I agree with a number of other reviewers that this company's sales tactics are designed to be confusing. I wanted to get a free 7-day trial and thought that's what I was signing up for. There wasn't a page checkout page with the price clearly stated until after I checked out with PayPal and discovered I'd just paid $55 for something I don't want and can't use. I'm hoping their customer service dept. will refund the ridiculous fee. If they do, I will amend this review.

When you sign up for the free trial and give your payment information you don't have the option to cancel your subscription before they "get your account ready" whatever the **** that means. They charged me BEFORE 7 days had passed and didn't give my money back.

This company will automatically you up for auto renewal. I contacted them the same day as the charge went through. No refunds, even on the same day.

As others have said, they don't offer a free trial. It doesn't matter that literally EVERY single page throughout the "free trial" checkout process says you'll pay $0. They bill IMMEDIATELY and then refuse to refund you.

And you will indeed receive a 7-day trial for certain. The only thing is, if you click on the "Halloween offer", you will be redirected to a different subscription plan, which does not include a free trial period, but this special plan does come with a significant discount. For God's sake, if I am using drum staff and drum notes I do NOT need the drums jumping all over the place when I try to simply enter a new note. I just wasted 10x the time it would have taken me to just jot this down on paper. This will not work for me. Here's an idea: if you point at the staff and click, how about putting the note THERE? This is very clumsy and too time consuming. I do not see ghosts or flams or riffs in the toolbar, so I guess THAT will be a huge pain too. I'm noping out. I'll just use paper.

WHAT confirmation email? I don't see any proof of purchase on my mail account, but I definitely own this.

When I wanted to subscribe, I chose the option to pay per month. And immediately, I was charged for the year. I contacted the company for explanations and was told that everything was well explained on the site and that it was up to me to read the instructions carefully.
I explained to them that I had read correctly and chosen the right subscription option. After several emails, I was offered things that didn't interest me at all because it wasn't what I wanted to pay for. I was finally forced to open a "dispute" through PayPal and received my money again. The company sent me an email wanting to demonstrate their willingness to reimburse me, but that was not the case, because I had to open a dispute. They simply tried to change their image, but the email showed a two-sided face! If you want to experiment with a purchase with this company, good luck! Especially use Paypal and especially not your credit card. Best not to buy from this company. That's the best advice I can give you.

That is why our technical support suggested canceling the dispute so that the funds can be returned quickly, as the resolution of a dispute with PayPal can take several weeks.

I have been a MuseScore PRO subscriber since year 2020 for $29.99/year, auto payment set up via PayPal.

But yesterday, when using MuseScore on my iPad, it popped up message let me pay $39.99 for a PRO+ subscription; I thought that was for my original subscription to renew, so I clicked to pay.
Only one hour later, I noticed that I paid two times to MuseScore in the same day: $29.99 via PayPal and $39.99 via iTune; I cancelled the $39.99 subscription on my iPhone, but this only cancels the future payment, not the one I already paid. I contacted MuseScore support, but they refuse to refund me.

It's unfair to double charge a loyal user; I will stop any future renew and keep giving negative feedback wherever I can.

During the trial signup process, they did a bait and switch. I thought I was signing up for the trial, but instead I was charged, and they are refusing to refund me even though I requested the refund immediately after this occurred.

Unfortunately I only read reviews after I was already scammed by Musescore. After following the FREE 7 days TRIAL Button they immediately charged 39,99 EUR. When I opened dispute they only offered 25 percent discount. I want to unsubscribe and full refund, but still waiting for answers. I blocked my credit card... What else can I do?

However, we cannot immediately charge you upon pressing the "start free trial" button. There are several more steps involving selection and confirmation of the plan, as well as confirmation of payment information. Since the subscription with a free trial period is pre-selected, to get a subscription without a trial but with a discount, you need to click on the "special offer" button. I thought I was signing up for a free trial and realized after I had submitted my card, they charged me for an annual subscription. Within minutes I contacted customer service to ask if there was a possibility for a refund. They refunded me 30.00 of 40.00 the next day. They explained that I didn't meet the criteria to receive a full refund, which in section 4.1, bullet #3 of their policy, I do meet the requirements because it was based on my "usage" that they would deem how much of a refund I would receive. I explained to "George from MuseScore" that I was indeed subjected to a full refund because I didn't use the subscription and realized within minutes that I was charged for a subscription that I did want. They haven't refunded the $10 I'm owed. I was tricked when signing up because they have ALL these pop up windows that make it seem like you're signing up for the free trial, but in fact, they confuse you so you click on signing up annually. DO NOT USE MUSESCORE. THEY ARE SHADY AND HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU. I never leave bad reviews but this one deserves it.

A scam bro it lures you to press on the free trial then even when you cancel it, it still finds a way to renew it without even noticifying you charging you automatically a yearly payment off your card/balance.

