AFTER MANY MANY 5 STAR REVIEWS FROM BUYERS, I GOT ONE TRANSACTION THAT WAS LOST IN THE USPS TRANSIT AND I CONTACTED MERCARI TO HELP ME FIND THE ITEM FOR MY BUYER.
NEXT DAY I SEE THEY CANCELLED MY SOLD ITEM ( ITEM IS IN TRANSIT TO BUYER) WHEN I CONTACTED THEM ABOUT BEING CONCERNED OF LOOSING THE MONEY ( FEW HUNDRED DOLLAR GOLD JEWELRY) THEY SAID THEY CANCELLED BECAUSE ITEM WAS NOT DELIVERED AFTER SO LONG. MEANS THEY DONT GIVE A $#*! ABOUT WHAT THEY SAY IN THEIR POLICY
ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS GETTING THE COMMISSION AND STAYING SAFE TO CONTINUE GETTING MONEY FROM SELLERS THEY DONT GIVE A CRAP ABOUT
HUGE FRAUD, USE OTHER SITE SUCH AS POSHMARK, AT LEAST THEY ARE MORE PROFESSIONAL NOT THIS STUPID SITE
I sent out an expensive item that got stuck pending while transferring between FedEx and USPS. Mercari assumed that package was lost in transit, and cancelled it on the same day the tracking updated to a new location. I reached out to multiple sources for customer support but no one was able to fully correct this issue. They blamed me and told me if it isn't delivered on time it will get cancelled. I have been going crazy trying to intercept this item, and begging Mercari for a refund but they're so convinced it's lost in transit. Now someone somewhere is getting an expensive free item, it's probably going to be a good weekend for them while it's feeling like my worst over here.
I wish I had read all the reviews before even deciding to become a seller on this app, I deactivated all my items and I'm going to try to sell on another app. For anyone reading this, just don't do it, it's not even worth it anyways all they do is take take take.
I am like a snake that got stepped on but the only thing I can do to bite back is leave a bunch of one star reviews and try to inform other people.
After selling over 350 items, with virtually all of them except 3 being 5 star reviews, I had a sale and the item arrived damaged/broken to the buyer. The buyer filed a claim per Mercari's procedures and they (Mercari) said it is actually a case of not as described vs damaged so their employee changed it to that. The buyer tried to get them to correct the mistake they (Mercari) made multiple times (at least 5 emails per the buyer) but got so frustrated with them because they latched onto the "not as described" thing. After I got involved, it got worse and worse. They are difficult, if not impossible, to get in touch with. It is extremely frustrating to know that they have made all the fees they have off of me and can't refund a $36 item to me despite both me and the buyer providing them with photographic evidence of the item's damage. This has left a sour taste in my mouth after being very happy with their service since starting. If you do use Mercari and have an issue with an item damaged in transit, be prepared to not have them support you at all and have no ability to deal with a reasonable person there. Next, I'm filing a complaint with the BBB. The picture is the part that comes on an electric cord that you turn the dial on to turn the light on/off. This is what Mercari terms "not as described" vs "damaged". Does anyone know of any legal recourse of how I could pursue this against Mercari?
Mercari ONLY allows feedback to be left after an item is ACCEPTED! My seller NEVER shipped the item! There was NO communication. Yet, they still maintain a 5 star rating, because ONLY the good transactios get feedback! There is NO WAY to warn potential buyers of BAD SELLERS. Meanwhile, my funds were tied up for weeks! SHAME on Mercari! Protect your buyers!
So you are tired of selling on Amazon and Ebay and want to try something new with hopes that it will be better? I can give you a quick break down between Ebay and Mercari.
Ebay - pros: Instant payment, instant transfers, bigger market and longer history
Cons: Instant refunds to anyone that makes any claim ever and takes it out of your pocket. They have higher fees between paypal, shipping and Ebay selling fees.
Mercari: pros: Smaller network, less scammer buyers. Purchase is finalized after 3 days from delivery. Easy shipping, easy listing.
Cons: No customer service, ever. No call center, all done online with rude agents who just flat out don't care. You have to wait to get paid until after delivery then you have to wait several days for transfer. They will randomly approve unnecessary, unjustified returns. The moment the package is returned to you, they refund your money. Even if the buyer stole from you with the return, they will still refund the money without any opportunity to dispute the item's returned condition. Even if you have video evidence that the buyer stole from you, they will still give the money back to the buyer and completely ignore your claims. If you sell with Mercari, they can and WILL steal from you!
Bottom line, Ebay is less risk but I recommend never selling any electronics through any online source. Go with Facebook yard sale sites where it can't come back to you. Good luck!
I bought a remote for a Christmas present, and it turned out to be defective. But because they demand acknowledgement of satisfaction with three days of receipt, I could not return it. It was sitting under the tree wrapped for that time. It was only after the holiday that it was opened and tried to be used. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY. They do not care about the customer. If I could have given zero stars, I would have done so.
I started selling Feb 10 2019 during a snow storm with nothing to to but look at piles if stuff to sell.
I listed a bunch of baby clothes, cloth diapers and household stuff. Excitement grew as my pending balance did.
I quickly found that FedEx is very slowly but the cheapest method to ship.
On Feb 22 I ran into my first issues. FEDEX dropped a mini crib off at my door. Tape is falling off, box falling apart. How did they accept this?!?
No interior packing, bubble wrap or anything. This mini crib is values at $340 plus tax. I paid $153 plus $30 shipping.
Wheels bent, damage to paint, and the heavy duty staples from reused box left 12 rusty indentions on the side of the crib.
Mercari waited 4 days to finally get back to me except I didn't get the notification. I had been writing everyday. I got one a day later when they said I didn't respond and closed the case. I had opened a case with FedEx but that will take 10-15 days and the money goes to the seller. Now I paid $183 for a junk crib and the seller keeps money and possibly keeps insurance money up to $340 for replacement! I even offered to just take $75 to cover cost if new wheels, paint touch up from company and shipping/tax. Seller agreed but then disappeared.
Only way to contact company is to go through help center but they don't respond. And when they do, you don't get a notification.
They also delete messages between you and other party involved. Take screen shots right away.
TRASH COMPANY doesn't follow their made up rules. Bought something that took 2 weeks for seller to ship supposedly I should have been able to cancel after 3 days
DENIED my cancellation request as well as my request to reject the item I NO LONGER NEEDED. Lets just make up rules pretending to protect buyers and not follow them.
I purchased a bracelet from a seller on their site. I asked the seller if the bracelet was real and they said yes. When I took it to get cleaned I found out it was fake. I purchased the bracelet on May 10th. Today is July 7th. Per their website you only have 15 days to claim anything on a purchase. Well, I only found out this late because I wanted to have my bracelet cleaned. Mercari said there is nothing they can do. I paid $300+ for this item and they couldn't even off a $100 credit, nothing. This was fraud and basically my money was stolen for an item that I was told was real and was actually fake. Mercari offered nothing but a robotic response. I have contacted the BBB and filed a complaint, including one for criminal activity.
I was a loyal customer but I will never buy anything from this marketplace again.
Don't waste your time with Mercari app.Go to other site for peace of mind. I had 60+ all great reviews from sellers and buyers.
I introduced my sister and my husband to download the app. They asked them to delete as they judge it is from the same user. So They deleted it.
I had no problem with any payment to all my sellers and buyers. I got 60+ all great reviews. They revoke my account from the signs of unusual payment activity.!? I didn't understand what is it about? So I emailed them. This is how they replied without giving the certain reason. I still have some credit left. They charge 2% to withdraw money if you have less then 10.
It is really waste of your time if you have to take picture, write contents and etc, then they delete them all without knowing what did you do wrong.

