Safeway cashiers always argue over Safeway coupons. They even attempt to not honor Rewards points for free items. This has happened so often that I think I'm pretty much done with Safeway. The last time I shopped at the Bothell Safeway, both the cashier & the cashier manager put me through hell over a $1.25 free item I was supposed to get with my Rewards points. When the item wouldn't scan right, instead of fixing the problem, they tried to blame me & made me reopen my Safeway app 5 times. They were extremely, and unnecessarily, rude and condescending. They put me through BS for 10 minutes over a $1.25 item and in front of other customers. Then when they finally had to admit that the problem was with the app. (while they finally rang it up for free per the coupon), they still charged me tax.? That makes sense--NOT! Basically, they tried to shame me as a customer for using my Safeway coupons & Safeway app. Rewards points. Unbelievable. And this is an ongoing problem. I'm done. F Safeway. Do you know how well other grocers treat their customers, like Trader Joe's, PCC, and similar?--very well! And they actually show respect for their customers (you know the ones who actually pay their salaries). These alternative stores mentioned above are totally worth it, just for the CS alone. What's really crazy is I actually save more money at Trader Joe's, I figured out, than I do at Safeway even with Safeway coupons & Rewards points. Safeway is a rip off all the way around. The worst, though, is the company is such a bloated monopoly that it has the arrogance to try to abuse it's customers, and that goes right down to its lower level workers. Pathetic. P.S. Also, more than once in the last 6 months (2 different Safeways), when I have purchased items on sale, they turned out to be expired for a week. One was a salad, and as I ate toward the middle, I noticed the leaves were limp & starting to rot. Then, I looked at the expiration date--7 days expired! I hope Safeway fails.
I ordered an expedited delivery from Safeway (Marina, San Francisco, 15 Marina Blvd) online on 7/7/23.
The total order was $150.74 for delivery between 9 and 10 am. Upon receipt at 9 am 1/2 my groceries were just 'poof' not there. I immediately phoned customer service & let them know all of the items which were missing. I was informed, FULL STOP there was no possibility of receiving the items which were missing until the following day. I asked for a refund & this individual said fine. Subsequently I ordered from another online service (Instacart) to replace the items which weren't delivered, at much greater expense (I was having people over for dinner) to me. Fast forward to 4:30 pm the same day and an extremely rude delivery person miraculously appeared w/ the errant items. I told him I didn't need this as I had already shopped elsewhere & he refused to take the items away (I had to donate given it would have been wasteful). After over 5 times phoning customer service as well as over 8 contacts w/ web contact they have flip flopped w/ emails saying I had been refunded $52.18 of the original $150.74 and today I was told I should go to Marina Safeway and fill out a form/complaint. I have the emails from them and have forwarded to BBB, CA Attorney General etc. I'm not asking for a lot, just not continuous lies & a simple refund for what I didn't receive.
The safeway on Capitol Hill DC was renovated a few years ago. When you walk in the store it looks big, shiny and full of produce. However there is frequently trash strewn on the ground out front. No cards available for use. No employees on the floor for assistance. No one ever behind the seafood counter. And on weekends frequently only 2 lines open with unfriendly cashiers.long long wait times. Attempts to reach management via online, corporate headquarters you get no response. There is NO voice mail available for store manager. Requests to have call back are unmet. As a customer you would be best to stick with Harris Teeter, Giant, Aldi, Whole Foods.
Beware do not buy Bright paper towels they look strong like a good deal. But when you go to get paper towel it tears off crooked does not cut off straight I thought it was me I tried being super careful to tear off and it still tore up sooo Disappointing my husband told me the same when he tried to get one off I said these paper towels are horrible he said I know. Looks can be deceiving super Disappointment in this product.
If I could Give this store a big fat zero I would. I am so sick of their scamming ways. Groceries have doubled and tripled, but that's not enough for greedy Safeway. They have to cheat people and scam them. I hate this store I will never be back. I am so sick of my groceries costing $20 to $40 more because of their misleading scamming ways.I have to drive 30 miles to the nearest store, but I will do it because I know I won't spend that much in gas. They have lawsuits against them right now. Who's to wonder they just can't seem to do anything but cheat, scam and continue to be greedy. You have lost a very good customer and I will continue to tell every person I know. And try to convince them not to go to, this lower then low store. Shame on you Safeway. You need to change the name of your store because shopping here is definitely not the Safeway to shop, Unless you don't care about your bills or an education for your kids, travel, nice things. It's already hard enough out there. Thanks for contributing to Everything that's awful in this world.
I am trying to set-up my elderly father for home delivery. The store says they deliver to his area, but the app says they do not. The online order system says they do not. I have uninstalled the app, reinstalled, and still get the same error message. I have contacted safeway 12 times now and it still doesn't work. The customer service is awful! Meanwhile, my elderly father needs food and they only way to get it to him is for me to get in the car and make the 7 hour trip. There are no other stores in his area that offer hoem delivery. Thanks a lot Safeway for your lousy service!
Stopped in at Safeway to get some wings however their fryer was acting up, so the wing station was not open nor going to be for the rest of the day, bummer. So, I got some Potatoe salad and chicken tenders and breasts. The person behind the chicken counter spoke so low I did not hear what she was saying, so my order was not as large as it could have been. Took my items up to the check-out stand and got Crystal who maybe was having a bad day. I didn't get to use my discount by inputting my phone number because Crystal could not seem to get it to work, nor did she care to try to fix it just "oh well" "to bad" "so sad". So, I will probably go back but not anytime soon and will be sure to watch out that I don't get CRYSTAL as a cashier.
We are chronically overcharged for advertised specials and digital coupons. I have dealt with regular staff and even the store manager who was incredibly rude while blaming me for the errors as they had my phone/membership # incorrect in the app. Additionally they are required to give you the item for free if under $5 or if over $5, they are required to give you a gift certificate. I have mostly dealt with the clerks in the store and some have been horribly rude when you report the situation and unwilling to provide the gift certificate for all your troubles. Blaming the customer for their errors is beyond insulting, they are just angry they got caught ripping you off or the people responsible for inputting the prices or your information are incompetent!
Apparently it's a chronic, systematic problem that's been going on for years. They don't want you to know the policy that the court injunctions going back 15 years require. This happens at different locations from what I have experienced and read numerous other people complaining about. It's a common, popular topic on NextDoor to warn people to check their receipts. I can only imagine how much I have been ripped off of. I've seen one of my overcharges to be over $41!
Safeway gave me a card some years back in order to access the sales. I've been using the card. However, none of the personal deals in the app were being honored, so I kept going up to customer service everytime to show them my phone app and the coupons I clicked to get my refund. She finally told me this week that they no longer accept the Safeway Card... WTF. When I scan the card at the self checkout, it actually says "card accepted." Why do you tell me this, when it isn't true! So how do you get your personal deals? You have to put in your phone number, which I can do... BUT WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL ME THIS? Why is my phone number not linked to the card? Why didn't you tell me you no longer honor the cards?Oh, and she told me they that soon they're not going to have ads at all. Oh, and they stopped carrying the Amish butter. Everyone in our community is calling it the "Amish butter crisis." Everyone bought it, so it's not like it wasn't selling. Oh, and they are ALWAYS out of heavy cream, which is needed in numerous recipes. They never have the sale items anyway. I've just really had it with Safeway. They are the worse run company I've ever seen.

