“Fees”

Barb G.
12/4/23

So if you're 2 minutes late coming out they can charge you for it. If they are 2+ minutes late picking you up the price sure does not go down. As you're standing in the cold watching them turn around several times etc.

Top Critical Review

“Driver no-show”

Anisa H.
8/18/24

I booked Lyft to pick up a friend first, then me, and finally take us to downtown L.A. At the scheduled arrival time, I received a call from the driver, who informed me he was at my friend's address. However, he gave me a different address that was about 2 miles away. He claimed we were no-shows and said he was leaving. Shortly after, I received a text saying I would be charged $10 for the no-show. The issue is that the app had confirmed the correct pickup and drop-off locations in the proper order, which I documented with a screenshot. It seems the driver may have used this situation to avoid the trip and still collect a $10 fee for a bogus cancellation. Contacting customer service was nearly impossible, and navigating the app to file a complaint was frustrating and time-consuming. After about 15 minutes, I was finally informed that I would be reimbursed the $10. At the very least Lyft should verify ride cancellations with customers before applying charges. Due to the delay, we missed our seats at the concert and had to stand for the entire event. The experience was extremely disappointing.

This is a scam and the app won't even let you register. Good thing, too, because most people report sheisty dealings with the payments, etc.

Because most drivers are not well informed and educated on what it costs to drive every mile, they think that they are making money and continue to devaluate their cars while driving all those miles that don't compensate for all the related expenses. This is a dangerous job that deserves to be paid accordingly. When you are always looking for an address, you are not so attentive to all the dangers of the road. Yet, Lyft and Uber pay little money: about $3.25 for about 20 or 30 minutes of driving. I did some rides that paid $6.00 and took about 50 minutes. Their incentives are very deceiving because they require driving during very heavy traffic hours and not very ideal situations. You need to maintain 90% acceptance which is hard given that often you would have to accept rides that take you very far away, from where you would need to drive back empty, absorbing all the cost. On top of this, Lyft has not customer service. It takes days to get any answers and they are often not helpful. They have no physical locations to go to get problems resolved. I was robbed by a passenger and got absolutely on help from them. They did not cooperate with the police to identify the suspect which they knew. If Uber is bad, Lyft is much worse.

They also use more deceiving practices than Uber. They make you think that you are getting paid a certain amount when in reality that is what they are collecting from the passenger. You don't have access to each ride record on line that you can use to document events during the ride or submit a complain/request.

Stop driving for Lyft or Uber if you are doing it. Any other job is much better because you make some money.

I was scammed in Atlanta, GA on September 4th, 2021. The scam is when drivers come just close enough to the pick up area to start the 5 min timer, make no contact until about 5-10 seconds remaining, then send one text like "Where are you?" Then before you can respond the time runs out and they collect a "no-show" fee. Mind you, they will not respond to any call or text within that 5 mins while you are trying to contact them. But when they send that last second "Where are you?" text, it makes it appear as though they tried to reach you and failed. This happened to my boyfriend twice within 10 mins where in one of them, we watched the car icon literally drive away from our area when we tried to contact him. Then, I decided to try and it happened to me. I could see the car icon was nearby but he just went and parked in the huge parking lot of cars to run down the time and we didn't have time to search every license plate to find him. I called and texted several times with no response. $6 later, I finally got a ride with my 2nd attempt. I asked the driver about the scam and he openly admitted that he does that often himself if he doesn't like the way the customer looks or he just doesn't want to make the drive. I reported this to Lyft immediately while in the 2nd Lyft. I never got a response. I just looked into again today October 23,2021. I looked through my inbox to see if I had missed it or something. I went in the app to try to find my report and it was no where to be found. I then contacted them through the message system and re explained it all just to be told that the charge was correct and if I can't show up to my ride within 5 mins then the driver gets rightfully compensated. #1 I have NEVER missed my ride. EVER. #2 I used to drive for Lyft. I still have a 5.0 rating on my profile. All the "customer service" would need to do is look at the messages and call attempts between myself and that scam driver in the app to see what I am saying is true and even look at his profile for a pattern. But no. Blame the customer. That's the answer. I'll be using Uber from now on.

