I bought a lot of plants from MB. My whole garden is basically from MB and their sibling Company SpringHills. They had excellent offer on bareroot roses. I bought about 30 bare root roses from them and 5 own root roses. Quality was Very good. Their bulbs (daffodils, dutch irises) are good quality as well. I was refunded, for everything, what didn't grow, without any problems. As I live in Los Angeles, they offered very unique lilac, which blooms In my zone and has a "real" lilac scent. Btw, I received "starter" plants, lilacs were about 4 inch tall, roses were bare root, Own root roses were about 6 inch tall. Roses now are beyond 5 foot tall, lilacs are About 2.5 tall. One of the peonies even bloomed (in LA!). So, don't be discouraged to receive Little plant, it will eventually grow. I can only recommend this company. Thank you
Although I have had tubers not grow after receiving them from Michigan Bulb, they did take them back and refund my money. My problem is that for spring plantings they have a two-month backlog on three of my items, and no indication of when it will be shipped. A 2-3 week delay was indicated when I ordered, but there is no estimate even now as to when they will deliver the items. No updates have been sent since the first ones. For delicate, time-sensitive plantings, this is unacceptable.
Im a long time Michigan Bulb customer and a garden fanatic/hoarder/shopaholic. Ive ordered from all over for 30 years, before the internet existed, and I have to say MB has 80% of the quality of a Brecks or even white flower farm, at 1/10th the price, and their customer service is so good.
They ship when they say they will, if there is a problem its easy to get a hold of customer service at their 800#, and they really stand by their guarantees.
At least 10-20% of live plant products I buy from anywhere go wrong, MB is no better or worse.
Make sure you read the descriptions. Are you buying #1 or #2 plants? 8-10cm bulbs or 12-14cm? 1-2 eye or 3-4? Theyve always sent exactly what they describe and stood by their products.
I hate to say it, but I think a lot of the negativity comes from inexperienced gardeners with unrealistic expectations.
I attached a quick pic of my garden, just so you know im a real person who loves their garden.
Tip for consumers:
Learn about the plants you are buying before you buy them so you can be sucessful. Ive been gardening indoors and out for 40 years. Even now, its usually my fault when things go sideways..
Several plants arrived as dried twigs and the iris corms were dried and dead. I order yellow stargazer lilies, they were pink. The apricot fudge lilies never bloomed.
Plants arrived very late in the year with snow on ground
They didn't survive the winter
Unless store credit received less shipping. Total loss
Tip for consumers:
No refund option, only store credit
Didn’t include shipping

None, received plants that didn’t survive
Ordered a kit from them. Some plants didn't grow. I contacted them and they gave me my money back no questions asked.
Purchased $300, about half grew, some was back ordered and never received, some took 6 weeks to get. Not good experience.
Tip for consumers:
Slow shipping
I was putting together an order from Michigan Bulb, since their photos look so very appealing, and they were having a "BIG SALE". They had a further promotion by which if you bought $40, you would get $20 off. I had $42 of bulbs that we had decided to order, so sure enough, the $20 comes off. Even though they were charging $15 for shipping, I thought it was a good deal, at a net price of $37.
Then a new promotion comes on the screen... "Buy $8 more and get free shipping". We go searching on their web site and find two other packages of bulbs that seem like a good deal, so we added them to our order. A total of $25 more in product. And the price quickly changes from $37 to $67. This is because when you get the $15 in free shipping, you lose the $20 discount on a $40 purchase! Makes no sense whatsoever! Add $8 to save $15 in shipping... Add $25, to qualify for free shipping, and pay $30 more.
The worst part of all this is that on every page of their site they display the inviting promo "Any questions, just reach out to our friendly and effective customer service people." (or something to that effect) I wrote an e-mail to complain, and got an immediate auto-reply saying that their friendly customer service reps would be getting back to me in a day, or two at the most. Three and a half days later, and having still received no reply, I wrote to them again. Three days later, I have still not received any reply to my first e-mail. And worse, still no reply from my original e-mail after six days!
STAY AWAY FROM MICHIGAN BULB! Their only thoughts about us as customers are how to get our money in their pockets, for as little effort as they can put forth.
They are simply awful!

