I took a car to pep Boys and was greeted by ASHLEY R and was very impressed by her attitude and knowledge of a car. After I received an estimate, I went to store next day and talked to MILTON D, he explained what needed to be done and I told him to do only what is immediately needed, he worked with me and gave a renewed estimate and car was repaired to my fullest satisfaction.
This is a follow up to my first review in 2023. After many months (since September 2023) of promising to replace my center cap, I finally received it for my Audi convertible. Today is October 7,2024 and for the first time since installing the new tires at Pep Boys, I had my brakes checked out, which meant I had the tires pulled. Fortunately, I was there when the mechanic pulled them. Guess what I found? On one of the other tires, they had broken all of the plastic prongs on the center cap and taped it on with what looks like black electrical tape. Of course I took photos, but no sense in going back to them. They will just deny it. They had probably done the same with the center cap that came off immediately, but this one happened to stay on. Moral of the story...never, ever go to Pep Boys unless you want your car destroyed.
I made an appointment online for 8:30 am. First, they have ONE person behind the counter, I arrive at 8:15 and don't make it to the counter until 8:50. The guy tells me he only has 2 mechanics, so I ask how long will it take. He says a couple hours. Generally, a couple of hours to most people is about 2. Then I wait and wait and wait and wait. At 10:15am I go up to the counter and ask if my car is ready as I stepped out to get something to eat. He checks and says I'm next. 11:11 comes around, I walk back up to the counter and inquire about my vehicle. The manager tells me they are bringing the vehicle in now. So it took them almost three hours to get my vehicle in the bay to do an oil change. I ask, why have appointments if people are going to have to wait three hours for their car to be worked on? He says, the system allows 9 appointments per hour and they only have two mechanics because of corona virus. My next question is, then why not book appointments for the staff you have? His response is, I have no control over that. So not only were they understaffed for the business they had, they are making all customers wait extensive amounts of time. You tell me a couple of hours, like any normal person, I'm thinking the job will be done by then to just starting. GREAT WAY TO DO BUSINESS! I will NEVER RECOMMEND PEPBOYS. The service is atrocious. You see employees lazily walking around as if there is no work to be done. And a general, "I don't care attitude." I will not be coming here again.
Drop my car to have brakes and alignment done around 3; 30 I got back 6:30 they didn't touch my car and waited 45 minutes until they find my car keys unbelievable bad service 08/25/2022

THEY HAVE NO CLLUUEEEE WHAT THEY ARE DOING, HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION, LOST MY KEYS! CHECKED MY LIGHT, PAID $500 TO FIX SOMETHING FOR THE LIGHT TO COME ON 2 DAYS LATER. THEY 2 EMPLOYEES WRECKED INTO EACH TO EACH OTHER IN CUSTOMERS CAR! STRAIGHT BULL$#*! $#*! PLACE
I was given used tires for the price of a new set of tires. They looked clearly used and the tread depth varied with each tire, but they fraudulently documented each tire had the depth of 10. I called and complained, and the manager smirked at me when I came in to view video footage that proved nothing. Even he confirmed the tire depths were below 10 and varied. How can this be possible with a brand new set of tires? I filed another report, the area manager called from a private number and was very unprofessional, he claimed Definitey HP 800 tires are no longer made, and their old, so the tread can just erode. That is a lie, but even if true, why would you sell them full price as new if you know they are not in good condition? He then said, " we don't sell used tires, and what you want me to do? If you don't like them you can get a new set installed and pay the difference." U couldn't believe the Area Director of Duluth, Ga can conduct himself in such an unprofessional and deceitful manner.
Tip for consumers:
Stay away from pepboys. Keep all documentation, inspect work done before you leave the premises, get names of every person you speak to. Assume everything they tell you is a lie.

Stay away from Pep Boys Auto Repair Shop at ******* Industrial Parkway SW, Union City, CA *******. One of their mechanics sabotaged our BMW X5 by making a cut in one of the drive belts, damaged the oil lter compartment, and made cuts in the both front CV axle boots. We have a statement from another shop verifying this. The idiot mechanic did the sabotage because he disagreed with the fact that the shop had damaged the oil lter compartment and the drain plug when changing the oil. They will be taken to the Small Claims Court for reimbursement, they will be reported to the BBB and the Bureau of Automotive Repair. So, beware and stay away from this shop because it will happen to you as well.
