I have been going through this for 3 or 4 weeks now. My phone has no data connection. They make you call in, they make you verify and go through a tech person that goes through the same steps over and over. Then they claim they'll transfer you to the next level. I tell them that if you transfer me to the next level it's going to disconnect. They claim it won't. They transfer me to the next level and disconnects. I've talked to 18 different tech operators at their company. I'm going round and round in circles. I have no data connection. I paid for this phone. They made us all pay for phones claiming they were doing a network upgrade. The phone doesn't work. Why do I have to keep a product that I paid for that doesn't work? Where am I to go from here; what do I do to get my phone to work that I paid for from them?
On 8/5/2024, I started working with them to get my sim card inserted and the phone activated. The sim card worked and the phone had the 4G and bars. For the next 3 days, they went over and over again with the same process even though it didn't work for the previous representative. I told them that and they started to get hostile with me. Melissa called me stupid, I said enough and finally contacted them back to cancel my application. I've never been called stupid before, and I didn't understand not allowing me to speak with technical support. The biggest frustration was not being understood. I ask a question, they would respond with something that made no sense to me. I would say that is not what I was asking you. I have such a headache now that I couldn't get phone service from them activated. When I called to cancel, I said you aren't going to ask me why I'm canceling a service that was never activated, never started? The representative let me know she didn't care at all. I have a phone number everyone and never got to use it. Really, if you want a headache and super frustration, contact SafeLink, I feel sorry for anyone and I mean anyone and everyone that has to deal with them. The Supervisor didn't care at all to try and help when I ask for help with them. I got some of the same treatment from Assurance Wireless when I reached out to them to have Benefit transferred. They hung up in my face and didn't understand me at all.
Spent nearly an hour and a half to no avail. Felt like I was stuck in an endless loop of useless nonsense from both SafeLink and my carrier of 3 years, "Lively" Representatives.
The inside of the shipping box says to call an 1- 866 number to activate the new phone. But that only shoots you over to your PRESENT phone company!
I'm not much of a drinker, but had to down a whole bottle of beer after having to endure trying to figure out what the hell to do with an unintelligible Central American phone Rep who REFUSED to even make any reply (or even a "grunt") when I kept asking her: "Are you there? Are you hearing me?" EXTREMELY POOR training of this otherwise pleasant--if not at all helpful- young lady.
Lively phone company FINALLY gave me some real help (after speaking to three different representatives) Got some clues on how to proceed in activating this new Safelink "Affordable Connection Program" phone. But
After glancing at the terrible reviews of SafeLink on this site, Im going to just TOSS this new phone out the window! It's either the phone or ME going down! And I value my life and sanity too much to buy a ticket for this CRAZY "Safe Link" boat ride!
I have been having a bad time with SafeLink not too long ago I asked for a new phone because mine's cracked real bad ain't getting no better a call May 19th they said I should have my phone June 7th did not receive phone I didn't receive no number tracking numbers call again they said I should have an email sent to me when the phone is sent out I did not even get that call today can't get no help my phone got sent to the wrong address and because I don't have no ticket numbers they can't help me so I'd really like to go to a different company that will help their customers
Had the service for a year…then it was off. I called they said each year you need to re apply and I needed to do that. The first associate said it would be 24 hrs. I called back the next day and the next associate said that info was wrong and it was going to take about 5-7 days. I asked to speak to a mgr and they hung up. I called back 4 times and was going up on each time. I was livid. How can you call yourself customer service when you're not serving the customer at all? Then I waited till the next day cus the website said I was approved. I called back and one person was a bit more helpful and the phone was back on……. For a day.! Then it was off. This happened for the next 4 days. They would turn it on and it would be off within 24 hrs. I asked to speak to a supervisor and again was hung up on. I had it at that point and I went to Walmart and bought an unlimited plan for $30 a month. F@$k that company!
Oh I called to cancel my account and they said they did it. But it' still on! This company is run by morons who are speaking phillipino or Indian or somethg but it's not English!

