My local Safeway has a Wells Fargo in it and that's extremely convenient for me. I do think they are a bit pricey, but they have beautiful produce. I also like the deli section as they have some items I'm unable to find elsewhere
I got screwed on Just for U again. Loaded the Club Card with weekly deals & only received membership discounts. The clipped coupons did not compute. Fu*ked again Safeway. Oh well, I'll get even somehow.
Went to Burlingame Safeway and asked a courtesy clerk for the bathroom code and he said he didn't have it. I asked him to get it for me and he said no and walked away. His name is Alexander. I have never had such a rude experience.
Feels like their site was built was amateurs as a college project. Poorly designed site and worst customer experience combined together. I ordered 3 times and ever single time i got a cancelation after 6 hours of placing the order. The item was still available in store and online yet they kept canceling after 6-8 hours. Spoke to customer support and they were as clueless as the site. And every time they canceled the order, they would deactivate my account. Customer support said they have no idea why that happened. Its just a useless service.
Tip for consumers:
Dont use them unless you like surprises!
The Safeway in Catonsville Maryland on Baltimore National Pike is the worst grocery store ever. It is never clean they never have the items that you need they have a high turnover for employees. The employees are eating at the registers cussing at the registers and playing at the registers.
Tip for consumers:
Employees people who would like to work who who take pride in the job that they are doing.
I needed a a chocolate cake with white frosting for my grandson's birthday! Being a holiday weekend, it was difficult finding exactly what I needed. I had gone to Nugget and Raley's with no luck. I was getting worried, I may not find what my grandson wanted. When I went to Safeway on Folsom Blvd, I ran into the same problem. Ruzanna at Safeway offered to make one up for me, if I didn't mind waiting a few minutes. OMG! What GREAT customer service was that! Thank you Ruzanna! Safeway hires GREAT employees!
I order on line for delivery between 5 PM an 9 PM. At 8:30 PM got a call that my delivery would be there between 9 PM and 10 PM. at 9:15 PM I got a call that they would not be able to deliver that night and given their 8 00 number to call to reschedule my delivery. When I call the 800 number they were closed. Called next morning at 6 AM and for delivery at 8 AM and was told they could guarantee the could deliver then. I ask why they didn't deliver last night and was told they don't make deliveries after 10 PM. When my order finally showed up (9 AM over 16 hours after it should have showed) it was missing several items and of the items I did receive the frozen items has started to thaw and the "fresh" chicken was frozen! It is now 1 PM the next day and I still haven't received all items I ordered. They were sure fast to charge my bank card for the charges, only wish they were as fast and correct on their delivery!
Safeway is a bad work environment for young people. My daughter is underage and works in a Safeway store as a cashier. A co-worker stole her Apple Airpods and was caught in camera red handed but Safeway did NOTHING about it. I will not allow my daughter to work in that kind of environment where thieves can do whatever and Safeway just stays still and quiet.
Bought Pepperidge Farm Pastry Puff Sheets frozen products 2 weeks ago, frozen it 15min later at home and defrost it Friday (back it the fridge), planning to bake today Sunday.
Totally moldy sheets when I opened the product.
Discusting and lost my confidence in safeway quality, ability to maintain the chain of cold and this product for sure.
Exp. Date in Oct 2023 5 months from now.
Proof of purchase with my Safeway membership since the store (I am sure) keeps tracks of my purchases.
I do not keep receips.
Tip for consumers:
Terrible quality, molden product in the frozen aisle...

I am trying to set-up my elderly father for home delivery. The store says they deliver to his area, but the app says they do not. The online order system says they do not. I have uninstalled the app, reinstalled, and still get the same error message. I have contacted safeway 12 times now and it still doesn't work. The customer service is awful! Meanwhile, my elderly father needs food and they only way to get it to him is for me to get in the car and make the 7 hour trip. There are no other stores in his area that offer hoem delivery. Thanks a lot Safeway for your lousy service!
Tip for consumers:
The worst customer service I have experienced in a long time!
I would like to say that I have had my groceries delivered twice aweek for about 2 years and I have been very pleased with every thing, occasionally I have ordered something and it arrived a little different as I had thought it was number like 4 Carrots and have reseved 4 lb. but I made some delicious Carrot and Ginger Soup which was delicious.
If someone thing is missing a quick phone call and I am credited no questions asked and the customer service people are very helpful and pleasant. We live in Auburn WA and the drivers are all very very helpful.
I have shopped at Safeway for many years buying mostly groceries and some medicines from the pharmacy in it. I can't think of any complaints about them. Lol
Was at Safeway waterman Blvd in Fairfield. Asked for a sandwich to be made. Got an employee named Edith who constantly rolled her eyes and talked under her breath. Clearly she is not happy in her job
In the deli department there was a young man wearing dangling earrings while handling food. I know this is a health code violation for food and safety.

