Alley was exceptional so very friendly and helpful. Was an absolute pleasure. Great at offering other items as well... smile was so sweet
I came into your store to sell clothing. I saw you had purses 70%off. I grabbed two from the second each where it has 70%off. I was told those were not on sale they were the ones by the front door. Your cashier Bella was rude nasty and unprofessional! False advertisement! I will never come back here and I will be telling everyone I know family, friends about this and they will never come here again! Unbelievable! Fix your false advertisement! I will most definitely refer my fam and friends to encore!
Always friendly smile and helpful employees with every visit! I sold my items and rec'd 63.00! Always a good day when we go to Plato's!
If I can give Plato's Closet a NO star I would. This establishment is a joke they offer you close to nothing for brand name never worn clothes. If your planning on selling your clothes don't waste your time coming here. I left a garbage bag of neatly folded items new clothes never worn they took all my Jordache's and Levis and and give me $22.50 only to get back a huge mess clothes they don't want. I feel like the staff there didn't even look through your clothes. Wouldn't recommend coming here to this establishment - especially if you're looking to sell anything. I won't be coming back in here to sell my clothes.
I took my good clothes to the store and they selected high brand clothing and gave me $6.50 for expensive clothing. I didn't expect that my items would fetch so little I felt cheated. They do not allow you to watch their evaluation process and they do not disclose the items they selected. I think it's not good business to deceive the supplier never again will I take anything there I'd rather give to charity.

After reading the requirements and taking note of all the brands they were looking for, I made a detailed selection of my closet. I carried two medium bags full of clothes, Guess, Amercan Eagle, Michael Kors, Tommy, Levy's. When I came back, they just told me they would take Reebok's sneakers and offered me $ 3, for a completely new classic model! I thought I hadn't understood when he said $ 3 I was completely shocked. I asked him to return my tennis shoes. I meditated on the subtle way of stealing. If you take your clothes or anything else to Value Village at least you receive a 25% coupon
Greetings, I have been informed in the past that Plato's Closet allegedly discriminates with purchasing from individuals of color. New items, gently worn items, r never taken. I viewed dirty shoes, very worn items, on their floor. It seemed as it was a low class goodwill.Instead of purchasing the best, they prefer low quality. I guess some win, and some lose. My experience was just as I was told. My items wouldn't be purchased. Seems as if they were excited about turning my items away. Sad……. Does this occur everywhere? They shouldn't waste a persons time m, when they have a hidden agenda. I would never step foot in the store again. Comment if you've had the same experience.
I went to go sell a bunch of clothes after raiding my closet. These items were coming straight out of my closet mind you... They claimed everything was dirty and wouldn't accept anything until I washed it. So I washed ALL four trash bags worth of clothes, and brought them back at 8:15 pm. Only THEN when I showed up AGAIN did they tell me they stopped buying clothes at 8:00 pm. Complete waste of time.
So I'm early 50's and knew that this store had age bias as my 19 yo daughter had sold a lot here but when I would go in with high quality items they would not take them. So I went In and dropped off a bin with designer shoes and shirts under some regular clothes, still better than most clothes in store, including Michael Kors booties, Zara boots, Stuart Weizmann shoes etc. they retuned them all! They didn't even look at them! I went to a high end second hand store and they took them all in a second! Either it's age bias or ridiculously Ill informed personnel. Too bad for you owner of this chain as you're leaving money on the table by this bias. Don't feel sorry for you! Haha! #stupid
Tip for consumers:
Don’t waste your time here. Go to other second hand stores. Thrift stores have higher quality. Go to higher end thrift stores. People who work here don’t know quality items