Called up to ask a simple question. When I got to the end, the woman on the phone sat and breathed heavily into the phone. I asked if she was there and she responded by continuing to huff into the phone like an old-time phone pervert or something. I asked if she was trying to be funny and why she was doing that, and she kept doing it. I told her I was going to hang up and call back if she didn't stop and she continued. I called back and asked to place a complaint. The woman told me she could do so once she pulled up my account. Once that was done and I asked again to place the complaint, she said she couldn't because "I don't know her." Don't know her? You're customer service at a telephone company, you have no records of who takes what calls? Preposterous. She then told me that she had to hang up on me because the call "wasn't business related." A complaint from a customer about being treated rudely by customer service isn't business related? Well, there you have it. Their customer service can talk to you any way they want and do anything they want because apparently nobody there "knows" anyone else, and records don't exist, and customer complaints aren't business related. I called back and had them shut my account down. Absolutely pathetic.
I encountered a bunch of rude nasty customer service agents at SafeLink who hung up on me several times I have it recorded but the files too big to upload. They lied to me on several occasions telling me a phone would come to me after they received it due to it being shipped to the wrong address. It was supposed to be reshipped to me on the 15th they kept telling me I had to wait 5 to 10 days for it and it would never show up then they kept telling me that they guaranteed it would come one day or another day and once again it would not be here. All the while they were talking to me with an attitude and disrespect to the last point the One customer service agent actually told me he was a supervisor oh yeah they all were supervisors he said to me that I can go buy a phone if I didn't want to wait five extra days after being told it would be here Monday and today's Tuesday. Then he says that they will call me back and ask me for a number that they can reach me back on just to turn around and say he didn't say that. And that was after I reminded him that he did. I let it go and said so should I call back in 5 days and he said that's what I said. I said why are you being so rude and sarcastic I said that's poor customer service would you talk to your boss like that. He tried to explain he was just giving me some information that if I didn't like waiting for 5 days I can go purchase one. And if you would have heard how he said it. And yes he ended up hanging up on me. And even called me the wrong name he called me Cindy while faking like he could not hear me repeating it a couple times before he hung up.

There were nothing but a bunch of disrespectful lying customer service agents that big bosses that work in the corporate business do not pay attention to. They disrespect and mistreat customers and they don't care . I told him that people in positions where they don't like other people should not work and that field. Then he called me the wrong name three times fake like he couldn't hear me I hung up on me after telling me he would not hang up on me in the beginning when I asked him not to.

This company really makes it hard to get approved. I would recommend if you desperately need a free cell phone... just focus on the object at hand.
I've got 15 plus hours in and numerous calls 5 weeks trying to get my phone to work 3-4 hours a day some days I'll get my data to work again or they do and then my phone will stop working a day or two later and then I'll call and put a bunch of hours on the phone with them again and the same steps over and over again and then they try to fix it for the day but then two days later it quits again been going on and on on for too long I know every question they're going to ask me and my SIM card in Miami and Miami card I know it All by heart because I've done it so many times and just never ends I bought a unlimited data card three or four weeks ago for 50 bucks just trying to get it to go cuz I was tired of messing with it and it was waste of money it didn't help anything and it didn't change anything and they won't fix nothing for more than a day or two no one seems to care I'm tired of spending all this time on this phone trying to get time back or my data back and my phone calls back it's just so I can have a normal phone good luck if you decide to go with these people I went with a free government phone and it's been nothing but torture misery and the most horrible time I've ever had good luck if you decide to go with these people good luck
I am literally having a breakdown because I'm having to deal with them AGAIN. The government PAYS them to supply this service, but they're scamming us and ripping us off! Once again, have to order another phone through them, as they will NOT let me use any of my other phones. So, pay $59 for a smart phone, wait and wait for it to arrive, arrives late, and FINALLY arrives. Go to set it up... which requires a call to... dun dun DUN..."customer service". It's never going to be painless, but to be told that my phone is NOT an AT&T phone, it will NOT work, and that I did not buy it from them? SERIOUSLY? So, in making complaints elsewhere, I end up needing another SIM kit (lost the card, no idea how), and beign told customer service is wrong. No kidding. Like they're ever RIGHT? Well, now I have to wait AGAIN. So, figure I'll configure the stupid thing. OMG, THIS THING IS SLOW---DANGEROUSLY SLOW! You have an emergency? Well, gonna have to wait until it decides it's going to work, etc. So, go to read reviews, and that same exact phone is being sold elsewhere, new, for HALF WHAT SAFELINK CHARGED! They are DEFRAUDING disabled/elderly people! I will be contacting the FCC, FTC, and anyone else I can. The government is paying them for this, and they are absolutely HORRIBLE!