Well, I am DONE buying from Safeway's in any State or town again! I keep getting my rewards either not added, or, they just disappeared, even if they are not expired... And their customer service always cheats me out of them by saying that either I used them, or they have expired... EVEN after explaining to them, I HAVE NOT MADE ANY PURCHASES, plus my purchases were all made in the last 30- days! So, I will spend my money elsewhere, and suggest more people do the same...
They thought my daughter didn't look 12 so the refused her a shot. Awesome work, guys. You've lost a customer for life. Probably two when she dies from COVID.
Even spending ab average of an extra 5 -10 minutes in line to review purchases they still find ways to overcharge us. How about $24 for a head of kale? We do our homework., come prepared with an electronic list and even grab a paper ad to make sure of prices. Still get overcharged! Even then customer services in the PHILLIPINES do not actually make the refunds they promise over the phone. If you shop SAFEWAY DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND BE PREPARED TO BATTLE IT OUT TO AVOID BEING GROSSLY OVERCHARGED.
I ordered an expedited delivery from Safeway (Marina, San Francisco, 15 Marina Blvd) online on 7/7/23.
The total order was $150.74 for delivery between 9 and 10 am. Upon receipt at 9 am 1/2 my groceries were just 'poof' not there. I immediately phoned customer service & let them know all of the items which were missing. I was informed, FULL STOP there was no possibility of receiving the items which were missing until the following day. I asked for a refund & this individual said fine. Subsequently I ordered from another online service (Instacart) to replace the items which weren't delivered, at much greater expense (I was having people over for dinner) to me. Fast forward to 4:30 pm the same day and an extremely rude delivery person miraculously appeared w/ the errant items. I told him I didn't need this as I had already shopped elsewhere & he refused to take the items away (I had to donate given it would have been wasteful). After over 5 times phoning customer service as well as over 8 contacts w/ web contact they have flip flopped w/ emails saying I had been refunded $52.18 of the original $150.74 and today I was told I should go to Marina Safeway and fill out a form/complaint. I have the emails from them and have forwarded to BBB, CA Attorney General etc. I'm not asking for a lot, just not continuous lies & a simple refund for what I didn't receive.

I've never been more disgusted w/ a company.

I broke my knee last April. After 3 months in hospital and rehab facility, I am safely living alone and Safeway Online is the only show in town that is a 2 click experience and delivers, via refrigerated truck, to my door and places groceries on the kitchen counter, The drivers are fabulous and professional and usually on time. I can only walk short distances and use a rollator. I order online and sometimes they substitute similar items. It is what it is! I live in an apt. In Bellevue, WA, and the delivery orders are fulfilled in Redmond, which is just north a bit.
Once your order is on the way you can follow the truck online in real time, so you know when it will arrive.
I don't miss grocery shopping at all and will use delivery after I am well. I won't be able to drive anyway!
My needs are slightly different than those of a family, Since I cannot stand very long, I cannot really cook. Safeway delivery is a good thing in my opinion, as a handicapped person.
Other stores deliver, but the personnel they use are usually unequipped and untrained.

Nothing to add.

The above questions don't apply to a grocery store.
I was shopping this weekend on my weekly visit to Safeway, but this time I left the store feeling uneasy and disappointed. I was walking down an aisle with my boyfriend and our 10 month old son when I slipped on a large oil spill in the middle of the lane. My boyfriend and my baby managed to miss it. However, I did a half-split with my legs, drenched one of my pant legs and faux Birkenstock sandals (which I had to throw away), and dropped my phone face down in the oil. I salvaged my phone and my boyfriend had to clean it off with his jacket, and I found a nearby napkin station to wipe my foot and pants off with. I walked through the store with oil on my foot. There was an employee who witnessed the entire thing right near the deli, yet he did not say anything to me although I expressed my discontent. He didn't offer to help, not say a word. There was no "caution, wet" sign out on display at the time. He found a sign and placed it near the spill after he saw what happened yet still said it did anything. I went to the customer service station after I checked out my items, where the assistant called the general store manager. When she arrived, she asked if I was okay and said she was sorry, but she ended up giving me two expired coupons to use on my next visit. I was hurt emotionally and embarrassed as I cleaned myself off in front of the busy store and customers walking by me. Just overall the worst experience I've had in a store in my entire 24 years of life.
Today I order groceries it was supposed to be delivered 5pm when it arrived was almost 7pm al my bananas as ripped and black smashed,my eggs more than 5 was broken