Dropped some clothes off to sell. Said they didn't want anything and gave me my bag back. Got home and realized that they had taken some items and didn't pay me or give them back. Beware of what you bring in and get back!
Brought in four lulu lemon items (all in perfectly good condition and lightly worn), Garage, American eagle, and Pacsun jean shorts and jeans, Pacsun and Brandy Melville shirts, and I got only $60 for all of that. All of the Lululemon leggings were over $100 piece and barely worn or touched. I should have just sold my lululemon pieces online. Not only that, but the employees had a lot of attitude. Do not recommend bringing your stuff here, they rip you off. My friend brought her stuff in a few weeks before me and walked out with $170. Maybe they should use more than one employee's opinion on what they should keep. I also watched the employee and she would barely even look at the clothes. I also have a lot of nice clothes they didn't take. I had things like Playboy sweatpants and more Pacsun jeans they just didn't take. Yet they sell Shein products with stains all over them that aren't even in style.
I have tried twice now to sell my clothes to Plato's and they won't even look at it and "stop" taking stuff hours before they close. This is ridiculous and annoying. I have been selling clothes here for years and never had this problem until twice in one week I went two hours before close and they denied me to attempt to sell. The girl told me the first time they stop taking clothes an hour before they close to be able to process everything in the system which is understandable but today they stopped at 5 pm when they close at 9pm, which is ridiculous. You guys are losing so many customers because of this sell back system, it sucks.
I went into Plato's to sell clothes MY clothes. And they said they don't accept kids clothes. Only adult name brands. I am an adult and I don't wear kids clothes and I know they don't have a kids section. I brought in three bags one of which had 12 pairs of American eagle jeans in mint condition some with the tags still on. I got a whole two dollars out of those three bags. I'm not quite sure how American eagle isn't name brand but alright. Everything in that bag was name brand. I will not be providing my service no longer. Because this isn't the first time I was told I can't bring kids clothes in. I have not once brought kids clothes in. I know their rules and regulations and I'm quite mad about it
I called Plato's Closet last week and asked if they accepted men's clothing; I was told that they did. I was NOT told, however, that the store is for teens and young adults -- otherwise, I wouldn't have wasted my time going there today since I am not a teen or young adult. I had one container of jeans that don't fit anymore (brands like Versace and Levi's) -- not brand new, of course, but certainly not worn-out junk -- but they didn't accept anything, saying that items should be less than two years old. WHAT? This is a used clothing store? Even if I were a teen or young adult, I wouldn't waste my time shopping in this store after seeing the tacky items they had to offer. I very gladly left and took my clothes to Goodwill.
I hate Platos, they take advantage of people in desperate need and give them pennies on the dollar for clothing. Please don't sell your clothes to them, you should just donate them to someone in need.
Platos closet is the best place to get name brand clothes at low awesome prices, the employees are very courteous, helpful and have a great attitude, makes you want to come back. The new location it's easy to get to and anything and everything you could possibly need you can find in the store, I love Plato's Closet
I have bought and sold many items to a couple of different Plato's Closets. I have always found items I love and they have always taken most of the items I brought in! 90% of my closet is name brand items I got from them including Louis Vuitton. Their prices are very cheap too!
I made a purchase by cash back in 11/2020 at Plato Exton PA, and returned the item right away with receipt, but only got store credit, not money! More than this, I was told that the store credit was expired after one year when I tried to use the store credit up yesterday ( I threw the receipt in trash)! It is Plato 's return policy, Only get store credit is already very aggressive enough, but the store credit expiration is a truly robber's policy!
They tell you that they pay 30% minimum of what they retail items for. But, in reality, they will offer you much less and try to baffle you with BS if you question it. Plus they tell you exactly what they want you to bring in and then turn it down when you do. My theory is that they buy from employee's friends only, possible selling back the employee's own items. The stuff on the racks is far inferior to the items that they turn away.
Horrible, I had a huge amount of clothing items to sell to them that have never been worn and that on their website said exactly what they were looking for, none of my items were stained, damaged, or unusable and they told me they wouldn't buy any of it, then looking around at other clothing items there were torn, stained and unusable items they were selling that they had bought from other people. I was also told one time that if you just donate some of your items that they will just take the items and sell them in their store, without paying you your money for that item.
Went in the Jonesboro, Ga. On MtZion location with two bags of jackets straight from the laundry mat. When returned to see if any were purchased was informed they were rejected because they werent freshly washed. How would they know if they were washed or not they were still in bag and tied like i left them they were never even taken out of the bag. Waste of my time and gas for there lazy employers.

I brought coach purses, dresses, I was told to sign up on my phone and wait. When they were done she asked me for my drivers license then she said my items were not suitable…. Why did she ask for my drivers license then? Coach not suitable? From now one Goodwill.
I've tried to sell to Plato's multiple times, and they rarely take anything (I have like NEW stuff, sometimes never even worn) that they won't take... yet I go through their racks and find a ton of faded/pilled/etc stuff that I wouldn't look twice at. One time I bought a faux leather jacket and not long after the material literally starting falling off of it in chunks.
I love Plato's but, I was in there shopping and 4 songs came on in the store with lyrics using the f-bomb over and over... there were children in the store and I got back home and it bothered me... I called the store and asked to speak to the manager, the girl put her hand over the phone and said sarcastically "she needs to talk to the manager" a girl answered I told her about the music and her reply was" was it rap?" Really... I asked for the district manager to call me. I left my number and name... this is day 2. I called again and got the same run-around. Really?
I brought in Tory Burch shoes and jewelry. Coach shoes MK shoes and purse, Nike shoes. Most the thing was new. Or worn one time. And they tried to give me 40 for the older items and 30 for the new and better items. No way I will sell my tory earrings and ring set for 10$ yall is a joke. Brand new purses and shoes. For what 10 or 5 buck. They suppose to buy your items for half of what they will sell them for. And they don't do that. Items you should get for 20 or 25. Cause I'm sure they will sell it for 40 bucks for sure. Then what gets me is they have worn out clothing and shoes. But won't buy certain new brand clothing or worn once. They need to do better with they hiring process. Cause I think they pick what they want to buy. And have someone bring they old clothes and shoes in and buy them to make money for them self. I'm done. Never again anyone that buys toty knows it worth it and the jewelry does not fade or turn. This only half. They wanted to give me 30$
Tip for consumers:
Sell your old items you really don't care about any more. Or don't wear. That way when you get less for what you suppose to get it won't matter. Cause they suppose to buy for half what they sell it for. Don't take new items. Be careful cause they will buy just what they want to get for themselves

I end up selling old tory slides, new MK purse, old Nike brought from work. But worn once. Old Coach slides for 42$ but wanted to buy my tory jewelry and brand items for 30$ they crazy
Overall everytime I go to Plato's in Ann Arbor, Grandville, Grand Rapids, I have always had very helpful staff. Very well informed and quick checkouts always happen. Always happy with my experience there also with the great deals!
It's not fancy, but you shouldn't expect fancy. It's clean and most importantly, it has a ton to choose from. If you don't see what you need, come back in 2 weeks for a whole new store.
Tip for consumers:
The staff is helpful but it’s uncomfortable seeing customers give them a hard time around store policy.