Friday 4,2022 I asked to speak to a manager when I call SafeLink today and the representative said no problem she's like what's your first and last name I said I need to speak to a manager when I did that she hangs up in my face she push buttons in my ear and then hangs and hangs up in my face very unprofessional instead of just getting me a manager
I sent this Complaint to Lifeline service program and will be calling them today I cancelled my service with them as well!
SAFELINK will not allow me to keep my number and when I try to get my old number back with them that I already had they started telling me that I will lose my phone if I don't get the new SIM card that they have through Verizon and that they're changing over to Verizon now when I called them the first time they told me that they would send me one for free because I'm in the lifeline service program I have been on the phone with them for hours upon hours I have been going through this with them for days now and they all are giving me the runaround every time I call there now telling me that I cannot get the SIM card for free and then if I don't pay for it my phone will lose service and then I would not have a phone anymore if I don't get that new SIM card through Verizon and I'm making a complaint against them this is wrong

If I could i would give it a 0 stars. All of these phone companies have these representatives somewhere else that really does not speak and understand our language very well, so they end up messing everything up. I tried several times to get my service activated and switched after speaking with three different reps that was finally done but my number port in failed because it was the weekend and system needed to update. I call back on Monday and was on the phone from 2:33pm til they closed at ten. I had to keep calling and calling to keep getting switched to a department where the automated system hangs up on me. Finally at 8:32pm someone finally gets on the line and assures me they can help me port my old number in. She keeps saying that she is disconnecting old service. I keep telling her that I do not want my serivces disconnected that I am transporting in not out. She assures me that she understands and is fixing it. My phones goes off in the middle of this phone call. This lady has disconnected my services. I tried the chat who was unable to help me at all. They told me to call back in the morning to speak with the enrollment department because I am not enrolled. This leaves me with no phone and can't work the next day because I need my phone to work. I do deliveries in the mornings so I'm stuck making no extra cash for this morning because I have to deal with not having a phone and they are probably going to tell me 7 to 10 business days before it will be working again. I'm sorry but if a company is going to do business with Americans they should have a call center in America where the reps can understand what is being said. This is foolishness that can be avoided if they understood our language Just saying
I had been using their free cell phone service since 2013, and in early 2020 the second non smartphone that they had sent me broke, so at first they claimed I wasn't eligible to get a new phone, and then they said it could just be the battery that needs to be replaced. At first they said they weren't going to even send me a battery so I had to order one and then I had to return it because after they claimed they would now send me a replacement phone of the same model, and told me I wasn't eligible for a smartphone, then they mailed me a brand new decent smartphone.
Well after having this smartphone for a year and a half, it broke and was totally dead, and I asked them if the Safelink customer service could please send me a replacement for it, and I said I don't care if it's the same model or even just a basic cell phone because it's very important to have a cell phone for emergencies, both the customer service agent and then the supervisor I asked to speak to both claimed I'm not eligible to get another phone, they are full of garbage and I said I am still eligible for the same reasons I have been for years using their service.

