I've had a wonderful time buying and selling on Mercari! It's been better than using Depop and other services at times. I used to sell items very quickly on here and I've been able to buy some authentic rare items for cheaper here. PLEASE make this service available in Puerto Rico. I no longer live in Florida so I can't use the website anymore. It was my favorite selling/buying service. USPS considers Puerto Rico "domestic" USPS for labels, so it should be possible to use Mercari, but it's not allowed yet… Hopefully in the future…
I have 255 positive reviews as a seller with no negative reviews. I had an lying buyer buy a lululemon vest that was brand new from me. She must've worn it for a couple days and spilled paint on it. Than claims 3 days later after it arrived that it was full of white paint spots. I showed pics to mercari how my item arrived in excellent condition ans how it looked before and no response and they refunded the buyer and is having her mail it back to me damaged! They are awful! Customer service & takes days to get back to you and no help! I'm done with them
I ordered a Nespresso espresso maker. It looked in a good condition on Mercari website's picture. However when i i got it.
1. it was poorly unprofessional packaged.
2. it was dirty with coffee grinds and coffee stain all over the place. I cleaned and cleaned.
3. the milk frothier cleaning light is on every time I used the machine after extensively cleaning and descaling. It light up no matter what. Such defect was not mentioned on it's website.
4. Meicari has near zero customer services. Eventaully they emailed me back after 24 hrs. Then I was told all sale is final after 72 hrs of delivery. No return period! Really? I don't expect everyone is like amazon but 72 hrs I barely had time to clean it and sent emails. I wasted $300 on this machine.
5. lesson to learn, Please do not order anything from Mercari!

I purchased a bottle of Nerium Moisturizer from a seller named Mary. It was supposed to be new and unopened. When I received it, it was open and product expired. Mercari denied my refund. What the hell? 1. The seller knows how to get through new system- by saying the product was new and opened. Then played stupid saying it wasn't open when shipped. 2. Mercari backed her up not me. Scammers I say. Unfortunately, Mary has ruined it for the honest sellers.

Ordered something, seller never made contact and didn't respond to my message. Here are the problems with Mercari: 1. At that point I only had the option for them to contact the seller and get back to me. I couldn't just cancel, even though by then it was late and I didn't trust that seller anymore. 2. They canceled it, but then there was no option to review the seller, so my irresponsible seller gets to keep his 5-star rating. In other words, the very worst sellers get a pass. 3. There is NO WAY TO CONTACT MERCARI! Every single contact link on their site led back to the virtual help FAQs. That's ridiculous. And for that reason alone, I will never order from them again.

Where do I start. Out of three purchases. I have bought I have reicived on in tact the other broken and the other hasn't shown up it's been three weeks. This site is out of a horror film. I have had no response on the unshipped item. The broken item visually states an electronic error and was photographed together with the return request, and what do they do? Ask me for more photos of a non working electronic item. Come on... how are you to provide more photos of a non functioning heater than the stated error that means there is an electrical failure. On top of that the seller had already acknowledged and verbally accepted the return request! Mercari is a joke and is misleading in their procedures. I am taking a look at this and digging in to how many others they have ripped of as a company please share if Mercari has mislead or has denied a rightful claim just to keep the profits.

I have been on Marcari for years, have sold and purchased thousands of $$ worth of items. Their costs keep increasing but that's not the worst of it. Their customer service is criminal and the business is a scam, they do not protect their buyers and refuse to do legitimate returns simply to make money and avoid paying shipping fees. This has happened on multiple occasions over the past year with me when they used to be much better about returns. The last item was completely disgusting, dirty, pilled and the seller listed it as "Like New" and they refused the return and paid the seller. This time, I purchased a Blue and Black camp chair bundle for $100. I received a RED and black chair, in their return policy it says if the item received is a vastly different color, it qualifies for a return. I sent them photos of the red chair I received, which also had HOLES IN IT even though it was listed as new, and they're refusing the return it and releasing payment to the seller again! If you want to lose money on items you didn't purchase/that weren't as described then, by all means, use Mercari. Because your purchase is not protected as they lie and say it is.

