The website was decent to below average years ago, and I did talk to real people on it. There still are some real people that use the site; however, the site is on its last leg. The site has a decent layout and gives off a false image, but its sole purpose is to generate ad revenue. There are a litany of problems with this site.

1). The website brags about being FREE, but it asks for MONEY!
2). The are many fake profiles. They are blatantly obvious & appear automated, for instance fake profiles will be named in similar patterns such as Katie1843, Megan1123, Anne1345, & usually the false profiles have young good looking girls looking provocative and hardly wearing anything (This is done to get men to sign up) (Doing a reverse image search with tinyeye or Google usually confirms they are fake as well.
3). Emails are sent out from fake profiles saying they want to meet you! (Again, another thing to pull people on the site so POF can make ad revenue)
4). The matches are bogus, and are generated at random. (If you go to the matches page and hit REFRESH, it will give you a new random list of matches.)
5). Many users that complain, especially about the credibility of site, or its profiles or anything will get banned. (The fact the they get rid of users who raise eyebrows nearly proves they have something to hide.)
6. Duplicate accounts are not allowed, but there are numerous ones out there, and they are usually fake.

POF is way overrated everything I read about it is one and a half to two stars only for being such a great FREE dating site I know they have to be favored in the paid members I'm not going to pay to find out however I only gotten one chat in over a year I've had several married women that I know check my profile there's nothing wrong with it other than I will not post my possessions and that's the other thing NOT ALL women at least the women have more tech than other dating sites that one on POF ask me my penis size. Lol. I'm sorry to say they fish for the money at least what I have coming to find out I am not that bad looking I'm pretty cute I'm told by many women however I don't want to date in my inner circle I want to date outside my circle that's why I even use a dating site again I've heard nothing but bad about POF if so many people are getting married on POF I have not met one married coupel as many as they claim gets married from their site surely you would run into one? I used POF several years ago and it was great. I recently created a free account again and was surprised to see how different it was. I got lots of "Like" alerts, but had to buy a subscription to do anything with them. Like so many people, I clicked that I had read the Terms and Conditions in order to proceed. I bought a one year subscription because it was the cheapest per month, but if you are dissatisfied and want to cancel, you get no refund. IF YOU WANT TO TRY POF, BUY A ONE MONTH. I then discovered that POF ignores your preferences when creating matches and there really aren't that many "matches" that are real people; at least not any who will respond to you. Most must be unpaid because they have messaging disabled or say in their profile that they cannot see "Likes" and I must send them a message, which I cannot do unless I'm a paid member.

POF needs to offer a satisfaction guaranty. This should allow a person to cancel at any time and get a refund of their unused portion prorated to the subscription rate valid for the time they were active. For example, if I signed up for one year, but canceled during the first month, I should be charged the one month fee and receive a refund for the balance. POF would get better reviews that way; the way POF now operates, POF gets lots of "free" members that paid members like me have to suffer with and "support" and POF gets bad reviews.

The site is $#*!ing pathetic the slags are losers and are demented, they have no idea how to communicate

This site is a total scam you pay and if you get likes you have to pay more they have no phone contact no don't waste your money or time

This site is pure dog$#*!; moderated with a heavy double standard slanted and biased again the male species while the females get away with things that the males would be deleted/banned for. Lots of female misandrists. NO EVIDENT MODERATION AND NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOEVER. You will never get a response from customer service for anything you report whether you're a free member or an upgrade member. The features of the site are useless; create more conflicts than they resolve; Users treat the Meet Me feature as purely hypothetical without any basis in realty; System encourages females to send useless "Hey there" messages resulting in instant deletion; and they laugh all the way to the bank over the gullible and naive who pay money for other useless features such as tokens and propelling oneself to the top of a view list. Many many low life users - both male and female, and they ruin it for the legitimate users. THE SITE IS JUST AWFUL AND NOT WORTH PAYING A DIME TO BECOME UPGRADED AS THE UPGRADED FEATURES ARE MINIMAL AND DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE MONEY. SCAMMERS AND PROSTITUTES ARE RAMPANT ON THE SITE.

This sight kicks people off for no reason and is full of spam stay away from this sight never again would I ever use this sight

This was an okay experience for meeting plenty of women, but in my age group (40-50), most women seem unable to commit, and preoccupied with sex.

Don't get me wrong, I love sex, but when a profile says they're looking for a "relationship", it doesn't lead me to believe they're looking for sex. And yet, the majority of women think that sex is first, and the rest might come later.

Seeing as I'm looking for the whole thing, not just sex, the challenge was to find someone who wanted to actually get to know me. In the end, I dated for the better part of a year. I had several offers for sex. I dated one for three months and we indeed enjoyed great sex, but in the end it didn't work. She wasn't available most of the time, and therefore we didn't really get to know each other.

I ended up meeting someone from a social media site instead. We got to know each other first, before the sex. And now, it's simply amazing, sex included.

My bad experience from all of this... I CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH! I cancelled my POF account. I thought by cancelling, I'd also be cancelling the billing. Such is NOT the case! A month after I closed my account, my credit card had a charge for six months of premium membership! Wtf?

