I see in previous reviews people complained of late deliveries and rotten food. I have NEVER had a problem with that. Deliveries are always on time, produce is extremely fresh and shipments are complete. I was never missing an ingredient. Also, my experience with customer service was very positive. They are friendly and helpful. It's very easy to suspend a delivery or cancel on the website. Most of the food I like. I have tried many dishes and there was only one I hated. Most are tasty and filling.
I have tried two different frozen meals found in Publix. The second is pictured here. I followed all directions, and each time I ended up with tasteless Mush. The vegetables were barely recognizable, and those that were were either awful or tasteless. There will not be a third attempt.
No customer service on weekends. They lose your boxes and don't provide pictures of delivery. The food is not worth the hassle. 0 stars.
I am honestly shocked at how poor the customer service is at Purple Carrot. I expected more from a company that seems to market itself as a higher quality line in food delivery. The food was good - that deserves a star but I can get food elsewhere and be appreciated and taken care of as a customer.

Meal delivery
This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I have been vegan for 20 years, so I have tried a lot of vegan meals. I had high hopes when I started their pre-made meal delivery service. The meals were so bad, I couldn't even choke them down. I tried canceling my subscription, but I just get error messages. I paused my membership, but they continued to charge me. You can't skip a shipment unless you do it like two or three weeks before, because "it takes time for them to print the shipping label." Now I just received a box, and I threw it right in the trash. I tried again to cancel my membership, but I just get error messages. I have contacted the company, and they won't help me. They can't even stop the box that is set to go out over a week from now. They could stop it if they want to. They are leaving me totally strapped at Christmas time, since they are stealing money from me. Really nice. I only gave them one star because giving them zero stars was not an option.
I got a Christmas Gift to my newly vegan sister and niece. A one-time gift for $55 to get them started. Then they continued to take money from my account. You can't cancel anytime, because they are predicting 1-2 weeks out. By the time I caught the error they had royally $#*!ed my account. They took a "gift" one time purchase and made it a subscription without my knowledge or consent. Then customer service evaded my questions, there was nobody. I got robo letters. Unhelpful ones. I am tech savvy and it took another 2 hours to cancel only to find out they are cancelling from today on the 29th.
Thieves. My sister and niece liked the meals. It's an expensive damn present considering I live on a limited budget. Never again. Not recommending. Don't do it. Not worth it. It's like letting a stranger play with your bank account and they can't be trusted.
They f#$%ing gave away my Thanksgiving Box because they made an accounting error and charged me $120 instead of $75 so they just canceled my order. They said sorry for the inconvenience! Really! So we have no food and I had to cancel the family gathering because we are vegan and have no other options!

don't bother - they don't care

I'm not sure who they hire for their customer service representatives but this is the worst service I've received, even past the cable company (we all know how terrible they are). I had an issue with the box not being canceled, my account being charged and they refused a refund. The woman I spoke with was condescending and wouldn't let me get a word out. Refused a supervisor and ended up hanging up on me. I called back and got an equally rude and unpleasant, unprofessional woman. Im assuming they don't get paid enough and hate their job, them being so rude to their customers. The only reason I'm giving one star, is because I have to select at least one.
Tip for consumers:
It would have been helpful to know, to just not order through them.
I ordered this product, just wanting to try it out, and being assured that you could cancel anytime, I felt that I could see what it was like. After receiving a big box that I couldn't lift, and bringing all the food in to the kitchen separately, preparing the meal, ( needing oven, stove top, and my own olive oil) 30 minutes later it was done, but I was exhausted. I tried to cancel the next day, and was told that I couldn't cancel my next order, which was a whole week out. This is an expense I didn't count on, and didn't want. Be careful, because you're in for 2 orders, not the easy canceling policy I thought it would be.
Tip for consumers:
Cancellation is not immediate. You're buying 2 orders, when you place your first order. They will not allow cancellation of the next order, even though you didn't place that order. It's coming anyway, and you're paying for it.

Absolutely would not recommend to anyone. Their recipes are not actually healthy, they send you about $10 worth of produce, and it comes in the absolute WORST environmentally friendly packaging possible. They do NOT email you in advance when your order is coming up (I travel for work a lot, so I have to remember to log in frequently to opt out), however they will email you when the order shipped. You could literally spend 5 minutes in a grocery store to pick up the items they send, cook the healthier and be happier with life. Oh, and not have to deal with POUNDS of toxic packaging meant to keep the $10 worth of produce cold.
The premade food was so-so in my opinion but the pre- portioned food to be cooked by me IS EXCELLENT! I absolutely love it. I have been using for approx 1 month. I tried 3 other delivery services prior and had late deliveries, wrong deliveries- no issues w/ purple carrot! I have NEVER followed a recipe before in my life. Here is a photo of last nights fettuccine w/ artichoke hearts.

Finding vegan meals is difficult this is so easy! And fun!

