I took a car to pep Boys and was greeted by ASHLEY R and was very impressed by her attitude and knowledge of a car. After I received an estimate, I went to store next day and talked to MILTON D, he explained what needed to be done and I told him to do only what is immediately needed, he worked with me and gave a renewed estimate and car was repaired to my fullest satisfaction.
This is a follow up to my first review in 2023. After many months (since September 2023) of promising to replace my center cap, I finally received it for my Audi convertible. Today is October 7,2024 and for the first time since installing the new tires at Pep Boys, I had my brakes checked out, which meant I had the tires pulled. Fortunately, I was there when the mechanic pulled them. Guess what I found? On one of the other tires, they had broken all of the plastic prongs on the center cap and taped it on with what looks like black electrical tape. Of course I took photos, but no sense in going back to them. They will just deny it. They had probably done the same with the center cap that came off immediately, but this one happened to stay on. Moral of the story...never, ever go to Pep Boys unless you want your car destroyed.
Bad service never coming to any of your store again, i came in to buy some new tires never bought any tires before i am new to this well the guy just gave so many choices and advice on what i should get so well hes a professional so i just listened to him, and got what he recommended me to get, left with the new tires put on. After just 2 weeks of driving the front wheel and back wheel came off on the high way i got a big major ticket for that almost cost an accident, came back here and said that i should consider on buying new screws when the police said the screws must have been loose. When actually it should've been tight
My car broke down 1 mile from Pep Boys and I had my car towed to them. I needed 3 things. A battery, alternator and belt. I was quoted $1020. 00 with parts, labor and service fees. Oh and I paid $18.00 to have them do an analysis. What are service fees aka "pocket fees" I asked? The answer was unclear and are not listed under the labor cost. I told them not to do the work. I had my car towed the next morning to a garage where I was quoted $562.00 parts and labor included. I will never go back to Pep Boys. They should be investigated.
Tip for consumers:
Do not have your car serviced here.
The Pep Boys in Pleasant Hills, a suburb of Pittsburgh, is crooked beyond belief. They practice double-billing. For example, it costs an hour of labor ($110) for replacement of a brake hose. Since it only takes a few seconds to actually replace a brake hose, you are paying for removal and reassembly of the brake pad and caliper. That's fine. But if the pad, rotor, caliper, etc. is already apart for replacement they will add $110 labor to the hundreds of dollars of labor for the other work! I took it to a higher level of the company and got my money back but that's not the point; they were caught trying to cheat me. Stay away.
I went to change my tire on the car and they damaged all my ring tire. I tried to speak to the manager and he told me it was curve rash. I even call customer service to help me and it been a mont and they didn't do anything. They just ignore me tell they will call me back. They just care about their money. Even a tire log was damaged.
Pepboys will over book and provide a unhealthy waiting area. Tool 2.5 hrs to get and oil change and possible Covid-19 infection. Got trace call this morning from them. Never will I do business with them, save yourself and do the same.
I have attempted twice to order a floor jack on the Pep Boys web site for local delivery to a store for payment and pick up. Each time the online service verifies the pick up order but after 6 weeks I still have not received any notification that either order for the items has arrived for pick up. I understand the delays due to Covid19 but this seems a bit excessive. I wonder if because I am selecting the pay in store option upon pick up if the system is downgrading my order for delayed or late fulfillment. It matters because the price online is $45 cheaper when ordered online as a special. If I cannot actually get one at this price on line then its pointless to advertise it on line and very misleading. Disappointed.
I have an old Lexus and my AAA battery died. No one could open the hood. After 1 1/2 hours the repair team at the Tamarac Pep Boys on Commercial Blvd got the hood open, did an oil change and jump started the battery. They charged me $51! The dedication that Jamal B and his repair team have to the car is phenomenal. I would give them 6 stars if I could.
Thank you Jamal B! I have recommended Pep Boys Tamarac to two people.
I purchased 4 new Cooper tires with hazard protection Almost $1000 Today 6months atter i had to replace a tire they said was cut by a peace of metal. I asked if these were strong how could it get so easily cit. I found out because the tires are already dried out its easier to get damaged quickly. I wont ever purchase any services from Pepboys again. I went to the Tucker location. People do your research before using them. Not good. ElJackson
Scratched, Nicked, Gouged and Dinged the aluminum wheels on my Silverado while installing 4 new tires. Disgusting how they can be so disrespectful of customers vehicles. Very disappointed with the service and I can never go back there again.
I had a 10:30 appointment at pep boys located at 4164 N Milwaukee ave, Chicago. I arrived at 1020 am for a simple oil change and tire rotation. It took two hours for a oil change and after I arrived home found out that my tires were not rotated as stated on my receipt. The best part is they were not busy, and when I called about my tires not being rotated I was told the technician stated the treads wore evenly and the tires did not need to be rotated. Store #1497 work order#*******
A black male customer went to explain that the wrong tires was order, Lisa was very unhelpful and denied making the error, and told the customer not to come back to the store again. The customer spent over $1000. This shows a lack of accountability & dishonesty. Do better!