On 10th and long beach in front of Superior market there are two stands one is safelink and the other assurance. On Sat 1/30/21 around 10am an employee of safelink was being super rude to the employee of assurance. My nephew was the first to notice the safelink talking smack to the assurance we went in the store not thinking any of it but we come out side and the safelink is telling us that the assurance person is selling people information to dont get a phone from her to go to safelink. We dont need a phone but then she started being racist toward the employee of assurance and telling people all sort of things about the employee of assurance. I get competion is competion but to do it the was she was WAS NOT OK! The employee of ensurance didn't even said anything to the safelink girl that kept being rude. After hearing racist slurs we final got out of our car ask the assurance person if she needed help as the safelink employee continue yelling and saying things to the assurance employee. All the assurance employee said was I am going to call my supervisor. We told the other employee of safelink that was there that his coworker was harrassing the employee of assurance he did try calling her or said anything to her. We stood there for sometime to make sure things didn't escápate. But over all racist and being rude the way she was was not at all ok.
I must use Safelink wireless services because it is thru a state program. I do not understand the reason states spend so much taxpayers monies on such horrible companies like SL. I transferred my service from an old phone to a new phone about 12 days ago to be able to connect it to my glucose meter and the entire technical dept has been incapable to transfer my service for the last 10-12 days. I have called 19 times; the phone service works for a few hours, then it says "not registered on network." I am extremely frustrated with this company and its call centers abroad. They hire people with no technical knowledge, insolent and I feel safe speculating these telephone people sabotage the service after speaking to customers. As I write here, I have been on hold for 1hr 17min; then 2 hrs 33 min: and now for 35 min. The telephone agent gave me her ID *******, another one ID *******. The first ID refused to solve the issue, thes second transferred me. Next, I spoke to a supervisor by the name of Desidarious, all equally incompetent and inept. The last rep said he was transferring my call to a "higher" technical dept after he said he was in "corporate office" just to place me on the queue for another 45 min to speak with another genius that hung up on me again. I have a recording of the entire conversation yet there is no way to submit any feedback. Stay away from this company! Additionally, my original service was unlimited calls, unlimited text, 25GB data and 5GB hotspot. When they move the service they changed my plan to 1000 limited text and calls and reduced all the rest of the plan and they are to inept to even reinstated it.

Originally the safe link i had was through tracfone and they would recertify it on a yearly basis by an email or text for a full year. Although i had my service with them for 6 years and the service was supposed to be active through may of 2022, my phone was disconnected on Oct 1st, i called and were told that need to re-certify. I did that after 10 days had to call back so they connect the service and finally after 7 hours talking to so many people finally the service was on and i was assured that it'll expire Oct 2022, but Nov. 1st, they disconnected it and another 4-5 hours to get it activated, it was fine until 12/01, these people don't realize with new banking regulations most of the banks do a 2 step verifications and send a code to customer's phone number on file.and without having an active phone with the number that they have on file you are shut. Back to recertification, i called on Dec 3rd, when i noticed the phone was disconnected again and now i was told national verifier cancelled my active service and i had to start all over with the recertification application online and waiting 10 days and after calling national verifier and introducing myself, they said you were approved 2 years ago why did they told you that you need to call us? I believe this is done so people give up and cancel their services, after all there are tons of illegal aliens that have priorities over US citizens. I checked and there are companies like TELLO they give you unlimited call, text starting at $7.50 a month, if you pay $30 payments for 4 months. I have spent good 10 hours on the phone talking to these people who some i don't understand and i hear baby crying in the background or 5 times so far, i heard roosters singing. All these so called reps are all in one room in somewhere in Bermuda triangles answering these calls and transfer the phone calls to one another as it's a big company., when i got safe-link i had already over 1800 paid minutes on my phone that tracfone wiped it out as well. The customer service if it can be called customer service is weak and useless. These guys don't understand a word you are saying, so you might as well talk to a wall. And as long as plandemic continues this is going to get worse than ever.
Customer service doesn't know what to do with our issues and disconnected the calls. So frustrated!
