“My First RockAuto experience”

I hesitated to purchase from here due to the many bad reviews, but I didn't need anything significant, so I pulled the trigger. The prices were too good to pass on. Glad to report I got exactly what I ordered and promptly. I placed my order Monday morning, and the site said it would be here Wednesday (two days later), which worked for me as I was out of town. To my surprise, it was delivered the very next morning. I just got home, and everything ordered was well packaged and correct. I just put the parts in my car, and everything fits as described. My first Rock Auto purchase was a success, so I will be getting my parts from here in the foreseeable future. If you're considering RA but are thrown off by the bad reviews, I suggest experiencing it yourself and forming your own opinion. I did, and I'm glad I did. I no longer have to overpay for car parts.

Imagine waiting 2 weeks for your part to arrive just for it to start leaking and leaving you stranded on the highway with $400 worth of tow fees to get back to the shop to replace the part you just replaced. So 3 weeks and $1100 later for something that should have been done in a day, and for $300. Thanks RockAuto! Terrible Chinese Products. Avoid as all costs and buy OEM. RockAuto products have ZERO quality control and will ship you broken parts.

I've spent thousands of dollars with rockauto.The part looked the exact way is was sent I literally seat on my countertop for the time I had it. The part was not put on or even matched up to the vehicle I was not needed I'm a VERY LOYAL CUSTOMER and you will not take back a part I returned late(DO TO THE CORONAVIRUS). The part is in the same condition which I received it. When I spoke to a very polite and helpful lady, I specifically told her why is was the way it was. And the exact location it's goes.

This part attaches to the crossmember or my 2006 Chevy Silverado in buffalo New York completely rusted away that part has to be welded on it does not sit in place. That part was literally delivered to my countertop along with a lotta my other purchases from rock auto. YOU WILL LOOSE A LOYAL CUSTOMER OVER A $46 PART I ACTUALLY RETURNED BACK TO ROCKAUTO IN THE SAME EXACT SHAPE WHICH I RECEIVED IT.
Sorry for any inconvenience this brings just think about me I'm not rich I buy broken cars trucks and fix them up. There are a few other cheap auto part dealers

The Rock Auto website lists a Bosch O2 sensor P/N *******, which crosses to a Porsche P/N 986 606 126 01, as fitting (among others), a 2001 Boxster. This is incorrect, it is applicable only to pre-2000 Boxsters sold in the US. This was verified both by Bosch and several Porsche dealers. I bought one from Rock Auto last year, but then found I didn't need it then, so I put it on the shelf (in its original sealed, unopened shipping box) for future use. Now I need one, and find out it's wrong. My packing lists clearly has 2001 PORSCHE BOXSTER 3.2L H6 printed on it. Rock Auto will do nothing for me, citing their 30 day return policy. Since it is their (ongoing) mistake, and since the part in hand is clearly resellable, I feel an honorable business would own up to it and make the customer whole, but no - no refund, even partial, no credit toward new purchases ( which I am ready to make). When I told the manager that he should correct the website, and he said he would check into it, but regardless of what he found out, his refusal to help me would stand.

I was. Was a Rock Auto customer for years, made many purchases over last 10 years. This last experience was the one to award Rock Auto with losing yet another customer. Ordered 2 smaller emissions parts. Both fit in approximately 5"x5" box. Paid extra for faster shipping as I needed. Both showed in 2 days in one box, sealed with rock auto tape, so no funny stuff done by shipper. 2 Ac Delco boxes packed, but one box was empty. How someone could pick up/ handle a box and not know understand that it's empty is mystery itself. Years ago you could call and get problem figured out. NOT ANYMORE. They almost proudly announce on the phone that they keep prices so low by eliminating customer service via the phone. Try telling a computer that a box was empty, or to send me another immediately, as I paid extra for shipping. The more I tried, the angrier I became. Even Amazon in their quest to overtake the world has human interaction when you need customer service. That old saying Grandpa always said "you get what you pay for" rings so true, especially with Rock Auto. They seemed to unfortunately decided to take the ultimate greedy road as the choice for how they run their business. Buyer Beware! As long as everything goes good, and your shipment is correct, you will be happy. I was. But when it goes bad, (and it seems it goes bad at the worst possible time) it gets real bad when you are led like cattle into a generated flowchart with general and nonsensical questions that they force you to answer. At the end, you actually got the feeling that they really couldn't care less about your problem. They just want to know if you want to return it, or get a refund. It's a very empty, frustrating feeling. But. It is all in the wonderful name of saving us all money!

