel or turn it off, but he refused. Then when I get a call, he turns the music at full blast and calls me racist names. Then I ask him nicely to drop me off at a 7-11 to find another driver who wasn't so hostile and racist, he stops in the middle of a busy street and tells me to "get the F out dog!". Then threatens me. I called the police, but they won't do anything. I am so tired of everyone watching the news and thinking it is ok to be racist and hostile. I cannot change my skin color!
I was sent a code from a current driver to become a new driver. The deal was I would receive $2400 guaranteed for my first 140 rides given in the first 30 days as a new driver. I completed the 140 rides and Lyft should have paid me $1093 for the earnings guarantee. That was on 6/15/21. They've verified I should have been paid but won't pay me siting there's an engineering bug and there are many drivers this has happened to. DON"T TRUST THEM! Said it could take days, months or years to fix. Bad business for a company so desperate for employees. They tried to have security kick me out of the hub even though I had an appointment to be there to deal with the issue.
I ordered a Lyft for 3 hours seeings cars within 10 minutes of me they took $50 from my bank and said it would take 5-7 business days to get it back because it's a temporary hold. This ruined my whole day because I had no money that day to begin with.
I'm a lyft driver... I used the express pay to put my money into my checking account no problems... Now out of know where it's my banks fault that my transactions wont go through, no type of customer support at all what a joke scum bags tobthr fullest!
Tried 3 times to get a ride and was charged each time and never got a ride! This is not the first time this happened! Trust me! Do not waste your time
I had to walk home I'm 20 degree weather over 3 miles! Never again!
Do not use Lyft.
Would give zero. The company itself is cheap and doesn't treat their drivers right. Dropped multiple drivers with fake excuses however the hub tells the truth and doesn't bullsh*t. So forget Lyft. Trust me, do NOT drive for them.
They ripped me off of what could've been$700 because they termed my account with false information even Denver hub confirmed was false. It's all a scam. And I even drove FIVE hours and made $30 during 'busy hours'. Maybe Lyft is crashing.
I have trying to sign up as a driver for over one month. They tell me what I need to do to fix the problem but their instructions do not work. I have restarted my pc several times and also tried from other pc's to no avail. I have asked numerous times for a phone call but they will not call. I have already paid for my vehicle inspection. I am seriously disappointed with this company!
Arrived at Jackson, MS airport at 11:15 PM with no sign of Lyft driver to which I had scheduled a pickup hours before. Our driver (Timothy) cancelled pickup without any explanation leaving us to scramble at 12 AM to get back home. The Lyft app is worthless to customers in this case as you have no way to find someone else to pick you up or warn others of a potential problem. I'm removing the Lyft app and will only use Uber or local taxi service in the future.

Lyft service stinks. Driver cancels pre-scheduled pickup and we're stuck at the airport.
The driver went to the wrong location & started the trip, when I figured out how to call from the app, he would not come to the correct address. My device clearly indicated he was 2 blocks away. I canceled the ride I got charged more than the ride would have cost to complete. Uber showed up within 2 minutes and as usual we were in route immediately. I will not stray away from Uber again no matter how many "free" ride" codes Lyft drivers peddle. Oh and my $50 free ride credit didn't apply to driver error.
Twice now I have attempted to get rides in Atlanta with Lyft. On both of those occasions drivers indicated they were picking me up then changed their minds (after 5 or 10 minutes) and then canceled the drive. On both occasions multiple drivers agreed to pick me up and then changed their minds, leaving someone else to take the passenger. The first time I finally got a driver after 4 attempts. The second time I gave up after 3 attempts and just used a taxi service. Both experiences happened in a busy area. If there were a way to leave ratings for drivers that drop you like a hot potato--I would have given them one star.
I applied in Lyft just for little bit change in my driving career. Its been 20 years I am driving taxi with local cab company's in Denver metro area. After 2 days I got an email something went wrong with my back ground and I am not able to work in Lyft as a driver. I was wondering why and called them and talked to a person finally because its is hard to get hold of any person if you have any questions, which is bad service I would say and I told them I am a driver and have a Airport badge to work at Airport but who cares no proper answer, Still waiting for their answer. Then I applied in Uber X my background was fine, I was wondering what's wrong with these people. I wasted my time I would suggest you please don't waste you time lyft. It's is very cheap company have No customer service at all, No business experience and un professional people are running this company. I would rate Lyft 0 as of my experience.
I am a senior citizen waiting for local ACCESS yo be approved. Until then, I have to catch Lyft to get to work. I always order early, a driver pucks up. They get 3 minutes before arriving and then cancel. Not once, but it least three pick ups scheduled and three cancellations. That is unacceptable! There is no customer number to call and chat sucks! I am done with all share rides!
They charged me a damage fee without even ask my side of the story. A driver reported a re existing damage in his car and I was charged $100. I was never asked about the damage and was just sent a email saying they we were charging my card on file. Once I tried to dispute the charge, the customer service department was vague about the situation and eventually started ignoring my emails. Terrible company. Please use Uber and save yourself the headache.
