Writing with respect to recent warranty claim with Oakcastle regarding 16 gig MP3 player purchased in Oct 2021. Upon purchase of the MP3 player, I received email from Oakcastle providing information and encouragement to register my device to activate the 3-year warranty. I did so and received acknowledgement from Oakcastle that my device was covered by 3-year warranty. During the week of 31 May the device took a dump, ~8 months after purchase. I notified Oakcastle and began the dance of verifying the warranty. After several exchanges Oakcastle denied my claim stating that I wasn't in their "system" and the seller was not an authorized re-seller. OK, 1st question – if the seller wasn't an authorized re-seller, then how did Oakcastle get the info re: my purchase? Did Amazon provide? If I made my purchase through an unauthorized re-seller why would Oakcastle encourage me to register the warranty AND then provide acknowledgment that the 3-year warranty for my device was registered. Oakcastle is running from the warranty claim. Would seem that Amazon is aware, see the number of comments regarding warranty issues, and may be complicit in the matter if they are providing my information to a third party, Oakcastle, that if Oakcastle's claim is true that, they aren't party to the transaction. Regardless, I'm out the cost of the MP3 player that was supposed to be warranted for 3 years.
