“I've found a wealth of information on this site”

Nate M.
6/9/11

I've found a wealth of information on this site. Just read the product descriptions before you order - they have options to buy a single report for $1.95, or start a monthly membership and get the report for $. 95. It's all clearly marked, just make sure you read everything first. You can do people searches, get background checks and similar reports.

“Unauthorized debt in my bank account”

Fatima K.
10/24/24

I used PeopleFinders just once, I mean, an one time purchase $1.45 to obtain a phone number. A couple days later, they took $24.95 from my account, I believe for a service subscription which I have never requested. I replaced my bank card immediately and now I am waiting for my bank dispute process. So frustrating.

Before you sign up there is a place on their webpage that says it is very easy to cancel. Just login to your account, go to home, go to account, scroll down and click cancel my account. BUT... after you sign up and login and go to Home and my account, there isn't any "cancel my account" to click. Very frustrating.
Had to call my credit card company, etc. Gave them a 2 because I did find the info I was looking for. But take heed to the reviews!

This is a scam I signed up for a reverse phone lookup. Know I had the right number and town,, said person, which wasn't the right person had a new number. I looked up my self information was 8 years old as far as address. Looked up my son, whom passed 10 years ago still listed him at old address. I called people finders, signed up for the. 95 cent seven day trial, also signed up for background check for 9.95 was told they would cancel the. 95 but would not refund the 9.95. When you try and use the background check it is scam you have to pay another $25 for a real background check,, doubt it is legitimate or up to date, don't waste your money.

I got an email saying that a negative item MAY have been added to my public profile, and intrigued I wanted to know what it was because it didn't make any sense. That was my first fault. I paid for a 9.95 first month subcription thinking that, "Well if I don't find anything on myself, I can at least look at other people's profiles that I know". WRONG. Nothing popped up on ANYONE'S profile. Absolute garbage. I called and they said that the mail said it may so therefore they weren't guaranteeing there to be something negative added to my profile. Essentially a straight up scam. I screamed at her on the phone for how $#*!ty her company was, and she just said, "well I guess you can have your opinion, and its nonrefundable so I can't do anything for you"... ugh regret.

Sign up for trial membership. 95 cents. Did not even come close to finding who I was looking for. I immediately cancelled my membership (about 15 minutes after I did not get results - 1 name). When I received my credit card statement I was billed as follows. 95 cents, $2.95, and $5.95 I immediately called People Finders, rep was not helpful so I asked to speak with supervisor. Of course, supervisor was not available. Left message said get back to me in 48 hours or 2 business days. Over a week now and no call back.
THIS WEBSITE IS A SCAM. I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THIS MEMBERSHIP!.

They get you sucked in on their trial offer. Then you cancel days later and they continue for months to charge you even though you follow procedures to cancel. You finally have to get your credit card involved. Even though they admitted the could see I hadn't used it. They refused to credit me back any of the unused period.(6months) The Supervisors at PeopleFinders are totally rude and talk over you. Nightmare. Buyer beware!

Be careful with the trial for a dollar, or for $3.95! What they don't tell you when they say they give you 3 days, is that you don't have until midnight of the 3rd day. You have until the exact time that you opened the account. They give you a total of 72 hours! That's it! Needless to say I thought I had till midnight and they charged my account $24.95!
Poor form and deceitful!

Rip off. The page said name of person was available then the report never gave me the name of the person. The report was basically the exact same info the webpage showed before paying the 1.95 (very limited info, only the zip code). The webpage is very deceptive and tricky. Do not use this company. They make their business ripping off people.

Why can't I give 0 stars?! I was bilked for more than I thought and the information wasn't close to correct. Also - I want to echo the person's view on Whitepages.com - is it worth it to sully their reputation by allowing these scammers to piggyback on inquiries?

You have been warned! DO NOT give them your credit card number. If you have already given them your credit card number, call your Credit Card issuer and block them for charges. Continue to monitor your account because they are likely to change the Merchant Number. BEWARE!