Firstly there is the service. One day you might get a ride with someone who speaks the same language as you and is driving a clean vehicle that isn't dented, rusting or doesn't stink like the 9th circle of hell inside but that will be a RARE day if you ever do. Secondly, If you find yourself outside of their preferred pick up areas, you are not going to get a ride or you will wait longer than you wold have for a taxi or legal rideshare. Third, THERE IS NO INSURANCE. Lyft is falsely advertising that they actually have insurance, their TOS page invalidates any and all coverage for you once you get in the vehicle. Fourth, their surge pricing scam is obviously NOT about a lack of supply or demand or they wouldn't be dropping the surge price once a few of their drivers have picked up people at THREE times the normal rate in the same area. It is a method of keeping their vehicles in one area so Uber can collect more fees from their drivers. It has nothing to do with customer service or actual demand and it destroys the green factor of the service as it puts twice as many vehicles on the road than would be needed. This isn't even a real rideshare company. It is just a crappy point to point service. If you do not care about your own safety or the safety of those you travel with or the planet, this is the service for you.

I received a 50% email offer off my next Lyft ride taken by 12/17/23 on 12/10/23 and then a "reminder" on 12/13/23 to claim my offer. I pressed "claim offer" button / link on the email. I kept trying to contact help because it wasn't calculating as 50% off when I would get the prices for the ride I wanted to take. I thought maybe after I took the ride the promo would show up. I took the ride this morning, 12/15 for $13.99 and that's the amount that is pending being charged for the ride. I contacted "customer service" and showed the screenshots of the email and after 25 minutes, the rep said I could not get the promo because I have two accounts with the same email. I had to make another account when I was trying to get the promo because I got a new phone # last month and don't have access to my other phone #. What did I do wrong? The promo says it's by invitation and good to the person that got the email and was by invitation. I didn't know I have two accounts because i am the same person with the same email. Who were they sending the offer to if not to me? I took the ride under the email the offer was sent to. The offer says nothing about my phone #. I took the ride by 12/17, and now I can't have the discount? I took the ride with the expectation that I would get the 50% off per the email. I did nothing wrong. Why is their service so bad? The shouldn't send me an email with offers they don't intend to honor. I accepted the written offer and then they don't want to let me have it. How bad of a company do you have to be to know the substance of the offer was correct, I am a loyal rider for maybe 8-10 years preferring Lyft over Uber (not anymore) and then fail to give me the $6.99 or so discount. Bad business. Why are you sending me an offer to use your service and then won't let me have it unknowingly to me because I have two accounts under one email address?

Don't get full guys what Lyft advertised about making a lots money it is all false, there is not flexibility when for earn some money you need to work when they want, and I been driving for Lyft for few years now and believe me the only moment that I made the money they state was on holiday time by working at list 14 hours per day per hours and thanks to bonuses and tips, but in a regular day you are lucky if can take home 10$ per hour at the net, beside the fact you will true away your car after one year not matter if your car was almost brand new, because so many miles you will drive many of that unpaid because you don't get pay for reaching the pickup point, and many time for reach the pick up point is more distance than how much you need to drive for the paid ride so no sense at all and if you think to cancel that ride because your are believe is to far because to many miles drive for the money you will make for the ride than your acceptance rating will decrease and so you will lose bonuses and more, so what flexibility they are talking about, there is not at all, costumer service the worse ever so plan in advance there is no assistance with any issue, no benefits and what ever your are going no one accept Lyft as income so LYFT=NO FUTURE

ALERT My Lyft driver's account got HACKED through the Lyft portal support! Lost my hard-earned weekly money and my entire account! Despite reaching out to Lyft support MULTIPLE times since June 24th, I'm left hanging with ZERO response from their fraudulent department! Criminal activities running rampant, affecting countless drivers and riders! Where are the Lyft Directors and the CEO? NO CARE, NO ACTION! #LyftHacked #NoAccountNoJustice

This shocking breach of security exposes a grave flaw in Lyft's system, leaving innocent drivers vulnerable to heartless hackers. They had access to personal information, financial details, and possibly even location data! Our safety and livelihoods are at stake, and Lyft remains eerily silent.

