I understand your sentiments about this, however, please know that sizing or fit is something that we can't accept as a reason that's why we encourage all our users to ask as many questions as possible before purchasing to ensure the item is what they are looking for.
Being a peer-to-peer marketplace, these items are shipped from individuals and do not pass through our possession at any time.
We have already released the funds to the seller and are unable to process a return for you. Since I do not have enough information to overturn their decision, we are required to allow it to stand.

I made an offer on item on mercari on May 29th. The seller didn't respond to or accept the offer until 15 minutes before the offer expired on May 31st. On June 1st, I received notification from mercari that my purchase would be shipping soon. Two days later, I received an update from the site saying they had sent a reminder to the seller to ship the item. Finally, on June 4th, I received tracking info from UPS saying a label was created on June 1st. As of now (June 8th), the status is still showing as label created, but UPS hasn't yet received the package. I have contacted customer service multiple times in the past week inquiring about the shipping, and then requesting cancellation of the sale. Mercari responded to my cancellation request by stating that they were unable to cancel since the item was already shipped. If the purchase ever shows up on my credit card, I will immediately dispute it as a fraudulent charge.
Now I have done what I should have prior to purchase - I have read the reviews on mercari. They have the worst review of any online selling site that I'm aware of. Their BBB reviews are even lower than their online reviews. If you are a buyer or seller, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this site.
Customer service is the WORST. They closed my account for nothing won't give anyone a chance to petition or explain the rules explicitly. I had posted a handbag and they immediately closed it. I had no idea it was against the rules to post a NON designer purse for sale.

I sold almost $200 item and shipped it using their FedEx label. The item got lost in transit and Mercari is refusing to cover me under their sellers shipping protection lying that my weight was incorrect. I even sent them the print screen from FedEx website with the weight that proves I put the correct number in the shipment. I've been selling on Mercari for years now with more than $300 5-star reviews but I'll be absolutely taking my sales somewhere else.
I used to love shopping on mercari for the odd "garage sale" style items you could find a fair price, but now it seems the prices have gone up and the sellers are less reliable. Out of the 4 purchases I have made within the last month I received 1 item and it was broken. I will be deleting the app here shortly and going back to craigslist. Save yourself some time and do the same.
I'm a serious seller on eBay, but use Mercari when eBay is giving me a hard time about an item-- usually b/c they think it contains 'hemp' when it doesn't or something similarly stupid. Listing on Mercari is easy, but I find the actual transaction once the item has sold is a headache. A buyer has NEVER been able to leave a rating for me without having to message me multiple times to say Mercari 'won't let them.' And since you don't get paid on Mercari until the buyer rates you, that's a problem. By the time each transaction is complete the buyer and I have messaged each other so many times I might as well put them on my Christmas card list. I only use it when I absolutely have to, and I dread it.

I have been scammed on Mercari twice within two months. The first time involved a seller not disclosing that the item was complete. It was sold as complete, but wasn't. My return was denied. Recently, I sold an item and the buyer, swapped out the item for the same, non-working item. Mercari allowed it. So basically, if you want to scam people, Mercari does not care. For those who are looking to sell, be wary. They will not listen to you and Mercari is no different than eBay. Find another place to sell.

I ordered a gift for my husband and had changed my address the month before. Mercari didn't allow me to remove my old address but I did indict my new home address. My husbands gift was mailed to my old address. Support sided with the seller and gave them 5 stars without any help to me. I had to file a dispute with my bank for my purchase lost. Then Mercari locked my account down and wouldn't let me message anyone or do a thing on my account. I had already purchased another item way before this happened. When I got it, it was spray painted all over and smelled horrible. Due to my previous dispute. They locked me out of my account so I wasn't able to contact that seller. Again, Mercari left 5 stars for me when I wouldn't have ever left that review. This company is a scam. They run from issues and only back the sellers. I'll never buy or sell with them. Stay far away.
Worst experience purchasing anything online. I wish I can give it zero stars. I received an item that didn't work and as I was trying to resolve it with the seller mercari gave the guy the money and an automatic great review. Of course the guy stopped communicating with me because apparently After 3 days you can't get a refund or can you return it. I was just on mercari trying to list some items and mobile site not letting me add pictures to listing so i take pictures on my phone to add them that way and pictures add but now i cant add what im selling price same as pictures was doing i try and get help but the only help i got was for something i didnt even need help with if i have a problum thats not autoloaded to responder then i dont get my problum fixed like wht im dealing with now and for them to have someone to talk to would be to much like right so thats way they dont have that eatherso as it stands i cant sale enythig until they see its a problum and fix it really bad for business
Mercari limited my account first claiming that they need identification, I tried to do that and they kept telling me that I am not responding to their emails which is not true.
They then asked me to send a picture of my driver license or photo of my passport information.
That was the most scary thing to do, I refused to do that, they closed my account permanently because of that.
I don't know any other website that will ask you such personal information so you can buy used and new items from random people.

Using Mercari is a nightmare. Many of the things you need to do can only be done on the app, which is not intuitive at all. After cycling through the same screens over and over for at least 8 cycles under the guise of security measures, I was finally able to log on and place an order. After two weeks the order had not shipped, even though I was charged immediately. I tried to contact the seller, but I couldn't receive my authentication text because my phone number had been tied to the wrong account. When I finally got that fixed, I contacted the seller to find out when my item would ship. Nothing. No contact. Crickets for a week. I finally tried again to get into my account and cancel the order only to be directed to use the app. You can't do anything on a regular web browser, it seems. Even when Mercari sends an email with a link to take some action, it can't be done because the web version has almost no useful features. That may be fine for those born in the 21st century who live on their phones and tablets, but I'm much more comfortable using my laptop, so when it comes to using Mercari in general, I'm forced onto a tiny screen with a poor user interface. I've now gotten through the hoops to request a cancellation for my unshipped item, and so I wait. No help so far from Mercari's so-called support, so I don't think there is any actual buyer protection. Even if I find a killer price on an item, I won't try to use Mercari to purchase it. The platform simply isn't worth the headaches, and I don't appreciate paying for items that I will never receive.

They could not declare my item authentic, because they kept asking for details that my item didn't have. To them, my designer bag, was not authentic. While on the platform other sellers are selling exactly the same bag, only a different color, properly declared authentic. Disappointing.
My first two purchases on Mercari were karat gold charm bracelets. The first one was advertised as solid gold with no clasp. After I received it I took it to my jeweler to have a clasp added. He told me that the bracelet and all except one of the charms were gold filled. I returned it for a refund.
