Lyft has a rating of 1.2 stars from 901 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Lyft most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and phone number problems. Lyft ranks 38th among Car Sharing sites.
So if you're 2 minutes late coming out they can charge you for it. If they are 2+ minutes late picking you up the price sure does not go down. As you're standing in the cold watching them turn around several times etc.
I booked Lyft to pick up a friend first, then me, and finally take us to downtown L.A. At the scheduled arrival time, I received a call from the driver, who informed me he was at my friend's address. However, he gave me a different address that was about 2 miles away. He claimed we were no-shows and said he was leaving. Shortly after, I received a text saying I would be charged $10 for the no-show. The issue is that the app had confirmed the correct pickup and drop-off locations in the proper order, which I documented with a screenshot. It seems the driver may have used this situation to avoid the trip and still collect a $10 fee for a bogus cancellation. Contacting customer service was nearly impossible, and navigating the app to file a complaint was frustrating and time-consuming. After about 15 minutes, I was finally informed that I would be reimbursed the $10. At the very least Lyft should verify ride cancellations with customers before applying charges. Due to the delay, we missed our seats at the concert and had to stand for the entire event. The experience was extremely disappointing.
In NY, the drivers never ever pick you up where you request. You have to find out where they stop and hope you can get to where THEY decide to pick you up before they leave and have to pay a $10 no show fee. LYFT should be charged with fraud.
Drivers are nasty when you ask they why. Customer service is worse then the drivers. I wish I could give them a minus 50 stars... they are absolutely the worst company that has existed. Should be reviewed by the BBB and their operation shut down.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use LYFT. It is a scheme to rob you. LYFT should be charged with fraud.
Terrible and very, very incompetent. Drivers don't seem to ever know there way around the city and apparently don't know how to utilize a GPS system! I hate this service, or should I say lack of service, and therefore I will never ever use them again.
I depend on lyft to get me to my life saving dialysis. Tonight I was ditched by a driver who tried to collect a fare without giving me a ride. Whats worse is when I contacted lyft they claimed tbey couldn't find any account information. If you value yours or a your loved ones health and don't want to get ripped off find another form of transportation.
App sucks, you schedule a trip the night before, the next day you drive 20 miles to the pick up location and log in when told to and instead of giving you that trip they send ones 20 to 30 min away and i'm setting right out front of pick up and another driver shows up.
Both transportation apps are butt! We Just Need A New One! I'm to the point I'm ready to start using taxis again.
Lyft itself sucked it did not tell me how much my ride would be, only way i knew was to check my account, the text message sent said save $20 on Lyft, the ride to or from my house to this destination on a taxi is usually $14 to $17 so at the end of my ride lyft says it takes off $5 credit for my friend refering me which is more than I pay for regular yellow taxi or black cat ride even with the 5 bucks off. The driver knew nothing about the company the app or how I can find info, all in all Lyft itself sucks not just the driver... how unprofessional! Never again. Who only tells you how much your being charged AFTER you artive at tour house?
My account has been deactivated for over a year now due to some background check issue. Had an issue with DMV but it's been sorted out but I still got deactivated. Their customer service will not even respond to my complaints so I had to leave for a while. Recently I came across a group of programmers named cyberianx on telegram and they helped me reactivate my account after I explained my situation. Anyone encountering this same issue should report the case to them. I can't thank them enough for their assistance.
The review about left dropping is true. I worked for them for only 6 days and got deactivated within two days without giving you a chance to fix your rating. But it is a good thing I don't work there no more because of insurance. They don't tell you that you have to change your insurance to a business insurance which will cost you in the thousands. If you get into in accident with your basic insurance, your insurance will drop you in a heartbeat, and won't pay anything. And who knows what left will do if your insurance drops you. Anyone and I mean anyone who is driving for left now or thinking about it call your insurance immediately don't wait till you have an accident. The passenger can use you an not just the company.
Unreliable the driver didn't speak much English went for the wrong home for pick up then didn't know how to get to SJ airport. Plus he took me to the wrong terminal and I ended up running late for my flight. As much as I hate Uber it's starting to look better
I was in an unfamiliar city. I ordered a Lyft to the airport. It recommended I walk two blocks with my luggage to "Their" recommended spot! Not the customers! I had no idea which way to walk?! I started walking but did locate their spot! I saw a hotel, I stood in the hotel parking and requested a ride again it told to walk a block and half away with my luggage! I could not be picked up at a location of my choice, not even a hotel! At this point I saw a trolley station nearby I walked for a third time with my luggage. I am currently riding on the trolley for $2 which is $35 less expensive and a pleasant experience.
Never download Lyft. It's the worst app ever. Uber has started reliable through and through. Worst drivers worst service and app itself is incomparable. Glad no one I know uses Lyft and god have mercy on their soul.
Dont use lyft this coming from a driver of 3 years in HOUSTON. If the driver has lack of sleep from working 20 hrs driving lyft and uber to make somewhat of a living they high off drugs or drunk so how or you getting a safe ride home on a fri night. The driver in no better shape to drive then you or. Start doing a drug test lets see 29k drivers drop to bout 9k drivers. Lyft gave me the chance to drive and i still am after never seeing me or knowing who i really am. Little do they know im what the app say but im really not and more then half the drivers doing same thing. All you have to do is send in a dl with any pic once they start your account and they NEVER check it. Facts im here to bring the hole house down only because the lack of pay for the drivers out here
This Company is terrible. I haven't taken a ride since August. They've been taking money from my account. I emailed them at least 4 times. They said they would get back to me. It's been a month. I reported them to the BBB. Awful experience, no phone number for customer service, it just redirects you back to their website. Stay away from them.
