I just wanted to share my experience with this painter who runs this business by himself. I believe he is a Colombian guy and does everything by himself. He gave a quote and promised to finish the job in 4 days. He also constantly advertise promising so many discount such as 15% off with prepay, 10% off if your wall is good, and 10% off from RONA if you buy using his RONA card. He will also promise, he is not going to move his tools unless he finishes your work. Everything looks attractive in the beginning, but that's not the end. In my case, he started painting the house alone, which I realized latter on that he is the only one who is going to paint the whole house. He started working 5-6 house every day, but it was not possible to finish the work in 4 days by himself. I reminded him his words "4 days to finish the job"... then he told it's costly to hire other people,,,, he can not effort to have another person... I had no choice because I paid the money in advance. He literally took 28 days to finish the job. This is too much time to live in a messy house. If I were to know that it's going to take 28 days,, then I would hire another company for painting rather than sticking with this guy. It is also important to know that you will not get any discount from RONA using his card and he gets to collect the point. I told him that we did not received any discount from RONA which he advertised in kijiji as well as in his flyers, he told, at the end of the work he will go to RONA with us to get the discount, but that never happened. On the final payment day, we reminded him about the 10% discount from RONA, he told he does not have time to go with us now and demanded the due amount and started making arguments. It's my feeling that he does false advertisement about RONA discount which is legally wrong. He also does not keep his word and will never finish the job in time. I would not recommend this guy form paining. If you do so, then ask him to give you in writing about his timeline to finish the job. Also, clarify ahead of time, in writing about his promotion.