Got a new Battery without a single question.
I returned my old defective battery, and even without a receipt, and get a new one right away.
Viva America
Here at 6340 n. Davis hwy in Pensacola, fl I show up at 5:30 pm to get one trie put on and I got push back by 3 other people before me it now 8:00 PM they now got my vehicle in the worst pep boy ever
I feel like Pep boys takes advantage of the fact that there isnt much competition. They have the parts and do the labor at their facilities; however, they are ALWAYS CHARGING WAY OVER ANYONE ELSE! Its disheartening, I need a new battery for my car they want to charge me $178 which is insane. My car is 10yrs old, and I can buy this same battery for half the price anywhere else. BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO HV TO INSTALL IT. I guess to save the money I'll hv my husband use the 2 tools n 5 mins it'll take to put it in :) Like I said disheartening because they advertise FREE INSTALLMENTS BUT ITS NOT FREE THATS WHY THEY CHARGE DOUBLE. IM DONE WITH PEP BOYS
About 6 months ago I bought a battery at the lake Grove pepboys. They were nice enough to price match a competitor. Now it's dead. Ok it can happen but I know it's covered under warranty. I called the 800 number because I couldn't find my receipt. Using the information from my bank account I gave them everything they needed to track it down. They said it would be 24-48 hours and they would email it to me. 4 days later I called up because I hadn't received it yet. I was told they found it and then put on hold for a manager who could email it to me. After about 10 minutes I was told the manager was busy but would email it to me by 9. At 10 I called back and got an unpleasant person who again confirmed they had my receipt and would probably email it by the end of the day. Later that day they sent it. Now I call pepboys and was offered to leave my car all day and they would try to get to it. Instead I made an appointment for 3 days later because that's the first one they had available for me to wait for it and not leave it all day. Now I wait the 3 days get to the store where they booked my appointment as a drop off. Then I'm told I don't need the receipt I bought because I bought it at the same store. How can one company handle a simple battery problem this poorly. As I write this my appointment was 45 minutes ago. My car hasn't been touched and what should have been a ten minute process is now over a week in the making.
Sometime ago I needed brakes put on my car. I got passed around by several guys who each gave me a different price and time frame. I was even told to leave my car while they disassembled my brakes. I did so. Before I left I was for em a price and time frame. You was called back by the time I got there there was whole other story. Then the shop manager (Hispanic guy) got involved. He was just as inconsistent as the staff and worst. He literally lit a cigarette in front of me, spoke to me i a condescending tone and when he realized that he couldn't hold my car hostage for an undetermined amount of time and over charge me, he told me that he didn't want my business. I recorded the whole conversation. I called the corporate office to complain. I never heard back from them. While this was a while it continues to play in my mind. There's no way I will let that fly. This store located at 3829 Austell rd Austell, ga. *******. Needless to say I got much better service and much better rate at Kauffman tire. Not all Pep boys are trash but this particular group of people were. I wouldn't be surprised if the manager quit because he clearly wasn't happy with his job.
I've been to this store quite a bit. Employees are great and helpful. The supervisor however needs to sharpen his customer and employee skills. The kid that helped me "ELIJAH" WAS AWESOME.
THIS PLACE WAS A COMPLETE WAIST OF TIME! I previously made an early morning APPOINTMENT. So I left work and planned to go back. My engine light was on, I knew I needed a tune-up and asked for a tune-up. The guy at the front desk kept telling me they have to charge an $100.00 fee to check why my engine light was on. I agreed to just get the process started. I sat there for almost 3 hours and watched other mechanics take other cars back and other individuals leave out with their cars. I went up to the front desk and asked the guy when would someone start on my car he states "yours is going back now" I wait for about 30 more minutes until I was the last one left waiting. I look to see my car still sitting in the same place as before. I asked the guy at the front desk again when would someone start on my car. Once again he says "yours is going back now". Until I see him attempt to take my car back on his own. At that point, I explained to him I had an appointment and asked for my key back. He had absolutely no excuse. The very next day, I went to a reputable shop for a TUNE UP and I'm so glad I did. I was not overcharged for anything I didn't need, they were honest and I was in and out at a reasonable time.
