My local Safeway has a Wells Fargo in it and that's extremely convenient for me. I do think they are a bit pricey, but they have beautiful produce. I also like the deli section as they have some items I'm unable to find elsewhere
I got screwed on Just for U again. Loaded the Club Card with weekly deals & only received membership discounts. The clipped coupons did not compute. Fu*ked again Safeway. Oh well, I'll get even somehow.
Stopped in to pick up 2 vine ripen tomatoes item #4664 and was 3 times higher then other stores at Giant $1.49 a pound regular price at Safeway $3.99 a pound I then looked at other priced items all were 2-3 times higher than Giant and Shoppers I won't be shopping in Safeway whoever controls the pricing should be ashamed of themselves
The Safeway/Albertson's app is absolutely terrible. If I try to use it, it fails in many ways. I scan a code of an item, and it doesn't actually record it. Then adjustments have to be made at the checkout. It often simply doesn't work at all, but instead just buffers and buffers. Often it doesn't record the items on sale that I've selected. AND it can be very difficult to get it to change store locations. Using it makes me extremely frustrated. I need to get in and out of a store in a reasonable amount of time. Using the useless app eats up a lot of my time.
If a person is already a Safeway or Albertson's member, then why not just give us the sales price of an item at checkout, and eliminate the damned app!
Many checkers say people tell them every day that they hate the app, and so do the checkers.
Get rid of it PLEASE!

This Safeway in University Place Washington State is the worst store.
Most of the checkers are rude. Their prices are way overpriced. I can go a mile further to Fred Meyers in James Center and they have everything I want and lots of small carts always, yet Safeway always says their carts get stolen. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what to do. Do like Fred Meyers does and they have a lock on them if taken off the property.
Safeway has very little yet a mile up the road I can find everything I need that Safeway does not even carry at Fred Meyers. I have lived here for 47 years and I do know what's what.
We buy all of our office supply / food from safeway.com and it is much easier than other online delivery services. Our office buys everything from paper towels to cases of diet coke and they deliver it right to our office. They also will give you free products via email if you order online. The delivery is free and there is no minimum fee. Everyone in the office can easily make their requests and add to the shopping list. Great service!
Safeway's regular prices are very high and stores are routinely out of stock of advertised specials. Safeway's website is slow to load, forces you to sign in repeatedly, and its rewards program isn't functioning. If Safeway is allowed to merge with Kroger, a bad situation will get worse, especially in markets like Denver where the two companies control most of the market. I complained that I couldn't browse my local ad and was told I'd be e-mailed when the problem was resolved; I never got that e-mail and a week later, my rewards account has been deactivated. I can't reset my password or establish a new account due to "technical problems". Very, very poor!
Stopped in at Safeway to get some wings however their fryer was acting up, so the wing station was not open nor going to be for the rest of the day, bummer. So, I got some Potatoe salad and chicken tenders and breasts. The person behind the chicken counter spoke so low I did not hear what she was saying, so my order was not as large as it could have been. Took my items up to the check-out stand and got Crystal who maybe was having a bad day. I didn't get to use my discount by inputting my phone number because Crystal could not seem to get it to work, nor did she care to try to fix it just "oh well" "to bad" "so sad". So, I will probably go back but not anytime soon and will be sure to watch out that I don't get CRYSTAL as a cashier.
Got groceries delivered from the Safeway website. There's a Safeway right by me. Used it, because I had Covid.
Terrible. I didn't get 2/3 of what I ordered -- the stuff that I actually wanted -- and some items were wrong. It's also worth noting that some of the items were past expiration, and another item was soon-to-be expired. I know for a fact that they had a large stock of the items on the shelves.
I will never use their delivery again. Do not recommend.

This Prescott Valley location in AZ has been going down Hill and is only been getting worse. There is no customer service! I stop by the fish and meat department. The man could not have been more miserable. The associate in the bakery and deli seem to hate being there. The young girl in the deli had to be told to change her gloves after going on the floor and handling packages of meat to bring back and cut. Nor did she wash her hands after changing her gloves which the health Dept require people to do in the food industry! All about bacteria and preventing food poisoning.
Prescott Valley Safeway your store staff needs some serious training on customer svs and food handling!
The only pleasant person I dealt with was the young man in the produce dept.
I had to run to Safeway before my husband left for work to get medicine for my sick son. My total came to $16. I realized at check out that I forgot my ID and debit card. I had no way to pay and walked away sad. A nearby clerk saw my medicine and paid for the order for me so I could take it home! May God bless her!
I have used Safeway.com numerous times over the past year and finally have had enough! Constantly out of stock on items I order... then remove those items from your stupid website Safeway! Over 45 minutes late today. IMPOSSIBLE to reach a human via their "customer service" (to use that term LOOSELY) phone number, and if you call the local store they play dumb and push blame off on delivery people without lifting a finger to help! I'm SO thankful a Frys is opening soon in my neighborhood so I can say "adios" to Safeway for good!
They add these 10.00 off coupons to my account but they never work and they can't explain why at the store. Prices are high and coupons that don't work. Deli is open when they want with limited product. I decide to stop shopping here at Smith Ave store in Pikesville. I hope they close and something better opens up.
Pirates is my nickname for these guys. I don't have much of a choice where I live so forced to shop here even though they do crap like make you navigate through their PIA app to get an ad price for strawberries and then don't give you that sale price. Happens way more than it should and I shouldn't have to check my receipt to make sure I get the correct price. You might suggest I watch for the price on the screen as they scan but therein is another issue, most of the time I have to bag my own groceries or stand and waste more time as the checker nonchalantly throws items in my bag. While I'm venting, I was going to buy a bag of potato chips but I had to buy 2 to get 2 free to receive the $2 savings. I don't need 4 bags of chips and I wasn't about to pay the inflated price of $4.49 for one bag. Pirates!

