I would give it 5 stars, but they added seller fees on top of paying taxes. A $9 item would earn you $3. Seems so unfair. But other than that, my items sell fast and I have made quite a bit selling on here.
This seller is a fraud. Do not buy from him you'll never get your item. I bought a backpack on Dec 13th. 5 days later I messaged seller and he replied that his printer broke and he would go to his office the next day to print a label and try his hardest to ship item that evening. A few days later I messaged him again to see if he was able to ship the item I purchased but he would never respond back to me. Today I told him I wanted a refund and he sent me a nasty message back in return.
I'm new here, I've placed 2 orders cancelled 1st because of very unreliable seller, ok so made 1 more order it says shipped FedEx to arrive today, FedEx shows sits at my house my house 5 minutes, doesn't deliver a thing, I reckon he just took off with my item, it was same guy as 1st no delivery date

I sold an item on Mercari, it weighted less than 8 oz's I dropped the item off at the post office, by the time it reached the buyer it gained 5lbs, so Mercari charged me $14.51 the entire amount of the sale. When I explained to them that it wasn't true, they did nothing! I had the buyer verify that the package was less than 8oz's still they did nothing. I showed them that 2 other sellers sold the same item and what they paid for shipping they still did nothing. They did nothing to show me that the post office charged an additional amount for shipping they just took my money. I had sold 40 items on the Mercari site and received 5 stars for every sale, but they still did nothing to help me! If the post office made a mistake so be it, but with Mercari only the seller is at fault. Mercari does nothing to help or protect their seller. So if you are considering selling on this site, don't do it!

I've bought many items from different sellers, only a few that were good. Most are rude, won't assist if there's a problem and could care less if you ever receive your item and won't refund because only Mercari can do that. I bought a coffee mug from a seller, she shipped it in an envelope with a couple pieces of air bubble which was flat when it arrived. Mug shattered! Took two days for Mercari to respond at which time I was instructed to send additional photos. I was then told I would receive a full refund. They didn't refund me but gave me credit to buy something else. Another two days went by and many emails before Mercari responded. Another seller said he shipped item using slowest method because it was cheapest and I had no choice in shipping method. 2 1/2 weeks later I received item from 3 states away. He also lectured me on the state of the world! As another rater said " where do these people come from" is right! I'm trying to delete my account but Mercari won't let me until all ratings are completed. BTW, Mercari gave seller 5 stars on my behalf and released funds to her after I reported damaged item. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this site!

I have had my account deleted due to false accusations and have had zero interest in resolving this matter. Assumptions should not be acted upon, this is a bad business practice. When called out on BS assumptions, Mercari ignores the consumer or gives a generic copy/paste response, same one, every single time. There is no customer service, this is fail number one. Fail two would be being super Nazi like. This is America. In America, we have freedoms. Innocent until proven guilty kind of thing. Which requires evidence. Evidence Mercari doesn't have because they're going off of an assumption. Again, I reached out, to get the copy/paste response & now am being ignored. False accusations. I look forward to the lawsuit that is inevitable in the years to come, between $#*! customer service and STEALING money that is not rightfully theirs. Ya know, theft, lies, deceit. These are ILLEGAL & one day, you'll have your $#*! bit, and I cannot wait. Now, "kindly", as you enjoy saying in your copy/paste, stop sending me app notifications, emails, surveys, etc. and "kindly" shove it up your thieving, lying asses and $#*! off. Have a great day!

Mercari is an all around scam and identity-theft ring. They will lock up your funds unless you give them your bank account and social security information. Someone bought a pair of shoes from me and I shipped them promptly and the buyer was satisfied, but Mercari would not release my funds because they demanded my social security number and bank account number for "banking regulation reasons" or some nonsense like that. I decided to eat the loss on the shoe sale and delete my mercari account because it's not worth allowing them to steal my identity. There are tons of other people out there who had thousands of dollars in limbo who desperately submitted their private info to Mercari in hopes of getting their funds released but then Mercari shut down their accounts, swallowed their money and kept all their personally identifying information. This is a total theft ring. Both buyers and sellers have been victimized. If you have fallen victim to Mercari's scam, please report them to the FTC as well as Better Business Bureau. The people operating Mercari need to go to jail.