Rock Auto just lost tons of customers, due to their unethical business practices and greed. They do not care about their customers and have "policies" to protect themselves from giving customers back their monies, when Rock Auto does not follow through on shipping items on time - and refusing to give any refunds on shipping. Rock Auto does not care when customers need an item in a timely manner and causes an inconvenience to customers. Rock Auto refuses to take responsibility when items are not delivered on the proposed date (when we paid for shipping) and Rock Auto never updated tracking information. Furthermore, Rock Auto will require you to pay for additional shipping to return an item they did not deliver on time (when we paid a specific amount of money to receive the item on an expected date) and then we no longer need the item - since Rock Auto forced us to search and purchase the item elsewhere. Rock Auto did not update the tracking information and we had no idea where the item was and when it would be delivered. When we voiced our complaint through an email, since Rock Auto are cowards and hides behind emails and refuses to provide a customer service telephone number….and their email response to our complaint- was basically expressing the fact that they did not care and it's too bad for us, because they don't "guarantee" anything on delivery dates and it's not their problem and they WILL NOT REFUND SHIPPING and we would be required to pay for additional shipping costs to return an unopened package. They have no sense of professionalism, ethics, or decency….Rock Auto is a company out for pure greed and only cares about themselves. Best believe, we will never purchase anything from Rock Auto
Again, we encourage everyone to purchase your auto parts from respectful and reputable companies - and that is not Rock Auto.

I warn: Do not buy from RockAuto. You are asking to get screwed over. You plug in your vehicle information and they give you a list of results that are supposed to be compatible with your vehicle but that's not the case. I simply ordered brake pads for my front rotors on a 2012 Grand Caravan and they send me brake pads that arent for my van, or any van at all! Paid 11+$ to ship, 10+$ for the pads and now, i have to pay to return ship them after pulling my pads off and finding out the hard way! They werent for my van at all! Half the size of the original pads, sent me ones small enough for a civic or metro!
Also, customer "service" IS SH*T!
They should honestly stop charging people to return the wrong items they send. They did not help me at all and they cost me valuable time and extra money. They are very unprofessional when dealing with returns on items that do not fit your vehicle at all when they are under specifications on their website. If you look up anything under a specific model, question if it will really fit, and ask yourself "do i have the time and money to pay for return of this item if sent weong part by company-fault?"
Ill say this! If they can't get brake pads right, they can't do anything else right.
Anything you order, question yourself if you have the time to explain to customer service why you shouldnt have to pay return shipping on an incompatible item they sent you.

DO NOT order anything that requires a core return. You end up paying and losing any money owed to U.

DO NOT BUY anything that requires a core return because it doesn't matter what you do, you are going to pay to return the item/s. I figured out after it was to late it would have been cheaper to go to Advance Auto parts, AutoZone, or O'Reilly. Well heck might as well mention NAPA too. Don't expect to talk to anyone in customer service because there isn't anyone there, which is really stupid, said it keeps the prices lower. My A** it does. Some of us like talking to people. God bless us America.

If i can rate this without star i will do it, i had horrible experience purchasing items from rockauto.com first is incorrect water pump housing. I Need to repair my old water pump housing because the item is a mismatch, the next item is the shock absorber, it didn't fit in my vehicle. The 3rd time is this radiator, i don't even know what kind of radiator is this. I've tried to contact rockauto.com via phone and email these guys never had a good answer. They want me to be liable to send the items back to them which is they are the one who's not doing their job and sending and selling all these incorrect items.
I already spent $200 of this useless radiator and they want me to sent it back? It means i need to spent $100 to sent back the items and claim $125.
In my case, I need to suffer out of their negligence? I need to suffer because they have the unprofessional employee?
I won't shopping and recommend this website anymore, they are doing scam. Making money from selling their OLD stock and USELESS items.

DO NOT BELEIVE ON "CUSTOMER LOBBY" REVIEW THAT IS NOT THE RIGHT REVIEW. THEY ONLY PUT THE STAR REVIEW, THEY ARE PAID SITE BY ROCKAUTO.COM.