I order a part online, I was not notified it wasn't in stock until the day of the delivery, and they charged my card for the full amount. I have to wait 7 days for a refund. SMDH...
I had a slow leak on one of the tires on my car due to a puncture. I went to Pep Boys but they were booked up for the day. So, I made an appointment to go back the next day. With an appointment and after waiting for 2 hours, they couldn't get to my car. The reason they gave me was that they were waiting for authorization from Fleet. I had to leave for another important appointment but called Fleet myself to verify how long they would need to authorize a service request. They told me the authorization was given right away. Pep Boys lied but one of their associates actually cared enough to call me back at a later time telling that they finally got authorization from Fleet, and that I should go back the next morning 15 minutes before they open to get service right away. Meanwhile, the slow leak worsened and my tire suddenly became completely flat. I had to put on the spare tire on road side. I returned to the shop the next morning and was the first one in line but guess what, they told me that they wouldn't be able to get to my car and I must drop off my car. I wasn't going to leave my car with them not knowing when my tire would get fixed. Three trips to Pep Boys, two of which with appointments and one even with pre-authorization, my tire remained flat! Something is seriously messed up at Pep Boys and I am done with them for life!
You have been warned. This is specifically the henrietta ny location. I made an appt. Over a week in advance. They asked if it was a drop off or if I was waiting. I told them I was going to drop it off, then go do errands, go to the gym (LA fitness at end of road), then come back so I was not going to leave it there. This was wednesday jan. 08 and there were snow squalls. I walked to LA roughing it out. I took my time at the gym, then went to walmart. It took me 3 hours to do those 2 things. I had an emission issue and trouble with my inspection cause they had ripped off my sticker for a stupid small evap leak that I cant seem to fix. So, I figured I would give them some time at least to dig in there cause evap systems can be tough.
I went back to the shop to check on my car and they had not started it. I was LIVID. I asked for the manager and they wouldn't come out to talk to me. That totally blew my mind! I had trouble with them before and the way they schedule things and get you going is a disaster. I will be speaking to someone about this and hopefully that manager gets fired! The only reason I go there is cause i bought tires there and have lifetime rotation and alignment. I told them to just give me my keys and left, so I don't have any paperwork to show. I will NEVER go there again! I hope this prevents someone from making that mistake
This month I bought Continental tires for our two cars on Amazon and elected to have them installed through Amazon/Pep Boys link. First installation was at Moreno Valley Pep Boys. To make a long story short the install was almost two hours long and I was the only one in the waiting area for an hour. Next I had my wife's tires done at Pep Boys Riverside Magnolia. She waited there as well as she was the only customer there. It also took almost two hours for the installation. Both with appointments go figure! 100 minutes each really? Pepboys advertise average tire install at 45 minutes. Https :// www.pepboys. I've been a customer of PB for over 5 years, but have noticed a serious deterioration in the quality of work and importance of customer service over the past year or so. The website had incorrectly listed the wrong battery for the Prius 4 days to realize this & secure the appropriate battery. Meanwhile, I was without my car for 4 days. When they did replace the battery (located in the rear of the car) they neglected to put everything back in place... basically, just dumping everything in a pile. When I had an oil change, they neglected to replace the oil cap causing the oil to evaporate, but fortunately, no damage before I noticed it. As I was concerned about this deterioration in service, I contacted PB on 3 occasions and each time I received an email stating that "senior management" would be in contact "within 48 hours" and on 2 occasions stated that Mr Arash Behfar, Area Director, would contact me. I was never contacted, but I did call and left messages for Mr. Behfar with no response. Bottom line: Service is deteriorating and the fact that management is unconcerned with customer feedback supports the reason for this decline.
Yesterday I went pep boys in paterson one of Manger was nice he help find problem to my car THANK u Andres for helping solve problem and it was. Good person and manger
Expensive, but worth it if you are in a pinch. Better than a dealer, and the one near me is very friendly. Would use again!
Charging $70 for $3 part is criminal! And they'll rip you off if your a man or a woman. They have NO shame.