I inadvertently created a website subscription when I used my Facebook profile to access the free trial. I also created a Google play subscription when I downloaded the app as I was having trouble finding a way to cancel my free trial. I received a notification that my subscription would end before the payment cycle would begin. I went back to the website and went in circles trying to see the status of any website subscription and how to cancel any such subscription. The suggested links didn't work. One gave the "danger, warning!" result of `oops that page does not exist'. My PayPal account has been debited and I requested a refund. They offered 2 options: 1)35%refund plus continued 12mth subscription or 2)continued 12mth subscription + an extra 10months. The subscription is of no use to me as I discovered that my physical disability made playing my flute excruciatingly painful. MuseScore is aware of my disability and still refuses to fully refund my money.

Tip for consumers:
Do not sign up for the free trial! The website makes it impossible to cancel your subscription before the trial ends.

As soon as I started the 7 day trial I tried to get it cancelled. It kept sending me in a loop of needing to authorize my account before I could cancel. Then it gave me what appeared to be a cancellation page, where I believed I had taken care of it.
The day the full charge went through I emailed and explained I thought the cancellation had gone through and to please cancel, they offer that bs discount for premium services "deal".
My cc denied my fraud charge but I am appealing.
BE WARY OF THIS SITE!

When I first saw that I got charged for their service I was really shoked I mean to loose 50 bucks in 2021 is a tragedy. I contacted their support and they offered me good discount but I rejected the offer cause I thought that I was cheated. But then they issued a prorated refund to me and the same day I found their reminder in spam. Sorry guys

Signed up for the 7 day free trial. The request invoice for the subscription showed that the charged amount was 0.00 eur, but when I went to look at the internet bank, I was charged 38.04 eur for a whole years subscription. There was no indication that I would be signing up for a years subscription. Shamefull. Don't use this online business!

Hello David, Thanks for your feedback. We always charge for the exact plan that the subscription was made for. The type of plan cannot be changed on our end. Please check your email. There you will find receipts as well as a letter with information about the type, period, and price of the subscription. We send letters with this information right from the moment the subscription is made. You can cancel it at any time if you accidentally subscribed to a different plan than you intended.

I canceled the service a day after I got it. In fact, I was suppose to have a 7 day free trial. I have been billed for the annual membership. I don't want the membership. I do not know why I have to pay for the annual membership fee especially if it was a free trial. I feel I am being scammed.

They will not cancel subscriptions but they will cancel auto-renewals and that is all. They have a great selection of music but a lot of it is hard to access without paying or going through processes. They make verifying your email difficult and I just had a terrible experience with them. Musescore was good and printing music was easy enough but it is pricy and I ended up spending that $70. Sorry I can't attach files because they are all emails and are. Eml (add support for that please) :)

Don't get into financial stuff and pay unless you can for sure pay what you are trying to... Just be careful.

Don't waste your money on musescore pro. Definitely not worth it. I wanted to try it out so I did the trial. After a little bit I canceled, but apparently canceling wasn't good enough so they charged me for the full subscription. I have contacted them and all they have to offer is 35% of my money back? What kind of offer is that? The sound quality is not very good either. And they offered me an extended subscription too but why would I want to do that when I don't want it anyways?

Tip for consumers:
They don't actually refund you. They only care about their money and will only offer you 35% back. Even if you thought you had ended your subscription, but apparently hadn't, according to them.

Literally worthless, because there's virtually nothing in this app! For example, I was looking for an Arctic Monkeys drum transcription (one of the most famous bands in the world, mind you), and all you get is like maybe 10 scores and notations, and that's it! The app keeps crashing, and the UI/UX is abysmal. It's absolutely insane how bad the site and app are.

BUT THE WORST PART IS THEY TRICK YOU INTO THINKING THERE'S A FREE TRIAL WHEN THERE ISN'T!
They prey on you, making you think there is one, but it's a free trial only if you pay full price (~60 USD). But if you get this special offer that will end in 5 minutes (yeah, right...) for only 20 USD, you get no free trial, even though they design it so it will look like there is!

Worst app/site ever. DO. NOT. BUY!

I never really intended to sign up. Just downloaded the app to see if it was what I needed. It wasn't. Then some weeks later I found out that I'd been billed for an annual plan (67USD). I never recieved any emails about my trial beeing converted to a subscription. I contacted customer support but they wouldn't give me a refund as a little more than 14 days had passed. Their whole business model is apparently tailored to trap people into subscriptions they didn't ask for. This is really a scam. Stay away!

We created an account in the MuseScore website so that we could access original full arrangement musical scores for three pieces of work.

Their website indicated that there was a free 7 day trial period. So we duly but uneasily entered our credit card details associated with the ‘free trial' link. This created an account but we quickly discovered MuseScore did not have access to the pieces of music we needed. This is for my son's exam.

We quickly cancelled the auto renew membership subscription but somehow have got locked in to a year long subscription which customer support says is our fault for checking the wrong box. There was never an option…we followed the ‘free trial' path' the entire way.

This is corporate robbery, deception, cheating, whatever you want to call it. We have come away with zero and no use for their site and MuseScore has happily pocketed US$40.

It's abhorrent - these types of companies should be legally challenged. Even more so because we were seeking artistic resources for a high school student. Really MuseScore you should be ashamed of how you operate.

This does not end here. We will continue to post far and wide so the public is aware of your cheap scam.
