Mr Handyman may be good for most home repairs but mounting flat screen televisions is not one of them. I recently had them come out because I wanted to have the flat screen TV I have mounted in my living room moved up. It required disconnecting the cables, taking the TV off the mount, moving the mount up end replacing the TV and cables. I was told since it was 55 inches it would be a one man job. Turns out the tech could not replace the TV himself and my wife had to help him. I am disabled and could not help. When it came time to put the cables back in, the TV had to be taken off the mount again (again my wife had to help) in order to get to the ports where the cables had to be installed. Just a note, before he started I asked iff he needed to mark the cables so they could be put back in the right place. He said it wasn't necessary, but as it turns out the cables were put back in the wrong ports. The TV and my Apple TV worked but were not functioning properly.
My wife and I spent all day Sunday trying to move the cables without removing the TV since we could not do that. Finally, we got the cables into the ports where they belonged and everything is working properly now. During the process my wife asked him she could get a cut for helping him!
Needless to say I am extremely disappointed in the service, and only gave three stars because he did a good job moving the mount up. Otherwise the rating would be even lower. I learned my lesson and next time I will hire someone who specializes in mounting televisions.
Unfortunately, my experience with Mr. Handyman service provider did not go well. The young lady that I set up the appt. With Bailey, did not staff my job order properly. The job required 2 people and she only sent out one person who was very nice but did not feel comfortable doing the job by himself. He even stated that when he saw the job order he knew that it would require 2 people. Needless to say the job was not completed because I did not feel comfortable with the person who came as he did not seem confident that I would be pleased with the job. Not to mention the price quoted on site was quadrupled the quite that I was given by Bailey by phone. She lied and tried to say that she quote me a much higher price range which was totally not true. It's very sad how dishonest people and companies are these days. We are living in a "get over on you world" and Mr. Handyman falls within that category.
No integrity. I discussed the project and got a price on January 24. I texted on February 9 that I wanted to move forward. But I asked for the estimate in writing since I had only gotten a verbal. I finally got the estimate on February 21, and it was $400 more expensive. Okay. I accepted the explanation.
Then they sent someone out to officially measure the doors. The original quote included two doors, or slab, and four doors plus frames, or pre-hung. The guy who came out said I only needed two pre-hung doors. Pre-hung doors are more expensive, so the price should come down right? Wrong. The final quote came in, not only with no change in price, but with an additional fee for using a credit card. I wasn't even asked whether I was going to pay by credit card. No decrease in price for the change from pre-hung to slab.
I asked why the price didn't come down. He said there was no difference in price. He had already told me before, and I knew, that there is a difference in price. I replied that, with no difference in price, I should get all of them pre-hung. He then replied that there would be a difference in labor. Using that logic, I reasoned with him that the price should have decreased if just because of the labor. He then said he wasn't going to nickel and dime the price. But that's exactly what he did.
I found Mr. Handyman after searching for a handyman to repair a wood door that my dog chewed up.
After calling 4 different handyman companies, Mr. Handyman is the only company to call me back. They were quick to schedule an appointment for my repair with a quick turn around. Their representatives are very professional. I would definitely utilize their services again in the future.
OMG. I asked for an estimate to replace a smoke detector on a 12 foot ceiling that I could not reach. I have the smoke detector just need removal of the old and install the new. 5 minute job. I've already replaced 4 in this condo that I could reach. My place is 15 minutes from their shop in West Knoxville. They wanted to charge me $198. Are you kidding me? A 45 minute round trip job. So their rates are over $200 an hour. I'll never use them or recommend them. Just gonna rent a ladder and do it myself.
So after you call with worthless answering service, they allegedly have a handyman call who never calls or gives you a 12 hour window! Really? Most people I know have jobs that don't allow them to wait in a house from 6am to 6 pm waiting for a call and still they never even tell you if they can handle your job. $#*! customer service
Tip for consumers:
Worst receptionist in history

Nothing , totally incompetent
After a terrible experience replacing my tub, in which the quality was bad and i had holes knocked through my bathroom drywall in to my bedroom, and the job wasnt finished, i left a post on their web page. The owner agreed to finish the job if i removed the post. The owner then pulled my post, never finished the job, and wont return my phone calls! Mr Handyman home page has all good reviews because they take down the bad ones!
Local Mr. Handyman - Spokane, WA.
After checking around google, making many phone calls and emails I came across Mr. Handyman, the local franchise located in my city. After a few calls with my many questions I decided to hire them.
They came out when they said, called on the way to let me know they were coming, and then once the repair guy got there, listened to me and actually cared about what I had to say and yes of course my budget. The fixed my rain gutters, well a few corners still needed some extra caulking, but without hesitation they came back out and fix the few leaks that were still there. They were professional and you could see and sense how much they cared about getting my job done right. I would give them a 5 star rating with out hesitation and will use them in the future as the need arises. They are GREAT!
We had an issue with the service and they promptly made it right. We were contacted by the owner and he was very helpful.