Bait n Switch... Pep Boys quoted a price for 4 new tires, when the bill came the price changed three times. Was sold the wrong size tires for my vehicle and the tires received we're not a matched set of 4 AND 2 of them appeared to have been used, possible returns from someone else. The mechanic took shortcuts, was very sloppy and damaged the wheels while trying to mount the tires. This place appears to hire second-rate inexperienced mechanics who couldn't cut it at Professional Auto repair shops. Reaching out to upper management at this company is a joke... no response. Only remedy is small claims court. Customers DO appear to receive a response from the company only when a negative review is posted on Yelp... then you will receive their usual canned post: 'We apologize for your poor experience, please send us your contact information.' Of course the company's insincere, generic response generated by the Pep Boys bots posted on ALL negative reviews AND WILL EVENTUALLY BE POSTED BELOW ON THIS REVIEW goes nowhere as it appears to be the companies go to strategy to help these Rip Off losers save face on the internet. Now I understand why multiple Pep Boys locations are closing Nationwide.

After bringing my car to pepboys, I was told they only had 1 person to replace a pully and to com back on Saturday. Price quoted was 40 for part 60 for labor. Returned on Saturday at 8 Am per appointment, left the car 3 hours later returned to find car was never touched. Manager said if I did not like it to take the keys and leave. I requested a manager and was told he was not around. I left the car and finally got a call from the manager who finally showed up for work. The 100 dollar repair was now going to cost over 700 dollars. After argument they reduced the price to 620 dollars which I had no option but to pay. The original person was disrespectful and condescending. Called the customer service number and was given a report number told I would recieve a call in 2 days, 8 days later no call. I called back and was again told there was no one to speak to and they would call me back again. I have never seen such rude and unprofessional company. I will never be using this company again and will start posting this experience in as many forums as I can. I am only doing this to help others not be disrespected and ripped off by this company. I would give this company a 0 but not an option
These guys are either con artists or just completely incompetent. The service guy tells me to replace the window tinting in just the back hatch to pass inspections, ok I did. Returned the next day to finish my inspection so I get my tags updated. When I bring it in the mechanic tells me that the back hatch window was fine, that the side windows needed to be updated. I tried to explain to them that I was very detailed yesterday with the other guy asking if it's just the back window or the side window. He told me it's just the back window that needs replacing. I have no problem replacing the tint, if it needs to be done I'll get it done. But I spent $115.00 to replace a window tint that didn't need replacing. They said the guy I talked to was new and from SC and didn't know the NC state laws and he was still being trained. None the less, I moved here more than a year ago, and depend on "professionals" to guide me with local and state laws. All I asked for is for them to reimburse me for there mistake. I spent more than $115.00 on a window tint that I didn't need to because of there lack of "professionalism" so I'm out the $115.00 plus the $60.00 for the inspection for a total of $175.00. I will replace the other tint, I will get my car inspected, I will spend another $60 to have someone else inspect my car after I replace the tint. Bottom line these guys are cons, scammers, or just incompetent. I contacted corporate HQ on Tuesday, have not heard a word from them, I have to keep calling them to see if there is any update. NOT A SINGLE CALL FROM THEM TO RESOLVE MY ISSUE FROM THE STORE OR FROM "HQ"
I recently had my oil changed at Pep Boys on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa as I usually do. I took my vehicle there today (As I usually do) for the service. The vehicle was serviced in minutes and several things happened that are very disturbing.
1. They did not even ask what I wanted for service (Full Synthetic, Half Synthetic?)
2. Upon completion if the service the tech drove my car out and parked it. He was full of sweat and in my drivers seat. No mask no gloves no regard at all for covid 19 safety.
3. The restroom in the shop was totally disgusting.
I paid alot of money for this service. I expect that Pep Boys would have some regard for my vehicle. It is very clear to me that Pep Boys has zero regard for Covid 19 safety as well as customer safety. I originally wrote this review on their internal website to give them a chance to address it. I received an email saying that my review did not meet their standards and would not be published. Well guess what Pep Boys your service and complete disregard for my safety does not meet my standards. I would recommend that anyone who reads this think twice before utilizing pep boys. I will not be going there again. I would strongly suggest that this company shut the doors and review there saferty procedures.
