I took a car to pep Boys and was greeted by ASHLEY R and was very impressed by her attitude and knowledge of a car. After I received an estimate, I went to store next day and talked to MILTON D, he explained what needed to be done and I told him to do only what is immediately needed, he worked with me and gave a renewed estimate and car was repaired to my fullest satisfaction.
This is a follow up to my first review in 2023. After many months (since September 2023) of promising to replace my center cap, I finally received it for my Audi convertible. Today is October 7,2024 and for the first time since installing the new tires at Pep Boys, I had my brakes checked out, which meant I had the tires pulled. Fortunately, I was there when the mechanic pulled them. Guess what I found? On one of the other tires, they had broken all of the plastic prongs on the center cap and taped it on with what looks like black electrical tape. Of course I took photos, but no sense in going back to them. They will just deny it. They had probably done the same with the center cap that came off immediately, but this one happened to stay on. Moral of the story...never, ever go to Pep Boys unless you want your car destroyed.
I scheduled an appointment which I promptly kept. I had an Alternator installed and the battery light was turning on and off. I had the battery checked at the place i had purchased it and it was OK. I sat around for an hour and half until someone finally asked me what i was doing there and 10 minutes later i was told the alternator was OK. Not a very professional group
We ordered the part Pep Boys listed for our vehicle. Part wasn't even close to being the right part but even though it was totally their mistake they refused to take the part back brand new in the original box in the original packing.

I bought new tire there that was great. Then came back to get oil change in tire rotation. In some new rams with nothing showing on dash board. Drove my car home next day tire light came on. They put air in it. Reset. I was back there again with same problem
They said is my sensor in my tire. So I came they hade my car for hr half. Change the sensor came back on again. I came there three time seems like they don't have time fix what they put on my dash board. I won't to speak to owner. About this problem. I about fall on my faces running back forth. I paid 1,500. On wrong services for my car and I was over charged extra fees for tire rotation alignments and power steering check and so on and struts my car didn't need. I found out it was my brakes and disc that need replacement. And new coils. Why was I lied to. My car was shaking and driver tire was shaking to. Nissan Altima 2012
I asked the guy at the counter how much it would be for a wheel bearing for a Chevy Silverado he charged me $41.05 Just to tell me that I needed a left wheel bearing was going to cost $1100 to fix. I know I was born at night but not last night I'm not gonna be taken advantage of and it's not right. Be aware of them taking advantage of you
I went to get two tires. They would not put my tires on the front of my van like I wanted. I left without getting the tires. They told me that the tires had to be put on the back. My tires were fine on the back.
I went in for a wheel aligment and brakes which has a lifetime warranty. I get a call that the axle is leaking and needs replacement and is going to cost about $200 to fix it. I'm like ok change it. I get another call half an hour later - "we can't get your axle out, we will need to replace the hub axle assembly". I'm like don't do the work I'll come back for it later. "We damaged the hub trying to get the axle out so we can't put it back". How much is the hub? About $400. I went in thinking I was going to spend 300 to 400 dollars at Pep Boys and end up with an invoice over $1400. I had to fight to get a %10 off. I end up charging to my car $1294. I feel like if the mechanic was trying to get the axle out and could not they should have call me and say we can't get the axle out and if we try to force we are running the risk of damagin the hub assembly. Do you want us to force it out? That should have been the question.

It's the knowledgeable, professional, friendly and trustworthy mechanics and staff that make the difference. They have always explained to me when and why a repair is needed when I bring my vehicle in, and NEVER sell me anything that I don't need! I would never take my vehicles anywhere else. NYS inspection and axle repair
I took my car to Pep Boys Germantown, MD rather than the dealer (big mistake) for a simple alignment check and possible rotation. An hour later I was informed that I needed 4 new tires (mind you I haven't driven my car more than a 100 miles a month due to Covid), brakes, an alignment, and tire rotation, totaling nearly 2,000 dollars. I guess I had stupid written across my forehead. I informed them I would buy a new car before paying them for any repairs.
I then took my car to the dealer for their 19 point check and found the car was in perfect condition, did not even need an oil change since I am seldom driving it.
Disgraceful, disgusting behavior. Be cautious when dealing with this company. They don't allow you to write bad reviews on Google or with Yelp. They will delete the review for not following the guidelines, which is basically, don't ask, don't tell.
I want to pep boy in north Miami beach, the informed me my brake where good for 3 months. 2 day later my brakes failed and I had a car accident. I went to pep boy thinking they where a good company. I trust them telling me my brakes where good. I wouldn't go to pep boy. Very disappointed with their service. I wish i would have read this review earlier.
The site is easy to use. Shortly after placing the order a costumer service rep called me stating there were problems with my card and that my order was placed on hold. She asked if she could go over all my information and make sure everything had been typed correctly. I was able to get it all corrected and my order was shipped out that day and was recieved the next day! I was so excited to have my tire put on and car going! If they had not taken the time to call it would have been a day before checking my email and realizing there was a problem with my order!
Took the car in for a check engine light. Found I needed a part that they did not have in stock. The car is used by my daughter who needed to go back to college and couldn't wait for the part. I was told to call the next time she is back and they would take care if it than. I called to get the part ordered and was told I called too early and I should call back the next week. Called again and told still too early and they hung up on me. Called again and was promised it would 've there for the one day window we had to work with. No part and no call. Went to the dealership and found out the parts they wanted to install did not exist in my car. They are liars and cheats and will never get my business again. Pompano Beach, Fl