You buy battery in this place go back months latter and the not honor your warranty company closed retail all your warranty for your parts you lose everything because company closed retail in service only try to still from you sell stuff you not need over sale it's there goal still your money because make money but commissions
I booked a 1300 appointment to take my dodge ram 2500 in for an oil change and tire rotation. Wasn't able to purchase the motor oil I request at the time I made the appointment. It took over 2 1/2 hours to complete the job. They forgot to reset in oil change indicator, and also didn't put the correct tire pressures in the front or rear tires. Basically, I would not recommend this business for any auto service of any kind.
2.5. Hr wait Did have an appointment. Didn't matter. No customer service When I went to ask for the first time about my vehicle I was told it was being worked on I explained that was impossible it was still where I parked it Never Again

Don't go there for services!
They ruined my 2013 Toyota Prius
I went there for an oil change and they damaged my car.
The techs don't know how to reset the service reminder and they asked me to take it to the dealer.
Which cost me more than $1370 to correct the mess they created.
Drove to Wendy's Hamburger to get a bite. To give the correct change, I unbuckled my seat belt to get the loose change out of my pocket. Would you believe that a dime fell from my pocket into the chamber of the buckle preventing me from securing my seatbelt. After screaming out loud, I finally called pep boys on Dunn ave. In Jacksonville Florida and Mr. Steve picked up the phone and after learning of my Delima, he chuckled a bit but told me come to the store. After two attempts, he was able to fish the dime out of the chamber of the buckle and saved my sanity! I really appreciated his willingness to help, and I didn't even have an appointment. Man, in this day and age it's rare to find someone with such an awesome attitude and eager to help! Thanks Steve! Really appreciate it! We will send our friends and family to the Pep Boys Location on Dunn Ave here in Jacksonville, Fl. *******.
We took our only vehicle in to get a noise around the tires looked at. They thought it was one thing but it was something else. No biggie. Got it fixed drove home had my husband test drive it. A new sound appeared. My husband drove it back and barely made it. The looked at it and said it was the transmission lines and they were leaking for a long time. I have no leaks in my driveway or anywhere i park. I had to have my van towed to a shop to have them look it over. My transmission is shot and there is no problem with the lines. Now I can not get anyone in corporate to return calls. The whole company is a scam. BUYER BEWARE.
I went to pep boys for rear brakes. They wanted to charge me 1200. 00. They lied to me told my brakes were leaking. I went for a second opinion and surprise not true. My brakes charge was 283. No leak. Hmm all I can say is shame on pep boys for taking advantage of me because I'm a female. Please don't go the location in arlington heights road and rand. They are nothing but a bunch of schamers.
Brought my kia soul in for an oil change. Got a bad vibe from the lady handling the service just rude right off the bat. Placed my car in the service lane and waited, lady busts in and says car won't start and she would check my electrical system for 15 bucks! Wouldn't offer a jump to get my car out of the way just left me there, luckly I had my own jumper because I've had the problem before. It's the battery that's the problem. I told her that but since I wouldn't spend the 15 bucks needlessly she left me stranded, what a JACKASS.
They were able to solve problems I've had with my vehicle for months that other mechanics couldn't even detect. Employees, is extremely personable and provided me with extensive detail about the problems surrounding my vehicle, and what they did to fix them.
Cheap products, crap service department. Check the prices on the retail side and compare it to the service cost. They charge you 3 times more for the same product. Also check the dates on the crappy tires and batteries they sell.
Ethan Goober sure does has a funny way of being professional. I was in for a simple inspection yesterday, everything was fine outside of the dude running the front desk asks me for my keys (which I just handed to him / he misplaced). 45m later everything was good to go, or so I thought. I show up to register my car, and their Tech Timothy Williams entered the license plate number wrong, mixing up the letters. I called today for some assistance / customer service but Ethan Goober had other plans. This peeked in high school guy, Ethan Goober, refused to apologize for his tech's ignorant mistake and refused to take any accountability for said (dumb) mistake. If you see Ethan Goober, know that he's fake (super polite when you're paying) and miserable (unprofessional goober when you need help). No customer service, just told me to "Take it up with Pep Boys" and hung up. Yeah, okay. I'll take it up with Pep Boys, no problem, Ethan Goober.
Tip for consumers:
Ethan Goober really should be re-introduced to how to behave professionally and provide customer service when dealing with customers needed assistance after his team made an obvious mistake.

I went to Firestone for better service.
Pepboys informed me that I needed a new alternator. I had a professional look at it and I didn't need an alternator at all my belt broke off. They also had the audacity to charge me a fee just to look at. RIP OFF
