I purchased a pair of David Yurman earrings after congirming with the seller that they were real.
I took them to my jewler upon receipt for insurance appraisal to find out they were fake!
It happened several times with different purchases. Although Mercari touts they supervise this activity, they are doing nothing about it?
I even sent them notes for their supposed "experts", advising them on the tell tale signs to look at on these counterfeit items, but that fell on def ears.
They got tired of hearing from me point out to them all the counterfeit merchandise and closed my account? Buyer beware if you want to buy "authentic" merchandise!
They have very tricky policy restrictions when listing got removed them afterwards stated this item is prohibited
I am new to shopping with Mercari. I purchased a pair of fringe boots from one of their sellers this week and unfortunately I forgot to ask if the boots had a zipper. When they arrived they were slide-ins and my chubby foot and leg couldn't squeeze them on. I attempted a return and was denied. So buyers beware unfortunately sometimes when you are online shopping you choose your correct size but that doesn't necessarily mean it's always going to fit correctly and if that happens with this company you will not get your money back so you are better off going with Amazon or another company that makes returns much easier and values their customers. Online shopping should never be complicated.
Seller accepted my offer bid but couldn't process my payment. I tried to contact seller. You cant contact a seller until you verify your phone number. Well Mercari will not accept VOIP phone numbers or prepaid phone numbers.
What insanity. VOIP phones are about the only land line type phones in use today and I only use a prepaid Tracfone. I cant contact the seller he cant contact me. I tried a Discover Card and my PayPal account checking and credit cards. It will not accept anyone of them. I gave up and will never use mercari again.

I bought a monster high doll from a girl who was "just cleaning out her closet". I offered a certain amount, she counter offered, I accepted and the sale was instantly charged to my credit card. Then I waited. And waited. And waited… Mercari sent her nudges to ship… I messaged her after a week… she said she was sorry she intended to ship Monday, she'd been busy with work. I said that's fine! Monday came and went, no shipping. I asked her Tuesday did she have any intention in shipping the doll… then she canceled the sale. The money was refunded, but that's not the problem. The problem was I wanted that doll for my kids birthday… had plenty of time to get it, walked away from BETTER PRICED DOLLS because I'd already committed to this one… and to have her just decide to cancel, with no contact or explanation is annoying. And there's nothing I can do… I can't leave her a bad review, or even a neutral review. I can't contact mercari and say "Hey, this sucks…"
All I can do is delete the app and refuse to use it ever again, which is unfulfilling and unsatisfying. For this reason I decided to come here to at least warn people, while I personally was not scammed, they really don't do anything to make sure sellers are professional. There are no repercussions if they decide "Meh, I think I don't feel like going to the post office this month", and there's no way to contact customer service that I saw… if you want a guaranteed sale, there are plenty of sites that aren't Mercari to shop through!

She sold me a roomba j7* for $350 that advertised as in good condition. It arrived dead as door knob and she refuses to take it back. She is a very dishonest seller. I hope this review help others from being scammed by her
Mercari is a reselling website for pre owned or new items. Based in Palo Alto, California (so, subject to California consumer protection laws). Mercari's return policies seem designed to make you exasperated and frustrated. I messaged the seller asking about return and the seller said sure, send it back no problem. But mercari customer support still wants me to jump through return policy hoops. So I did, (at a health risk to me) but there still no action from them. Be aware of website's disregard for what you or the seller want. Total insanity. My advice: stay away.
I bought an inflatable raft. Sold as new condition and inspected. Used with a bad patch over a hole causing a leak. Mercari refused refund because I requested day 4 after receiving the boat and stated I had to respond within 72 hours of receiving delivery. At 72 hours Mercari posts an automated review of 5 stars to the seller. A deal on the boat and I will hopefully fix the patched hole and fix it, but I was lied to by the seller and Mercari refuses to acknowledge the problem. I will not do business with them again and advise anyone else to stay away as well. No way now for me to leave an actual review to the seller.
Imagine getting scammed on here by someone posing too be a mercari representative then contuine to harass you too scam you again I even called and asked what are they doing about people scamming on here since they "know" about it I was met with silence it's my first time using the app and I just don't know if I want too continue using it.