For a corporate owned shop, it's actually nice to shop at the Ballard store. I never use self checkout so the cast is very friendly. The store is clean and organized and the guys in the deli and produce always like to help me if I cannot find what I am looking for. I shop there daily for lunch and the cashiers and I are getting to be on a first name basis. Always a friendly "Hi, how you doing today?" followed by a small to long conversation about everything and everything. I have even passed on to them some respices and cooking tips. Sadly it's seems to be a haven for thieves and homeless. It's like every time I am there someone at the front end is always catching someone trying to steal something. Yeah the prices are getting out of hand but thats everywhere you go these days.

I used their delivery service for several years in the past (spotty, at best) as well as shopping at their stores. For the past year I've been using Drive Up and Go. Since I'm keto, I only buy meat and eggs with a smattering of veg. Safeway regularly has sales on meats that are terrific so I've been using Drive Up at least once a week. One major criticism is how they will sometimes substitute an item even though you asked them not to. In this case, you have to deal with their online very rude, not very smart "customer service." Good luck with that - they should all be fired and maybe replaced with American workers. Anyway, my real rating is 3.5 because of their horrid customer service. The young people who bring out your groceries are prompt (usually) and are very pleasant, however. Safeway - come visit your Sacramento store (Crocker) to see what customers want in customer service; then do something about the numbskulls you hire for online.
I love the baby back ribs but removing that membrane is very difficult. I went to the butcher to ask him to remove it for me. The gentlemen was rude and not happy and told me I could leave it on. My dad was a butcher and would never talk or treat a customer like that.
Bought rib eye steak -twice at Safeway/ Albertsons. I don't know what part of the cut they did, but even throwing it in a pot roast didn't tenderize it enough to be tolerable. I won't shop their meat department ever again. Mid labeled garbage.
So yeah. Safeway. Being going there for years. Went to QFC and figured out a big difference. Safeway won't call up extra cashiers when it gets busy! Has anyone noticed this? Albertsons still does even though they were bought out by Safeway. My son even stated this ( he worked for another chain) and said that Safeway was notorious for this: not calling up extra checkout help. Done with ya. Oh and watch out for Chevron who says the Safeway points will save you money at the pump. The one near me on Sunset in Renton ups their prices to cover that difference! Done with you too!
I have been an avid Safeway shopper for many a year now. I loved to buy your fudge brownies then in a very short time the price went from $5 to $6 to $8. Now they sell for over $8 and well less than 1/2 the original weight in bite-sized pieces. What a RIP OFF to the customer. Like myself and many other purchasers of this product-I have had my fill. I no longer shop at Safeway as the store is and hasn't been for some time now for the customer but for the Almighty PROFIT. I inform others of this also and i know many feel and many have left Safeway due to your lack of customer care.
I order on line to pick up groceries. The people who work there are very nice. Last time I received an order of organic carrots that were very old. The Toby's dressing I ordered I discovered when home was out of date and spoiled. Their organic butter has added natural flavors. Their organic yogurt has additives. In terms of the dressing there is no way to report it unless I go into the store. I go to drive up because I have a bad back and prefer to pick up items. As an aside it is a very good service. But Safeway itself is to me an inferior grocery chain.
I have been getting my groceries delivered since the pandemic. They always get something wrong. When I call customer service or the store that delivers I have gotten attitude like why dont you come to the store and shop.
I think they dont like to deliver and mess up orders on purpose to discourage ppl from getting deliver service.
The Safeway app is poorly designed. It is difficult to load, locate, and edit discounts I have loaded onto my app. Why can't I delete old "For U" discounts and why can't I have all loaded discounts in my digital grocery cart? The poor design feels like it is purposely confusing and make me want to shop at a big box without all the confusing discounts.
They were running their special for Christmas this year, 2023. Rib-Eye roasts for $4.77.
For the FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW, I had to stand in line at customer service for 1/2 hour to get it at the correct price. They made all sorts of excuses that I didn't clip the digital coupon, or I didn't pick the right store or their app said I wanted delivery. I did pick the coupon, I did not want it for delivery and none of that should matter if the advertisement is for their statewide promotion price, which it is.
Every year I have to have them ring up the prime rib roast last to see if I get the advertised price and every year I don't.
I know most people don't get this bad about it, so I figure if they hit me for $75 this year and tried $120 last year. God knows how many thousands of dollars they are scaming from my city alone, let alone millions from the people in my state.
Tip for consumers:
I tell everyone to make sure any large purchase from them. is rung up last, so you can make sure you get your discounts.
Safeway refused to honor a coupon that was clipped and cell phone not available to prove. Most of their sales have crazy stipulations. Their app never works. Their CSRS are unhelpful. Here is photo of refused clipped coupon.

Pollock Pines Safeway is a store with horrible management. Store is the worst stocked store I have ever been in. Having worked in grocery business for 32 years all in management I know a poorly run store when I see it. Unfortunately residents in Pollock Pines have few choices. Shame Safeway doesn't realize the value this store can offer locals. Safeway has failed the residents here.
I was at Fort McMurray Safeway on June 29th at around 6pm and I saw one old lady cashier with unbuttoned uniform, as in all the way unbuttoned! She is roaming around with a clipboard. So dirty looking. She shouldn't have wear those uniform and just worked with her own shirt instead. This was just an observation and it is really so unprofessional looking for your store!
The self check out attendant (Rosa)on the other hand was so friendly and very neat looking, that should be the old lady's role model.
