DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
I placed a $250 order with Provident on April 10 (nearly 2 months ago). The shipping label was created and the order never went any further. Weeks after I placed the order, Provident wanted me to call the Postmaster General to report theft, sign and scan a letter certifying that I never received the order, and that they'd send it to their "claims department". Multiple calls and emails later, they always reply with they'll follow up with their "insurance company" and that they will get back in touch with me. I never receive a follow up, I have not been offered a replacement of my order, not a refund... despite the fact I have requested numerous times. I have placed several orders with this company in the past, but thank God this was not one of my high purchase orders. I have since placed all my orders through Apmex and SD Bullion. They have outstanding customer service, their customer service reps aren't cold on the phone as I have experienced when speaking with Provident customer service, and 2 months later I have yet to receive a follow up phone call providing me an update on my missing metals. Save yourself the headache and the chance of this happening to you. This company is despicable in the way they handle their customers. I will be reporting them to the BBB, despite the upstanding reviews others may have left. If you want to gamble with your metals and your money, order from Provident Metals. Otherwise, stick with a reputable dealer.
Looking for gold, silver or copper bullion? This place has everything! Customer service (if you need it) is fast and their pricing is great.
I have made 14 purchases from Provident Metals since 9/25/13. I've purchased silver bars of different sizes and a few coins. I have never had a problem with the quality of the silver or the shipping time. By paying with a personal check, I've gotten the best price and Provident will ship free if I buy one of the items that qualify for free shipping. The savings on the shipping is well worth the items I've bought. As for the shipping time -- they clearly state it takes up to 3-4 weeks for processing an order paid for by personal check and I am not in such a big rush to receive my silver. Most of the time I've received my orders in advance of their shipping policies and they also update the status of my orders on my personal account page. As I see it, no matter from whom you purchase, there may be issues from time to time --that's life. I've purchased silver from other companies and had issues with them but things were eventually worked out. Provident, thus far, has been excellent and I will continue to buy from them. When I see people complain about the shipping time I wonder why they are so fussy about "getting their order" RIGHT AWAY. If you're going to behave like an amateur, my advice is to find some place where you can physically go, pay them, and get your order on the spot. Otherwise, when you purchase anything that has to be processed and shipped, etc... have patience... or stop buying altogether. Peace. :)
Purchased 90% Silver coins. While not as pretty as the newly minted coins they are rich in history. Shipping was fast and secure. Definitely worth passing on to the next generation.
I chose them based on reviews but have had a lot of issues. I made around eight orders over the last year and had a problem on half the orders with very poor quality coins or damaged cases on items like coin proof sets. I also got 10oz silver bars that were supposed to be individually sealed where half of the packs were broken open. After requesting replacements for very poor quality coins or damaged items on my last order time they refused to replace a 1962 mint set that is severely tarnished (it should have never been sold at the full price of what a good quality set would cost with what I received being of such low quality) and they told me they will no longer replace ANY damaged items I receive from them in the future.
Obviously I told them how disappointed I was with them considering they are the ones who choose the products and package them for shipping. They do not use sufficient, and by that I mean hardly any, packing material to protect the products during shipping. If you are shipping a silver or gold bar that won't matter much but when shipping coins sets in plastic cases it matters a lot.
A good retailer who had sent broken and poor quality items to a customer so often should apologize for these issues and make assurances that it is not normal instead of telling that customer they will no longer fulfill the return policy they have purported to me so many times as their policy of replacing any damaged items.
Do not buy from these guys.
This was my first time buying silver, I spent a little over 900$, The next day I looked at my bank account and I was charged twice I didn't contact them yet but definitely wouldn't recommend
Never had a problem with the quality of items purchased. The prices are fair. Love the selections. Love them.
Provident metal gold scam
1. False market loss charge
2. False market loss admin charge
3. No actual market loss
4. They wait until market drops then request the market loss charges
Placed many orders, never an issue. Best prices I've found online and if you order more than $99 your order ships free.
Answer: I heard the same thing. I would not buy from Provident Metals, especially when there are real companies out like APMEX and JM Bullion.
Answer: Not often because Provident Metals has terrible management that don't know how to keep things in stock.
Answer: Ive heard this from so many people at coin shows. Typical for Provident Metals. The management at Provident Metals seem to only care about themselves. They do not value their customers one bit. In this day and age you need to be treating your customers like gold. They definitely don't seem to understand that we can just go straight to a competitor. Provident Metals seems to only cares about what goes in their pockets.
Answer: No, because they have a lot to hide. I would RUN in the opposite direction.
Answer: So true. I've heard this from a lot of people. They keep all the good ones for themselves.
Answer: They sent me several worn-out/slick/wafer-thin US silver quarter-Dollars under the heading of "average circulated" condition. One of the coins was also riddled with "BB" indentations. I photographed the coins and emailed it to Provident; I was subsequently instructed to repackage the affected coins (at my expense) and send them back for replacement. At this point, only time will tell if Provident follows-through with their agreement to exchange the worn-out coins.