I wish i have read these reviews before i purchase Stuff From RockAuto... Made a Big Mistake Do Not Buy i say it Again DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE COMPANY ROCKAUTO.COM They Should Go Out of Business.
I order for my Kia Sorento 2011 - Two Front >>> MONROE ******* Front Right and MONROE ******* Front Left. Looks Good on Pictures and description looks Great. Order went in i paid around $260 for both. Took them 3days to arrived. It was fast and i was impressed. I opened The box look at it my first impression oh there's a mistake i can tell before even i can open my Car Tire to look at if this match. It was wrong part and plus description on this box was matching the Monore ************** but part was different and no writing on the box plus on the part. How this possible. They sent me wrong part i tried looking at ph no CC Service no Email or talk to. So somehow i got how to returned this i did that i just asked for my money back then they want me to shipped them with discounted Fedex label well they made a mistake why should i pay for it but no answer so i had to do. I shipped them backed. I lost like 40$ out of $260 these people are crook and making money of it shipping. And sending you wrong parts. Cheap and plus really bad service who does business without Ph No and not customer Service. Really these Rockauto need to go out of business. Why we can't do something about these cooks. I upload three pictures of that part they sent me has two sway bar links mine has only one sway bar links so i knew they sent me wrong part...

they are crook do not buy them at all ...
you will end up loosing lot's of money for nothing in your hands ....
just go shop somewhere else where you see who has ph no and custom service .

Recent experience with Rock Auto and will never purchase again. Reviews are correct. Non-existent customer service or logical thinking. I ordered, and they charged me twice. First I was told the double charge was a hold on my credit card to just find out it was a double order they sent me with the exact same stuff I sent in my initial order. I reached out to get a resolution on the double charge, and the two delivers and they let me know I can return the items. WELL, one of the items could not be returned (due to the cost of it not being higher than their return on investment of shipping it back -this was fine, whatever). BUT then I get charged for shipping the items back, which they provided me with a shipping label? My refund was half of what I was charged and it WAS NOT EVEN MY FAULT. I tried again to resolve this issue, but instead I get a turnaround on their policy on returned items.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SCAMMING COMPANY. Their Return policy is not what it is layed out to me and their customer service matches that exact lack of consideration.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid it if you can. Not worth the hassle if you want to return something and think their 'refund' is full. You are responsible for shipping and the original shipping. Absolute no ownership on their own mistakes. ZERO customer service.

None, they sent me a double order and I tried to return the items to get a refund as their system double charged me but they weren't even capable of understanding that.

I've had my second fight with Rock Auto customer service and have
Deleted my account.

If you receive what you ordered and it arrived in usable condition
Such that you never have to communicate with Rock Auto customer service,
Then you will probably rate them highly as their prices are hard to beat
(except for their shipping charges on multiple items.)

If you need to return an item / deal with their customer service:
1. Prepare for a fight.
2. Any savings you thought you would realize by using Rock Auto will vanish.
You may even realize you'd have been better off buying from ANYONE else.
3. Do not be surprised if they insist you pay return shipping even
If they ship you something other than what you ordered
(Hard to believe ANYONE in business can survive with a policy like this.)

My last botched Rock Auto order:
Ordered a Denso fuel pump listed in their online catalog for my application.
Specifically avoided cheaper pumps, such as Walbro, based on
30 years personal experience.
Received a Walbro pump in a Denso box.
If I had wanted a Walbro pump I could have gotten one in
A Walbro box for $20 less than the Denso.
The failed pump I was replacing was, no surprise to me, Walbro.
Contacted Mario at Rock Auto.
Mario claimed that Denso informed him that this type of part substitution
Was common practice at Denso.
I contacted Denso America and Denso Japan and they tell me Mario lied.
Denso America referred me to their online catalog for proof:
Denso does not offer a fuel pump for my application.
I explained this to Mario who informed me I would be charged for return
Shipping anyway.
They refunded $57.42 of my $68.68 purchase price.
So, BUYER BEWARE:
If Rock Auto makes a mistake, the customer will pay for it,
Literally.

P.s. Wonder what would happen if you ordered a lug nut and
Rock Auto shipped an automatic transmission in error?
Their policy seems to indicate the customer would be responsible
For return shipping charges. One thing I know for certain:
Rock Auto would NOT ship you that lug nut until they received
Their transmission back.

Besides being unreachable, and not honoring their highest price priority shipping, they just don't give a $#*!.

Do not count on rock auto to do their job.

Products used:
Driveshaft ordered a week ago. Paid $70 for 2 day priority shipping. It still hasn't shown up and they will not refund the priority shipping. I had an appointment at my mechanic...embarrassing that I rely on people that just can't do their job.

They ship through piece of $#*! FedEx. It takes 4days to go 100 miles. Then you can't get ahold of rock Auto. To get refunded.

I purchased (4) Shock Absorber's and they arrived quickly. I installed the first 3 without any issue. Due to the Corrosion in the North East, I was forced to "CUT" the shocks off of my truck in the Front to facilitate the replacement. When I opened the Box for the 4th Shock, I noticed that "MONROE" mis-boxed the shock and I received a ******* instear of a ******* and they are completely incompatible for the application (Front vs Rear) (again, this was NOT ROCKAUTO's fault).

