My wife found mecumgreatdane.com as we were looking for a new puppy for our 2 year old daughter. We have 3 other dogs (2 for the boys and 1 is my wifes) so it was only fitting we got a one for our daughter. My wife has been working on me saying yes for while now and I finally gave in when I saw my daughter's reaction to a certain puppy on this site. My wife inquired about the adorable 10 week old great dane puppy and found out she was available. They said they were looking to get rid of this litter as they were expecting a new one in a few weeks and needed to make the room. The (owner) Sklyer Mecum reied to my wife inquiring about who we were as a family, house, yard, other dogs etc as they wanted to be sure the dog was going to a good home. My wife sent all needed information and received a purchase contract in return. She filled out said contract and started the process of the purchase for $550. Yes price seemed way to good to be true and I should have trusted my gut but my daughter's reaction kept playing in my head and I was so excited about surprising her. We vemoed the money to the individual and were told the shipping would be free as they has "coupons" still available, great as we live in AZ and this place of "business" is in GA. To be sure one last time we asked the owner to send a video of the puppy and him saying my wife's name to which he did exactly that, so we moved forward. She received an email from the shipping company saying the "crate" provided wasn't able to be used for shipping so we would need to send $600 full refundable upon delivery and another $100 in non refundable money for rental of a crate. My wife sent me that email and I instantly knew I had sent money to a scammer which for the first time in my life I fell for. Shame on me. My wife tried reaching out to the mecumgreatdane.com owner via phone and no response or answer. So she decided to use a family email address and inquired about the same exact puppy on their website. To no suprise she received a response saying the puppy was available and would "ship for free."
I know its our fault for fling to such a scam but if anything can come of this it would be that despicable website and business is brought to front as a giant scam and severely unethical