I was a first time user of Mercari, and because of the nightmare that followed with Customer Service, it will be my last time. I am use to Ebay and Marketplace, which work WITH the customer. Mercari didn't seem to even want to understand where I was coming from, kept sending "generic" emails, and in the end honored the dishonest seller even with my proof. So totally frustrating!

I was selling on the platform for 3 years. Recently I reactivated my account, the process is a pain... It took them 2 weeks to help out. I posted a Chanel Necklace, I got an email stating someone reported it as fake. I have been selling luxury item on the platform, never had this happened. Moreover it is a 100% real item. I emailed customer service, they said intellectual l team will reach out to me. No one did and it has been a month. I emailed them again, no responds. This platform is ridiculous- if you took someone advice that the item is not real, at least provide reason. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ONLY BIAS BUYER.

After almost a year and a half of being a Mercari user, with 288 positive reviews and excellent comments, Mercari suspended my account and immediately after my deposit direct month ago. I understand the reason, although it seems to me exaggerated. I do not want to belong to the site, it is not loyal, it does not provide good service to the client.The problem is that it does not want to return my refundIt, is absurd that because for a long time I passed my refund to my bank account, sending it and receiving merchandise and never had a problem. I've read the app reviews, I'm sorry I did not do it before. Today Mercari kept my refund. Although I always kept in touch, I gave them the requested information, I NEVER got an answer. No adviser contacted me. I want to know who is responsible for supervising the cases. I hope for a prompt and effective response. His procedure is not constitutional. I just want my 200 dollars back. I put a lot of time, dedicatin, and effort on them.

If someone or a group of friends with different selling handles is selling the same item your selling they will gang up on you and report your item as "prohibited" and get your item removed... hence taking out the competition. I've seen this over and over. I also believe that employees of Mercari non existent customer service sell on the Mercari Platform and if you sell the same item for less your account will magically get terminated and Mercari will keep the money in processing that you have earned. To get your money you will have to file a complaint with the FTC and BBB and your money will eventually get released.

I only started using this website a few weeks ago. I bought a dress without asking the seller about the material of the dress, which might I add was not listed. Well I received the dress and it was a horrible nightmare. It was made of the cheapest material and looked nothing like the dress advertised for sale. I contacted Mercari and was told they will respond in 1-2 days. 30 minutes later Mecari responded with NO REFUND WILL BE GRANTED. Not even a credit nothing. The worst customer service ever. They don't stand by the merchandise that's advertised on there website... BIG lesson learned!

Don't waste your time with this company! Customer service is horrible! They will ignore your emails or take 17 plus hours to reply. They are a Japan company so I think there's an issue with time difference and communication or lack there of. They kick you off if a customer claims you are selling unauthentic items, regardless if you have proof of authenticity. That's the only way a customer can return something is by stating it's unauthentic. You can give the codes to the manufacturer and they can tell you if an item is authentic or not, even if you give Mercari a receipt or a letter from the manufacturer, they don't care and allow them to send a new and sealed item that was opened by the buyer back. I filed a claim with the BBB because they weren't responding to my messages and three days later they shut my account down. I have enough proof to take them to court, but why bother! I prefer to just inform people of them instead! Don't waste your time with them, selling or buying!

Three days on Mecari and they deleted my account entirely for selling non-authentic card but the card is sealed and authenticated by SGC so I've had to deal with pore costumer service and had to redirect packages I shipped. When they shut my account off for no reason they also refunded the buyer so hopefully I'll get my cards back?but I had to pay $34 in USPS fees to intercept the packages plus I lost $10.34 in original shipping cost. I have created a case at the Better Business Bureau. What a nightmare read the reviews and roll the dice! If your selling on Mercari your chances of loosing money are greater than you making money! This isn't the first complaint I've seen for someone getting suspended for no reason! Stick with eBay and Etsy they are safe and secure places to sell unlike Mercari! I still haven't received my cards back and there was two sales I had to intercept using USPS. It's your nightmare if you choose to trust this company! Only one breaking any policies here is Mercari! SELLERS BEWARE!

Ordered a "Lenola sweater" It is a cheap knock off. No tag inside the sweater except one that says, "Made in China." Says you can return if you message them within three days. NO WAY TO MESSAGE THEM. They have no intention of letting you return anything! I honestly wonder if their sellers are all fake too just to sell knock off items!

