I love Priceline, but lately it's a little slacking. As I noticed when you bid, you got to bid much more than just maybe 2 years ago. Big inflation on the prices. Pro: got some good deal before and easy to use. Con: cannot cancel and won't know the name til purchased if go through Express deals or bidding site. Hotels gotten progressively more expensive.
Thier ticket said free carry on bag...I had to pay 99.00 for a carryon bag...fought with price line for 2 months and many many hours of customer service...these people are liars telling me that a refund is in the mail several times. Do not trust these people!
I have used Priceline many many times. But unfortunately I will no longer be using them. I booked two rooms 4 months prior to our trip. One week before our trip I get an email saying my reservation had been cancelled due to renovations. I was sure that Priceline would take care of me. Unfortunately they did not! The manager was not understanding at all. I had spent hundreds of dollars on tickets going to certain events. There was no way I would find another hotel in that area with this time frame. I feel they could have done more in trying to find other reservations for me. He basically told me here is your refund and now you can get back on our website and try again. They refunded me my reservation money and $90 extra for my troubles. This $90 was nothing compared to what I was already gonna be out. Very very disappointed in PriceLine for not making things right. Even after voicing my concerns of losing me as customer they did not care.
I inadvertently chose the wrong airport to land in and they would not correct it even though it happened only minutes after the purchase. I will never book through them again. The problem with these companies is they just don't get customer service. Restaurants for the most part do.
I live out of the country but maintain a FL address. Priceline sold me an insurance policy for my 1 day car rental (to visit my mother on Christmas) that the rental company didn't accept.
Priceline also sold me an "unlimited mileage" rental car... which was written prominently on the itinerary... that the rental company didn't offer to residents of FL (they call it a local rental despite my residence being 400 miles away).
And what's worse still... it's apparently all my fault for not reading thru the legal disclaimer mumbo jumbo until I got to paragraph 11... where it mentions I should check wth the rental company directly to ascertain their practices and policies before booking (isn't that I why hired Priceline? To find a company that sells me what I want (for the best price))?!?!
Never again. They are encouraging me to call the vendors directly... so that's what I'll do from now on.
Their lower prices seem tempting, but they raise the price on you at checkout and when you exit out of the page it's already too late once you put in your credit card info. They make it impossible to cancel claiming their "special rates" are non-refundable. That is just a legal cover so you can't back out of their scam.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid, just book directly sometimes you can find better deals. Use Slickdeals Chrome extension to automatically add coupons.

Rental Car, Hotel
I used their site to book a hotel room and my first attempt prompted a "This deal is no longer available" box to pop up, so I tried again because it was still showing up. I was charged for BOTH transactions less than a minute apart and Priceline refused to cancel one because they were both "valid." Will never be using them again, terrible customer service. I plan on disputing the charge.
Tip for consumers:
If it says it didn't go through in any way, maybe wait a day.

I had to cancel my trip due to the wildfires. Priceline refused to refund my card without charging $200. It's very sad that they want to profit off of a natural disaster. Expedia and rental house refunded with no issues.

Bid on a 4 star and I read the reviews that were horrible -- dirty, small, hear through walls, scary hall way, no hot water. I called Priceline and they could not help. Am Ex allows me to dispute charge but I will probably get the short end of the stick unless I decide to take legal action. I will never use priceline again!
I have cancelled multiple hotel rooms with Hotels.com and no problems. Southwest Airlines gave me a credit towards future flights. Well Priceline says no to refunds despite a shelter in place in the city we were to travel to and all parks, restaurants, and businesses closed. That's right they keep your money despite a global pandemic. I was actually asked "why would you want to cancel the rental car?"
I called PL because after my outgoing flight to Orlando was cancelled by the airline (Alaska), the rental period for my car was lessened by one day. I was able to fly out the next day and picked up the car a day late. The fair thing to do would have been to check my Dollar reservation to verify the truth of my story, then refund one day of the rental period... amounting, no doubt, to less than $100. PL refused, saying only that it was a non-refundable contract. They even acknowledged that the circumstances were completely outside of my control. This is the epitome of zero integrity. (* I should add that even when the first PL phone rep said she was going to refund my entire bill, I said no, that won't be necessary, since I picked up the car a day later. And I only drove for one less day than contracted!) My next phone contact with a supervisor ended in humiliation and defeat. May your zero integrity ultimately result in zero customers. That would be fair!
Tip for consumers:
If you think you are going to be treated fairly, think again.
Booked me in a poor quality hotel under renovation, bugs in room, no internet, poor tv quality, broken chairs, unfriendly staff and to top it off priceline overcharged me $30 a night over the hotels rate. Had to leave hotel after 5 days and spend the last 5 days of my trip somewhere else. Don't use priceline, they will not refund your money and overcharge you! They should be closed down by the government and sued by consumers for false advertising and price gouging!
I made a reservation for Ramada Encore Kiev based on the location shown on the website. It is the wrong location -- 15 km away from where the hotel actually is. When I discovered this and called 2 days before my trip, I was told they had to check with the hotel. I stayed somewhere else, needed to be in the center of town. After I got back, I tried to get reimbursement. They refuse and insist that their research team reviewed this issue and gave a final decision. Terrible customer treatment!
I had reservations for two rooms, and the rooms were supposed to be of different types, and so charged with different prices, but got two rooms of same type, and tried to rectify the situation, but both person and chat priceline agents were useless, only suggesting me to check with the hotel, but hotel says they only see the numbers priceline shows. What a scam at priceline's end... and i am supposed to be VIP member, VIP to get treated this way...
We recently booked a trip to Hawaii through this Agency. Everything went through as expected. Just today 6-14-21, we received an email notice from Priceline stating that our flight schedule has been changed without our consent. The hours we selected, seat numbers, and flight time all were changed WITHOUT notice. Tried to contact them but not successful. This is absolutely unacceptable. Terrible customer service. Strongly not recommend to anyone.
Unhappy customer.
Do not EVER book with Priceline.com we booked a round trip flight and hotel through them June 25th of this year and when we arrived at our hotel we found out from our lyft driver that it burnt down over a month ago. Priceline line reps are giving us the run around about getting us another place to stay that is comparable. Comparable? To a burnt down building? Really? Then they come back saying they found one for us 20 miles away. Still trying waiting on them to find us a place to stay currently while we stand in a parking lot across the street. Could priceline not have told us 2 months before our trip that the hotel burnt down?
Everytime I speak with folks from India or non American staff they always seem to sound high and don't listen to the information given. The last told me to check my flight status online and call back if anything changes when the whole phone call was about my flight being cancelled. I basically had to walk the guy through on how to do his job "customer service". FFS
I am a VIP member and used Priceline for many bookings, but God Forbid, you actually need customer service or a manager to handle something! You are lucky they pick up the phone, they are answering from a 3rd world country and just repeat the same thing over and over! I am deleting my account and will never book anything with them again! My flight time changed and I can not fly on those dates now and they refuse to refund me the return flight cost! $275 down the drain!
They don't reveal hidden charges like on car rental, we had to pay and additional $107 in fees for just a 4 day rental. They also have no concern or care for issues you may have using the hotels they recommend. Poor customer service!
Tip for consumers:
The total price might not be what it really turns out to be as there are extra's you have to pay that they don't disclose

