Ok I grow Plumeria in my basement. So I have about 30 trees in various stages of growth. I have 10 different grow lights (all LED) over them. One of my plumeria trees has grown so much taller than the others that I would have to move one of my grow lights so high that it would make the surrounding trees suffer. My solution was to buy a new grow light. My current grow lights are different brands of blurple and full spectrum lights so I decided to splurge a little bit and get a mars hydro for my largest tree. The blurple lights aren't bad per se, I have had one of my plumeria flower last year and these guys are grown from seed so that was a real treat. But on to the actual review.
When the box showed up it was extremely well packaged. Super thick cardboard outside, and another super thick cardboard box enclosing the light itself. And the light had the thick padding around it. I don't think it moved an inch since they boxed it up. The light itself is nice and heavy and feels very well made. The components on the back (driver and dimmer) were loose but tightening them down just involved turning some little screws with wheels on the top so i could tighten them down without needing a screwdriver. Mine didn't come with the hydrometer but I don't really need it. It did come with all the necessary mounting hardware so I could hang in from the ceiling. I noticed a couple reviews saying the light was hanging crooked and mine seemed to at first until I noticed one of the hanging clips was tilted sideways and stuck. I jiggled it around and it immediately straightened the light out. Now it hangs perfectly. I set my light to 100%, flicked it on, and my goodness! The entire basement got noticeably brighter. One mars hydro light hanging in one corner basically output enough light that I couldn't see the blurple light colors in the rest of the basement! Truly stunning. I have decided to replace the majority of my setup with maybe one or two more mars hydro's. I'll see how my plumeria like the light output.