BUYER BEWARE! I went to their site to locate an old friend from high school. I located the person and paid the $1.95 one time fee for the information. The person I was looking for was in Ohio. The information I received was from people in California, not Ohio. So I just went to another site and obtained the correct information I needed. I then called PeopleFinders.com at *******997 and talked to some woman. I explained what happened and she said it was a computer glitch. I asked for a refund of which she said they don't give refunds but would be happy to do another search for me. I told her I already got the info I needed and I wanted a refund. She again said they don't give refunds even though the computer glitch was their fault. So even though they admitted it was their fault, they still refused to issue a refund. Lesson learned. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH PEOPLEFINDERS.COM

One day my bank came to me about a suspicious credit card charge of $50.75 under CFK*PEOPLEFINDERS. Never use the service, never even heard about the company name. God knows how they managed to get hold of my credit card details. This reeks of scam and unauthorized behaviour.

Wish I had read these reviews before wasting my money. Looking for current address for a person that owes me money. Site claimed it had the current address and after I paid, all I got was an address that is a year old. I know she moved twice since the address they had and also the addresses they give have no dates on them, so pretty useless. Their customer service does not respond to your complaint of FALSE ADVERTISING, instead tries to justify their blather. How can they claim to have a current address and then not provide it? They should claim "last known address" and then of course no one would pay them. I am reporting to BBB next.

To get your $$ back, file a dispute (online or by phone) with your credit card company. It only takes about 5 minutes. Also, Federal Trade Commission website will take fraud complaints online and the Better Business Bureau will contact them and follow through.

They charged me for a single report AND a 1 year membership which I opted out of repeatedly. There are MULTIPLE reports on the BBB site of this company doing the same thing to others very recently.

Signed up for the $2.95 trial membership. It was not helpful to me, so I cancelled immediately... same day. I checked my bank statement today and discovered I was charged the $2.95, plus 3 other smaller charges for information I requested, and now the full amount of $29.95. I called and spoke to a Jennifer at People Finders and tried to settle the issue over the phone, but she accused me of lying and said that I only cancelled PART of my membership. There were no other PARTS of a trial membership, and if I had signed up for others, I would have cancelled them as well. The information they provided for a FEE was stuff I could find online for FREE. Turning them in to the Federal Trade Commission for FRAUD. I also filled out a complaint with the BBB and found that over 400 others have reported them the same complaints. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM. I am out $34.35 in only 6 days, and I only used their service for ONE HOUR.

I used this service once. They claimed a one time fee for a single search. What they dont tell you is that while you sign up to usea sigle search, you are being signed up for a regular membership that they charge $24.95 each month, listed on your bank or charge card statement as CFK*PEOPLEFINDERS *******997 CA. In addition, you get signed up, without your knowledge or specific approval, for another service for $24.99 per month, listed as CFK*PF REWARDS *******997 CA.

They then charge you those fees each and every month. I called them to cancel last month. They refunded one charge, but not the other. This month, what do I find? The same two charges again on my statement.

Steer away from this site, like the plague.

Peoplefinders billed my credit card for nearly $60. That I did not sanction. They hung up on me when I called about the false charges. I would never do business with them. They are a scam company.

After the Peoplefinders website indicated it had more information on an old high school friend I had been searching for for 25 years I paid the fee and got NOTHING, He was on his way to visit me from Chicago and then dropped off the face of the earth. Peoplefinders is a lying SCAM WEBSITE. I have checked the Better Business Bureau and read literally hundreds of reports from pissed off customers reporting very poor business practices and massive deception. Stay away from them.

RIP OFF! Never got anything free and the information SUCKED and was generic at best. I Cancelled immediately. Guess What? I didn't notice that my credit card had been tapped for several months. Ya, they say they will give me back 3 months. We will see. Should I be happy? Should I be happy to get financially raped for the other months that didn't get refunded? Learned a lesson though. (( EVEN IF YOU DON'T USE THAT CREDIT CARD, CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT OFTEN)) You may get a surprise too.