They are a bunch of crooks! I wish I was able to rate them ZERO stars! I ordered a dash camera, for my car. It arrived DEFECTIVE - it CONTINUOUSLY shuts on and off! I tried to return it, customer service just tells me that the transaction has ended! Apparently, they only give you THREE days to get your item, install it, find that there's a problem with it, and dispute it! After those three days, their system AUTOMATICALLY rates & closes your transaction for you, if you haven't made any contact with them! This is ABSURD! The "customer service" was ABSOLUTELY NO HELP WHATSOEVER! Don't waste your money, buy from a reputable company!

Had a seller ask me for a positive review, as a buyer I was happy to oblige but the seller left a "poor" and unfavorable review, because item was shipped with missing parts. I paid for the item, seller was going to discount item, we agreed on price and he didn't refund. Said he will refund after I leave him a positive review. Contacted Mercari and they offered no help. Stay away from this scammy site, at this rate Amazon, ebay, OfferUp, LetGo and CL is a better platform and I wouldn't want to recommend CL but it's still better than Mercari.

I purchased a beebo bottle holder and when it arrived it reeked of marijuana and cigarettes smells. It was indicated that the item was new. I Requested to return it to the seller because of course I'm not going to use this near my baby. I was declined a return because apparently they can't confirm that the item actually smells so therefore they don't except smells/odor as an Acceptable reason to return an item. I have never heard of such a ridiculous policy because how was I supposed to know it was going to smell like drugs upon receiving it. Now I am out of my $17 and had to throw it away. This company does not care about customer satisfaction. They have more protection towards the seller than they do the buyer. FYI the company is Japanese. Look them up on BBB.

My daughter buys and sells and has her own fashion site, she uses POSHMARK at times and loves it. MERCARI is a NON USA based scam company has over 300- of her money that she legitimately sold items to customers and never got paid. I can only hope moving forward that we can get a client based lawsuit placed against them. It's WRONG and they ARE NOT LEGITIMATE in any way at all, DO NOT USE THIS SITE!

My complaint is not with the sellers it is with Mercari itself. As a seller with over 100 sales and a 5 star rating, I find it irritating when I have a question for them and there is NO WAY to direct a question without going through a lot of BS. They also have shipping charges that KEEP going higher and higher. They higher the shipping goes the LESS I sell because people can't afford the high cost of shipping. Signed Unhappy Seller

I purchased two mugs as a gift for a friend. The seller sent them in a box with no packing material. One of the mugs broke in transit. On Mercari's website, they tell you to contact the seller if there is an issue with a purchase/delivery. I contacted the seller and she said it was totally her fault and that she would file a claim for a refund. After a few days, I contacted the seller again and she said she had reached out to Mercari's support team and was told they were looking into the matter. She said she would contact them again. I could not find support contact information on the website, so I googled it and emailed Mercari the information and pictures. I was told that even though, as directed by them, I contacted the seller first, because I didn't contact them also within 72 hrs., I was ineligible for a refund. Instead they offered me a 10% discount on a future purchase on an item priced at $20 or more. I feel I am entitled to a refund of at least 1/2 the total cost ($31.45) including shipping, as only one mug was broken and unusable. I have filed a disputed charge claim with my credit card company.

The Mercari website is not user friendly. I recommend buying/selling on another platform, such as Etsy, EBay, Poshmark, etc. Customer (dis)service is difficult to access from their website. Two thumbs down.

Ive been buying and selling on this app for over a year now. Im currently having an issue with a buyer who is trying to scam me out of my money but Mercari seems to give zero $#*!s. Ive gotten one response in the app in the past few days. Ive tried calling, messaging in the app, emailing, Twitter, Facebook, EVERYTHING! I was told on Twitter that theyd be with me shortly, and that was yesterday morning! On the email they sent back, they confirmed the item was delivered yet said they expected the item would be delivered soon and if I wanted to refund the buyer I could! WTF?! Why the hell would that even be an option if I did my part yet theyre just scamming me?! These people are near damn impossible to get ahold of and it seems like theyre siding with the buyer which is unfair considering her one review is poor and explains what Im going through right now too! Id sue them if I could. Stay far, far away... and get your $#*! together Mercari.

Mercaris customer service is pathetic. I shipped an item with tracking. Its shows delivered but the buyer claims she didnt receive it. Basically if your a seller all the buyer has to do is claim it wasnt received even though tracking shows otherwise. Still waiting for Mercari to pay me for the item. At first theyll respond with wait 5 days but once the 5 days is up & you respond to Mercari for a response customer service seems to disappear. Pathetic selling app BEWARE. Soon or later you get screwed on this app. Your better off on eBay even though you pay higher fees at least you have a customer service number. MERCARI IS A TOTAL SCAM, stay away