None. Did not complete the purchase because the price was changed so drastically.
I ordered cyclamen bulbs in September 21st. It is now October 2nd. I wrote an online inquiry on October 1st to inquire why the bulbs had not arrived. Then I decided to call their customer service on October 2nd. The FURST time I called, a woman ( no doubt in the Phillippines) said they had no record of my purchase. But I had a charge on my credit card, which, of course is PROOF that I had ordered and paid for the order.
I called back with the banking information and the woman I talked to this time said that she saw that I had paid for the bulbs. She gave me a tracking number. The tracking number indicated that the bulbs shipped YESTERDAY, which was when I had made the original inquiry about where my order was.
In other words, these bozos take your order and sit on their hands until you complain and then maybe get around to doing something about it………. If and only if they can find a record somewhere that you maybe paid for it ……or maybe didn't pay for it.
This is inefficiency personified. This is dishonesty personified. This is " screw the customer" personified.

I ordered a gift for Mother's Day on 4/28 charge credit card on 5/2 never shipped. I called too bad out of stock.
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. THIS IS A SCAM. THEY WILL CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD AND THEN NOT SEND THE PRODUCT. THEY WILL CREATE A LABEL SO YOU THINK YOU ARE GETTING A PACKAGE THEN NOTHING SHIPS AFTER THEY HAVE CHARGED YOUR CARD.

Never received the RedBud tree I ordered. They created a Fedex shipping label so they could charge my credit card then they never shipped the product. The label shows never picked up by FedEx. When I called they said they are out of stock until next year. It was a Mother's Day Gift. They tell me this after everyone is out of them and 2 days before Mother's Day. They didn't care they didn't ship my product.
Small plants, sent to early to plant. For the price its better to go to a local place when it is safe outside and they are bigger for almost the same
I ordered 2 Musa Basjoo about 3 months ago; they don't ship until spring, this was fine. I ordered so early for a reason- these were a very important part of the design and harder to get this plant in the busy season. It is now April and I received the order of the wrong plants, still ok... emailed customer service and they sent me another confirmation with tracking # and will send the correct plants. I was happy that it was easily resolved, so I placed another order with them. 3 days later I receive an email that "I" cancelled my order. So now I have to call them to find out what's going on. This company outsources thier customer service that cancelled my order (after) they already gave me a confirmation that they would replace and correct -saying sorry, sorry and more blah blah blah sorries but thats now out of stock. Super annoying to repeat the order number 3 times and explain the issue with them, was transferred to a "supervisor" and again repeated the order number 3 more times, after explain now several times what the problem is; after that (hes filling out some check list) asks me the reason for my cancellation- ugggh, seriously? I dont order from companies that I cant rely on to make things right, its just not worth wasting so much of my time with thier incompetence and lack of commitment. My confirmation of my order and the payment given 3 months ago was a waste. Now its too late to get the most important and expected items that I waited 3 months for, and all I got was some careless response. I don't want to write emails, talk on the phone and make sure I got money back. I want them to do their job. There are plenty of companies that will do what they have to do to honor their commitments, this company is not one of them and I will never order from them again and have cancelled all my outstanding orders. So disappointed to be treated this carelessly

shipped the wrong item, confirmed they would replace it but didnt

This was 24 hours ago. Still no response. From anyone.
I'm disappointed with my order for several reasons:
1) Delivery. Fedex is notoriously bad in this area. They claim no one was here on Saturday to receive the package; but there is no indication on video camera that anyone even tried. We have surveillane cameras on each door to the building (I had it sent to my work address); and no one turned up. So this is pure and simply a lie that anyone tried to deliver.
2) Planting instructions. There were no instructions included in the package for handling the plants, despite the note in the package saying "planting instructions: consult the growing guide included in your shipment." See point 6 below.
3) Packaging. It has been below freezing for several days in the past week. The plants were shipped in un-insulated cardboard, inside a plastic bag with a few shredded remains of a magazine (?) across country for over a week, plus the likelihood of them being in uninsulated fedex vehicles at below freezing temperatures. It is highly unlikely that any of them are viable.
4) The mongolian apricot plants. These are tiny, sorry little things. While I certainly didn't expect full grown trees (!), these are a joke. 11" above root jokes.
5) I spoke to "customer service" yesterday and relayed all of this. The first thing the woman did was answer that there were several other items due to arrive which were on backorder and would not ship for a few weeks. When I asked what this had to do with my complaints, she seemed mystified as to how to answer and said, "could you repeat that".
6) The basically useless customer service person I spoke to promised to send me planting instructions, by email, yesterday. What a shock. Nothing came. I have checked my spam, trash and inbox. But there's nothing.
While I will wait to see whether any of the plants you sent actually survive and will wait to see what the rest of the order looks like, I have to say so far this is the single worst experience I have had in my life with ordering plants online. Michigan Bulb has performed SO BADLY, I honestly don't know what to say other than that I am very unlikely to ever use you again, let alone recommend you to anyone. Quite the contrary but I will refrain from google or other reviews until I see what you do to rectify the situation.