-1 stars if possible Went to go get a starter initially installed and the staff/experts said it was the alternator from the diagnostic test that I paid for read. I told them it was the starter and still said it was reading in good condition. They installed a new alternator and still had the same problem I initially went for. They won't reimburse me on something that was clearly their fault. Alternator was still good so I paid for a part that wasn't needed and now they are charging me for the starter! Worst place ever. They love to give you the runaround and won't contact you.
On august 2020, at 1:00pm. I have appointment for car alignment, I arrived on time and I told the one who attended me that the car probably needs new tire, he replied that the technician will inform him what the car needs. After 2.1/2 hours of waiting they finally started to check my car., 1/2 hours after they given me an estimated up to $3,000.00 not including the tire.
I take my car another workshop, they changed the tire and did not need alignment, everything was fine, the problem was the tire.
I dropped my car off at a 10 am appointment to replace a fog light. Headlights were working before repair but one headlight wasn't working after the repair. They denied that they broke it. I paid $39 for headlight repair on top of the $19 for fog light. The fog light repair took 1.5 hours to replace, but the new headlight took 5 minutes. I feel I got ripped off.
I couldn't be happy with the customer service, and help that I have received from Bill L at pep boys. He was so helpful, and the parts that I purchased were a great price. He rocked the customer service.

I have a blower motor that has failed. It has a lifetime warranty for the manufacturer. I was told that because the store that I Purchased the part from was shut down. They can't look up in the system (rewards) and see that I bought it from them. And I need a Receipt.
This is a 5 to 8 year old part. I'm Not going to have the receipt.

Pepboys once the go to franchise for your automotive needs, has become very poor, in-store and on-line price don't match. Online posted price in not honored. Would not recommend pepboys for your automotive needs.
Went in for all season tire, even ordered and made appointment. The said drop off at 2 and pick up at 4. At 4 they call me and said oops we dont have your tire and they put on a lesser quantity on my tire. My car wasn't ready until 7pm. Never again!
Inspection SCAM! I brought my vehicle in for NYS inspection. I was told the wait would be 15-20 minutes to get it in the shop. They got it in in 15 minutes, but then they had it on the lift for 90 minutes, and removed all four tires (NYS only requires one to be removed). Inspection should only take 15 minutes! Then they tell me I failed because of "uneven brake pad wear". That is NOT grounds for failing inspection in NYS! All of my brake pads are good, but I replace the pads on one rear wheel after a stuck pin, so that wheel's pads had slightly more meat than the other rear. They are just looking to sell unnecessary services. STAY AWAY!
When you have problems with ANY type of service -- then REPORT IT to the agency(agencies) that license them. You can also get personal satisfaction AND money back by going to lawyers who specialize in consumer complaints. And since you hopefully now realize that sadly not everyone out there is honest, check out the lawyer's reputation-reviews on the Internet BEFORE going to that lawyer. And of course keep up with your new habit of checking out other businesses before you give them your hard-earned money. It is simply the computer version of avoiding walking down dark, narrow alleys...
I went to Pepboy's in Cornwell Heights only because they are open seven days a week. My blower fan stopped working on my 2012 Versa do I brought it in. I was told the job was going to be 660. It was high but they've done work in the past and I work seven days a week. The job was completed at 5:45pm. I forgot to mention I had an appointment for 8:00Am. The manager told me they were closing at 6:00 and I would have to wait till Sunday to pickup my car. I had to be at work at 7:30 and had to get one of my friends to take me. In addition, I was told that the High HVAC Resistor needed to be replaced and I would have to bring it back.The part is about 35 dollars and I paid 245. When Pepboy's asked me about my service experience and I told them, there was no response. The manager is nasty and should be fired.

Ordered 2 sets of premium tires ($3,400+) for 2 of our vehicles. Gave a credit card deposit of $2,016. Took 1st vehicle in for appointment, was told they were 30 minutes behind, I waited. One hour later they still hadn't started, said most of their employees had quit and not sure when they could get to it. I asked about the other set of tires ordered for an appointment set for tomorrow, was told they couldn't get the tires. I canceled everything and asked for a refund back to my credit card, was told they don't give credit card refunds, that they would send a request to Pennsylvania office and if it was approved they would mail a check. Could take up to 3 or 4 weeks. Meanwhile $2,016 tied up on credit card.
These people are in my opinion crooks, DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! Look online at all stores being closed, BEWARE!
