Microsoft Store has a rating of 2.3 stars from 157 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Microsoft Store most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and business days problems. Microsoft Store ranks 195th among Computer sites.
The Microsoft Store offers a wide range of software, hardware, and digital services for both consumers and businesses. I appreciate the ease of browsing and purchasing products through the online store, as well as the frequent sales and promotions that offer great value. The customer service is responsive and helpful, and I've had positive experiences with both online and in-store purchases.
The rep who sold me the Surface lied to me and the company refuses to honor the $100 post-sale credit they promised. Even though it was written and saved in the chat log. Two follow-up chat conversations and a very long phone call to sales support and each time was told "we can't do anything, but we've put a note in for the chat rep and they will contact you tomorrow to fix this". All BS. No one ever follows up. Asking for a manager gets you hung up on. Which means another 30 minutes on hold or waiting for a chat rep to respond. I will never buy another Microsoft device again.

Initially it seemed to be inconvenient, but I got adjusted to microsoft store quickly. I download themes for my desktop, install all crucial applications in a blink of an eye. If we compare installation process when you download something from the net, then it's far slower.
So, I'm glad using it and can't understand those scolding it.
I ordered 2 x laptops online but I'd made a mistake with my credit card number. They contacted me immediately and rectified over the phone. Very polite and helpful man. He said it would be 3 to 5 business days for delivery. The laptops came today! Just the very next day after ordering them. Fantastic service!
Pleasant enough until they get your money and then useless. My new laptop bugged out after about a week and a half, no worries that happens.
Then:
1. They tried to tell me I would have to pay postage to return the item
2. I've spent hours talking to technical support trying to see where the item was.
3. After around my 5th session with customer support they are telling me it will take 3-5 business days before they send out my exchange, this is a day after they have received my item.
4. Customer service have kept me waiting for over an hour at times, once not even coming back to me.
I'm not usually one to do reviews, but given the amount of money this huge company is saving through primarily selling online rather than high street rents I would expect them to be able to handle a simple return.
Microsoft store has software issues that place orders in a perpetual processing status. So I'm waiting about 14 days to receive my order. By that time there may be new technologies out. Wondering how the world's premier and largest software company has a know software glitch that's delaying orders of their own product.
Come on microsoft, if you could fulfill customer's online order, just cancel it, even Walmart.com is doing better than you.
I ordered a laptop for thanksgiving special and it's almost Christmas, nothing happens except that order still in progress. Guess I have to call the credit card company to dispute the charge. Stay away even if their product sells for penny!
I ordered a phone from Microsoft Store & within 2 months it developed faults. I spent ages being sent from one number to another, being constantly put on hold, being told to call other numbers, being put through to rude & unprofessional robotic style representatives. I had to give up in the end, i am now left with a phone thats not working & microsoft have washed their hands of it. My advice is simple "Avoid Purchasing Anything From The Microsoft Store." Truly appalling from start to finish..
Messed up, totally unresponsive, no support terrible!
Need to write more... ok, let's go on then.
When one asks for support the first question is the big $ or £ or whatever else country they put the unfortunate user to, but if you are paying it will not mean you will get the proper support and by the time you finish the conversation your problem might not be sorted out, but you surely will be poorer
My computer has crashed many times in the last week because an update from May 2019 did not down load. This is per them. Tried twice to down load the update but could not. Told to get a flash drive in Order to down load into it & then my hard drive. Every time I have called Microsoft support they tell me they are connecting me to " second level tech " but all I get is background music for a half hour. I now have I have a useless computer because of this.
Tip for consumers:
Their level one tech's have in the past have always been very helpful but beware if they say a " level 2 " must be contacted!!!!
There is no way that they can have to\oribe products because this is microsoft that we are talking about. Everything that I have got from them has been god and I like that very much, You just need to take a look at it form a different perspective.
Getting help is such a pain. I will be spending as little money with Microsoft as possible.
Many of the problems I've had should be routine but I can spend hours trying to solve this. Microsoft doesn't seem to care about me or my time and I guess my business isn't big enough.
From now on before I buy from companies I am going to test their customer service. I do not have all day to waste on their cheapness in their refusal to invest in decent customer service system.
Tip for consumers:
Outlook runs ok until you have a problem. My account is repeatedly being hacked and I can't even find a replace to report it. So the problem isn't getting solved. I am tired of wasting my time with both these Microsoft accounts and am going to find less "Fat Cat" services that will appreciate my business and help me solve problem quickly without red tape and stress

Been trying to order an Xbox for a Christmas gift, first my credit card blocked the purchase thinking it was fraud, got that approved and resolved now Microsoft won't let me order. They told me there was a 24 hour block on my account because I tried ordering it so many times, waited 24 hours and Microsoft won't allow the purchase to go through. Spent an hour on the phone yesterday and still nothing resolved.

