I rented a car paid in full using my debit card online. Refused car at Trieste airport no one to help me. I was advised that the Local provider don't accept debit cards from Rental car.com customers. My card was fine to pay full amount on line but no use to cover any access claim. I was locked into a deal that was shaped in my opinion to lose my total cost over 200 euro. No customer service don't use them they are usless
We booked this car to pick up at Gold Coast airport. Our confirmation email said it was to be collected from the airport. One of our group has a disability so this was important. Not only did it take 45 minutes to get to the OFFSITE collection site there was no car for us. There were no cars at all for a lot of people waiting. They would not refund our costs and were not able to provide us a car and they had no contact number to call Rentalcars.com as they were a 3rd party. The pick up company EastCoast said to catch the bus to them but didn't say it was a bus with a different name. Such a joke They were absolutely useless. My advice is to book with a local Australian company like Avis, Hertz etc. We thought maybe it was a joke but sadly this is just a scam business. I'm yet to receive my refund despite many requests. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AT ALL!
I booked a car and advised them my plane delayed overnight and also at their suggestion contacted Budget and was also advised no issue with collection a day later. On arrival Budget would not honour my voucher and I had to hire another car stating U could claim a refund from Rentalcar. On return home Rentalcar have refused to refund me my original hire costs. Despite ne producing evidence of tge cost incurred to hire another car.
I shop for deals when I'm traveling just like you. I found that rentalcars.com had a competitive price for a 6 day rental for my family vacation. DO NOT BE FOOLED. You'll get your voucher and take it to the desk of the rental car agency they partner with. My rental TRIPLED in cost. They suck you in, get your money and get you to the front desk where the real charges start. So what I'm telling you is that you pay for a rental car thru Rentalcars.com and then the company they pick for you charges more fees for the same rental again. I paid over $1100.00 for a 6 day car rental...and it wasn't even that nice of a car... I mean what service did rentalcars.com perform for me?
My impression is that rentalcars.com got their commission and after that does not want to help their customers or be their agent when things go bad so now I'm forced to take it up with an agency I would have never hired had it not been for rentalcars.com.
When I contacted rentalcars.com they told me the "agency desk" was not answering and they would email me back. Nope - never heard from them. Had to go thru it all again. I booked and payed for a car for my vacation in Palma de Mallorca with my children. When we arrived no one was there, no car, nothing.
After searching around the whole airport I find out that I should contact another company. One of the workers told me that I have to pay additional 1100 euros to get a car as a deposition. That was not acceptable. When I booked the car prior my arrival to Mallorca it says "no additional costs" so it was a quite surprise to me. So I didn't get a car and rentalcars didn't want to send me my money back. The excuse was I should have called them right away which was impossible since they were in another country and not in Mallorca. I find it very rude to take my money without giving me the service and refusing to pay back. They asked for huge amount of money (1100euros) afer I payed already for the car. So for me it was just rip off. These guys are scamers. Stay Away!
Buyer beware! If your flight is extra late(which isn't uncommon these days) your reservation will be canceled and they won't give your money back! Neither Rentalcars.com or Sixt, the company who Rentalcars.com contracted us with.
Then when you get to airport they charge you again only twice as much! They say you should have contacted them before hand.

I made a reservation for SUV, pre-paid for the car and on arrival to another country airport, they gave me MULTIVAN. So, I paid additional money, that they could give me SUV (despite the fact that I made a order for SUV a month ago). After all, the company do not care that I specifically chose the SUV, so they didn't bother to solve the problem and told me that SUV is the same as MULTIVAN and they do not have SUV I ordered. Moreover, when I came to the parking lot there was even two SUV's of the type which was ordered. To be precise, the SUV I made order for was Skoda Kodiaq and a MINIVAN was NISSAN SERENA. Am I stupid or what? I tried to understand the company and to agree on compensation with them.
But after all, I do not trust this company anymore, they are cheating with the orders and cannot arrange cars which was ordered a month before pickup.
We booked a prepaid car to be delivered at ISTABUL Airport. When there the car agent wanted a guarantee 10 times higher than what was written in the contrcat and he refused to deliver the car. We claimed with RENTALCARS who did nnot answered for one week. When they finally answered they wrote they could not take into consideration our Claim until the period of car renting would have ended (one mont).

Never have I ever been told that I had to give 48 hours notice to cancel a reservation or I get nothing back! That was not stated ANYWHERE when I rented a car through them. My plane was late, I didn't make it to the counter at exactly 12, and these criminals canceled my reservation and gave me ZERO refund! $300! I'm taking the bank dispute route, because this should have been in BOLD WRITING WHEN I MADE THE RESERVATION. Horrible. Deceitful. Criminal. Stay far away from this sham company!
I booked a car in Scotland, through Rentalcars with Full Protection Insurance. When I pick up the car, I paid 300 GBP as a deposit, and because I had 2 crack tires this deposit was not returned to me.
Because I have the Full Protection Insurance, I claim this deposit to be returned to me by Rentalcars on 31 March, and so far I didn“t get any response neither the return of the money. I tried to contact help center, and a very rude lady, Luisa Fernanda, told me this normally takes 28 working days to solve, which I consider not acceptable at all!
I want my deposit to be return to me as soon as possible, as crack tires are covered by the insurance and this is a very straightforward situation.

I had a temporary current license, so we continued on. She told me I would need to pay a $90 "early" fee. I asked her to consider the fact that I was only 26 minutes early. She replied with a statement about availability, which made sense, but we learned there were three cars available, one of which we took and used. She pushed the insurance on us, and would not accept an expired Gieco ID card. We used our app to show her our current ID card. She talked us into spending $13/day for toll pass, which we used twice the entire trip. Finally, she started to charge us $13/day for my wife to drive the car. When we questioned her, she replied, "Oh, I didn't know you were married. You have to tell me stuff like that. How am I supposed to know that your common last name doesn't mean you are brother and sister?" The whole experience was absolutely horrible. The agent was grumpy, pushy, and dishonest.
They offered rental for a location that was closed. Did not offer another rental and told me to wait for the "rental period" to expire to request a refund. Dishonest and worthless company.

The company directed us to a scam local provider (BT car rental in Sofia airport). When our deposit was detained for a month, they provided no actual help in retrieving it. After we've involved the credit card company, the local provider finally responded (a MONTH after!) and suddenly claimed unreasonable fees, which again the company have taken no care to cancel.
The cheap price is not worth the lack of service - you can book with the local provider directly just the same at your own risk.
Answer: Good luck with that one, I'm in the same boat, I'm going to pass my situation on to the travel doctor at the Sunday Times.
