I would like to start my comment by thanking Thalia, who works at Peoples Jewellery located in Hill Crest Mall, for helping me choosing the perfect Christmas gifts. She helped me taking the correct choice of gift based on my relative's personality, age group, and character. Thalia is a very professional person who can definitely answer all your questions and fulfill your request. I highly recommend her.
I would never go back to Peoples Jewellers store. In the Scarborough Town Center the Ladys tried their best to fix the problem and I Paid what I initially agreed with.
I purchased a necklace for my wife as a Christmas gift, after receiving an email telling me 'order today and have it before Christmas'. That was Dec 19th. The delivery date was showing Dec 24th, so I paid the extra $$ for 'express shipping' that would get it here Dec 23rd. The order sat for two days without any action, then I receive an email today, telling me it will be delivered December 27th. Called customer service and spent a half hour on the phone, only to be told 'it's not our fault, and you should contact UPS'. So not their fault they shipped the item out the day they told me it would be delivered here? They refuse to cancel and refund this due to their policy of needing to do so within 60 mins of the order. So basiclly I need to follow their rules, and they can make up their own rules and change my order details on the fly. Asked to talk to the supervisor who said it's 'not their fault'. Told I will get a call back in 2-3 days.
Giving them a 1 star, only because I can't go lower, and based on a complete lack of customer service and false advertising. Do yourself a favor and avoid Peoples

False advertising for shipping before Christmas, then tell you the truth after they have your money. Spent 30 mins on with 'customer service', then told I need to wait 2-3 days for a real customer service rep to call back

I purchase a gold bracelet at Peoples Jewelers in Brockville on Sept 25,2020. The cost was $800. It is a 10k gold bracelet and seemed to be good quality. On Oct 12,2020 the bracelet just broke at a link not the clasp. I am always careful with my jewelry and to have it just fall apart was shocking. Looking at it you could see that it had not been pulled apart, it just came apart. I called the store and they set up an appointment for me in a day or so. I brought it to them and they just quickly said that because I didn't purchase the extended warranty there was nothing they could do other than fix it and charge me for the repair. I said " so you are telling me that there is no warranty on your products other than the one you offer for an extra fee" They replied yes that is correct. What company does not offer some kind of warranty on high priced items? Especially only 3 weeks from purchase. Obviously Peoples Jeweler's. This was the second piece of jewelry I purchased that just fell apart. The customer service people there were very rude and uncaring of my situation. This will be the last time I EVER shop at any of their stores. You will get better service at a pawn shop so save your money and STAY AWAY!
It took 5 weeks to get my ring resized, wanted it to be 1/2 a size smaller and it came back unchanged. Absolute waste of time as I had to take in to somewhere else to get it resized once again.
I placed an order online March 21st, everything went through fine, money was taken from my account no problem. An hour later I receive an email stating myi order has been cancelled. I call and ask why, they tell me it was "flagged" for incorrect billing information. I triple check my info, verify with the bank all my info is correct and call them back stating they clearly made an error. Which was eventually discovered they had made and admitted to the error. I ask them to re-instate my order since they already had my money... they wouldn't do this and told me I would have my money within 1-3 business days. Fast forward two weeks later and I had still not received my money back... I had to call 9 times, and finally they took care of it over the phone and I had my money.
So I place another order, with a human this time, verified all the information is correct... my email confirmation says 10 business days just for processing, but their online portal says 1-3! I call, do live chat, call... and STILL get told two different things! I'm supposed to be planning a proposal but I can't do that if I can't even get a correct time frame from the seller!
I'd give less than a star if I could, if my eventual fiancee didn't eyeball and adore this ring so much I would gladly take my business elsewhere!

I bought a gold chain for my boyfriend in February of 2020 for our anniversary, thinking peoples jewellers was a reliable place to spend my money, I was dead wrong. Chain broke not even a month after having it and we sent it it in for repairs. 9 months went by with no chain! I gave them slack with the first couple months because everything was closed and behind on orders because of the pandemic. If we had not harped on these people about getting the necklace back I don't think we ever would have, they apparently had no record of the chain being brought back in because the whole store staff was changed in the middle of this. So after 9 months of constant phone calls and emails we got his chain back and it broke FIRST DAY of picking up. I made sure to get lifetime warranty on the necklace and thank goodness I did. At this point I want my money back to go to a new store and buy something that won't break, all they will give me is a new chain or store credit... TAKE YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Terrible. I went to the physical store in Oshawa to have a ring resized. The store employees told me to return the ring and reorder it in the correct size. I do this and for two months, and multiple phone calls to their customer service line later, I still do not have my money back, despite the store having their product back. People's Jewellers owes me a significant amount of money, but doesn't seem capable of figuring out their own system so that they can give me the money I am owed. Every time I call I get told to wait a few days and the money will be returned, but I have yet to see any progress with this complaint. Seems like the company just doesn't care that they have essentially stolen from a customer. I no longer have the ring as it was returned to the store and I no longer have my money as they refuse to give it back. Just today I was on the phone for an hour and a half with no resolution. They said they would call me back in 10 minutes, it has now been almost an hour. I doubt I will get a call at all.
I bought some jewelry on Peoples website in February 14th and they give my money back with no explanation! Don't buy anything from them, is a shame company!