I went to call them and discovered that you had to do the return on-line without any Customer Service. The Descriptions said they would ship it out as soon as it entered the FEDEX System. I quickly boxed it up, labeled it and watched it put into the hands of a FEDEX EMPLOYEE. I then called their phone number and was treated with such disrespect, ZERO CARE for Customer Service and told that he was going to "TERMINATE THIS CALL".

I told him that I was forced to "CUT THE SHOCK OFF" and I can not safely drive the vehicle without a Shock and then I asked him how can I get the CORRECT SHOCK mailed out today as I have done everything asked of me and he again told me he was going to TERMINATE THE CALL...

LESSON LEARNED = If you get the Correct Parts (as I have numerous times before) it works well and you can save a lot of money. If you get the Wrong Part, you are at the Mercy of a Computer and you can hope and pray they send out the right part the 2nd time around.

The good. Have used rockauto several times. I have always received the parts on time or earlier and they were as expected, dirt cheap compared to locals and were the right part. Their site is easy to use and parts are very well described and many options are available.
The bad. This last shipment was a horror. Not all rockauto's fault. I order a water pump, a fan clutch, a ckt position sensor (verry cheap), and radiator hoses U/L. The fan clutch was in right box but part was wrong (stamp on part different) not RA's fault. The CKT was right and very well priced. The waterr pump heater tube was against the alternator hard and was not acceptable as it would work loose and leak. The lower heater hose had a bend that was too shallow and rested against the a/c condenser which would rub a hole in it. To their credit this hose was the same at all three major auto part stores with the exception of NAPA who had the right hose at twice the price. And RA gave me credit without returning the hose. Great. The water pump and clutch were returned with them giving me a "paid" shipping label which I consider a big plus to their credit. I will have to wait and see if I get credit for the returned parts but I am optimistic so far that it will happen.
The Ugly. Well, I paid extraditing shipping to get my ride back on the road and of course this shot that to hell I had to buy local parts to get it going which of course cost more though not that much more if you consider all of these problems. I would still definitely use RockAuto because despite these issues they made good up til now. The biggest black eye is they have absolutely no number to call or live chat to communicate with to get the ball rolling which is why I went local for the parts. Their only number is a corporate number which is a joke.

This was absolutely the worse online purchase I've ever made. The reason for this is not just that the 2 parts I ordered for my tundra were the wrong parts but that the return process was horrible and became. Nightmare in itself and a very expensive one.
To keep it simple I ordered a plastic bumper for a 2020 tundra along with a grill. When I entered my truck year, model, and trim it brought up the 2 parts and said guaranteed to fit. After receiving the parts when I went to install I realised very quickly they were the wrong parts as the grill was not fabricated to hold my T toyota acrylic badge on the front or the impact sensor that was to be housed behind it. The bumper cover which is basically the plastic part of the bumper on a newer tundra fit only in the clips if it was contorted and twisted and it was missing the vent grates on top leaving a big open view of the aluminum radiator. It was pure garbage that I paid exactly $454 dollars for including shipping which was $55 dollars of the out the door price. When I put in for a return on their ridiculous website they reluctantly approved my return and I figured out how to print the pre paid fedex labels off with instructions to drop the 2 boxes off at my local fedex office. The instructions also read that the price of shipping would come out of my refund which showed a refund of $384 so ok ill be out 70 dollars for their screw up but oh well. I sent the packages off at fedex and washed my hands of them and that entire situation I thought but this is where it gets really bad.
3 weeks later I received a bill from fedex for $1182 dollars. I thought it was some scam or a mistake but I called fedex directly to make sure and guess what? It was from my rockauto return! I emailed rockauto customer support and after a week received a response. They first Apologized and told me it was a mistake and not to worry about it. Then they emailed me days later and told me I failed to follow instructions on their return procedure. Wrong! I followed it to the letter and had already received a partial refund minus shipping charges. That combined with the garbage product they sent me id say this company has a profession of sending junk to people then screwing them on shipping costs to send it back to them with fedex. Shameful! Zero quality control or customer service. Its not wonder they don't have any numbers to call them and in reading many other reviews ots obvious they are trash. In one of the emails they explained to me they don't make returns feasible for customers so they can keep their prices low. Isn't that nice! So instead of charging appropriately they make themselves appear as if they hook up a good deal when all they really do is trick people into buying junk product and making it hard to return. Scumbags!