This is a decent place to buy and sell your new or used items. I have sold quite a few products on the app and everything went smoothly for me. I like that they only give people 3 days to report any issues before the payment goes through. It makes it harder for people to scam. I do think that there needs to be better customer service, especially for sellers. It would also be better if I was able to promote my items without lowering the price.
I ordered over 1700. 00 worth of product and have been fighting fighting them tooth and nail to get my money back. They sit there and say that they have insurance on your order, but then again if you get any packages stolen they refuse to do anything. I basically was not at home and someone came and stolen the packages off of my porch and even with the insurance they claim you get with the purchase I feel is a scam to make money off of us. I purchased through Mercari, but pay through zip and none of the companies want to do anything. They keep telling me after 60 days of fighting with them that I need to contact the shipping company and go through them. How are they going to refund me? Millions and Millions of packages get lost in transit all the time. I then disputed through my back about never receiving the products and then Mercari is going to tell me that I have to sit there and put it as a valid charge in order to get my money back and then sit there and tell me that I need to contact FedEx. This company is a full rip off and as you can tell from the previous comments they can't be trusted. They know what they are doing and I'm beginning to believe that I was never sent any product to begin with. Now I am out all this money and nothing to show for it. I can't dispute it through my card because they are sending my card company that it shows delivered and it never was.

I was sent a pair of shoes that literally fell apart the day after they arrived. Mercari refused to refund the purchase, gave the seller a great review, all because my complaint came in 7 minutes after their ridiculous "deadline". I sent them multiple e-mails, pictures, (there is no number to call) and just reiterated their "policy", and left me with no recourse.

Don't use this site! Item I purchased was broken. Company refused to help resolve the problem with the seller! The seller and I struck a deal to refund a portion of the sales price to have the item repaired. Mercari stepped in and prevented the deal that the seller and I mutually agreed to. Customer service did nothing but give me the runaround and repeatedly quote their return policy. NEVER USE THIS SERVICE!
I would give it 5 stars, but they added seller fees on top of paying taxes. A $9 item would earn you $3. Seems so unfair.
But other than that, my items sell fast and I have made quite a bit selling on here.

I sold a item on mercari. The item has insurance through the mercari site for sales. The item was lost in the mail, So I called customer support now there's no answer. So only choices I had left was to email them. The customer service there is very rude and wasn't any help at all they Closed my ticket and told me not to respond back to there email. I won't be using there service anymore due to this. I guess im just lost out on my item and my money. Think twice before shopping or selling there if something happens your just out of luck. BUYER BEWARE! ---Mercari is a TERRIBLE website for Buyers! I bought a Ralph Lauren lamp from buyer --- designertoyou --- based on the pictures she posted, but when I received the lamp it's a DULL green-aqua colour when in the pictures it was a Beautiful, Bright turquoise colour! I immediately messaged the seller telling her I was NOT Happy with the item and that I wanted to RETURN it. She NEVER RESPONDED AND BLOCKED ME! I contacted Mercari after the seller blocked me and they told me that the 3-day period for me to request to return it had passed -- AND THEY LEFT A 5-STAR REVIEW for the seller ON MY BEHALF WITHOUT MY CONSENT! I told Mercari support that I had contacted the seller within the 3 days but she never responded and instead blocked me. Mercari's response was that their procedure is that I was supposed to contact Them instead of the seller. Ok -- My bad there for not reading those rules --which are different from literally EVERY other buy. Sell website I've EVER used before - including Ebay, Craigslist, etc. This was only my 3rd purchase with Mercari and when the first item I'd bought from a different seller came with a damaged lampshade I did contact that seller who offered me a discount on a future purchase -- she didn't Block me. Sorry, but A BAD SELLER IS A BAD SELLER. And Mercari should have done something about -designertoyou- because of their Completely Inappropriate Response to me.
