From what I understand, this salon is co-owned by two Sisters-in-law. A friend and I scheduled appointments to have our make up done. Upon entering the salon, we told them that we had make-up appointments. The greeting was non-existant. Very aloof. The atmosphere of the salon came off snobbish and unfriendly. When making the appointments, I explained that we are "young" seniors with special skin care needs and wanted to be sure their artist was qualified. We were assured that she was. $30.00 is a lot of money to just have some one put a little make-up on you but I thought for sure she'd start with a cleansing regimen and explain the products. She didn't. She went right into applying the make-up to our skin. Albeit, we purposely had clean faces with no make-up on because of our anticipated appointment. She SCRUBBED the make-up on so roughly, stretching my skin, I flinched and said owwww and said that hurts. Anyone who knows any thing about skin, especially aged skin knows to be GENTLE. I asked for eyeliner as part of the process and she said OK but only used powder, no liner. The area where we were sitting and she was working was extremely dim and the only lighting was what was coming through the window 15 ft away from the chair. There was a small light on the table next to us but I didn't see it being used. I understand that I didn't pay for a "lesson" because I thought $50.00 was a bit much for that but I really thought she'd give a few suggestions along the way to help sell their very, very expensive product. Usually in a Solon application of this sort the artist asks questions about make-up problems then offers solutions and explanations as she applies the make-up to the problem areas. Her personality was dry; did not smile at all. The make-up was acceptable and looked perfectly nice; not exceptional. Would I go there again? No. Would I suggest it? No. This place was such a downer. I actually felt depressed by the time we were done and couldn't wait to get out of there! I prefer friendly greetings, upbeat, technicians, and offering a glass of wine, coffee or water would have been really nice.