Seller CCellison sent me fake Louis Vuitton purse. I was lucky enough to be refunded, but if you click "item received" or rate seller your item is no longer able to be returned. They're still letting user ccellison sell on the site when she is clearly a fraud. There is no way she couldn't have known the purse she sent was fake. It even said "Rackaged in France"

They stand between you and the seller and when there is a problem with seller no service to back you up. I bought a computer and it had a p as sword on it and I couldn't contact the seller and could get in touch with Mercari service. Lesson learned and taught.

I had 5 stars 1300 ads 1000 items sold. Closed my account for selling fake stuff, NOT TRUE! They never responded to me & i sent countless messages. If i was going to sell fake stuff i wouldnt have taken the time to post 1300 ads. THAT TAKES ALONG TIME!

Ordered perfume from a seller, I was so excited to receive it so sprayed it as soon as it arrived only to be completed disappointed and offended as it smelled of alcohol then diluted fragrance. I contacted both Mercari and the seller. Of COURSE the seller was not willing to take back her disgusting bottle of alcohol/ whatever the hell else was in there. Mercari was of absolute NO HELP. I explained to them sellers lose nothing over a return they get their item back as a buyer we get our money taken with useless or in authentic JUNK it's really sad that there is no protection for buyers since it's our money and time we put into this business.

Thought I was purchasing a Juicy Couture bag and was sent a Lancome gift tote (you know the kind you get free with purchase). I tried to reach out to Mecari, they don't give you a way to contact them. I had to get the email through my PayPal account, the email was undeliverable. The bag was $30 bucks so not really worth my time to fight it. I just hope that if anyone has an issue you dont need help from Mecari. I can't get a hold of the seller. Buyer beware!

Company claimed that I listed prohibited Baseball Cards, They were in fact 1989 Topps/Bowman Reprint HOFer Cards. I noted in my listings that they were Reprints and listed them for $2-5. They suspended my account and are holding $600 of my past sales balance. My satisfaction rate was 100 % positive and I had 75 Followers in two months. My balance was going to be used to visit two sick Family members in Florida. Please stay away from this platform. Total SCAM!

Every seller has GREAT reviews because you can't review them if you are unhappy with your purchase and want to return the item. Over half of the coins I tried to purchase were fakes. I couldn't rate any of the sellers because I returned the coins. Every ine of the sellers had great ratings!

I was scammed by a seller on this site: Mylo & Coco's Finds. They sold me a SONY cassette tape recorder that did not play, did not record, would not even move a tape forward or backward. I then found that I could not log onto the Mercari site to make a complaint. The site said my password was wrong. When I reset the password, they said that one was also wrong. After a week of email and phone calls, they finally told me they'd give me "store credit" to use on the Mercari site - which I can't log onto. Ha ha ha. I will be throwing the tape recorder in the garbage.

The comment by Mercari is an outright lie. I have weeks of emails showing that Mercari doesn't allow you to return an item no matter what (now they're claiming they do which is as bogus as it is laughable) and I have copies of emails where I show proof that a seller sold me a knock-off Kyllie Cosmetics lip kit (which they claim is authentic) and Mercari only stating that i can return it. Nothing is done against the seller who racked up a whopping 500+ reviews of people complaining of knockoffs sales (I sent over a dozen emails on this topic and Mercari just responds with form replies). Not a single ad was deleted. I ended up reporting Mercari, with copies of all the communications, to the FBI cyber crimes unit. They don't care if someone sells a knockoff as long as they get their profit!

Blatantly allows the sale of fakes (If you report any wrongdoing you get a virtual shrug and a 'just return it). WORSE if something breaks. I ordered a nail polish lot through them which was shipped without protection (by the seller). Not much of a surprise that it arrives so mangled that my mail lady had to use a special tray to keep it from damaging the other mail. Mercari's idea of a solution. Return it. Except that the mail doesn't take broken glass without wrapping in a cardboard box. No photographic evidence or confirmation from the post changes anything about their ridiculous position and leaves you with a dripping box of broken crap.
