Wow what shocking reviews, im absolute disgusted myself as I shafts use skyscanner but its never booked opodo up until last wk... paid 153€ for a return flight to&from Tenerife, checked my account and the cheeky $#*!s have taken a gurthur 191€ on top of my flight charges... so what was advertised as a cheap flight has turned out cisting ne double! Who wackes on extra charges that cost more than the actual flight!, ROOBING BASTARDS. I WANT MY $#*!IBG MONEY BACK!

For a GBP415 flight booking, Opodo charged me GBP53 for Service Fee. When I called them for help, the agent ask me to call the Airline myself. Never Ever use Opodo... shame on them

Booked my ticket and final price showed up on the page (right before I hit purchase which means that includes everything) was different than what I got charged. So contacted them about the issue and here is their response (there was no alteration of any kind, I just did a purchase):
"Any alteration that is permitted on a booking (cancellation and/or modification) will be subject to handling fees. Opodo reserve the right to charge you a service fee of 23.17 EUR to cover the administration costs incurred by Opodo. These charges do not include any charges imposed directly by the Travel Supplier.
Details of these charges are contained within our Terms and Conditions which customers accept prior to choosing to complete their purchase therefore, regrettably, Opodo are unable to consider a refund of the handling fee you have been charged."
So replied and asked that firstly, this service/administrator charge should show up on my final payment, and secondly, send me the link to this terms and conditions of yours you are claiming, and this is their reply:

Horrible experience with Opodo booking
I booked with Opodo on 12/18/2012 for traveling on 12/24 between two Brazilian cities. They sent a confirmation notice and issued e-tickets details the same day as the booking. Since I later did not get any contact from them either by email or phone call. I presumed the ticketing had been made. But when the three of us went to check in early morning 12/24, the plane carrier could not found our ticket information and said our tickets were not in their system. Stunned, we spend 3-4 hours tried to contact Opodo to get an explanation and rebook the tickets at the airport. However, Opodo replied that our ticket booking was cancelled on 12/19 and had e-mailed the same day the cancellation. But I could not find any cancellation email in my Inbox or Spam.
Opodo could not book any ticket for us until after new year. We were stuck at a foreign airport without any help from Opodo. Luckily enough, we finally ourselves booked ticket to leave the airport on 12/25 Christmas day, but we have to stay 1 night in hotel, taxi transportation, and other expenses. When we got home we contacted Opodo about this miserable experience and ask for some compensation. They denied their fault and gave excuses, one by one.
First they said they had notified me about the cancellation, and the payment was refunded; they have never been able to show the original cancellation email although we requested many times. Then they said there was a system error/ technical issue. Yesterday, 1/8/2013, they said it was due to the credit card payment being declined [the card has very high, much more than enough credit limit]. Ridiculous, every email from them was a lie.
If they made a mistake and caused a customer's damage, they should admit it and compensate it, but they just lied and blamed customers.

Booked flights on 05 January for £1,287.69.
Cancelled same day but Opodo took more than six weeks to refund any money and then kept £340.17.
Having looked into this further, as far as I can tell, Opodo is just a bit of a scam really. They advertise that you can book the cheapest flight tickets with them and save with Opodo. But they just appear to sell tickets with a large mark up.
Maybe when they first started as a company they had better prices but now they appear to charge about 25% + compared to booking directly.
Just avoid scam companies like this… although it can be difficult as they pay to be top of Google searchers even if you try to search for a specific airline and at first you can think that you are dealing with the airline but actually you are dealing with Opodo.

Later update... on pressing and pressing them further, Opodo said the money they kept split down to:
- Easyjet's fee for cancellation of 49 GBP and the extra fee for booking through Opodo of 44.42 GBP (both non-refundable). Both fair enough. But there was an extra baggage fee of 246.75 GBP that Opodo added and that they won't refund.
So... if you book through Opodo and not the airline, you will be charged extra service fees (that will not be refunded if you cancel) and "additional products fees" that Opodo apply to your booking. Opodo said that any payment for hold baggage etc was a non-refundable element, even though the airline do not take the money.
Just book through the airline. Don't use Opodo. There are no up sides to using Opodo but there are plenty of reasons not to use Opodo.
Unless you really enjoy paying extra money that you may never get back and love talking to chatbots.
Now on to an irritating legal battle.

Avoid at all costs, they advertise a low price for a flight and then make you pay much more than what you were supposed to. They offered to add extra baggage at a reduced price and then later to find out that no baggage was added when checking on the airline website. I've called to complain they told me they would fix the matter and I've been sent an email the next day to confirm that the baggage was added. To my surprise, this was untrue and after another call to complain, I've been told that these baggage won't be added at all as there is some sort of issues with the airline. I've asked for an invoice which with any professional company, should be sent shortly after the booking confirmation email. I've been told to wait for 72 hrs, to be shocked to receive it stating a price much higher than what was advertised and while I've paid around £300 for the extra baggage the invoice states only £109. Their customer service personnel are trained to be so polite and respectful but at the end of the day they have no authority, no power and if I ask to speak to a senior it is like asking to speak to the king or something. They just send back the customer service personnel to repeat the same words. I am asking for a full refund based on this horrible service, but they only offer that I pay for the extra baggage at the airport and then to submit a request for a refund of the money I've paid which still will make the original price higher than what it should be. They say a full refund will never happen under any circumstances. Totally dishonest and fraudulent service. First time to book with them and for sure willl be the last.

