MERCARI CHANGE YOUR "FAST RESPONDER" CRITERIA SO AS NOT TO WASTE THE BUYER'S TIME. The "Fast Responder" rating is misleading. If a seller does not answer a question, the rating should be removed, so as not to mislead and waste the buyer's time. A seller that just got started has no sales history, and is only selling one item was given a misleading "Fast Responder" rating. The one item they are listing has no size description. There are four different sizes of that item, and it's hard to tell from the photos what size the item is because of the way the photos were taken. I asked the seller what size the item is, and the seller has not responded. The title and description do not list the size. Then, I saw that the seller went on long enough to lower the price of the item, but did not respond to my question. I wasted my time asking a question to a seller who has a "Fast Responder" rating, but is not even answering a simple question.
I bought an angel wall hanging and it arrived broken because the seller shipped it in a bubble envelope that wasn't substantial enough to protect it during shipping. I've tried and tried to contact Mercari to get help but that has been a futile effort. Don't ever shop with them if you want customer service. There isn't any. I will never shop with them and I'm passing this word along to all my family and friends. It is truly an awful shopping experience!
I tried to buy a laptop on Mercari. Seller tried to scam me and sent box of junk, it's now been 12 days since I returned the item and Mercari is still holding my money, they won't tell me.when they will be processing the refund. I have ordered from three different sellers. After a long delay they cancelled my order and refunded my money. My thoughts are why list it in the first place, either you want to sell it or not. Stay clear of Mercari.
After selling over 350 items, with virtually all of them except 3 being 5 star reviews, I had a sale and the item arrived damaged/broken to the buyer. The buyer filed a claim per Mercari's procedures and they (Mercari) said it is actually a case of not as described vs damaged so their employee changed it to that. The buyer tried to get them to correct the mistake they (Mercari) made multiple times (at least 5 emails per the buyer) but got so frustrated with them because they latched onto the "not as described" thing. After I got involved, it got worse and worse. They are difficult, if not impossible, to get in touch with. It is extremely frustrating to know that they have made all the fees they have off of me and can't refund a $36 item to me despite both me and the buyer providing them with photographic evidence of the item's damage. This has left a sour taste in my mouth after being very happy with their service since starting. If you do use Mercari and have an issue with an item damaged in transit, be prepared to not have them support you at all and have no ability to deal with a reasonable person there. Next, I'm filing a complaint with the BBB. The picture is the part that comes on an electric cord that you turn the dial on to turn the light on/off. This is what Mercari terms "not as described" vs "damaged". Does anyone know of any legal recourse of how I could pursue this against Mercari?
Dishonest sellers abuse the short returns window, sending used items advertised as NEW and gambling that the buyer will not process the return within Mercari's 3 DAY return policy. Then Mercari's return process is so lengthy that it is difficult for the buyer to complete the return within the 3day window! Then after return is complete and your refund is processed, Mercari does not allow the buyer to rate the sleazy seller and rates the seller positively! Un fn' real! Mercari needs to be fined or shut down for unfair trade practices!
When I first started Mercari it was a decent and legit site. Now anyone can just come on, make some fake listings and get away with it. I will never shop Mercari again. Nor will I sell on this platform either. Was scammed for the first time by someone who supposedly made a completed sell but it was not legit. Then it takes forever to get ahold of customer service. And when it's on the weekend it's impossible so the 3 days you are supposed to have to rate or dispute just goes by. Never again. The seller sent me an empty tiny envelope when I ordered shoes.
So many problems to complain about...#1. Not able to speak with a human...#2. No way to confirm delivery if item is marked undeliverable...#3. They give your money to seller even if you don't rate the delivery...so it's ripe for fraud! Most sellers are great and honest...but a handful are just scammers!
I bought an item off Mercari from a seller that was advertising an item made out of aluminum and when I received it the item was made totally of plastic and was defective. I received it while out of town for work and when I returned and found this I was told I couldn't contact the seller since it had been more than 3 days since I received it.
Stay away. Very far away. Basically full of scamers and crooks. Especially Pypertek store. They will stael your money.
5 days ago I received a ceiling light I had purchased, advertised as 'new'. It came without any of the parts necessary to mount it to the ceiling. So I reached out immediately. Support asked for photos and a detailed description (it wasn't very complicated -the initial message covered it) so I took and sent two photos that showed clearly the one and only item I received with a detailed description of the problem. They responded that they wanted more photos. I didn't see their message for 24 hours so they closed the case, finalized the order, and made it impossible for me to get a return or even post a review on their site. They automatically gave the seller a 5 star rating on my behalf apparently. How could they go and close a case like that? They basically said "sorry, you didn't send us enough pics within 24 hrs so we're not going to help you in any way." Unbelievable. And now, just 5 days after receiving the item I cannot return it; I'll just throw it in the trash because it is unusable without it's proprietary mounting hardware. I can't believe this kind of business practice is happening in 2023.
Of all the orders I have ordered I typically have not had too many issues but over the course of 8 months 3 of the orders I have purchased have been frustrating. One order from June of 22 the seller sent wrong Item, I know what I bought and what description section says, I tried to message seller and no response… then in November of 22 I offered an amount for a set of hair products the seller accepted offer and then never sent order, now am dealing with another order that the seller only sent one correct item, description section says one thing and never sent part of the order. When I messaged her she says sorry for the mistake and has the item but never offered to send, then when I ask her if she plans to send that item she says she needs my address and typically can't create a shipping label without my purchasing something else, are you kidding me? It's your problem seller not mine, figure it out…. It's not hard go to the post office or UPS, write my address on the envelope and they will print label…. So over this app…. Will not be using anymore… too many issues and stress just to get the items you order.
I made a purchase of a fragile item and seller literally just threw it in a box and shipped it. No packaging. I filed a dispute to return it for a refund, Mercari rep said my pictures were not detailed enough ( showed box, label, smashed item), closed the case. The worst part was I was unable to leave a review for the hapless seller. Never again.
I've had overall good experiences with other users on Mercari. But when issues arise, the customer service is an absolute let down.
Their team has been unhelpful to work with and hasn't resolved my issues in any instances which has left me frustrated and not wanting to use this platform anymore to sell my items. Maybe consider using Depop or eBay instead of them if you're deciding on what to use.

I ordered a set of DVD's and was sent the wrong DVD's. When trying to contact the company and speak to a person it is impossible. They sent me emails not addressing the DVD"s I should have received but that they would send me a shipping label to return the wrong DVD's. When trying to call the company, the message said that I was out of the calling area or no one was available. Not pleased at all :(( (
I ordered six items from Mercari recently. Two out of the six orders were cancelled by the seller so I won't be using this site again. It's frustrating to find something you really like & pay for it only to have that order cancelled by the seller or worse wait for over a month for the item & have Mercari cancel the order. Then be bothered by checking to see that you receive your money back. Waste of time!
I was double charged for shipping an item. The item weighed correctly the first time it was shipped. I get a message from them saying, they had to add an additional 6.99… the package didn't even weigh a pound, and was sent in a package envelope. Corrupt company. Another evil capitalist stepping on others to get more money. Disgusting.
They immediately took the buyers word that the item wasn't as described. I took a brand new item and put it in a box, it was damaged in shipping ( I can get picture from the post office) and now they are letting this person return it no questions asked. I'll be out 164$ and stuck with something damaged and worthless. I just wanted my item covered, and they wouldn't even do that!