Purchased in-game content from the store. Kept checking with support since the content never showed. Support stated that I should get a refund, but refund departments denied my refund and said I was SOL that it didn't appear in my game. In the long run, Microsoft Store took my money for goods that were never given then refused to give my money back when even their support could see that I never accessed the content. Never will spend money through them again.
Called MS service, hard to understand with the very heavy accent, not sure what she said half the time.
Went to the very big impressive MS store at Mall of America, made an appointment for computer check-up. The guy was in a great hurry, talked very quickly, not really sure what he did, so fast, only once did he look directly at me, most of the time he was staring at the ceiling. I was scheduled for a twenty-minute app. That lasted seven. As I was waiting I looked around at a few items, all were very expensive, guess they have to pay for the Hugh store, and the six or so salespeople, not ITs, only four of them, maybe thats why the IT was in such a hurry.
Terrible. UPS lost the shipment. UPS has accepted and issued this to Microsoft. Microsoft support acknowledges and promises to call me back in 24 hours to issue a new order. It's been 11 days. I have called back 6 times. No one has contacted me back. No email no phone call.
The support experience is outstandingly bad. There is no way to speak to anyone that can actually do something. The first line of support can easily be replaced with an auto attendant. It's THAT BAD. Then at the end of every failed attempt to get support the agent asks "Is there something else I can help you with?"
Really? I just told you that I didn't receive what I ordered and paid for. What else would I need?
The person in charge of setting up this support process at Microsoft needs to be fired immediately. It's completely ridiculous. It's actually worse than not having a human answer.
Tried to preorder about three times input all my details for the xbox series x only to be denied every time and sent back onto this screen that says it out of stock. I honestly give up on this site literally cannot preorder or buy any console. If you look at the pre-orders for your xbox series x halo edition they're on EBAY listed for double the price. Those are the people you're selling to that aren't even remotely interested in your product and more interested on making money over it. Ridiculous.
I got an HP laptop for about $2100 from MS store last year and it said it came with the extended warranty. One year later the warranty they offered doesn't exist or they don't honor it.
And the HP laptop has had some many glitches.
The MS ecosystem is just so so sadly.

Microsoft has only given me the best thing since back in the days. It keeps on improving and adding updates to its software and even after you have bought the old versions you will be able to get the new version for free as long as you have a license.
The microsoft store has a lot to offer. I have ibne using the site for years now and they keep on adding some new things that makes it even more interesting. Microsoft has really come along way ad what they have to offer has always been good.
I bought windows vista from a website that claimed to be selling OEM software for a cheap price and I fell for it hook line and sinker. I installed it and then got the message that it would not register through MS. Turns out I bought a fake copy of it and MS knew it and I could not get my money back from the site which was later shut down. Now when I buy MS software I found the best place is just to do it from microsoft itself. The prices are all the same. If you go to Dell or any other site you can see the price of any windows upgrade or office is always the same so you might as well play it safe and just buy it from microsoft and stop worrying you are getting the real software of if they license key will work. If you buy from here you can at least call microsoft and they can make sure it works!
Bought software via the download method. It was not the smoothest purchase of this nature in my memory although I finally got it downloaded and activated. I believe I will stay away from the download method of purchase. I like the good old 'CD in the mail' method.
Microsoft is just the best. Of all the operating systems out there, the one withthe most users is windows. The microsoft store has a great variety of products ans they all work great. Even if they do not then they will just be improved. No one does it better.
Microsoft helped me resolve a problem with a Microsoft computer that wasn't even purchased through them. They helped me resolve the problem and helped me to purchase a new one through them... Never experience such customer service before!
Until very recently, I thought MS had reformed and had begun to grasp the concept of customer service, having been burnt, for its previously arrogant and indifferent attitude.
Recently however, I have found Microsoft still has its "firewall" to act as a barricade to consumers. Replies to MS emails go to an address that is unmonitored. Invitations to "contact us" loop back to annoying FAQs - while no email address or on line support is available.
At Microsoft our mission and values are to help people and businesses throughout the world realize their full potential.
