I sold a rare playstation game and used their Mercari prepaid shipping using USPS. I packaged and shipped the game within the 3 business days. USPS lost the game in transit and Mercari says I wasn't protected because I didn't follow shipping protocol. What? This did not make any sense. I later found out that the pre paid shipping label was not insured. Mercari is a cheap dishonest company with terrible customer service. Going back to using Ebay because I would have been protected!
They are a complete MESS. Can't figure out how to fix their own mistakes and you constantly have issues with your credit card.

Good for selling items but if buyer wants a return... you will be left in the dark. Mercari will "investigate" supposedly. Never know why customer wanted return and Mercari won't ask you anything. Very one sided.
Should be minus 5 stars. Bought item and did not realize once you place review you are no longer covered for refund. They give you reminders which prompt you to review. I bought phone which had to be activated BUT I wrote looks physically OK but won't know until activated. Went to Sprint to activate and it COULD not be activated due to flaw. I contacted the company and they said too late Out of luck because of review. The site says guarantee if not as described but they refuse and actually and criticized me for attempting to contact seller. I Suggested he take back and try to activate. I offered to pay shipping both ways and IF IT IS ACTIVATED. I think I have been reasonable in my approach but they are steadfast and are not recognizing guarantee due to NOT AS DESCRIBED. I am a 100% Combat disabled veteran on pension. It's only 105.00 but it's principal. They should be forced to return my money. I have been fair and they are unreasonable.
I shipped an item to a customer that ended up being damaged during shipment. The customer notified me of the issue and I followed the instructions according to the Mercari website which says that I have to file a claim with the shipper which happened to be UPS. I filed a claim, let them know how much the item was and they submitted a claim for me but because Mercari is the person in charge of the label, they settled the claim with them instead of me. Long story short, mercury says that they will not reimburse me the money because I filed the claim myself which is bull$#*!, because I followed their instructions. On top of that they tried to say that I didn't even ship my order on time which is bull$#*!. So basically I'm out $50 and they get to keep the money from the claim. This is bull$#*! and they are crooks for stealing my money that belongs to me. So the customer gets her money back but I don't get anything but a slap in the face. Disgusting company and I will spread this to all their customers.
Mercari can be good for certain items. Some people are honest and sell items they describe thoroughly. Other times people sell items describing they are good or like new and you'll get garbage that the homeless wont even take. There's been a couple of times I've tried to return items that I received that were falling apart when arrived. They quickly declined and wont follow up. They copy and past the same message everytime saying sorry but your return doesn't seem like a valid reason. It's soo bizarre because you can clearly see in the picture that certain items are defective. This has me to believe that they dont even look at the pictures or read you're reason for return. It's very frustrating that you cant talk to someone on the phone or explain your side of story. Even when you buy the items and the seller hasn't shipped it in 2 weeks they will make you wait to cancel. Mercari has one the worst customer service that I've ever experienced.
They are a bunch of crooks! I wish I was able to rate them ZERO stars! I ordered a dash camera, for my car. It arrived DEFECTIVE - it CONTINUOUSLY shuts on and off! I tried to return it, customer service just tells me that the transaction has ended! Apparently, they only give you THREE days to get your item, install it, find that there's a problem with it, and dispute it! After those three days, their system AUTOMATICALLY rates & closes your transaction for you, if you haven't made any contact with them! This is ABSURD! The "customer service" was ABSOLUTELY NO HELP WHATSOEVER! Don't waste your money, buy from a reputable company!

This site is run by a bunch of lazy reps. They don't read what the questions or comments are. They just reply with generic respond like you are mentally challenged. They deactivate your listing without any investigation or not following their OWN rules when your listing gets flagged for whatever reason. If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time to list your stuff there. There are other better selling platforms.
I was charged for a b item that I canceled because if no tracking information in 5 days. And I sent messages about this problem and they told me to wait until day 7 for a refund; but they completed my sale, paid the seller and even gave her a 5 star rating. When I filed a dispute with my bank; I was told my account was going to be closed after my other orders are delivered. What kind of scam are they trying to run! I'm not the one. Keep all your records. Don't shop here at all
Bought an expensive mobile device. Sale ad stated, sprint device, unlocked, and clean meid. All which were lies. It's a LOCKED, MetroPCS, stolen phone. Mercari rates transactions on their own after day 5. Therefor Mercari states they can NOT help me with a stolen device I purchased.

Not to mention the fact that I just got scammed by one of their sellers and instead of allowing me to return the item to the seller for a refund and getting my money back they told me that I should just resell the useless items to someone else (so I would then essentially be scamming someone else so I could get my money back) What kind of of corrupt website would want me to turn around and do that to someone else and make them a victim too, just to get my money back? Amazon and Ebay its better than Mercari. Mercari website it's suck. I will never order or buying to this website again. Because my experience to them. Ordered something, seller never made contact and didn't respond to my message. Here are the problems with Mercari: 1. At that point I only had the option for them to contact the seller and get back to me. I couldn't just cancel, even though by then it was late and I didn't trust that seller anymore. 2. They canceled it, but then there was no option to review the seller, so my irresponsible seller gets to keep his 5-star rating. In other words, the very worst sellers get a pass. 3. There is NO WAY TO CONTACT MERCARI! Every single contact link on their site led back to the virtual help FAQs. That's ridiculous. And for that reason alone, I will never order from them again.
Do not buy online through Mercari. I purchased a Dyson hair styling system that was listed as new under manufacturer warranty. It arrived; I registered it with Dyson. Three days later Dyson tells me it is COUNTERFEIT. Mercari tells me they won't refund because I had three days to return it - mind you two of those days were weekend. Scammers get better customer service than the customers that get scammed. The first time I was scammed, I purchased a laptop. The minute the purchase was complete the seller marked as shipped. Then proceeded to message me several times, I believe asking me to pay outside of Mercari, because admin kept deleting her messages. After several days of tracking not available, I messaged seller and Mercari. Seller never responded. Mercari informs me that the seller said she did ship the package. I believe it was about 2 weeks later that they finally closed the case. Silly me, I figured since in all the years of buying and selling online, and never been scammed, it wouldn't happen twice. Very next purchase, scammed again. It took 2 weeks to be delivered, to find dead pixels on the screen and the disk drive doesn't work. I got a total run around. They had me send pictures 5 or 6 times, through the Mercari site, email and text messages. Then they closed that case and opened a new one for the same purchase, and requested the same pictures again. I sent them 2 more times. After that they quit responding. I opened a case with PayPal. I'm sure they will resolve soon. Meanwhile this is a message I received from Mercari "The PayPal account associated with this Mercari account has recently initiated a payment dispute.

I was a first time user of Mercari, and because of the nightmare that followed with Customer Service, it will be my last time. I am use to Ebay and Marketplace, which work WITH the customer. Mercari didn't seem to even want to understand where I was coming from, kept sending "generic" emails, and in the end honored the dishonest seller even with my proof. So totally frustrating!