care rental, airflight and hotel. Hotel was only used for one night due to a crime committed on property. This is where I had the problem with Priceline,
Worst customer service ever. I used the name your own price and got a hotel in a lower level than what I asked (based on THEIR guide). 40 minute call with rude "customer service" people just made it worst. If you use it, be advised that you will likely get a hotel that is not as good as advertised.
I have ground transportation in my package but long story short when I contacted the ground transportation company theres no reservation for me and priceline is not fixing this issue after being paid fully.
Booked a car through Priceline. The event was cancelled, my trip is cancelled. It is March 24. When I call there is a recording that they are taking care of customers who have rentals in the next 72 hours. I figure by the time I'm actually able to talk with a live person it will be too late to do anything and I lose the $217.04. I get that they have a policy of no refunds but this virus is an international crisis and provisions should be made to help their customers. My guess if Priceline will lose a lot of business over this. They certainly lost mine.
I give zero stars. This company is of NO help or assistance. I booked a flight then found out I have a health issue that will not allow me to fly. I did not even need a refund. I just asked to change the ticket to my son's name so the ticket can be used and no refund needed. This was requested to ensure that my son's seat will be with my husband's. Nobody with this company speaks English well enough to communicate with people who live in America and speak English. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. I have spoken to United Airlines and been told that one Priceline purchases the discounted tickets, they immediately change the policy on refunds and name changes. Do NOT use Priceline.
Traveling to Miami for one night, requested a room in the "Downtown Area", the room we received was on the very outskirts, it was at the Miami Airport. Priceline reserved and paid for a King room, without asking my preference for beds. Now one of us will be sleeping on a sofa bed. Neither the priceline or the hotel would make any effort to correct the problem. Not worth the $40 that we saved. Obviously the hotel doesn't care about customer assistance either. So I won't be staying at Springhill Suites by Marriott Miami Airport /Medical Center again.
Not a great start to our cruise vacation.
Here is why using Priceline can cost you $$. I used the site recently for an Express Deal in San Juan. Buried in the fine print apparently it states there could be additional mandatory hotel fees. So if there are two hotels - $150 for one and $200 for the other - there is no way to determine which one will actually cost more - because the fees could be dramatically different. In the end - Priceline is NOT telling you what your final cost will be - meanwhile other hotel websites like Hotels.com and Expedia.com include those mandatory fees in the final price before purchase. It turns out a 2016 lawsuit Singer Vs Priceline ruled on this exact situation in Priceline's favor. Sad. Stick it to the consumer.
I had reserved on priceline.com then needed to change my reservation because of a death in the family. I spent five hours on the phone on hold - then passed back and forth from priceline's call center folks to Korean Airlines agents to try and get my flight changed without major expenses incurred. I appealed to these organizations to make the change without changing the price of our return tickets from the US to Thailand. Instead, we were charged $550 for each ticket. Seems bereavement is not a reason to serve the customer in this practical way.
Priceline's automated answering service would not put me in contact with a person. I had to go through the online chat three different times in order to be connected with a representative. I talked to about 6 different Priceline employees, two of which claimed to be 'supervisors.' No one offered concrete solutions to my trip cancellation problem. They charged me $600 without providing any refund, credit, or even reinstating my ticket. I will not be purchasing from Priceline again and I will adamantly advise my friends and family to stay away from Priceline services.
