After struggling to find an electrician to service my inground pool heat pump I was thrilled when I found Priority Electic in New Britain, CT. When I called to make my appointment I was asked to give my credit card information before I could get an appointment. I was fine with this even though it seemed somewhat strange to me. After reading my review you may wonder, as I did, if they had trouble getting payments before they started this policy due to overcharging their unassuming customers.

The problem at my house was a disconnect/power switch being in the off position. The service man was here about 10 minutes and my pump was working after he left so I was thinking my bill wouldn't very high. WRONG! You can imagine my surprise when i opened an ebill recipt in the amount of $225, marked paid.

When I called to ask about it I was told that is their standard service charge to come out to my house. They said they tell everyone the charge up front, but that is clearly something I would have remembered if I had been told. I understand a company can choose to charge whatever they want and I wasn't forced to use them, but I was NOT informed about the service fee and feel a reputable company should offer some time of modification in this fee for a case such as mine, requiring so little time and effort to fix.

It is disappointing to me that Priority Electic would feel it was justified in charging a customer such an outrageous amount of money when the fix was so simple and quick. Also, Priority Electric is only12 minutes away from my house so it's not as if they spent a long time getting to my house and/or paying for gas. I had planned to use them for all my electrical problems hoping to be a loyal and happy customer. However, I would buy a brand new heat pump before I EVER call them to maintain it or do any other work in my house.

I don't know how they can feel good about such an obvious rip off. Save your money and find an honest and ethical professional.
