“I've found a wealth of information on this site”

Nate M.
6/9/11

I've found a wealth of information on this site. Just read the product descriptions before you order - they have options to buy a single report for $1.95, or start a monthly membership and get the report for $. 95. It's all clearly marked, just make sure you read everything first. You can do people searches, get background checks and similar reports.

“Unauthorized debt in my bank account”

Fatima K.
10/24/24

I used PeopleFinders just once, I mean, an one time purchase $1.45 to obtain a phone number. A couple days later, they took $24.95 from my account, I believe for a service subscription which I have never requested. I replaced my bank card immediately and now I am waiting for my bank dispute process. So frustrating.

In my search for people residing in a particular block of homes, I found People Finders to be not always accurate in its addresses, phone numbers, and emails. When I finally located people, the numbers and emails were frequently different from those listed, and there were many people I could not locate at all.

I am also dissatisfied with their billing practices. They have a come-on of 95 cents, but if you do not cancel within 3 days you are automatically charged $24.95. (I cancelled within 6 days, thinking that the limit was 7, as with similar services.) I have found other person locators to be much more up-front and much less costly. I will never use PeopleFinders again.

I tested this service on myself for authenticity. It stated I had no record of criminal history. Uhm... not quite... I was just released from prison after being incarcerated for 15 years, and my criminal records date back to 1995. Info that I requested on family members was totally outdated... any facts were from 2012. I agree with the other reviews, as well with the "free trials, deals and such... scamming for your bucks. Don't fall for the "good deals". You'll pay.

This company like other companies selling private information needs to be shut down. They are illegal and cost the American elderly millions in scams being done from information found on their sites. Google search selling private information without consent. Please file a complaint with the Stas Attorneys offices for these companies H. Q.'s it; s the only way we can shut them down.

Utah's basic street addresses all have North, South, East, or West. PeopleFinders does not display any of them. None. Other search companies display them. When I called PeopleFinders there was NO interest in looking into what I explained. I was told several times during the call that they display what they are given. I told the individual that the product was not of use to me then and that I would like a refund. I got the response of "no, per the terms of..." which I understood. But, I will say that I have found that the service is not interested in customer feedback. I do NOT recommend them at all as there are better options available.

Signed up for service today. Completed several searches. Results seemed incorrect, so searched phone numbers of people I knew. They too came back incorrect... all of which had been owned by a friend/family member for 5+ years. When I attempted to cancel membership, was charged a $2 95 cancellatarion fee. Spoke to customer service rep, she refused to reverse fee. Even though the information I obtained through the service was incorrect. Totally bogus! Buyer beware! O

Unethical company - I plan to file a legal complaint - charging my card 29.95 and 24.95 per month for 6 months without me authorizing - I don't even know what this company does. I might have to get a new charge card number - this is stealing.

Simply said, these people are crooks. Their charges mysteriously appear month after month. The phone number they provide leads you to some nutty recording that attempts to sell yet more nonsense. If you are lucky enough to reach them their promises to cancel the charge go unfulfilled.

These guys are big cheaters. Even when you decline their offer of a membership, they still stick it to you. When you call to dispute they make it sound like you have Alzheimer's and don't remember what you did.

The report I got was wrong on top of that. Block their site.

Peoplefinders.com offered "current mailing address" for persons. I needed current mailing addresses for about fifty people to whom I was sending thank you's after my mother's funeral. I had names written in a guest book, but no addresses. So I searched on Peoplefinders.com, giving the first and last name, city, and state of the person. I got FIVE addresses for the first person on my list. I contacted customer service to inquire how I could tell which address would be the current one. The woman on the phone was very rude and unhelpful, even after I explained everything I've written here. She told me that Peoplefinders was not a private investigator and that I had to already know the information I was seeking in order to get it! What a ripoff! And it cost me $2.95 to cancel my trial membership, after only 30 minutes of unacceptable service.
Please don't give this company your business.

First they charge for a trial which is okay but then they charge you to cancel! Of course, no mention of that at the beginning. This company is a scam! My dad had a listed phone number and he died in 2001. I did supposedly find the people I was searching for but only to find that the phone numbers were completely bogus. My husband died last year and he was listed as alive and his phone number was one we had about 20years ago before getting cells. Dont waste your money! Im hoping they acknowledge my cancellation and dont charge my credit card for more services.

Verified purchase

I payed 95 cents to look up one person. Canceled within 3 days. Still charged 24.95 on 3rd day. Called their 800 number and they said I had multiple accounts and only canceled one of them.
How and when did I sign up for all this when I did one name search, put in credit card number and clicked search?! Apparently the scam is that you actually signed up for several accounts when you click on the search. And you better cancel all the accounts, you didn't know you opened, or you will be charged the monthly fee.
How can human beings, walk on this earth, and be so rotten?! Were they mistreated when they were younger? They better hope there isn't a place where dishonest people go after they pass. And what is wrong with the people who work for these low life's? What is their problem. Doesn't the girl at the other end of the phone get sick of lying all day, to irate customers? God bless the honest people!

