I always check SeatGuru before finalizing a seat request, typically for business or first class award seats that I'm booking. My only complaint is that it can be tricky sometime to figure out which version of a given aircraft type is being flown on a given route. And of course note that airlines do sometimes swap out equipment, so all your carefully laid plans may go awry--nothing one can do about that though.
This friggin site in SO antiquated when it comes to airline policies. Sun Country Changed Bag policy in 2018, but these guys never took the few minutes to update. Don't rely on them to let you know how much you'll pay for bags. They probably still have Northwest Airlines listed. Morons.

This site contains a wealth of information about whether any particular airline seat in any class is good, bad, or has special features or disadvantages. It can be hard to work out which aircraft configuration applies to your planned flight but most of the time it provides vital knowledge on what to choose on the booking engine for the flight or to ask for at check-in. Recommended.

A site with lots of details weaknesses: Since several months I see that e.g. Air Canada Airbus 330-300, version 2, row 12 has according SeatGuru such fantastic green marked seats with super legspace. In fact the whole row 12 has the most worse legspace I ever experienced on any airline for a Premium Economy seat.
Even a number of feedbacks directly placed at the website from different people didn't work, no update of the green mark. I saw that some people wrote that the site is "religiously used" by them. Well, I suggest to adapt this thinking, you might fail... I have some other examples, so taste the prayed suggestions with some doubts...
Without the information available on Seatguru I would have had many flights where my seat didn't recline, I had no carry-on storage space, and where I would have been elbowed nonstop by the lavatory line.
Before reserving a seat on any airline, always go to Seatguru to check out the seats first. You can search by Airline, Flight Number, route, Aircraft type, etc. Along with the seat information, they have helpful information about the airline such as baggage policies, check-in, luggage fees, etc.
What can I say... just got back from Thailand via Doha on the 777-300 and A380-800. The airline are really that good and I just had to pinch myself as to the brilliant service, the excellent seats and comfort of a long haul in economy made the trip so pleasurable!
Attention to detail and attentive staff make the journey just perfect.
Very well done Qatar, I will only use your airline going forward for other trips!
FANTASTIC - don't get on an airplane without checking seatguru first. Accurate, useful info about all the different quirks of airplane seats. If only it could tell you if there was going to be a 450 lbs person next to you...
I know that we all have had a few bad experiences where we could not get a seat on an airline, or have booked a flight only to find out once we got to the airport that the airline overbooked and we had to be put on some baloney stand by list. Seat Guru is quite accurate and does a solid job of giving up to date info on what seats are available for the flight you are interested in. This is a good tool to use before booking. Highly Recommended.
I would not even think about purchasing a plane ticket without checking this site. You just need to cross reference the plane type that the airline say that you will be flying on with the website and then you can get profile of all the seats on the plane. That way you won't end up with a non-reclining by accident.
I hate flying on airplanes and used this site to figure out which part of the plane I would be the happiest. Best part of plane away from smelly bathrooms and cramped up seats. The only bad part is not being able to reserve the seat you want if the flight is full.
This website is very informative especially for long trips, you can check the best seats for the kind of aircraft you choose. So if you find yourself cramped in a seat during your 17 hour flight, this site is definitely for you.
Seat guru used to be pretty good. I havent used it for a while. I just started using it again and it is like someone trashed the site. It is much less responsive than it used to be. I was checking a flight for January 2019. I selected the date from their calendar, but it put in January 2018. The web site provides less information than it used to.
I can't recall how I stumbled across this site but I thought it was just a fantastic idea!
This website lets you know everything about your flight plane and all the seats with comments and photos... even actual seat recommendations. So clever and original.
I work hard for my pennies, so when I've indulged in upgrading my flights in the past... I've occasionally been soooooo disappointed to find myself on a crappy old plane where there was hardly any difference in the cabin class. It was such a waste of money and when you're excited about your well earned holiday and all the planning... this can be a TOTAL slap.
Anyway, my point is, I know this will NEVER happen again thanks to this website. It never occurred to me that it could happen, but it also never occurred to me that it wouldn't have to be yet another unavoidable, annoyance in the life of a working class person.
How bizarrely liberating?!
Have used seat guru in the past and it is a very reliable and trusted website.
I've even referred my readers to this site from my travel blog.
I love this website, it is so convenient to use their seat maps. I didn't try the app yet but I am verry happy to use their services.
I use them religiously whenever I need to choose a seat for my flight.
The ultimate source for airplane seating, in-flight amenities, flights shopping and airline information.