We'd reserved a car in Katonah to attend a new years eve party and it had been confirmed. Arriving at the train station at 7:30, we were messaged that the driver had a delay and they would send another. They didn't. We had to miss the party and take a train home. Trying to contact Lyft is impossible. I sent a message on Facebook but nothing has been resolved. We spent 3 hours traveling and had expenses - all for nothing. This was most disappointing and ever effort to email has bounded. These car companies make it impossible to contact them when you have a situation.
Lyft is a horrible company! They treat their drivers, who are supposed to be their partners, like slaves. That's because they don't invest a single penny in them. They take them for granted. I worked for that company one WEEK only and they fired me for 0.1 point of rating below their standard rating. In the meantime, I received an email from them confirming that I was deactivated for the age of my car. Based on this email, I got a car loan and bought a $10,000 car. However, they refused to reactivate me and acted as if they never sent me anything. Screw their app! They are nothing but an opportunistic and exploitative company!
I ordered a Lyft at 4:30 pm to get home. It took them 30min to get me a driver that would show up. I had 2 drivers that kept getting further and when I tried to contact them they would drive further. When I tried to contact Lyft support the numbers all hung up on me. It took me 45 min to get home when it was a 15min drive. I also had to get home by 5 which didn't happen. Lyft people are horrible and rude. There is no way to contact Lyft during an emergency and there was no option to request a new driver. To cancel they wanted to charge you. Lyft is horrible and I never recommend taking it.
Lyft overcharge u if u don't pay attention to ur charges.I was charged 79.99$ for a ride that was 19.99$. U will see the charge after the completion of the ride.when u try to reach out to them then obviously its next to impossible to talk to them in person. They will chat u up but they ain't helping u.Best believe they will deny to hear u out and blame u instead..
The company seems to think it's okay to rip off its own drivers. As a driver myself I was always curious about how my compensation compared to lift itself. Come to find out I was only receiving 35 to 40% of payment from the customer and Lyft was collecting more than half when I'm paying for my own gas I also pay for a daily car wash I pay my own insurance I make car payments I'm the one risking having a stranger in my vehicle I'm also risking getting sick or one of my children getting sick from them being in my vehicle. I'm not sure how lift comes to the conclusion that they deserve a higher percentage of my pay than me. The last straw was when I was compensated $41 for a trip that was 47 miles there 51 miles back. I'm done
Lyft app requests drivers when I am NOT requesting one. I was just dropped off at the airport and unbeknownst to me another driver was requested. When he called I clarified that I did not request the ride. He cancelled. Then your app automatically requested another driver which I did not need again. Lot of confusion. On the brighter side most of the drivers are exceptionally nice.
Booked a ride that quoted the price of $29 that Ive taken multiple times and when I get to my destination and go to tip and rate the driver I see I was charged $66. Of course you have to go around the world and back to contact anyone and after emailing back and forth a week later they say I was not over charged. Needless to say this is my last right with them because if u change the rate to whatever after u quote a price and there was nothing unusual that happened and I cant call a talk to or live chat anyone I dont need your service.
I requested a ride 40 minutes before I had to be at work. The first driver was finishing a ride for 20 minutes and then canceled. The second driver canceled after about 10 minutes. By the time I arrived at work, I was well beyond receiving a citation. I then learned that Lyft has no customer service. Zero. Supposedly, customers can dispute a ride or a charge; that's pretty much it. Lyft is solely responsible for my loss of income and I have no means of seeking compensation. Awful company.
I found repeated fraudulent charges by scumbags especially with Lyft and also some other businesses during the last two years. I never had to pay for those fraudulent charges, but it was a big hassle to keep changing my credit card number. So fed up, I put a freeze on the Citi card. I even wondered if it was an inside job by some person at Citi. Now, with a WFargo card, it just happened again! I'm going to look into "tokenization."
I have been charged 80 dollars by them for having left junk in the car after a ride, where the driver apparently claims it was me and that I somehow damaged his car. Sent me a picture of an empty ice coffee container. My ride had been at 6am, way too early to even get an ice coffee anywhere!
I never left anything, didn't eat or drink, and certainly didnt damage anything. And after having said this many times they sided with driver and charged me anyway.
Unbelievable.
Currently still waiting to be connected with a driver after 1 hour. If you try to get any connected with anyone before finding a driver it's absolutely impossible. I understand the struggle of finding drivers but the app lies telling you it will take sum amount of time for the driver to come and continuously makes the time go longer and longer. I wouldn't plan ahead if I knew it would take this long.
I tried to go to the Smithsonian in DC and the driver took me into the middle of a neighborhood and dropped me off, saying that the Smithsonian was behind a house.
There was no Smithsonian behind the house or anywhere near that neighborhood. I was 5 miles away and on limited time. I asked Lyft for a refund and they said that they did an "internal investigation" and decided that I didn't deserve a refund. I'm furious. They never tried to call me during their investigation to get my side of the story. I feel ripped off.
Rideshare with Lyft. Lyft is your friend with a car, whenever you need one. Download the app and get a ride from a friendly driver within minutes.