Meals to cook on a weekly basis- you can select the quantity, frequency, and which meals plus any add ons you want.
What can I say about a vegan meal service where the vegetables arrive rotten. The greens (arugula, spinach, etc) arrived wet and slimy- beyond salvaging. The eggplant soft, bruised,
Brown inside and unusable. The avocado rotten on the inside and a little furry on the outside. When we tried to cancel the next shipment we were told even though it hadn't shipped we couldn't stop the order. When we informed them of our complaints were offered a $20 discount on the next order, not the one that hadn't shipped yet and we attempted to cancel, but couldn't the one after that. So we cancelled the subscription.
What can we say about a vegan meal plan where you can't eat the vegetables? Don't waste your money. Rotten food and poor customer service. PS we did send photos to them which was why we got the $20 offer, here is a pic of arugula. At least that is what the label says
The g.
I used purple carrot for a couple years off and on, mostly because I lived in a rural area with grocery stores that lacked much choice in vegan foods. I would get some ingredients in the box that had gone bad about every other time, I would have missing ingredients in the box about 1 or 2 times a month, and missing whole meals I had purchased from the box about once a month in the last few months. Not a good value at all, plus having to contact customer service each time was a hassle. I moved recently and chatted with customer service about getting a box at my new address, they said it was all set in my account, but then I saw the box was being sent to my old address where no one lives, I tried to have them redirect since it was still 7 days before delivery, but no, that was beyond their capability as a business who delivers food. So now there will be a box of rotten food at an empty house, what a waste of my money and food! They obviously don't value customers or the food they deliver.

I have never bought food that you MUST use a microwave, It was disheartening to see after I bought the 2 meals home that I HAVE to use a microwave to cook the meals. I no longer own a microwave. I wasted my money.
I had a gift card so I figured I would only be paying around $25 (out of pocket) for about 6 ready to eat meals for my work lunches. I also figured that I would be able to freeze them. No where on the site does it say you can't freeze the ready made meals, but when they came it says so on the packaging. I put them in the freezer anyways. They were dated to eat 6 days after I received them. Next issue, I put in my order, then 2 days later received an email saying they needed to substitute one of the meals. I was able to go in and change that out for something else, not too big of a deal. But then a few days later, I get an email saying they are cancelling the entire order for some reason and gave me a $13 credit for my trouble. But now it's too late to order for the following week, so I put in an order for the next available week. It goes through. Shipping link in email didn't work. On the Tuesday after Labor Day I remember to go in to account to check shipping info to discover that the package had just been delivered. Come home to find that one of the prepackaged meal trays was cracked and leaked into the inside packaging and onto the other meals. This was clearly from PC's end, not the shippers fault as outside of box was fine. Got a quick response from PC (within a day) apologizing and giving me a $13 credit. I won't use it. It's too expensive. I haven't even tried the meals yet. The fact that you can't leave any feedback on their website is troubling, and the website itself is clunky to use when looking for nutrition info and comparing meals.
Tip for consumers:
It's advertised as free shipping, but the cost is just added onto your overpriced meals. They don't refund or replace meals. They offer a credit, which is only useful if you plan on continuing the service.
My order was cancelled without notification, leaving me in a real bind. When I checked to see what day the order would ship, I found the order had been cancelled. They evidently oversold.
I've been a purple carrot customer for about 6 weeks. First i tried the premade meals. Most of which were excellent. Some of them, like "chills verde" wasn't my favorite and went in the trash…but you gotta try stuff to see if you like it. Mostly, I liked a good amount of the premade meals.
The problem with the premade food is, it NEVER changes. There is no variety. The meals are always the same. I got sick of the same food after 3 deliveries.
So! I decided to try the meal prep kits bc I got a free box to send to a friend. I sent it to my son who lives with me, to see if it'd be something he'd eat.
Meal kits are EXCELLENT. I didn't think I'd like most of the meals bc they have mushrooms or onions or red peppers or kale. BUT! I just omit that stuff and the meals are still really good. The other great thing is the meals for 2 people are HUGE! Like, enough for 4 ppl. If you add Tofu or rice to some of them, it's even MORE food. I totally feel like I'm getting my money's worth. The meals take about 20 minutes max to make. I just prepare a few of them 2-3 days ahead so I have food for all week. The Ingredients are great, fresh, yummy. I wish you could just order their meals premade but….
I now do a mix of premade and meal kits. I've lost 15 pounds since I went vegan and I feel great. I'm a total forever fan of PC!
Tip for consumers:
Don’t forget to choose your meals a few days before your skip date or they’ll send you their choices. You won’t like that I promise!