They're complete frauds and customer service is non-existent. I was sold a falsely advertised skirt. It was neither the brand nor even the size advertised. I immediately sent a detailed description and multiple pictures clearly showing the incorrect size (size large when it was adveryised as a size small), lack of brand (supposed to be Windsor), and very cheap construction (further inconsistent with the brand if they were to even argue that the tags had been cut out; no lining no store tags, the sizing tag is clearly not of the store, shedding sequins)They denied my request, ignored my additional appeals for help, and blocked me from contacting the seller. I posted a review several months later and was contacted by Mercari who after wasting much of my time... agreed to give me store credit that would expire in 30 days. When I said that was unacceptable they said I was abusive to their staff and that there would be no other offers. There is no customer support and the the "support" that exist are a complete farce. DO NOT USE MERCARI. If there's a class-action lawsuit against their unlawful asses, count me in!
Better to flush your money down the toilet. SELLERS WILL LEAVE BAD FEEDBACK TO BUYERS AND HARASS THE BUYERS INTO LEAVING A RATING BEFORE THE ITEM IS RECEIVED. STICK TO EBAY WHERE THEY ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Its no longer cheaper using this app compared to eBay. If you have a problem you are $#*! out of luck. About as bad as Poshmark.
No response to issues, they'll take your money but when an item doesn't arrive you have to fight to get your monetary refund back. What a waste of my time and effort.
I should have researched Mercari more than I had because I would have saved myself from wasting my money and time. I've only been using the site as a buyer and the reviewers are correct when they say that there is basically no customer service. I received a box full of broken items, because the seller had done a horrible job of packing the items, and I am now stuck with it after wasting over $70 on it. The seller has done nothing to help with the situation except to say that they were worried about sending the items because the breakable items were quite heavy. So they worried about sending items, that they were more than willing to sell, then they put them in a box with basically no packing? All I keep receiving, in responses from customer service, is the same message which is:
"Thanks for reaching out. We are currently experiencing an unusually high volume of inquiries. Response times may be longer than usual.
We will be getting back to you as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience.

Don't make the same mistake I did by not heeding the warnings about Mercari.
I had been a successful user of Mercari for about 3 months before my account was suspended and revoked because of "multiple payment methods" Not only is that a completely bogus reason, they refused to refund me what was in my balance and credits. I contacted support about 5 times and no one could explain anything and then they blocked me from customer service. BEWARE because at any given moment you could have your account revoked for no valid reason and you will lose any balance you have. MERCARI AND ITS STAFF ARE A FRAUD!

Said my package was delivered 4 days before I got it and after 3 days they automatically rate the seller even if your dissatisfied and once it's rated I can no longer dispute anything I got a broken game and cannot return it because the said I got it last Thursday when infact I got it on monday so when I received the package it had already been rated so I could no longer return before I even had it delivered! The help center wont help it's not there issue excuse me!?!

If you are a real seller, be very careful using this site! They will shut down your site and keep your money just due to user error! You can have a 5 star review< sell thousands of an item and if someone complains due to their own user error, they will close your account, keep your money and their is no way to contact anyone regarding this issue! I've never written a bad review in my life!