How many more drivers and riders must suffer before Lyft takes this cybercrime epidemic seriously? The lack of urgency from the company's top brass is nothing short of alarming. Are they turning a blind eye to the wave of criminal activity happening within their own platform?

It's high time Lyft's Directors and CEO wake up to the harsh reality: our trust in the platform is shattered, and their inaction only amplifies our frustration and anger! As victims, we demand immediate action, thorough investigations, and transparent communication.

Don't let this happen to you! Spread the word and let your friends, family, and fellow Lyft users know about this disturbing breach of security. We deserve answers, justice, and a swift resolution to this ongoing nightmare. #LyftHacked #NoAccountNoJustice

I just came out of a nightmare experience with Lyft. I had to wait 34 minutes at the airport for my Lyft ride under the scorching heat (almost 100) a couple of days ago because the first driver cancelled on me after making me wait for 20 minutes and I was assigned a new driver. By the time I got dropped off I was almost heatstruck and daze. I stupidly left my backpack in the backseat. I contacted the driver right away but no response. Lyft customer care was beyond useless. It says all I can do is keep contacting this driver through the app's Lost and Found system. Unbelievably, Lyft customer service kept telling me Lyft's Terms of Service do not require drivers to return items found in their cars to riders (!) and that drivers are not Lyft employers, and as such, they are not required to be keep in contact with Lyft. Lyft Customer care assured me they were sending messages to the driver from their end too. I could tell the location of my laptops in the lost backpack through Apple's Find My app, but Lyft still would not release the driver's full name, phone # or anything helpful citing "privacy requirement."

To make a long story short, I filed a report with the local police. Based on the satellite pictures of my Find My ping location, a detective "visited" the driver's apartment yesterday and retrieved my backpack thank God. Incredibly, the driver claimed to the police detective that she had never received a single message from Lyft or from me. Not knowing what to do with my bag, she was "safeguarding" it in her apartment!

In the meantime, I had asked Lyft to compel the driver to respond to us by deactivating her until she responded but Lyft refused. Which means, while Lyft was aware that I was having this difficulty with a potential thief of a Lyft driver, Lyft was assigning this driver to other passengers.

As far as I'm concerned Lyft is a borderline crime organization.

I booked a ride from my work to my home. The distance to my job from my home is only 15 to 16 minutes driving. I get off late at night and there's absolutely no traffic on the road. Tonight the driver pick me up and took a route that I've never seen before to my house. We went through dark neighborhoods which made absolutely no sense because he completely disregarded the highway which is right by my job. If he would have taken the highway I would have been home in 15 minutes or less. But because Lyft obviously does this on purpose to make more money on the rides! The driver pick me up at 12:23 a.m. I didn't make it home until almost 1:00 a.m. the route May absolutely no sense. This is the 4th or fifth time that Lyft has done this. I also had an incident last week and was picked up from my home and heading to work. There was an accident on the highway but the driver saw the traffic backed up on the highway well before we approached the exit. He still got on the highway and he could have taken the service road next to the highway which didn't have any backed up traffic. I was an hour and a half late for work. I was charged double the ride amount because the driver decided that he wanted to take the highway which was backed up and he saw this. I disputed the extra charge and they refunded me but Lyft turned around and debited my account later for the charge that I was refunded. These people have screwed me over for the last time. They make the drivers go routes that are longer just so they can try to get more money. I will be getting a lawyer because I noticed that the reviews are horrible. They do this all the time and on top of that they have no customer support. That's a big eye opener! How can you approve a refund and then turn around and still debit my account. I'm not going to stand for it and my lawyer will be in contact with the company. Tonight it took me double the time to get home that it normally does and there was absolutely no traffic and no reason for the driver to be going the way that he did. It's obvious that they're milking money out of people. You should be ashamed of yourself and I would not be using your service anymore.
