“Fees”

Barb G.
12/4/23

So if you're 2 minutes late coming out they can charge you for it. If they are 2+ minutes late picking you up the price sure does not go down. As you're standing in the cold watching them turn around several times etc.

Top Critical Review

“Driver no-show”

Anisa H.
8/18/24

I booked Lyft to pick up a friend first, then me, and finally take us to downtown L.A. At the scheduled arrival time, I received a call from the driver, who informed me he was at my friend's address. However, he gave me a different address that was about 2 miles away. He claimed we were no-shows and said he was leaving. Shortly after, I received a text saying I would be charged $10 for the no-show. The issue is that the app had confirmed the correct pickup and drop-off locations in the proper order, which I documented with a screenshot. It seems the driver may have used this situation to avoid the trip and still collect a $10 fee for a bogus cancellation. Contacting customer service was nearly impossible, and navigating the app to file a complaint was frustrating and time-consuming. After about 15 minutes, I was finally informed that I would be reimbursed the $10. At the very least Lyft should verify ride cancellations with customers before applying charges. Due to the delay, we missed our seats at the concert and had to stand for the entire event. The experience was extremely disappointing.

I've been having terrible experiences with Lyft so far. Drivers taking longer routes to destinations, arriving late, not where I need or not arriving at all. Combine all of this with ridiculous prices and its pretty obvious that I will not use this service anymore.

First problem, there is no way to contact the life human at Lyft. You have to reach out via their chat or email. Their standard response to any issue that is present it is "I am sorry that I am unable to help you. Thank you for your understanding."
I have been trying to apply for a driver position for several months. Initially the delay was incorrect information on a background check. The third-party they use for background checks corrected the information and resubmitted the report to Lyft. I did get a copy via email of the report when the background check company sent it to Lyft.
Lyft has still not updated their records and it is impossible to get anyone to do anything other than say "check with the background company ". The application is progressing nowhere as the background check company keeps telling me "check with Lyft ".

1/25/2023, make reservation with Lyft. Waited 45 minutes, to have the app tell me to wait while Lyft looked for a driver. 15 minutes later, Lyft cancelled the ride because drivers were not available; but asked if I wanted to schedule again for a much higher price. Changed my reservation to Uber, 10 minutes later I was on my way for the same price as my first reservation with Lyft. Don't use Lyft in St. Mary's county, they will leave you waiting and then cancel.

Tip for consumers:
Do not use the Lyft app. Their prices are almost double Uber and they will leaving you waiting; then cancel the ride because they do not have a driver. Then ask if you want to rebook at an even higher price.

Products used:
Ended up using Uber; Uber will be my choice in the future.

Previously, I successfully used Uber several times and one day I decided to check how much Lyft would charge for the same ride. The Lyft interface is completely stupid and (in contrast to Uber) apparently does not allow to estimate the ride cost. After unsuccessfully trying to estimate Lyft ride fees, I ordered a ride through Uber. After some time I've got a call from Lyft driver telling me he is trying to find my address approximately 5 miles away from my original address (!) I told him that (a) I did not order the ride, (b) he is in a completely wrong location, (c) I do not need Lyft services. Next day Lyft fraudulently charged my credit card! Lyft does have any customer service contacts so you could not even complain anyone about these fraudulent charges! What a scam! I needed to dispute Lyft charges through my credit card.

Beware Lyft can charge you an $80 fee for spill cleanup. In my case they charged me for an ice spill even though I did not bring ice in to the car! The driver provided a picture. When I disputed the pic and asked for a time stamp I received no reply. Multiple attempts to contact and dispute have gone unanswered.

Used Uber one time in St. Louis. We didnt check statements closely for several months, but eventually noticed recurring charges for Lyft services over 6 month period even though we havent used them since the St. Louis trip. (We reside near Chicago). Evidently there was hacking or driver stole info. Dont even think about getting help from either company on these issues. Thank goodness our bank had our back. Had to cancel card and get new account. CC theft complaints seem common for both companies. Drivers are allowed to drive for both companies at the same time. Nice setup for them, especially if they want to use your info.

Using this app 2 weeks and have had some lovely drivers, tonight We booked a lift with Jose reg number IR17MC white Toyota Sienna.
When it got to arriving in 1 minute he cancelled lift, then arrived and collected another family for more money leaving myself and young children stranded. Knowing there is no consequence for this behaviour. If we cancel we get charged 5 dollars. He should be fined for this sort of conduct! Disgraceful

Bad service amd to those who do flex drive (rent the car to them) they change the policy with out the driver agreeing to them amd also the schedule a 3 hour trip and expect the driver to use there barely 400 personal miles to get back home so basically 167 mile will get deducted from the 400 personal miles and if the driver dares to exceed the 400 Miles even by 1 mile the have the audacity to charge them 300 extra.
Which is stupid cause the drivers barely make 200 extra after paying the rental.

( it's like work for me you slave you signed an agreement but Lyft doesn't Care they will do what ever they want.)

I clicked on a ride that aside one price but when I reviewed it, it charged me almost double! Contacting left does nothing. They will not reimburse. Poor costumer service. My advice is screen shot each ride at purchase price as proof and go to your bank because Lyft company are scum.

App showed quote about $33 plus change. Quote disappears from app upon acceptance, never to be retrieved again. Making it a "Lyft said, rider said" with the rider locked out of the information.
Upon arrival, price was $38.97 ($39).
My last same destination ride 12 days ago was $32.62 which was actually one mile longer (driver's choice routes)
This driver said "call Lyft and they will fix it".
No phone number available, only text. They insist they recalculated and $38.97 is correct!
They won't acknowledge they get your ride by committing a lie with a false quote and not honored.
Deliberate fraud! If you choose Lyft, be to s sure to make screen shots of the original quote before clicking OK!
It may help cancel the bank transaction!

