Peruvian connection has been getting more and more expensive as their merchandise is of less quality. I have bought from them for 20 years. The cotton used to last for years. Now, a few washes and it has holes. I recently purchased an alpaca wrap. It was delivered dirty. I did not want to return it as I had an event to wear it to. In the past, I have washed alpaca, as it is a wool that has been worn and washed for a 1,000 years. Maybe more. The material was hand washed carefully. I prefer to hand wash vs using harmful chemicals. Dry cleaning is a major source of contamination in our water supply. Anyway the item was destroyed. Peruvian connection said it was my fault, and attempted to convince me to follow their washing instructions or I was responsible. Not once, not twice but multiple times. If you want to waste your money, and receive filthy merchandise and then be intimated and insulted, buy from Peruvian Connection!
Peruvian Connection's clothing is very expensive. Their high quality and unique designs used to somewhat justify an occasional "splurge" purchase. This is no longer the case. Materials have become extremely thin and cheap. Their return policy is a ridiculous 30 days. You'll find that many of their onsite (non-shill) product reviews honestly assess the changes in the quality of their clothing. How unfortunate that greed and lack of integrity are representative of this company now.
I've read the poor reviews of the longtime clients and would agree a couple of years ago. I too got terrible service at one of the stores.
But I continued to get the catalogues and the looks seem to have turned around.
I visited the NYC store recently. I got great service from Nick. I'm very pleased with the quality of the clothes I purchased.
The biggest reason I shop at Peruvian Connection is the uniqueness of their styles. I know I won't show up at an event looking like every else.
The quality of their merchandise does not justify their price points. Their photographs look much better than the items end up being. Also they don't wear well.
I do agree with other reviewers that the quality on certain Peruvian connection items has diminished and their overall prices have increased. I have shopped PC 15 years, I am a good, loyal customer and spent a lot of money over the years. My biggest complaint is with customer service. I wanted an credit on an item I purchased that had gone on sale. Still had 2 days left on 30 day refund, tags still on item. I asked for the credit, instead of shipping item back and reordering, lot of hassle on both sides and not environmentally conscious either. I was spoken to like I was some sort of criminal and chastised like a child. I was told there was a note that I had requested this once before about 2 years ago. Can you imagine the horror, requesting a credit on a sale item that was recently purchased, instead of returning and reordering, and doing it not once, but twice in a fifteen year period. Well I just found it baffling. Sent back the item, $460 sweater along with $1000 dollars of other items that were still unworn and with in the return period. PC chose to lose a good customer over a $90 credit.
Reputable and willing to please the customer! I have items from them I have owned for years. Devoted Customer