Avocados member price on occasions 4 for fcuking 6 bucks. Did you grow them safeway? Fcuk no you didn't than you have the audacity to make digital coupons for.37 ea. Dafuq are you doing? This is an absolute outrage and worse than big pharma. FIX IT $#*!S

Bought Pepperidge Farm Pastry Puff Sheets frozen products 2 weeks ago, frozen it 15min later at home and defrost it Friday (back it the fridge), planning to bake today Sunday.
Totally moldy sheets when I opened the product.

They have a check box for Keto Friendly products. But it is not all that helpful. Maltodextrin is NOT KETO Friendly. Buyers beware.
This insurance is waist of money and health( nerves). It will take you at list a month to get you car done, and these in case you have time to email and call them every day non stop, anyway nobody answers. The worst experience ever, they treat everyone like p of s…this what the mechanic told me, where my car was fixed. They don't work with big dealerships like "Hunday" for example, but will not inform you about this, just small mechanic shops, be careful and read the policy, even if they will tell you to do the car where you please, like I said it's miscommunication, nobody answers your calls, just a few text messages that seems to be written by robots. Just be aware and better to not have any affair with them.
It's a great delivery service, but when you order slabs of drink and a young lady who can barely lift the slabs arrives, I think, is wrong. Luckily I arrived in time to do it for her. Maybe allocate certain jobs for different drivers, maybe with trollies. Otherwise, a really speedy service.
So much to say...I used to be a daily shopper at Safeway. Even tho they manipulate their prices daily and play a 'shell-game' with how they present themselves to the public as a responsible grocer. They are anything but.I was checking out and using my digital app for some coffee. It showed a discount, but not what was advertised in the isle. I brought this to their attention and the guy said it was my fault. After proving his ignorance, he proceeded to tell me that it was Safeway's faulty APP. It too, was an absolute lie. Safeway is rigged with deceptive business practice, that if you continue to shop there, you'll need to scrutinize every item rung through their corrupt system. There's plenty more to post with regard to their BS tactics, but more that I care to put the effort in mentioning.
Unfortunately who I thought was a trustworthy older lady was a thief in disguise... She told me $5 due and then pocketed the money and had the nerve to say I'm not giving it back! Wow! I'm fully disabled and paid with an s3 card and this coldhearted employee tells me I have a balance... I pay and you pocket my money and then get smart! Wow! Ms. Patricia shocked me but kharma is alive and real and I will get my money back!
The Safeway/Albertson's app is absolutely terrible. If I try to use it, it fails in many ways. I scan a code of an item, and it doesn't actually record it. Then adjustments have to be made at the checkout. It often simply doesn't work at all, but instead just buffers and buffers. Often it doesn't record the items on sale that I've selected. AND it can be very difficult to get it to change store locations. Using it makes me extremely frustrated. I need to get in and out of a store in a reasonable amount of time. Using the useless app eats up a lot of my time.
If a person is already a Safeway or Albertson's member, then why not just give us the sales price of an item at checkout, and eliminate the damned app!
Many checkers say people tell them every day that they hate the app, and so do the checkers.

Where to start? Prices exceed reasonable inflationary increases. The so-called Safeway app is worthless. Clumsy and difficult to use. Wastes time and is frustrating. Shelves have empty gaps which has continued post Covid. Pharmacy doesn't tell customers when an app like GoodRx will significantly reduce cost even with government plans. They'll disclose that but not without asking. Not focused on customers. Almost anywhere else would be better than Safeway.
Many Fridays I went to safeway for Friday special sale products after work about 5pm. But they always sold out. This Friday I took off 3 hours earlier to get there for the special sale products, but they still sold out. Waste my time. So disappointed.
The Pearl District Portland Safeway won't staff the customer service desk when customers need them too. This has been going on for over one years time! The manager on duty refused to open it on more than one occasion when I asked. I have to go to a different store to get my needs met. This store is close to my home and I do not drive! Please staff the customer service desk or tell the MOD to open it when customers want service.
Answer: There is hardly any customer svs at this store. It sucks the staff seem really unhappy and miserable.