Got into a Lyft tonight and the driver admitted he was drinking all night and we were the last ride of the night. We immediately made him stop the car and reported him. Lyft did absolutely nothing and just apologized for the bad ride. This is disgusting. We tried doing the right thing by not drinking and driving yet got into a car with a drunk man. Good job Lyft.

LYFT is very stupid! They say one thing and do another! Their application system always crashes and then they try to assure you that everything works fine! They don't really have a handle on what they are doing. For example, their stupid so called "mentors" are stingy, judgmental and not friendly. They tell you: "they have enough qualified drivers", but yet they harass you, by texting and emailing you; asking you to join their team (because they don't know what the hell they are doing!). Total contradiction. They are a very very stupid ride sharing company. I hate that their stupid pink mustache. They are not in touch with their drivers or customers, as far as I am concerned!

I hired my mom a lyft and paid for her to be drove to the store and drove back by the same driver. When she come out side from the store to leave the driver was gone. He would not return and she had to pay and hire a second Lyft driver to bring her back home a ride that should have cost $8 round trip ended up costing $32 and we can't get customer service on the phone at all horrible company horrible customer service stick with Uber

Tip for consumers:
Make sure you tell your driver he better not leave when you go to get out of the car. If you paid for a round trip ride make sure you double check your phone to let the driver know

My mother lives in a 10-story high rise in Dayton, OH. For eight months, I have called Lyft once a week to take her to and from her weekly hair appt,@ $7.80 each way. Now, suddenly Lyft is gouging the little guy and increasing the return price and adding hidden surcharges, ex: they added a $4.68 priority pickup fee? Which I never asked for. You get to your destination but then can't get home for the same price. $24.99 for a 1 mile trip? Shame on you. You had a good thing but got greedy! No one can afford that, so way to go! You've greeded your drivers right out of work. Way to take advantage! Sick

Tried to use once and connection kept failing so we Ubered. Weeks later got fraudulent charges from 2,000 miles away from my home. Fortunately my credit card company charged it back even after Lyft DISPUTED it. Apparently fraudulent charges are common on this insecure app as is also supported in the many of the negative reviews here. I have not been able to log back into my account to try again and emails to their support group are not answered.

I reserved a Lyft the night before to take me to the airport. On the app it showed the driver was on their way with a 10 minute window. The ride never showed up. You have no way of contacting the company. Worst experience! I would NEVER use them again!'

I gave 150 rides in 30 days for Lyft, which should entitle me to receive a $400 bonus. Problem is that they are saying that I need a promo code from when I first signed up on Lyft, which I don't have. I never knew of any promo codes, and I also wrote an email within days of my hire asking what promotions I would be available for. They are denying me my bonus based on a BS technicality, plain and simple. Plus, it is hard to find riders altogether, regardless of time or day. My last week I logged 33 hours and made $375.52. In other words, I made just over $10 an hour plus tips (which aren't much) MINUS expenses. Not worth it...

Has anyone else run into this issue? I usually pay for my mother's transportation so I was charged for a ride that actually took place, from her usual destination A to B, the only problem is, my mother never ordered or took the ride. After years of being in good standing w/ the company (as a rider), they wouldn't even investigate the issue. Instead, they're charging me for the ride & stopped responding to me. What a way to treat your loyal & regular customers.

Also, my mother would constantly receive emails that she didn't wear a mask. Her job requires her to wear one at all time. Each time I have to tell Lyft to please remove this false issue. At least they did that for her. Makes me wonder if there's a glitch in their system or what?

Be aware to be sometimes falsely accused of allegations that can cause your account to be on hold for a whole week mean you're missing out on money not able to drive. And they do not compensate you. The only thing they do is say sorry. They have the worst worst worst customer service ever specially when it comes to communication they definitely need to learn some pointers and tips from Chick-fil-A. Their email is the worst and they do not call. Uber does a much better job with response.

Will never be using Lyft again. Had a driver accuse my friend and I of damage that we did not do. He was rude to us the whole way as well. Lyft customer service was of no help and my friend and I were forced to pay an extra $80 on top of our ride fee. Safe to say I will be using Uber from now on.

If I could give zero stars I would. You can't talk to a human, you have to go through the app on chat. I spent 45 minutes on the chat and had to explain my situation 3 times. Either the agent doesn't speak English or they didn't take the time to read my inquiry because every question they asked was written in my original reason for contacting them. In the end the agent said they couldn't help me, so I didn't get my $30 credit and I wasted 45 minutes of my time. This is a major problem with trying to have a conversation via chat or email. The agents DO NOT READ what you are telling them. I try to give as much detail and be as specific as possible to avoid this but it still happens and its incredibly frustrating. There is also no reason for them to not give me my credit. They sent me a text offering the credit and then I tried to use it they wouldn't acknowledge it. Just a horrible experience.

Lyft has a system that gets rid of most female drivers in the first 6 months. At times Lyft has no email or phone line to help drivers or passages. All Lyft does is copy Uber, good and bad. Women need a safe rideshare to drive and ride. We need drivers and passengers to have clean background reports.
I drove for Lyft and was very uneasy about picking groups of drunk men. I was harassed many times and at the time Lyft was changing its support email and none was available for months.
If you are going to drive make sure you get the maximum Driving bonus. Contact me directly and I will help you get one to three hundred dollars extra. My Gmail account is my full name.