My order was planned feo. 1 to 5pm Whe. I got my order was almost 7pm all my eggs was broken bananas as in terrible shape
We are chronically overcharged for advertised specials and digital coupons. I have dealt with regular staff and even the store manager who was incredibly rude while blaming me for the errors as they had my phone/membership # incorrect in the app. Additionally they are required to give you the item for free if under $5 or if over $5, they are required to give you a gift certificate. I have mostly dealt with the clerks in the store and some have been horribly rude when you report the situation and unwilling to provide the gift certificate for all your troubles. Blaming the customer for their errors is beyond insulting, they are just angry they got caught ripping you off or the people responsible for inputting the prices or your information are incompetent!
Apparently it's a chronic, systematic problem that's been going on for years. They don't want you to know the policy that the court injunctions going back 15 years require. This happens at different locations from what I have experienced and read numerous other people complaining about. It's a common, popular topic on NextDoor to warn people to check their receipts. I can only imagine how much I have been ripped off of. I've seen one of my overcharges to be over $41!

I feel that the prices are more expensive than other grocery stores, and they don't seem to be very friendly. The pharmacy is very slow. I will definitely not be shopping there.
Safeway 2637 N. Pearl Tacoma Wa. Several occasions over the last three years I have been turned down for shots, always too busy and must drive 30 miles to get them done at another Safeway. This goes for flue, covid, shingles. They ran out of my prescription and the other Safeway store I use drove 90 miles to go get some for their customers. I needed a prescription filled three days ago they were too busy to fill and asked to come back today 7/03/ 22 I went back to be told to come back because the pharmacist didn't want to log in to his computer and was told to wait for the tech that was out to lunch. I can walk right in my other Safeway and get my covid booster. Not at this Safeway on pearl you must make appointment even though they are not helping anyone else except counting pills and when you go, they still turn you down and have you come back and make another appointment. Safeway on 6th that closed and on pearl haven't had great pharmacists or techs in about four years. Im done with this Safeway and the poor service we all get.
For those of you who, like me, really like Campbell's Chunky ROADHOUSE Chili, BEWARE the FALSE advertisement on Safeway Supermarket Corporations website showing the picture of the REGULAR Campbell's Chunky Chili With Beans LABELED with the name next to it of "Campbell's Chunky Chili With Beans ROADHOUSE" name. They are NOT the same! (SEE PICTURES BELOW). When I email contacted Safeway Corporation about this, they responded by "apologizing" that the product was mislabeled at the "LOCAL STORE" and headquarters would contact the "STORE DIRECTOR" to inform them about it. I HAD NOT even designated ANY of the local Safeway stores. (SEE CORPORATE RESPONSE BELOW). I could not include my email complaint because it was submitted through the Safeway online website format.
AS A CLERK THERE 2 YEARS ON TIME DID MY JOB AND A VETERAN, TOOK ON A JOB AT HOME DEPOT, I DIDNT LIKE IT WENT TO SEE IF I COULD GET MY JOB BACK DEC 28,21 SHE SLAM THE OFFICE DOOR ON ME AND SAID IM IN CONFERENCE CALL,, THERE IS A ANOTHER WORKED OF COLOR 2 NO SHOWS NO CALL, KEEPS HIRING HIM BACK, i WAS ALWAYS ON TIME AND DID MY JOB WELL, I DID GIVE A 14 DAY NOTICE,
I paid for 1hour delivery from 6-7pm. At 8pm, I called asking where my delivery was and if it was still coming. Safeway said, yes it was.
At 10:20pm, I called again becuase there was still no food. Safeway was closed.
My Mom who is in a retirement has had to wait for 10 hours sometimes and then it's even delivered at 10 pm at night.