I placed an order and waited. On delivery day I was notified my order had arrived. Nope, nothing had arrived. I contacted them about the lost shipent and they accused me of trying to scam them. Said I sent the order to another address which was not my home address. Said it was totally my fault my order did not arrive. They admitted at one point that they get frequent complaints about this issue. They granted me a "one time courtesy credit" to my account but not a refund. Then they told me my next order would be shipped to the same wrong address but I did not take responsibility to correct "my mistake". And they would not provide any credit or refund. I never approved a second order. And it was still a week until that supposed "order" would ship. I emailed to explore a supervisor about the issue. The response was the same BS about my not being competent enough to enter my own address in the order. And they would take no responsibility for "my mistakes". I locked my credit card to prevent them from making any additional charges against my account. I will be taking this up with my credit card company. This organization is a total SCAM. BEWARE!
Tip for consumers:
Do not order from this business under any circumstances. They lie, twist the facts, claim any issues are due to your negligence. They will not provide a refund and they make authorized charges on your credit card. Their customer service is the absolute worst I have experienced with any company. I will take all legal measure to get my money back. Just don't take the chance, don't order from them.

I've tried 3 meal plan services. I'm vegan so really wanted to love Purple Carrot and thought for sure this would be my favorite. Instead, it not only turned out to be my least favorite, but I've also vowed to never do business with them again. The meals are good (Green Chef is better though) but the ingredients are not organic & contain unnecessary preservatives. I have a sensitivity to pesticides so for that reason decided to cancel. I could have made do with the poor preparation instructions. Their FAQ's gave an email address. I emailed the company asking to cancel. A month later I receive an email that a box had just been delivered. I had a million things going on with it being Thanksgiving week and a fridge filled with holiday items. So this box being delivered was a huge inconvenience. I called purple carrot and was told I had a promotional $25 credit that could be applied to this box (Um, if I already had the credit why hadn't it been applied already?) & that was all they will do. "Oh and by the way, there is another box being delivered next week." They refused to stop shipment on the next box & refused to give me any sort of discount even though I didn't plan to cook this week. They admitted during the call that they realized that their cancellation system had not been working properly so a week ago had changed to a new method. So even though I did my part by emailing them a full month ago I was still stuck. Had they worked with me I would have considered their service if it went organic in the future but now I will never do business with them again.
I did not order it. I did not choose the meals. I did not determine delivery date. I am not a vegan. But somehow the box arrived and now I cannot reason with them to give me a credit.
Buyer beware! Predatory company with awful customer service. They are unreasonable and unwilling to work with their customers.
My order was su[pposed to be delievered yesterday, no info, no tracking, got tracking info today. I emailed them, n o one emailed back, still no order, poor customer service, I will be canceling.
$70 for a box of produce? Gtfo. They stole my money after cancellation and are refusing a refund. AVOID
Tip for consumers:
AVOID
Most if not all of the produce is spoiled by the time it arrives. Do not recommend purchasing. Photo is of asparagus that arrived TODAY... gross!
My overall issue is with the cancelation. Namely I canceled, they told me the last day I would receive a meal (September 15th) and then they sent another meal on September 22nd. I did not order the September 22nd meal. They refused to refund me, even though I did not order the meal they sent. I have an email which they did acknowledge and the email clearly states the last meal will be September 15th.
This was my cancelation confirmation email:
Hi Amanda,
We're confirming that your subscription to Purple Carrot has been cancelled.
We're sad to see you go, and hope to have you back again in the future.
You have one more order scheduled, which will arrive on Wednesday, September 15th.
You can resume your subscription at any time by logging into your account. In the meantime, we'll keep you up to date with our latest news so you always know what's cooking.
Thank you,
Your Purple Carrot Team
As for the actual meals-expect to get bruised fruit. The first time I reported it, they credited my account. However, it kept happening so much that I honestly thought they would think I was making it up because IT HAPPENED SO MUCH!
Tip for consumers:
Use another meal delivery company. You cannot trust this one.

Do not order. Poor cancellation process. I cancelled the subscription but I was still charged for the meals
I was scheduled for a total knee replacement on Dec. 7th. My kids purchased me a Purple Carrot Prepared Meal program in mid November, to begin on Dec. 7th. But PC decided to start it on Nov. 30th! I figured out how to "skip" the November 30th delivery (not clearly explained, but I figured it out...), meaning Dec. 7th would be the first delivery. Got home from the hospital post surgery, no food. Then I received an email stating that it would be delivered the following day, by 9 PM. Nope. The next day, I got an email stating it was "lost", or "destroyed"; and my next batch of meals would arrive on Dec. 15th. Fast forward to the 15th - I hobbled out to look for my box - no food. Got an email saying, "Your Purple Carrot box, scheduled to arrive this week, was damaged in transit. Unfortunately we won't be able to deliver it.". But a check of the tracking info showed it still on target for delivery... today!
And, lo and behold, a box DID arrive today. The gel packs were total liquid, the entrees were warm to the to touch, and it was the FOOD I HAD ORDERED TWO WEEKS AGO, not the food for the current week! 4 of the entrees expire in two days, and two are "good" for 3 days. Which is irrelevant, because I am not going to consume warm prepared food that might have been in transit for two and a half weeks.
As others have experienced, my son, who made the original purchase of several hundred dollars, has had no luck getting a refund, but he "thinks" he has a week of "credit". Awesome.
Absolute insanity. As a health and wellness professional, I am going to share my story far and wide - this in NOT acceptable, and could actually cause someone harm. Stay away. Stay far away.