Took a watch into the Sherway Gardens store for repair early Aug. 3 times told it would be back but got only excuses. Now 1 month later still not done. DO NOT EVER BUY OR REPAIR ANYTHING AT PEOPLE'S.
Ordered a bracelet before Christmas, then after Christmas get the notice that in fact it is no longer available and order canceled

I purchased a ring, bought the life time warranty that was supposed to cover for the ring size up. I also dropped an older ring for size adjustment. They were supposed to call me about the cost and the promise time for receiving both adjusted rings was 3weeks.
After 2 weeks I received a call from them that it is going to cost double the amount, so I told them to go ahead only with the new ring which was covered by the warranity.
Another 3 weeks passed by then I called to check on the status of the rings, I was shocled to know that both of the rings were returned to store without the size up for any.
They told me that there has been a misunderstanding and here we we have to go through the whole process and wait time all over again.
I forgot to mention that they asked me to pay for the ring size adjustment eventhough it was covered by warranty which I had to remind them it is there on their computer system.And some how they linked all of this to Covid19!
I even lost the interest for that ring as the occasion it was bought for has passed and lost its meaning.
I am just hoping the outcome would be worth waiting for.

Went to people's yesterday to buy my husband a replacement wedding ring. It is our 10 year anniversary this weekend. It was a surprise, so I didn't know ring size. It first took me 10min to even be allowed in the store as both entrances were blocked because of covid. I paced around the front of the store waiting to be called. ( no customers in the store, just staff) someone also walk up and they let them in right away. So I walked up and said hi again. I was told someone will be with me in a moment. So far I do not feel this is a good start. I entered and explained to the lady my situation. We continued to go through mens rings, me asking questions along the way. She wasn't very knowledgeable and didn't seem bother asking one of the 4 other people working there. So, I asked her, "you guys must be really busy?"She said "yes we are tring to fill online orders." I then decided on a ring and double checked than I could bring it back for resize or exchange if need. She told me I could not have the ring, until my husband came in and got sized and then it would take at least 3 weeks to arrive. When I asked why I couldn't just pay for this ring, so I have something to present to him on our anniversary and it suppose to be a surprise. She shrugged her shoulders and told me to come back with my husband for resize. Nice surprise! Thank you peoples for wasting my time and consider online purchases more important, then face to face. If that is the case, get rid of your store fronts, because people don't generally like driving far to get treated like crap. Feeling defeated, I left the store and went to Charmed Diamond centers around the corner. 2 people greeted me and immediately and let me in. I explained everything I need. They had no problem with exchange/sizing. I chose a ring and was out of there in 10min with no issues. Seriously Peoples jeweller! You guys do not deserve to be in business! I will never shop there again and will continue to tell others to go somewhere else. I would not give any stars, but that is not an option on this site.
I would not have given people the 1 star if I had the option to opt out, take a read about my friends journey working with peoples... the customer service was absolutely terrible. The entire engagement process went poorly from October 2019 up until June 2020. The bride has been engaged this entire time with no ring/no temporary replacement, and it has been a rollercoaster attempting to work with the customer service of Peoples Canada (Calgary Market Mall, Calgary South Center Mall and Calgary Chinook Mall).
While acknowledging the current circumstances, People's has proved to have low quality rings, set to a high price.
1. Ring sizing had to be redone more than 3 times (6 week increments for wait time)
2. Center diamond fell out 45 minutes after being on possession, after waiting 2 months for it to be properly sized (low quality), just to have it sent back a fourth time.
3. The halo was bent (low quality) one week after she finally received the ring People's took it upon themselves to bend the halo back into place in front of us with a pair of pliers (genuinely shocked as the customer service staff stated that this was normal and that this is happening due to the ring style choice... my argument for this is, it is their job to help inform their customers of all styles for a $3000 ring, not just push for a sale)
Preceding this incident, the bride selected a new ring on February 17,2020 to have a more "sturdy" ring and she still has not received it, even though they phoned to inform that the ring had arrived on June 19,2020... the wedding is August 15 and this is absolutely unacceptable regardless of the COVID circumstances, why notify an excited and waiting bride for more disappointment? She's been engaged for 8 months but only had the ring for 3 weeks... The staff has not been understanding at all and state to the bride "sweetie this happens"
Furthermore, we have decided to take our business to Spence Diamond; they worked with us efficiently, communicatively, and showed us that they genuinely care that we are happy with the ring we select. I would not recommend People's Jewellers Canada for any type of jewelry due to the entire experience with the customer service staff. They showed that they did not care about making this moment special during the entire process, and were disrespectful when problems with their jewelry arose this should not be happening due to the quality of the jewelry.
This is not a reputable company, and the time wasted at all three Calgary locations with the ingenuine teams of staff has been turned around by going to an entirely different company.
Here are some photos, always remember to read the reviews before purchasing a piece of jewelry that is so precious in meaning; Peoples will never be the place to go, the last 8 months of hope have proven this.
I do not wish this experience upon my worst enemy, do yourselves a favour and look EVERYWHERE before committing.