I wrote an email and they replied with instructions on how to cancel the billing. The problem is that I don't have an account! I can't sign in to cancel the automatic billing, because the account doesn't exist! I replied and they ignored my reply. There is a disclaimer about emails, that they don't answer all of them. That means me that if it helps their bottom line, they'll f*** over whoever they want.

I called my credit card company and they provided me a new credit card.

I did not get a refund for the six months of subscription I can't even use!

It's sad that POF can actually legally commit fraud.

All in all, it's a great meat market, if you're looking to get laid. I don't believe the overtly sexual behavior of women is the fault of website. Society's f'd up in that regard. No wonder there are so many failed relationships!

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER pay for a subscription!

THIS REVIEW IS FOR POF plenty of fish. I am a hopefull romantic and would like everyone to at least have a chance to meet the girl of there dreams that said it is not easy or instatanous but at least there is a good chance here I have a heart of gold and hope Cupid hits you square in the $#*! on POF you will talk to real people meet real people have a lot of interaction and get your money worth l have been on and off this site for 2 years now and just when you don't expect it BOOM here she comes the girl that IS perfect for you and I just found her lucky me finally this site is user friendly and easy to navigate and has many real people looking for love but again I had had many dates made some friends and met some to use the word strange people sex was pretty well available which is cool if you want while searching for that right person Lord knows POF has a large membership and seems more and more all the time give yourself the chance to meet your expectations whether it be just conversation on the site dating or having sex or hopefully the ultimate and finding the girl of your dreams this is the premier site to be on if you have any questions I am always available to help with your profile individual questions on how to land that girl and anything else so good fishing and luck on plenty of fish

Scammers! Scammers! Scammers! That's what they are and that's what they do they try to convince you to send them money or do whatever they want you to get your picture used for their identity purposes. After I caught on to their game when they asked me for over $700 I sent them a picture of money instead it's the only way you can get through to them now I have a picture on my profile that is so far in distance but they can't even see my direct face and I get aggravated and they won't accept it on any websites when it's not accepted on a website like that you can tell they are legit SCAM refer any site they won't accept it and they won't let it download because they want your face for their purposes to use as identity theft for any reason whatsoever so they don't have to put their picture on the website. These computer junkies will use it for any purpose whatsoever and when they find out that you don't even exist or you're out there is a computer genius. They block you indefinitely because they don't want to have to deal with you and they know what you're up against and they will block you from over 2,000 identities that they have and that's how you know what they're capable up there probably the site admin. Who basically runs the entire site and there is somewhere in the US but their IP proxy address is probably in another country. So if you're lucky enough don't even give them access to anything at least you have and don't allow them to get access to any of your credit card or bank cards if you're lucky he's a prepaid credit card to send them and just let them use that to get access to anything of yours and then cut it up and throw it away if its prepaid and then they would be using it for the rest of the week that hang up on them if you have a flip phone or any kind of generic phone let them use that phone number and then just crack it and throw it away and I'll be calling it in till doomsday

As a woman on this site, it has it's ups and downs. In 2012 I was on the site after 5 years of being single from a really bad relationship. It was only a year long, but it taught me to be careful about who I give my heart too. I finally decided to jump back in, since I worked really stupid hours, I rarely had time to go out, and when I did go out, I hated being hit on by creepy bar guys. It's just not my style. I got on POF and was on it for about 3 months. I chatted to a couple guys here and there, but none kept my attention. Once I got past the "hi" emails (saying nothing but that) I got frustrated and went to delete my account. I logged in and saw the "potential matches" on the top bar. I saw a cute guy (finally) and checked out his profile. We had a ton of stuff in common, he was attractive, and was right up my alley, as I was trying to figure out how to delete my profile for good, he sent me a message saying he wasn't an a-hole and he enjoyed reading my profile and seeing how much we had in common. (EVERY person's dream on pof. Someone who pays attention to who I am) we started talking, and met 2 weeks later. Turns out he was on the same day as me to delete his profile! It stemmed into an almost 3 year relationship. I was thankful for POF, and it had its ups and downs. I eventually left because he had addiction problems I couldn't handle anymore. We still keep in contact here and there, and he seems to be doing better. I was single a good 8 months, went through a quick 5 month relationship that ended HORRIBLY. And was single for 3 months and decided to get back on POF, and I was on for a good 2 months, and not 1 email, message, wink, or flirt. I don't write a lot, I'm honest, I have well over 6 great pictures of myself, mentioned what I'm looking for ect. And it's been silent. Everyday. I have men looking at my profile, but nothing. Even the ones I message-silence. I deleted my account and have been off since. I guess that 1 time was my time. I used to recommend it to everyone, but now, I don't think i'll ever go back on there. Paying is just a stupid waste of money.

99% of the profiles are of scammers. Stay away from POF. They all ask for money or gift cards. Stay away.

This is one of the best apps for dating poly couples. I will continue to use this for years to come.