Tip for consumers:
Don't use site, to give out credit card number

Once you've submitted your credit card number then they tell you there are no results for this person. How do I even know they did a search? The person I searched had a police record that they couldn't find which makes me very skeptical that they search anything. When I brought this to their attention and asked for a refund they would not give one. Looks and smells like a scam.

I would give them no STAR. The trick you into their $24.95 membership. I tried not to get caught by not signing up but they still gave me the membership if I didn't cancel. Read the email they send you. It says if you don't cancel within three days, you will be charge the full membership. I didn't think I signed up for the trial but that is automatic. It's a scam.

Once the credit card cleared for the. 95$, then I end up at another site needing to pay once again, so I back out and get the number to call and this hateful person wants my info once again. She then ask me why I am checking the person out and do they know it. Then tells me she can not cancel nor refund my money ( its only been 15 min.@ this point) and ask why I used another name credit card. I respond by telling her I used my husbands business cc # because its a business lookup. Tells me I can't do that. Shut this site down! I was smart enough to use a card with a small limit on it. I will be canceling the card this afternoon as soon as my husband gets here to cancel this fraudulent offer charge.
I would never trust anything they put in the reports if you can not get from page to page without having to pay more money. BTW. I never got the report that the site told me was being generated.

They charge you 24.95 with out your knowledge and then refuse to give you a refund, they give you nothing in return, you pay for absolutely nothing. They are thieves, don't use them. Hopefully this company will be forced to shut down. Minus one rating.

I joined peoplefinder after selecting one of many "special" offers. I got some info on the party I was interested in, but the next day the PW I set up would not work. I called, but they were closed for the day (It was still lunch time on the Pacific coast) and I should email and get a reply in "1 to 2 days." They again offered me a chance to "join" for more than I agreed to pay for 3 months the day before. Also, they charged me a 'down load fee" for every type of report I asked for, thus increasing your cost by as little as.95 cents to 3.99 for the transactions I thought would be part of the 90 plan. In short, they suck. It seems like everybody wants to skin you and get into your info and milk it for all its worth.

Tip for consumers:
That they may be offering as many as 3 prices for the same packages including one that is astronomical. Be very careful before you accept and be prepared for lots of little incidental charges for the data to be 'downloaded'; not to you computer, but to their system. You can't even print their stuff.

Was looking for a friend who lived in Florida. It gave me an address for her in the community I live in. We are in a senior development and if she lived here I would have known. She does not live here, never did! She is still in Florida and I was finally able to contact someone who had her phone and new address Now I am being charged 24.95 per month, automatically taken out of my bank account monthly. I want my money back! Now to find someone to talk to about this. Whatever you do DO NOT USE THIS SITE

I tested their service and it seemed to have ok data, but once I was locked into a 3 month contract by their manager * the hit rate dropped to less than 10%!
I'm stuck in a $1200 contract, lost my customer over it, and can't use their service. After multiple requests to help, * finally got back to me and said I'm stuck in the contract and he won't let me out! A reputable company would have discontinued the contract. I'm reporting them to the attorney general for fraud.

I was trying to find my fiance's divorce records. They I paid for the one time report. They kept trying to sell me things and I didn't want and when I got the report everything was old and outdated. It showed his ex wife as living in Louisiana and she has been dead for over a decade. Don't bother with this. I specifically needed divorce information and that was specifically left out. It was a total waste of money.

If you use PeopleFinders.com, beware of their monthly fraudulent/unauthorized billings of &29.95 to your credit or debit card you use to make purchase the purchase. Once they have your card on file, they WILL place a charge each month whether you sign up for membership or not. When you ask for refund, they will issue an immediate refund but only if the last month they charged you for. If I can give them a 0 star, I would. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced this and would actually think this is grounds for a great class-action lawsuit against PeopleFinders.com!

Tip for consumers:
Just beware of their unauthorized Billings/charges to your credit or debit cards for memberships whether you sign up for or not. Check your accounts each month!!

Ran background check on someone that I knew had a criminal background. Their report said no criminal records found. I called to get refund and they refused saying I accepted the terms. They offered a voucher for another check. I refused that because they have no information. So, I lost 29.95. This company is a complete scam!

First time I canceled after 2 months because backgrounds are not the best. I contacted them and asked to cancel again and they offered me a lifetime 69.95 one time fee. I agreed because what the heck, maybe they'll get better. 3 months later that one time fee made its way to my account again. I disputed it with my bank and peoplefinders canceled my account because I disputed the second charge. Do not fall prey to them, they'll rip you off

Beware of using CFK People Finders. For one thing, their information is NOT accurate. For another thing, they automatically charge your account even after you have asked them to stop. They nickel and dime you with small charges, and if you don't look at your credit card statement, you would never know it. They are a SCAM.

Horrible. The information was correct. I knew about a felony for the person I was searching and I used this site to determine if there were other convictions. The one I was already aware of didn't even show up. Worthless.