Opodo scammed me of 2,700 pounds and want me to pay extra $4,000 for the same flight.
I booked a flight on 29th of September from Maryland, USA to Lagos Nigeria, the flight has a stop in Amsterdam and because I don't have a transit visa we couldn't use the flight and I immediately contacted OPODO to let them know, they couldn't do anything and told me to contact the airline myself. The airline was KLM. I was wondering why Opodo wouldn't contact the airline because they were the one that booked the flight and not me, but I contacted KLM and KLM was so helpful. KLM told me they would postpone the flight till next year for me without paying a dime but I should contact OPODO and tell them to contact them, I contacted OPODO but OPODO want me to pay another $4,000 for the same flight. I asked them why do I have to pay, why not contact KLM so they could resolve the issue for free, why ask me to pay another $4,000 then they hung up on me!. That company needs to be shut down for real...

I WOULD NEVER EVER AGAIN USE OPODO
We've booked three tickets with Opodo and when all done, we've realise one of the names had an additional letter in it- we have called them again & again and still nothing got done, every time it took us around 40 minutes on the line and they asking us to call Pegasus airline again & again. When we call Pegasus, another 20 minutes on the line with Pegasus and they say they can't find any change of name by opodo and ask us to call Opodo again. It's a loop hole and wasted countless hours of our time.

Unimaginable that this is even a licensed operating entity! My best friend booked our tickets with her credit card and got an email 20+ hours after the fact indicating that the purchase could not be completed. She contacted her credit company who confirmed that there was no problem with her card or the ability for the payment to process. I then encountered the same exact problem and, again, my credit company confirmed there was no problem and that, in fact, they had not even attempted to charge my card. I then tried with my American Express. I received an email indicating that I would need to give approval to AE and to reply to let them know to go ahead with the payment.
Upon replying to the email with the confirmation from AE, the email bounced back that this is a NO-Reply email acct. Opodo's email does not include any other email address, only a UK number.
Thus, I called them and asked that they call me back as it was international. The lady, who refused to give her name, indicated "that is not part of our procedure." She then indicated that the price had now gone up, would I agree. Fine, since I was now paying for an international call. When she ran my card she indicated that it was declined.
I asked to speak with a Supervisor/Line Manager, same response "that is not part of our procedure." She indicated that there were no supervisors on the floor, she could not transfer me to one, nor could I leave my name and number to have a call back.; thus, no way to speak to a manager. She indicated that I should call AE again and then call back but, of course, the price would most likely be higher as they could not guarantee any booking for any time.
I contacted AE again and they indirectly indicated they have many problems with this company.
Never will we even consider trying to book with this company. If there were to be a problem with any part of your booking you will NEVER get a response, solution or avenue to assist with your concern, delay, complaint, etc. BEWARE

I booked for my brother, from kazan to prague, and i paid for the flexibility and cancellation insurrance which are about 45 euro. Then after a week, I wanted to cancel, so I had to call them, they do not accept mail, and for each call it is billed 1 euro/ min, they keep you waiting till someone answers, and this one takes time on purpose for information to charge more, then he tells you to call the insurrance company which charges also for call and which will tell you to recall opodo. After many calls, I sent the email, and they asked for medical certificate or a reason for cancellation knowing I have paid the inaurrance. I sent them a medical certificate, and they asked for more documents. And if I could cancel, I would have gotten 80 % of the ticket excluding insurrances and a 50 euro would have been deducted for opodo, so about 50 % will be remboursed. Eventually, I lost 70 extra euros for the calls, and couldn't cancel. It's a blackmail. I don't know how in Europe such companies can function normally and not be stopped for theft and misleading.
Do not try it, reserve from the airline directly not from travel companies.

I found a flight to Gambia last December 2020 through travel agent Opodo and, since they're a large popular European travel agent, I trusted them. Wrong decision! Even though they were generally efficient in replying and telling me that my 3rd January flight was cancelled due to Covid, the refund situation has been terrible!
They're almost impossible to contact or to speak to anyone in person and you get redirected to 'frequently asked questions' or to your account which confidently stated that my refund might be an unacceptable 4 to 6 months to process.
So in July after seven months I contacted my airline Air Maroc directly who told me that they had actually made the ticket refund to Opodo in May! I then spent a morning going through a very convoluted process to contact Opodo and eventually got through to an Indian call centre where the man admitted that Air Maroc had indeed made the ticket refund to Opodo but they had conveniently not passed it on to me! Eventually it did arrive in my account but was £50 less than I originally paid.
Maybe they could justify this by the change in Euro / pound exchange rates but to be honest I couldn't be bothered trying to chase it after all that!
They are not a member of ABTA, ATOL or any other regulator so do not trust these unscrupulous cowboys!

Opodo is a total scam and fraud, i have booked a flight with them in September with my fiancee from Colombo to Male for the holidays, our flight was supposed to be with China Eastern on the 26th of December and on the opodo app everything looked fine, they even sent me a notification I can check in online the day before but when we got to the airport they told us that this flight was cancelled 3 months ago and Opodo never sent us any email regarding that! That is not acceptable! So we ended up having to buy new tickets with another company last minute, our vacation was almost ruined so as all of our plans and honeymoon. I am trying to contact opodo ever since i got back for a refund and every time a wait for an hour or their service are not working and when i finally get a chance to talk to an agent they transfer me to some supervisor waiting another hour and nothing is resolved. Last week I was promised to get the authorization email refund in 24 hours and my money in 10 days, guess what still nothing... I called today again and the agent was absolutely playing around with me again absolutely unaware of anything and i am starting to think this is a total scam and a fraud and i will never get my money back, I am seriously considering addressing this manner to the Visa fraud department, i have probably spent more money on calls trying to talk to them so far then what I am owed! They just told me I will get not even all the amount paid although the flight was cancelled months ago in 90 days, never heard of a 90 days refund before! That is a total joke, how can this company even exist with that type of customer service, there is not even guarantee I will see my money back, still waiting for the authorization refund email promised to me! I am gathering people that are also scamed by Opodo to take legal actions all together!
